Best Apps for Exploring the World Without Leaving Home
Traveling anywhere is a bit difficult right now. But with the right apps, you can go places without even leaving your house.
When I was growing up, if you wanted to explore the world beyond your hometown or state without hopping on a plane or in the car, your options were few. Either you went to the library, you watched a documentary on television, or you watched a movie. That was okay because we didn't know any better.
But thanks to the Internet, cell phones, and apps, there are so many ways that you can explore the world right from your couch. This is especially handy during the pandemic because travel is generally frowned upon. Thanks to using something like the Google Earth app, you can visit the mighty Sphinx, see the rainforests, or even go to Timbuktu, if you like. Even better, no long flights and crappy, overpriced airline food. Am I right?
Now, I don't know about you, but I'm a huge animal lover. I have fond memories of going to the Philadelphia Zoo with my aunt a few years ago. We even went there on a field trip in high school with my microbiology class. Unfortunately, there haven't been any trips to the zoo recently. But with an app like explore.org, I can go and see animals in their natural habitats. This app lets you see nature at its rawest with live animal cams. It also lets you go into the sea's depths or to Manitoba to witness the Aurora Borealis.
Finally, I'm going to tell you a story. Right before the final Harry Potter movie came out, I had a movie marathon with my friend and her sister, where we watched the 7 movies over a weekend. One of the things that we did was we looked up recipes from Bulgaria, France, and England, and we made these to eat while we were watching Goblet of Fire.
One of the best ways to explore the world without leaving home is through trying recipes from different countries, like my friends and I did. For instance, if you are interested in cooking some Korean recipes, I recommend this app. However, there are many apps available if you want to try some international cuisine.
