No more Skype or Hangout. Zoom is so much better for video chat. Usually I use zoom from my mac, but in case I cannot be in front of my PC, I can still join the video chat without hustle.

When you are short on time, this allows you to set up a meeting in less than 5 minutes while on the go. You can choose to have a video meeting, or voice chat, and the screen sharing feature makes it easy to pinpoint issues.

Zoom is perfect for a quick 15-min huddle together with the team. Even if other members are from different countries, video conferencing using this app is always smooth and lag-free. You can even share the screen you are currently working on so that everybody can see it.

When I'm hiring someone new remote, I don't really want to share my email address or number to get in touch with them. Zoom is great for its simplicity. You just share the link and you can start the job interview without giving personal information.

Zoom is a must-have for staying social while social distancing. I've used Zoom for everything from work meetings to dance lessons and even family gatherings and birthday parties with friends. You can host up to 100 participants in one video-enabled chat.

Since the coronavirus hit, my friends and I have been playing games on Zoom. We'll spend anywhere from 2-3 hours on a Sunday night playing games like Cards Against Humanity. The ability to record our meetings and games makes it a lot more fun to play.

If you are on a budget, Zoom has awesome free features that can help any UX team conduct remote testing sessions. With screen sharing, UXRs can observe the participants movements on their product. In addition, with screen recording, the team can go back and review the whole interview for better insight!

In order to strengthen the bonds between your team members - even when you're not together - you will need something to communicate, something anyone can access. Zoom is about as straightforward of a solution as it gets and supports as many as 100 participants.

    1. Host high-quality video and audio meetings with up to 100 participants, right from your phone
    2. You can share your phone screen, or send files from Google Drive, Dropbox, and more
    3. The easy-to-use interface makes it extremely simple to schedule meetings and invite participants
  • I really recommend it! It’s awesomely amazing! Apr 13, 2021

By verry good game for kids
Zoom is a really great app I really really recommend it especially if you’re doing online school, Zoom is a great way to do online school and has actually been part of my life now that COVID-19 started, It helped me and made me interact with my teacher and classmates! I really really recommend it even has a choice that you can even private chat to the host and other classmates! You can make a Zoom and you’ll automatically be the host! Once people join you can make those people the Co-Host the Co-Host has the same thing as the host, Just that the host has more advantage in the Zoom can end the meeting, change peoples names, chat with people and more things. Zoom may have some technical difficulties from time to time but it’s all right we all have technical difficulties! Zoom works with Internet as well so you need Wi-Fi and Internet to do Zoom. Zoom can also work on any device chrome book, iMac’s, MacBooks,iPads, iPhones, and I think even more! Zoom is wonderful. Zoom is the best app and choice of doing online school it really just helps a lot! You can do loads of things! You can do everything you can try and do reactions, even you can change your name, To you can unmute and mute, you can also turn off the camera if you don’t wanna be seen you can also share your screen to others which helps a lot! Zoom is the #1 choice best for teacher, Schools and students! Thanks for reading!

This app is very barebones compared to the computer version and barely functions. One of the biggest issues I have is with audio inputs/outputs: it frequently doesn't recognize when I plug in or connect to headphones, especially when changing outputs while in a meeting. The only way to change it appears to be a button in the top left corner, except it barely works half the time, and there's no setting tab to do this like there is on the desktop version. These are really annoying to deal with.
  • AMAZING APP! But a few recommendations May 1, 2021

Zoom is an AMAZING app and right now during the pandemic it helps kids to do school but online! Zoom can also help me see my family when I can’t be there with them. Even if the pandemic that’s going on in the world. I would still use this amazing app. I have some recommendations for this app. I think when the teacher parent tutor etc, is sharing they should have something that can disable kids from writing on the screen. I think it’s kind of annoying that they can do that. The next recommendation I have is there should be a button that can say whether or not there can can be a co-host. I was doing a class and my teacher couldn’t sign a cohost he tapped on the person he wanted to sign cohost but it didn’t have that option. I soon did a zoom with my friends because Snapchat wasn’t working etc. I wanted to make one of my friends cohosts but I also didn’t have that option. Those are some things that I think zoom should fix, but other than that I love this app and recommend it to you! Have good day, thanks for reading!

