  • Exceptional! Only Bridge App Worth Buying. Feb 26, 2018

    By NueroQ
A comprehensive, well designed, computer bridge game with amazing customer support (real answers from people). As computer bridge games go, this is an exemplar program and kudos to the design team that keeps improving and polishing what was already a solid product. Critical comments about its failure to replicate “real” human play or about the complexity of its settings, miss the beauty of this program: its appeal and benefit to any bridge player. With minimal effort, It can be played by an absolute beginner and there is a wealth of beginner support and educational material within the program. Alternatively, there are extensive settings that can be used to personalize the game to individual preferences of bidding systems, signals, and types of hands; as well as tools for learning or defending against more unusual bidding systems. Add to this is a variety of features that allow players to measure their growth in performance at any skill level and you’ve got an awesome bridge program in all respects and the best value for the money of any Apple App I have ever purchased.

I am not an expert bridge player and this is the only computer tool I have used for bridge. But I have played with humans a lot. From my experience this app does a good job 80 percent of the time in making the final call after multiple bids. I test the app by asking for hint and 80 percent of the time it will make the logical suggestions. That is impressive in my mind but I would like it to improve more. The more major flaw (it seems) is that the dummy players refuse to get trapped. Often. It seems that the dummy players knwo exactly what cards held by each party. A lot of it is acceptable and understandable, since the initial bid is supposed to give a sense of card distribution. But there are cases when it seem to know a little too much about hands that should be unknown. If you could review that aspect and improve that will be highly appreciated.

After years of Bridge Baron, it is so nice to finally play bridge and learn when I make an error, and more, to learn why another play makes better sense. I got so frustrated with Bridge Baron because of errors in bidding by dummy. Also, there were times the opener's suggested bid was absurd. I like the corrections and the choice of whether to play as suggested or as you originally wished. The customer support is amazing with two almost instant responses to issues of purchase, not the ap. Nice, polite follow up emails and very clear instructions on purchase issues for two devices. I’ve only had the ap a short time, but feel I could return to the bridge table with greater confidence. Worth every cent. Tremendous preparation for explaining the ap. Extremely well done and quite enjoyable.

This is the best Bridge App around! It has several modes of play: duplicate, rubber, Chicago, community hands. The Assist is a teaching no aid that has helped my game because it has the explanation to go with it. The cards are easy to read (unlike some apps). I've used this app for a few years now and my game has greatly improved. A few times, I contacted customer support with questions or issues and a prompt, friendly response follows. I highly recommend this App! Warning: you might spend too many hours playing Bridge, this App makes it very enjoyable!

The bidding seems to be a little weak. It is probably OK for beginners, but if my partner would bid like this app does, I would change partners. I could stand the way the app bids if there was an undo function or a change bid function. But those options don’t exist. After you have played a long time, you would appreciate having access to such functions. Bridge Baron does a much better job of play of the hand and bidding. It also has tons of useful options. But it costs $20. That $20 is well spent. I’m going to delete this app from my iPad now.

That said I have also improved by using a CD by Hoyle. Just upgraded computer and no more cd capability. I have purchased the full versions with unlimited plays since my wife and I liked the basic version so well. We are traveling in South America for 10 weeks with lots of very long bus rides and this app has really helped pass the time. I also just purchased the unlimited “Hints” portion to help us get even better at playing bridge. It is wonderful that Wi-Fi is not needed to enjoy this game.
  • Could be worse.. could be much better. Sep 5, 2019

    By tedalias
Technically, the app is well constructed and free play was FUN. Only 9 hands were offered so I bought into the basic package. My overwhelming sense is the play is VERY much geared to paying more money. First, the ability to adjust E/W or N/S conventions ‘expired’ 🙄 unless I pay more. Now I can honestly say that the game is biased against the player in a verifiably lop sided manner. I wonder if that would change if I upgrade. Hand after hand either is anemic- 0-5 points and no bidding except by the computer.. otherwise its hands with no bids (why not program that out.. how dumb), 13-15 point hands with outlandish perfect distribution for the computer to set, or lopsided distributions designed for the computer to set. Don’t get me wrong, in an average rubber my side wins a few. but after 2... 6... 10 anemic hands in a row of less than 6 points I did a 50 ‘next’ clicking and found it was not my emotion or imagination. Roughly 1/15 hands could open, and maybe 3 could respond. There is a lot of push for upgrade. So, despite a fun venue and VERY sophisticated design, I smell a rat. No more money from me.
  • Unbelievable distributions, stupid partners May 23, 2020

