Best Apps for Kids who Struggle with Reading
For some children, reading is a joy. For others, it's a chore. This bundle is for parents to help you help your child with their reading through apps.
When I was young, I was lucky in the fact that I loved to read. I still do. But one thing I remember from growing up is having those 33 1/3 Disney record books. My brother and I would sit and listen to them for hours, and we had the book to look at while we listened.
These days, with apps such as Audible, your child can open their favorite book and listen along to the story being read to them while they read along in a physical book or an e-book. It will help them to know how the words sound and how they look. It's similar to those records my brother and I listened to and can help your child with learning.
Now, something else that I remember from my childhood is the book titled "Mitch and Amy" by Beverly Cleary. For those who don't know, these two children were twins, and Mitch struggled with reading. He hated it because he thought it was boring. So he didn't want to do it. It turned into a vicious cycle. It wasn't until his sister brought him home a book that wasn't boring that he found reading can be exciting and fun.
One of the most fun books out there is now available on iPad, and that is MadLibs. Although they don't have one for Android, there is Fun Libs, which has gotten great reviews.
Finally, one of the best things you can do for a child who struggles with reading is getting a phonics app. There are many phonics apps from which to choose, and they can make reading much easier for children.
With a large variety of apps that you can choose from to help your child with reading, you can find a way that works for them. When a child can read, they have a whole wide world of adventures and excitement at their fingertips. No matter what they love, whether it's pirates, princesses, the old west, or wizards, there's a book about it. Just like a writer needs to find their niche, a reader has to find theirs too.