I really never have a problem with this app. It used to be really laggy and have a lot of connectivity issues but this last time i used it, it seemed to have some improvements and new features. The pop up window was the main thing i was hoping they'd implement and they did. I'm happy about not having to switch back and forth between screens anymore. Pretty good simple app.
  • Great app but one thing... May 15, 2021

I like this app a lot! It is awesome for school or just simply talking to your friends. I love how you can present your screen on it. I have an iPod touch on it and it works well too. You can do this on a chrome book or iPad as well. Once I downloaded this I asked my friends if we could zoom. After a few meets I noticed I couldn’t create a meeting I can only join. This is a not a big problem but you get cool features on your side of the meet if you create the meet and they are really cool. Yeah, I know you can switch the host which I REALLY like but you still don’t get all of the features that you would if you actually created the meet. You can present like I said above but the presenting is a little glitchy. Other than those two things I love this game. I like how you can change your name. Also you can go into drivers mode which means that you hit a button to talk and if you don’t hit the button and talk than people won’t here you. Also it means nobody can see your camera so its great to prank your friends with or just use it like its supposed to be used. If you are a the host you can enable it or disable it. You can also slide the screen to show you certain people. One of the slides is drivers mode! I really like this and I HIGHLY recommend it if you are a student or a teacher or just someone who wants to talk to their friends.

I love zoom because it's convenient and accessible to most but there are a few technical issues that I keep running into. One, it randomly kicks me off especially if I go to another app and it didn't use to do that! I should focus on one thing at a time but I like to multitask and now I can't without getting kicked off the meeting. My other criticism is that if you leave or get kicked out the whole friggin chat disappears (annoying but I accept that). Oh! Also too many bombers but the update.
  • Zoom is amazing!!! Jan 10, 2021

This app is amazing! I totally recommend it. The part that I really like is that the host has control over many things. I like being able to control who comes in and out through the waiting room. It is also helpful to be able to lock the meeting. Being able to mute and turn off the video of you and others in the meeting is super helpful, especially as a teacher. The chat feature is great for people how do not want to unmute. Also you have a virtual background, you can raise your hand, make a reaction, share your screen and, so much more! But, there are a few downsides to Zoom. One of them is people freeze and glitch, sometimes you can’t see or hear them at all. It may just be the internet but, I find this annoying. Second, when you exit the app and you are are still on the meeting your camera turns off. I find this annoying when you are sharing your screen or accidentally exit Zoom. Lastly when the host shares their screen people can draw or write on it. This is so annoying and distracting. I can not find a way to disable this. Although there are problems, minor ones, I still enjoy Zoom. The problems don’t stop me from recommending zoom. Once those glitches are gone, Zoom will be perfect. I love Zoom!!!

If I have bad wifi reception then it can freeze momentarily or become glitchy. But I do not think this has anything Todo with the quality of the app. I am pleased with the easy functionality of zoom. It's easy to register, sign in, and attend important group meetings and classes! It saves you log in info so if you have attended a certain zoom room before, you won't have to re-look up the room #. This is great for me because I am so unorganized most days. Thank you Zoom!

Excellent quality of video calls for both audio and video. Poor user experience otherwise, and despite zoom seeing massive adoption since the pandemic started, their UI has seen few, if any, improvements. Basic table stakes features don't exist or are hidden behind cryptic menus and UI elements. Things that should take one or two actions involve navigating multiple layers of menus and screens. Still the best for having a consistently good conference call, but actually using the app sucks
  • Pretty useful but need to be more controlled by users Dec 6, 2020

For “everyday” practical purpose, it is fine. But there are few things that I would like to see. One is more “set up” feature like allow me to remove “pin” whatever it is. Also allow me to alert the host the problems quickly without have to look through the list of “participants” just today, I discover the glitch which somehow didn’t switch the view to activate participant screen on time it always delayed until someone else decided to participate the meeting. Maybe it is due to Apple, Inc just upgrade my ipad that cause some glitch. I don’t know for sure. It just happen today, in the past it went fine. Also look like there is mid-level curve-learning. And for some reason, I couldn’t consult the instruction manual to help me to figure how the Zoom app work. Update information: there is something wrong with the app in dealing with “spotlight”. It used to be work great till last week where the appear of spotlight always “late” when the participant finished his or her saying for the zoom meeting. It seems to me it only affect iPad users. Need to be fix this. Right now, I’m stuck with gallery view mode to see the current spotlight to listen
  • Zoom on iPad Today Jan 20, 2022

