Your iPhone becomes a fully-featured, powerful document scanner with SmartScan. You can quickly and easily scan your multipage documents in high quality PDF or JPEG files on your iPhone or iPad. You can then rename and organize them, and send them anywhere.
SmartScan uses complex and efficient algorithms to accurately detect document edges, correct their perspective, eliminate shadows, and perfectly contrast text, black on white. You can also choose between color and black-and-white photo modes. Our user interface is powerful and easy to use. With this app you can easily adjust the brightness, color, and rotation of your device.
SmartScan offers SuperScan, a scanning mode that captures sharper images, especially in low-light conditions. Acquiring multiple takes of the same scan, SuperScan guarantees the best result.
SmartScan also has an "Email to myself" feature that works with a single tap.

Scanning tips
• Make sure the document is laying flat in a bright location
• For optimal edge detection results, make sure to have a contrasting outline or margin around your document while snapping the photo
• When shooting in low light conditions, use flash to illuminate the scene. However, be careful not to produce too much glare from shiny documents or surfaces.

The flexibility for saving the scans is every option that I need. I've contacted the developer a couple of times and they have responded with help within 24 hours and feature tweaks within just a few days. This app handles gray scale images better than most others. The only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars is edge detection. It's as good as most apps, better than many, but not the very best I have seen. The manual adjustment is very easy to use. But I have seen some automatic edge detection that's a lite more often accurate. more -

It is much more accurate than taking a regular picture of a piece of paper. This app always comes out clear and focused, detects the edges for you, and even re-scales the image so that any wrinkles, or un-evenness, on the paper comes out as perfect as if you had scanned it with a real scanner. It automatically detects the edges of the paper that you've taken a picture of (and if it's wrong you can easily choose your own edges with a live preview.) After that first step is done, all that's left is one step to change brightness/contrast (with 2 slider bars and a live preview of the result.) You can easily save to your regular camera roll (default "Photos" on iOS) on the final step, so you know exactly where your results go. I could not be more impressed with this app. I got it when it was on sale for free, but I would definitely purchase this app for the normal price if I got a new phone. I use it at least weekly to save papers and receipts (any size/shape!) My phone has become a scanner that I can use anywhere, on any piece of paper, very quickly and easily. Thank you for that! more

Camera is not working

Does not work as expected
Oct 22, 2016 By RaghunadOn seeing the app description in App Store Page, I was given impression that I could scan document in (and through) the App and convert it as PDF in the file as PDF in the same app. But after downloading, I found that that it can only cover the jpeg picture taken with some other app already, such as Photos App (in my iPhone 6), which lead to tedious trials through different apps for single purpose, which I could achieve till now with apps "Photos" and "Photo to PDF" app which already I have purchased. Added to it, after downloading, when I opened the app, I could not find "Scan" and "S3x" icons on the bottom of opening page, leaving no scope at all to scan the document. Further, when I tried to download it's connected apps such "PhotoScan PDF ...." and Premium version, I was prompted that they are not available in US App Store. Thus, I conclude that the App is did not function as specified and as I expected. Hence, I claim refund. more

A good start

Sequencing of operations: For example, you can't highlight a document until after you email or upload it. You have to hit Cancel first. 2. When highlighting, I need a way to zoom in on the document. Right now it is very hard to highlight the parts that I really want to highlight, because they are so small. The app is very tiny, and does an amazing job of creating scans, especially with the small size of the app. I'm optimistic that, with a little additional work, this app will become a great one. more -

The crop tool, and it's alternate preview, is usefully unique as well. The only improvements it might need is to be able to type text directly on images (to write notes or labels), & could also have a "sexier" interface. more

What’s Groovy
The quality of the scans is terrible. If the scans produced an image like the phone camera does it would be great

What’s Subpar
This latest update killed the ease of use that used to be built in. Some programmer followed in Apple's trend of taking away easy features/changing layouts/change-for-the-sake-of-change and wrecked the app. Move on to something else.
