Tired of being fatigued all day? Download these apps to start down the path of feeling energized all day.
When you feel energized it takes so much less motivation to do the little things that make your day enjoyable. While each person is different, I for one find that getting a good night's sleep is probably the single most important step of having a good next day. Obviously, getting enough sleep is important, but there are several factors that play into getting a "good" night's sleep. The first and probably most important step is to stay hydrated. If you are one of those people who has trouble remembering to drink water, download a water tracker app to help keep you on track throughout the day. The next step to a good night's sleep is to wake up during the right stage of sleep. Waking up during the right stage in your sleep cycle will leave you feeling rested and ready to start the day. There are plenty of sleep cycle calculators out there, but I find a gradual alarm or gradual alarm clock app works best. A gradual alarm will slowly wake you up over the period of an hour, so you are woken up in a relaxing way instead of all at once by a brain jarring beeping noise. Waking up right makes life so much more enjoyable.
Now that you've gotten a good night's sleep and feel refreshed, you've got to keep that momentum going. After all: An object in motion stays in motion. I find that my most productive days start off when I can take a bit of time in the morning to relax and get started. For me, Downdog is an absolutely perfect app for getting started in the morning. It features anywhere from 5 minutes to 2-hour yoga sessions that are a great way to destress, exercise and get focused in the morning. If yoga isn't your thing, look for other little things you can use to start off each morning that leave you feeling refreshed and motivated. My roommate swears 20 minutes of reading each morning with his coffee is the best way to wake up. If this is more your style, check out an ebook app. A good ebook app will let you buy books for a fraction of the price you can find them at a book store, and they are much lighter to carry around, too.
The next step to carrying that good energized feeling throughout the day is to eat right. However, the problem with trying to eat right is; if you ask 100 different people what eating right means, you'll probably get 99 different answers. So, my recommendation is just to listen to your body, stick to fresh ingredients, and unprocessed food, and cook most of your meals. A healthy, light, vegetably lunch can be just the boost you need to stay productive for the rest of the day. An added plus to cooking your meals is you get to learn how to cook. Learning to cook is learning a practical skill that you are going to use for the rest of your life, and it saves you money. If you aren't sure where to start, don't worry, there are plenty of cooking apps out there that can help. Some just feature recipes, while others have instructional videos hosted by pro chefs, and there are thousands in between, so find an app that works for you.