Yesterday I spent almost 45 minutes working with a knowledgeable tech mentor who was helping me navigate Zoom on my hp laptop. We finally reached a point where I could get onto the app and up to the point of "Join a Meeting." However, in trying to connect with my meeting today, after 3 failed attempts to get into my meeting on the laptop, a member of the group called me on my iPhone. He used his speaker so I could at least hear, if not see, the other meeting attendees. I then got my iPad, and was finally able to join the meeting - after having lost a full 45 minutes of the meeting! Not only did I miss a great deal of valuable conversation and information, I was lagging behind and trying to catch up the rest of the time! This is untenable! It is frustrating and maddening to be unable to connect with the others through Zoom! It is my understanding that another avenue of connection is being sought. I can only hope that it will be more effective, because due to Covid restrictions, we are at the mercy of technology, and must meet virtually. I plan to try to speak to a Zoom representative today who can hopefully assist me to be prepared for next week's meeting - using my laptop. Who knows what will come of that, or even if I can make a personal connection? We shall see - Allegra Yancey

Malfunctions with bluetooth headset. Won't stay attached to headset's microphone, and headset's speaker sometime attaches at some crazily low volume and can only be fixed by turning the headset off and back on. (And yes, it's a zoom issue, not a headset issue... we just spent thirty minutes testing scenarios.) And just the basic fact that you cannot (and never have been able to) mute and unmute yourself by touching play/pause on the headset is ridiculous.

Drops meetings during break group transition due "unknown errors". Meetings less stable than MS Teams (you have to WORK to be worse than Teams). UI hides controls in non-obvious ways (use LONG-press to see mic and camera controls, regular tap is image/video zoom-in). Basic UI controls (like mic mute) should be EASY and OBVIOUS to access (image/video zooming should not take precedence over basic controls).

I would've been a 5 star review but lately Bluetooth devices only work if I connect them before joining the meeting. Even when I do that there are a number of bugs that can cause the meeting to stop playing through the Bluetooth device. This is very frustrating. It is not always practical to leave and rejoin a meeting, just to get the app to cooperate with my Bluetooth audio devices. This is very basic functionality and it astounds me that a company such as zoom is incapable of fixing it.

App uses non-os settings for volume, ignores dnd, ignores screen rotation preferences. App volume slider doesn't go quiet enough and can't mute. When you switch apps and the meeting ends, every time you switch back to zoom it will attempt to rejoin the meeting. You have to close the app through the OS to have any confidence your not still in the meeting. So terrible...

So so so stupid that this app uses phone call audio (instead of the standard media) AND doesn't allow casting AND doesn't allow picking audio source, so even using Bluetooth isn't an option. It also doesn't support direct screen input methods either (like plugging in an HDMI cable to the phone). Such a joke, especially given every other competitor supports some or all of these.

Fine for meetings but really weak scheduling. For one thing, it doesn't use Android convential "clock dial" time selection, but instead plus/minus increments, so it's 30 taps to change :00 to :30. On top of that, if you change the start of the meeting, the end of the meeting doesn't change to keep the length the same. So it's another 30 taps to change 8:00-9:00 to 8:30-9:00. Kind of inexcusable UI to be honest.

I can't even use this app for basic functionality. It's the only thing that doesn't connect to my headphones, despite it showing connected. The UI is absolutely insane. I can lose the meeting, as in the app is not an open application, but people can still hear me, I can still hear the call. Opening the app again brings you to a dashboard and not the call. It's crazy. Can't silence the hidden call with the volume buttons on the phone. I can't believe this is how this app works .

Don’t bother downloading this app. Just because they send automated meetings, doesn’t mean they could do it again. I contacted them and asked what is going on. And they said “You’re having problems with Zoom.” What a waste of time that was. Not how I want a contraction to look like. Instead of trying to fix the issue and actually reading what the problem was, they immediately blamed it ALL on Google and threw it right back at me. When contacting them the second time, I explained to them, again, what the problem was. Hey, it’s THEIR web site issue, not a Google issue. Very inelegant and decentralised, they try to make the best out of it. I contacted them a third time (which actually was a 3rd email) and they pay for Google’s fault. Not cool. Absolutely decent. Some service you have. Zoom is notoriously cheap and treats its employees. No wonder they treat viewers the same way. They don’t want to fix the problem anyway. And to have a nice day. Their answer to me “same to you!!”. Wow, guys. So don’t even bother downloading this app just because they have attorneys. Lets hope your paying attention Zoom.
  • Not business friendly. Sep 30, 2021

