Buckle Up for a Great Trip!!!
Nov 21, 2021 By CalGirl65This app is a must if you are visiting Hawaii! We arrived on the Big Island yesterday and used the Revealed Driving Tour app and it was fantastic! It really felt like we had a personal tour guide in the car with us. At one point, I questioned aloud where to turn to get to the Black Sand Beach and Andrew seemingly responded and said to take the next turn! I loved hearing about the history of the island and suggestions for diversions. We also got to see things we may have driven right past and skipped some places that weren’t worth spending time on. I am already a huge fan of the Revealed guidebooks and the driving tour is another hit. We’re headed to Maui next year, and I look forward to bringing Andrew along. Mahalo for this great app! more -
Great app

Several months before our trip I bought the book Big Island Revealed and studied it as my official bible of what to do and where to go. I also downloaded the app a few days before we left. It was an amazing compliment to the book. We turned on our friend every time we got in the car. It was like having our own personal tour guide with us at all times. Using the app totally enhanced our travels around the island and allowed us to make good decisions about timing and where we wanted to go. I would definitely recommend the app to anyone traveling to any part of Hawaii. Thank you! more -
SO WORTH THE MONEY
Feb 23, 2022 By foodlovingI balked initially before buying—bit of a steep price tag I thought, almost as much as a guidebook with less content. Boy was I glad I bit. This experience is wayyy BETTER than a guidebook, no looking down or riffling thru pages to find relevant content. The guide has made a career of combing the Hawaiian islands, and these guides are only for Hawai’i. He clearly prides himself in his precision and honesty. Super well-researched and interesting. I was very impressed. Two caveats: 1) the app’s active GPS drained my phone battery quickly, and there is no way to turn it off and just manually tap the points of interest on the map (even while in “browsing mode”). We had to stop along the way to buy a USB charger and have the phone plugged in while driving after less than an hour so it wouldn’t die. 2) there were no points of narration for driving on Saddle Road FROM Hilo to Kona. Only from Kona to Hilo—which made me feel jilted out of half of the content. We manually pressed some of the points along the way (going in the other direction) but it didn’t feel as good. more -

We felt like the author was in the car with us, pointing out things at just the right time that we might otherwise miss. Even if you aren’t planning on a driving tour around the island, this app really is a must have - well worth the price! more -
Made our Hawaiian vacation so much better
May 23, 2022 By GunnerJrThis app is amazing. What a great idea and solid implementation. We have purchased the Revealed guidebooks for every one of our previous trips to the islands. This was our first visit since the drive apps came out and it was a no-brainer for us to purchase. The very first night - we landed at around sunset and had to drive from Kona all the way to our B&B in Hilo. “Andy”, as my wife and I affectionately nicknamed him, kept me awake and engaged the whole drive with his anecdotes and tidbits. After that we were hooked and turned on the app every time we got in the Jeep. We especially loved the gimmick that Andy was in our backseat, just pointing stuff out as we drove along. This app is PACKED. There was way more than we could possibly have seen and done on our 10-day stay. Everything we DID stop for was great - and enhanced by the commentary or tips Andy had given before we got there. Andy - we wish we could buy you that Mai Tai for being such a great guide - hopefully this review is a decent substitute. Thanks for a great trip! more -

Lots of interesting information and stories (one in particular gave me goose bumps!), and it tells you exactly where to turn for various diversions. It was great to have Andrew “in the car” and guiding us along the way (my 88 year old mom may even have had a bit of a crush). We used the regular Hawaii Revealed App for preplanning (with its included trip planner) but the driving tour guide was really indispensable during our travels. So both are really essential! As someone said above, bring your USB cord so it will play on the radio and so your phone will charge along the way! more -
A MUST have for any big island trip

There’s so much to see…this app points out things you will otherwise miss! I liked so much about it- - info about places to see/stops to make/things to do -suggestions as to when to fuel up with gas/food if you’re entering a rural area where amenities aren’t easily found. - different info depending upon which direction you travel on the same route…makes return trips more interesting. - how to find hard-to-find beaches - which roads are 4WD only -which sights can be skipped - aren’t really worth your time. - historical/factual anecdotes and stories It’s like having a local islander right in your car. Highly recommended! Strongly encouraged! We also bought the Kauai driving tour app, and happened to get lost on a poorly marked/maintained trail while hiking in Waimea canyon area. The GPS on the app is great…we found our way back on to the trail using it. So glad we had this app! more -
Unbelievably interesting!

We sometimes are exhausted by the amount of driving needed to experience the entirety of the island but the audio tour was so captivating (and really funny at times), we wouldn’t have minded adding a couple extra hours to our trip. It is fascinating to learn how much you don’t know. I would absolutely recommend this to visitors (and locals!) who are interested in learning while they explore. Will definitely be purchasing the other locations when we are lucky enough to visit again! more -

With this app, we just started driving and Andy gave us a tour that slowed us to turn off in side trips or not. Just get in the car and start driving in a direction that interests you and you’re off for a great day. This made the difference between doing and seeing vs paralyzed by indecision!!! Thank you, Andy! We are seeing and learning so much and not spending our time worrying about what we’re not seeing. Kudos on your celestial navigation discovery. more -
Excellent tour!

We spent 5 days at a resort in Waikaloa, which was relaxing and lovely but very expensive. Then we spent 3 nights north of Hilo in the Mahana House B&B, which was the perfect home base for exploring volcanoes, farms, and beaches. We especially loved the history & stories that we would have missed without the app. Next time I will plan using the app & guidebook and skip the resort. Thanks for a great guide! more

Excellent tour!
May 19, 2022 By MimiDianeOur first ever trip to Hawaii would have been intimidating without this app. We had the guidebook as well, which helped us plan ahead. We spent 5 days at a resort in Waikaloa, which was relaxing and lovely but very expensive. Then we spent 3 nights north of Hilo in the Mahana House B&B, which was the perfect home base for exploring volcanoes, farms, and beaches. We especially loved the history & stories that we would have missed without the app. Next time I will plan using the app & guidebook and skip the resort. Thanks for a great guide! more

What’s Groovy
We have been fans of the revealed book series so when I saw they had an app I bought it thinking it was the book in an app form. (My bad as I should have read the description). Once I realized what it was I wasn’t planning on using the app, but on our first drive from the hotel to Kona turned it on. We were completely blown away by the detailed information and the narration style. We used on every drive, every day on the island. Even the kids loved it. Totally worth the money spent.
One suggestion I would have is to make the points bidirectional, the first time we drove on the saddle road was from Hilo to Kohala and didn’t get to hear about the road till we did the reverse the next day.
