Best Apps for People Who Love Old School Games
Remember the old school games back when you were a kid? They're back, and they're better than ever now on your tablet or phone in app form. Here are a few of our favorites.
Ahh, the good old days. I fondly the days before we had iPhones and Kindles, and even video games. In fact, my friends and I even still get together and play board games. You know, the ones with dice, little pieces, and cards? Yep, we still do that.
Anyway, the good news is that, especially now that we are all social distancing, there are a lot of those games available to play as apps. So even when you can't play with your friends in person, you can challenge them to a game of Scrabble, Yahtzee, or even Uno. And let's not forget everyone's favorite (sarcasm font for some) game, Monopoly.
Now, I don't want you to think I'm dissing the video games. I'm not. I grew up with Colecovision and Nintendo systems. The good news is that many games that you could once only play on those consoles, such as Sega, are now available on your phone or tablet. Not only that, but they're a lot less money. That's a huge advantage in my book!
One of my favorites is Dragon Quest. This was called Dragon Warrior when I played it, but it's the same game. But you can also download some of the Final Fantasy games too. These are just a couple of the options when you are looking for a good turn-based battle to the death fantasy game that definitely has an old school feel to it.
Finally, you gotta admit that you can't get much more old school than playing with a good old-fashioned deck of cards. Now, you could search for your deck of cards that may be buried in a drawer or in a box somewhere, or you could download one or two or five of the many different types of card games on your device.
Whether you prefer solitaire, gin rummy, or even, yep, there's a version of Old Maid. They're all on here and ready for you to play. You can play against your friends, or you can find people all over the Internet to challenge. It's totally up to you.
Apps give you the opportunity to play old school games in a whole new way.

Sega Genesis was THE platform of the mid-90s. Nothing will help you soothe your nostalgia for those times like a Sonic game. Pretty good for kids too.