    By Blahbadeeblahblahh
This is the worst meeting platform for businesses with 1,000+ employees at mass scale. The integration is poor. Zoom developer team has failed to think of user experience for business users. Business users are too busy to type in passcodes three different times, between call-in versus app voip, and mobile to computer. We’re all too busy and running around and can’t be in front of our computer all day to log into a call or wait to be admitted. We need to be on time for meetings and jumping from one call to another and the time it takes to go through the zoom security protocols between phone or computer is time lost for all the meetings we’re trying to attend at the corporate level. This app has failed to meet our business demands. This company needs to learn from the Webex platform that has seamlessly integrated into our business environment. This review also goes on our company intrasite which will help guide senior leadership in rethinking the value of this investment. Which, (fingers crossed) they will realize was a BIG mistake and we will be returning to a more business focused platform.

  • Our entire district uses Zoom Apr 24, 2021

The mobile app gets 5 stars because it is smooth and easy to use. Sometimes I have to Zoom on my iPad when I teach so that I can free up my laptop. Also, my laptop tends to get a lot slower and sometimes glitchy when I use the desktop app on Windows. But that’s a different conversation. Anyway, I teach in a huge school district that has declared Zoom its official conference platform for remote teaching. This started in March of 2020 when we returned to teaching during the initial Quarantine. I was concerned about security at first, but then the company really upped its game since the whole world turned to remote teaching with not just security measures (due to bad press), but they removed the time limits for educators. It also seems like updates continually happen, and I am pleasantly surprised when I log in and see the spiffy new look and features. The only request I have is to create the ability to use breakout rooms in the mobile app. This is sometimes a necessary feature.
  • The great app Mar 31, 2020

This app is awesome because I can chat with my friends when ever I want. And you can make someone else host if you don’t want to be host. But the part that I really like is that if you are host you can mute everyone and turn their video off! And you can have a virtual background, you can volunteer to be host, and if the host mutes you, you can unmute yourself. You can also write a message to everyone. And my personal favorite part is that you can see as many people as you want. You can also turn audio on and off when ever you want. But one thing is that sometimes people’s screens freeze or you can’t hear them very well or there voice stutters. Another one of my favorites is that you can change your zoom name. But one thing that confuses me is that the app is called zoom. Why is the app called zoom if the app is for video chatting. Anyways, those two issues certainly don’t stop me from giving this app a 5 ⭐️review. And all because of this app I can chat with my friends every day. So I definitely recommend getting this app!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoy this application more now than previously, it's improved. Not a whole lot different, but it runs smoother and the interaction is simpler and more fluid generally. It can still only really be used for meetings you may want private, but nothing super confidential for security reasons, ie I wouldn't put your bank account information or things like that out here, but it works for some things, like seeing distant relatives, church, even perhaps casual business meetings &/or trainings.

Jesse Took me on a beautiful and powerful adventure to recognize my inner child and what she wants which is joy and love and curiosity and learning. I feel so loved and so strong and powerful after this adventure with Jesse. I will step forward and talk to a particular man in the community and let him know what my dreams are. They are to create a loving space as in a Humane Society to help all of the animals in this community who are not taken care of and loved. I want to create a no kill shelter and to aid me in doing this I will need to communicate with the community and let them know how powerful they can be to help these animals and to love them and care for them. I will be able to communicate with our city Council as to why we need money to obtain the nurturing and care for these animals. We are the entities who have the responsibility and are in charge of all the animals on the earth and we need to do things in a very loving and humane way. This recode session was fabulous and I am so grateful. Love and Light to ALL 🥰♥️🌞🌝💖 🐶🐈🐕🦚🐐🐎🦜🦮🐓🦃🐖🐏🐾🐾

Zoom has helped me stay in contact with friends, family and associates in a more personal way while staying safe and unfortunately apart thru this pandemic. It has given so many of my friends the same opportunity to stay in touch and speak while seeing the others not just hearing if wanted. The options to turn off the camera or mute microphone allows me to stay as open or as private as I need to at each zoom meeting. Thank you zoom ♥️