    By SkeetK
I thought that by now and with the number of critical ratings iBridge has received, the algorithms would have changed, but I was wrong. If anything they’re worse. I’ve never seen hands like I see far too frequently- nearly every deal has one or more players with 7 or more cards in one suit, sometimes in two. Probability just doesn’t work that way - there are far more ridiculous hands than those with reasonable distractions. Bidding becomes a guessing game at best. To top it off my “partners” have doubled and redoubled with absolutely no foundation, tanking our score, and their leads make no sense. This is my second time trying to play the app - I quit. FunBridge is far more fun and more realistic.
  • App written by bad bridge player Nov 23, 2018

It is no fun using this app. Too many messed up deals in bidding because the dummy uses cue bid without a trump fit, or with less than 10 points. Or with partner passing twice, forcing a game, playing part, lead single on NT deals— not partner bid. Not returning partner lead, delete all messed up hands— don’t need too muchhands — just keep the good ones. If your app has 80% good hands, only 20% bad messed, that is normal. But right now, it is 60% messed. Keeping 2 million hands is more than enough, no need 2 billion. I suggest you allow user to report bad hands that help you clean up. I even had a hand with physical 6, or even 2 point, bidding 4nt,or 5 level cue bid of Singleton, which bidding system allows that!?!!
  • Bad partner Jun 16, 2019

    By Knitteralia
I’m amending an earlier and more enthusiastic review. This is like playing with a bad partner. North just bid me up to 4 clubs and then for “support” put down two small clubs. That’s typical: unexpectedly high bids with unexpectedly low support. (On those hands I use autoplay: the computer did the weird bidding so it can play the hand.). I very much like the “hint” and “explain” buttons, although about half the time the explanations don’t help much. Why you’d bid a suit to show you don’t have it is a little odd — clearly a convention I’ve never heard of.
  • Severe Limitations Oct 25, 2019

    By Jlaurieonc
I’m a reasonably good bridge player. A life master at duplicate. In the rubber play hands, the computer partner frequently overbids - with 90 points on, it will bid 4 spades or hearts when all we need is one. The suggestions the game makes are frequently ridiculous. When I go with my instincts, I always do better. Playing American yellow card, I opened 2c. Partner replied 2D with 9 hc points and 5 hearts to the AQ. With the normal bid of 2h, we would have been in a lay down 6H contract instead of just game.
  • Bidding needs to significantly improve Dec 18, 2016

I use Precision to bid, but your Precision system is too simple and in some cases wrong. One example is 1C-1D,1D is supposed to be 7points or less, but yours can be higher than 7 points. All these mistakes need to correct. And also, even though your app can allow users to modify a bidding system, which is good, I wish you could open to allow users to do more modifications rather than just a few things.

If you do not buy the explanation the hands appear to be unmakable. Your partner bids you up and the cards are always split against you. No way to develop an off suit. And if they get thee bid the cards are set perfect for them. Leads you to believe that if you bought the explanation they could show you how to play it. I suspect the hands are different if you buy the explanation but can't prove it.

    By Almightygozar2
As a high level tournament player, I gave this a brief look. In five hands, I found numerous errors. Poor bidding, incorrect assumptions about bidding systems (eg SAYC is using standard Blackwood, not RKCB), less than stellar defense. This app might be ok for someone who has never played bridge but I’m willing to bet there are better options out there.
  • Unreliable bidding and AI cheat Sep 21, 2019

Like other reviewers I experienced horrible partner play over a span of several hundred games. Also have detected several occasions where the AI opponents made plays that could only have been made with specific knowledge of the human player's hidden hand. No Goren system availability is also a problem.

