Great Apps for Children's Book Authors
Is it your dream to become a children's author? We're sharing with you some apps that may help that dream come true.
When I was in second grade, my teacher at the time, Mrs. Kennedy, said that I would be a writer. It's now more than 40 years later, and along with writing for the Internet, I also have two children's picture books published. I also am working on a young adult fantasy novel.
If it's your dream to write children's books and start a business, the good news is that some apps can help you on your journey. The first one I suggest is an app like Evernote. You may not always have a piece of paper and a pen with you, but the chances are that you have your phone or tablet with you everywhere you go. This app helps you jot down your ideas no matter where you are.
Now, back in 2016, my sister-in-law gave me some of the best advice ever. I was always filling up my phone with pictures, and she suggested I download Google Photos. How does this relate to writing a children's book and being creative, you may ask? Well, one of the things that I draw inspiration from is the world around me. It might be a pretty sunset or a cute dog, or even my cats. With so many pictures on my phone, having an app like Google photos can be very helpful. It even groups pictures for you.
Finally, if you are writing picture books, like mine, and you can't draw, then you will need to find someone to do illustrations for you. Upwork is a good place to start, but there are others that you can turn to. Another option is Cartoon Maker if you want to try making illustrations and cartoons out of people or animals that you know.
These are just some of the apps that you can use on your journey to becoming great at what you love doing. Good luck and don't give up!

This app basically forces you to get creative; it's game-based and gives you a series of prompts for story ideas, dialogue interactions and situations to put characters in. Even a quick 15 minutes on this app should get you thinking of new ideas!