What a wonderful way to be together virtually with so many family members, friends and classmates! I love hearing their voices and seeing their faces and home projects, including knitting, cooking special dishes, gardening and children’s artwork. It’s especially uplifting to enjoy virtual parties and classes together. Thanks so much for enabling everyone with a smart phone, tablet or computer to connect so meaningfully with others during our stay-at-home isolation during this apocalyptic pandemic. Your amazing free technology is a reminder for me to send more cards to sick friends, to telephone those who do not have smart phones or computers and to thank all those I meet who work in grocery stores and pharmacies to serve our needs basic needs. Also, I feel the need to send emails of appreciation to celebrate our brave medical workers, out diligent and truthful elected officials, scientists and journalists as well as emergency and civil service agencies and companies all working to protect our nation and fight COVID-19 and the economic havoc in its worldwide wake.

The Mid-Nite has helped me so much. Here in Massachusetts, nothing is totally open for Aa meeting. I can’t talk to friends and family. Just my 3 daughters. Thank God for them. Also the treatment center I went to in Delray Beach Florida. Reco. The best thing I ever did. Great support system there and with Mid-Nite. I have severe insomnia. I stay on for most of them all night. I feel very lonely. I live alone and have ptsd. I know I am not supposed to fear. I did my steps. I do meditation and other tools that Teco taught me. Being with you all stops my fear that someone will come in my apartment and attack me. After I am done with your meeting I feel back to safety. I don’t know what I would of done with out you. I have 10 months sober. Thank you so much for continuing your zoom meeting. 🙏🏻🕯🌻. I tell everyone at my zoom meeting at Reco about your meetings Incase at night they need to talk. I highly recommend it for everyone! All ages! I love it and very grateful to all the host, volunteers . Please never STOP! Your great Mid-nite

Thank you for being the company you are and fir making the isolation bearable because of all the nuggets of nourishment about Jehovah God, His Kingdom and His son, Jesus Christ who died for all of faithful mankind. We have the commemoration of Jesus Christ’s death coming up so if you get a letter and you would like to attend just reach out to the person who sends you the invitation and they will give you the meeting information fir your area. Your app has allowed many of us to join meetings in other states and country’s we would not normally get to visit and hear the spiritual food. Thank you and keep striving to enabl people to come together. La Vonne

    By ArtsyAnimalCrafter

So I’ve been using Zoom for school because of the pandemic, and it’s good compared to other programs yet I do have SOME complaints, none of which having to do with my hate of using it all the time now. It’s great for having the meetings, but it overheats my phone if I use the mobile app way more than other video call apps and programs. I’ve also had to use the Chromebook version because my school provided that, but it’s way more laggier than PC or mobile. Chromebook also has a lot less of the features such as backgrounds and recoding the meeting as a guest and doesn’t feel as professional I think. For the entire program, app, Chromebook, and all, I think it’s great. Covid is keeping me online until, with the rising cases here in the US, most likely March at soonest if my school allows me online that long, it’s amazing. My sibling uses two other programs, one of which I used last spring in 8th grade, and when I compare Zoom to the two he uses Zoom is automatically the best of the three. It’s super professional for most versions of it and I think that for the covid pandemic it’s one of the best options I think.

I love doing zoom Bible studies and classes. But I have trouble getting my video on. I don't like the white avatar. I'd rather have one of my photos or me on the video. There is too many different ways to have your video displayed. The tech should be easier than it is. There are too many options and if not paired right, you end up with a live video and the photo at the same time. It's impossible to get it corrected 😕 🙄 😐 😒 🙃 Please make it simple because no one has the time❣
  • Zoom is great, but needs presentation features and note taking features updated to get full value Oct 25, 2021

    By randompasserby6
Hello! I am a college student that switched to online learning during the pandemic. All of my professors use zoom to present, for lectures and meetings, and for office hours. Zoom has made attending all of my classes more convenient. However, one improvement that I would like to see is the note taking feature. My professors tend to lecture on zoom and use its features to draw graphs and take notes. However, they have to cram things in because there is a limited area to write notes. Also, their notes tend to lag and come out messy. I think that if there was 1) a feature to automatically draw lines and shapes, like the features found on note taking apps such as onenotes, notability, and iCloud files, and 2) a wider writing area, then presenting and lectures wouldn’t be so difficult and copying notes would be more continent. Also, with these features being included, more professors would not be so hesitant with switching to modern and new styles of teaching. Their classes would become more enjoyable and comprehensible.
  • Updated: Continually needs deleted/reinstalled on iPad Pro Sep 5, 2020