Well it didn’t, so I purchased a 24 assist pkg. when I was down to 9 assist hands, I purchased another 24 assist pkg, thinking it would add to my total. It didn’t. Careful if you purchase this app. They charge for everything! And then don’t have a way to increment your purchase! Rip off!

I have tried a few bridge game apps and I can say that I think IBridge is the absolute best. I have been impressed at how easily I can email them about any question and receive an answer quickly which is helpful and even at times entertaining...yes they have a sense of humor. They have covered every detail that an excellent app could possibly do and I especially enjoy the duplicate games where I can see my progress compared to other players without worrying that I might be embarrassed. Thanks IBridge!

This ap is challenging and fun to play and it is a great early morning brain exerciser to get yourself awake and alert, ready for your day. I learn from observing other players choices, from the coaching advice and from my own poor choices when I compare myself to others. And i do not have to find 3 other competent players to enjoy my bridge. There are several in ap purchase options that are worth the price so this is a 5 star ap. If you are going to use it, purchase the whole package. THIS IS MY FAVORITE AP!

I enjoy this game, the best Bridge game I've come across to date. Its myriad of settings are a bit dense, but give one control over nearly everything one could want. It offers something for everyone, with duplicate hands and playing assistance for private play. I don’t always take its advice, but usually do worse when I don’t. Customer support is responsive and the interface has greatly improved since I started using the app. Highly recommended.

Like the format. I've tried other games, and this one is easy to use and cards are shown in large, clear way--unlike some games which strain the eyes. As far as bidding and card play are concerned, the methods are standard enough that issues have been minimal. I am able to practice an unlimited number of hands and compare my play to that of the hidden table. Have felt my play has improved as a result. Highly recommend this app.

    By SalehFamily

I paid for the app and the lifetime bidding guidance. Unfortunately the app won’t open about twice a month. Right now is a good example. I can’t even open it. Rebooted my iPad and no response. I also have issues with the bidding on occasion and on partner’s play. I’m not a master player but have played quite a bit of bridge. It’s really not worth the money spent.

My only complaint is that the default bidding uses lots of conventions that my circle doesn’t play and to customize bidding options you pay extra. Still, I’ve spent many hours enjoying this app!
  • Great practice but could be improved Dec 4, 2019

I’m a beginner at bridge and would like better/more detailed explanations for certain bidding and play. Also IMO, There are some plays that can be improved. Occasionally when I take the apps recommended card play rather than my own, the result is not as effective. Overall I’m very appreciative of the app and it’s play.

If you are looking to become a better player, then this is a great app to see the array of hands that you might get and have the practice to play and defend. I started playing duplicate again after a 30 year hiatus and this brought me back up to speed in a matter of weeks rather than months.
  • Good for me right now Aug 12, 2016

I'm just learning bridge...about 4 months...and this is good for helping learn to keep count of cards. I also like that I can get hints and explanations for bidding. Some of the bid recon don't match what I'm being taught, but I haven't tried to make any setting adjustments. I especially like that I can replay with different contracts and card play.
  • Distribution unreal Mar 23, 2018

    By Secco2571
Far too many hands with too many 7 and 8 card suits (and singleton/voids). This is not representative of typical real brige distribution. You will find yourself reluctant to bid NT contracts due to the frequent weird unexpected distribution. I also believe that the EW bots have double dummy vision. Also, it will never claim or allow claiming even though it is a selection in settings. Also, I find when I select for SAYC, partner North is using lots of obscure add-on bids that I can’t turn off in settings. All that said, I don’t know of a better bridge application for iOS.

I read one review that suggests there are numerous weaknesses in this site; however, I suggest there are weaknesses in every on-line game system. The bottom line is that this site provides valuable practice in bidding (even in the system one is provided) as well as an opportunity to recognise weaknesses tendencies in both bidding and play. Well done site administrators! This site is well constructed! It most definitely teaches players from all levels to use their critical thinking skills in order to succeed.

I find the basic layout for a first time user very confusing. I wanted to go back and register and couldn't figure out how do do that, eventually I did. The try duplicate button was the button, I have no idea what the duplicate button is yet, but I did register. I have learned bridge on the past but have not played past my instruction. I will start to remember once I start to play I'm sure.
  • Fair Bridge App Nov 28, 2018

I’ve been playing this app for a few years and it runs well without bugs. But there are a couple of big negatives: -Finesse fails 90% of the time, which is mathematically improbable and not reflective of real bridge. -Computer partner will take control of bidding with fewer than 9-10 points, rebid four suit majors at the 3+ level, jump to slam without asking for aces, not return your lead, and other frustrating moves.
  • No instructions on how to use this game Oct 13, 2019

    By coiti12
I am new to this app and while it seemed promising when I bought it there are no instructions on it. It assumes you know what the terms mean and how to proceed. I find myself replaying the same games. It should have been more upfront that this is for advanced players with experience with the app. I would have bought something aimed at new bridge players.
  • Inconsistent bidding and play Jan 17, 2021

    By Andy on iPhone
Playing duplicate. If you ask for hints and do auto play in the open room, many times the bidding or play will be different for the open and closed rooms. Why is this? Given the same hands shouldn’t the open room auto play and the closed room should always result in the same result? Thanks.

I find it hard to understand why assist is telling me to do certain things. I have become lazy with bidding and feel as though my game is slipping. When I plow through with my own bidding, it's most always a disaster. I think it is a good app, but beware of assistance and know that if you bid it yourself and go down it's not always your fault.
  • Too Many Glitches Nov 7, 2016

    By DebbieWorn
I like this app when it works, but there are way too many glitches that interrupt play. You have to leave the table or quit and you frequently can't get back on the same table. Please do whatever updates are needed to provide uninterrupted play.
  • Good app Oct 26, 2016

Love the interface. Best I've seen. Bidding conventions sometimes whacky. I've turned off "cue bid in opponents suit to show support" and app still does it Worst issue by far: new version 5.4 is incredibly slow playing cards. Especially early in hands. Don't know what to do. Old versions were great
  • Uneven Feb 15, 2021

    By Jlpicard6
The Opponent’s bids are Always unreal. The partner of the bidder invariably will have unusually strong or long support. One of the players will have void or singleton Their finesses work 85% of the time. I have become to just skip over their hands. Having played bridge for 50 years these deals are nothing near the norm
  • Could be worse.. could be much better. Sep 5, 2019

    By Stonyspring100
I use Precision to bid, but your Precision system is too simple and in some cases wrong. One example is 1C-1D,1D is supposed to be 7points or less, but yours can be higher than 7 points. All these mistakes need to correct. And also, even though your app can allow users to modify a bidding system, which is good, I wish you could open to allow users to do more modifications rather than just a few things.
  • Not for serious players Feb 2, 2019

    By Almightygozar2
As a high level tournament player, I gave this a brief look. In five hands, I found numerous errors. Poor bidding, incorrect assumptions about bidding systems (eg SAYC is using standard Blackwood, not RKCB), less than stellar defense. This app might be ok for someone who has never played bridge but I’m willing to bet there are better options out there.
  • Unreliable bidding and AI cheat Sep 21, 2019

    By Pixel pop
Like other reviewers I experienced horrible partner play over a span of several hundred games. Also have detected several occasions where the AI opponents made plays that could only have been made with specific knowledge of the human player's hidden hand. No Goren system availability is also a problem.

I purchased a lifetime subscription an thought that this included assist. Rip off!
  • No Jacoby? Mar 24, 2020

    By Osofloss
I am sorry that I purchased this app. It is so out of date, it does not use Jacoby Transfers which is one of the most common conventions in bridge. It’s one of the first that beginner learn. I have tried to use Jacoby while playing this app and my partner passed me out instead of making the appropriate transfer. This has happened more than once. The creators of this app need to update.