Updated review Sept. 5, 2020: I have figured out a workaround to my problem. This app does not handle “Sign in with Google” well when a corporate account is being used. The workaround is to remember to SIGN OUT of the app before you close it, then the next time the app is opened you go through the two-step sign in process again. The app always asks for permission to sign in with Google, so I’m thinking this is what the app is not handling correctly? Can’t the app be made to remember the prior authorization(s) when opened? -1 star for this inconvenience. — Two stars because it works as hoped when it works. New 2020 iPad Pro 12.9”, bought for use with teaching this fall and Zoom support. App will only work when first installed from App Store and signed into my district account. When a new Zoom meeting stopped and app closed, later opens to spinning wheel on iPad and will not allow joining a new Zoom meeting, etc. App needs deleted and reinstalled from App Store to open again correctly. Will update review if app fixed or iPadOS starts playing nice.

Been using zoom for 5 months on a cell phone. Pros: Mute option. Screen shows 4 people at a time (swipe left to see more people in the group). Cons: Can be challenging to hear even when volume is on max and group members are using louder speaking voices. Sound cuts in and out if more than one person speaks/makes noise at the same time. If you need to take a screen shot of the meeting while it happens, the current running time/length of the zoom session disappears and is not included in the shot.

I've used Zoom to contact my internet friends over the course of pandemic. However, I don't think I'll be using the app or service much more with the new 40 minute limit on 1:1 calls. Having to rejoin constantly like that is such a huge negative for my friends and I, especially when we've previously fallen asleep and woken up to one and another's presence. Falling asleep and waking up to see my friend is not here to comfort me, only to find out about the new update was truly devastating.

Usually works OK on my phone, but after the latest update it sometimes does not show the menu that allows me to not show my video in gallery view. The menu just shows chat and lots of emojis. Do you have any plans to increase the gallery images to 6? I can see more people on a PC but the connection tends to be weak. It worked for a while, but has happened all this week

Pretty decent app! But i always have an issue connecting to the bluetooth in my car. Mainly, when i take a phone call & then go back to the zoom, the audio will not switch back. I have to log out of zoom, log back in, and then it may connect again. Im using a galaxy s10. 8Mar22: now it freezes after a few seconds, kicks you out, then brings you back, just to do it all over again.

Okay, so I had to get zoom because the device I was using died. But overall it’s fine, but for the mobile devices when our teacher shares the screen, we can draw on it and not on the computers! Also it’s glitchy, and the fact is that I have to use it for a while now. I’ve been seeing ppl but one star cuz they want this app to be deleted, but I think it’s good for non school purposes like contacting your friends who have a different phone than u ( ex. Apple and Samsung) can FaceTime. But pls take away the draw button on the mobile version Update: so I had a meeting and when the teacher unmuted us I was muted and a few others and on her screen we weren’t muted! But try harder but still good app Edit: so a recommendation is that the host (if they have chat on) can decide of which ppl can use the chat. (I’m just using random names here) like Tobias can use the chat while Patty can’t use it. (Again no disrespect to anyone reading this named patty or Tobias) cuz this one kid kept spamming me and I wished that he wouldn’t be able to use the chat..

It is an amazing app that I use with my friends and family. But there is two problems I am going to discuss and/or need fixing. First off, when the other person is sharing their screen, the screen they are sharing is very glitchy and choppy. That could use some fixing. Secondly, I tried to share my screen but it wouldn’t allow me to so I kind of gave up and went on talking. When I ended the call and went on with my business, this notification that said “Live broadcast to zoom has stopped due to: Attempted to start an invalid broadcast session” every where I clicked. If I went on my browser it popped up. If I put in my password to my device it popped up. If I went on anything on the same device that notification popped up on my screen. I’ve tried to delete the app but even though it was deleted it still came up. No matter what I try it still comes up. Searching up for help doesn’t work either. This is a big problem for me because it’s getting really annoying.
  • Gallery too laggy to use on an old iPad Dec 31, 2020

By Do you really need my name?
It’s a very useful app in this age of COVID. However, with the last update that let you view 16 people at once in gallery view on iPad, my old iPad gets super laggy. My iPad mini is over 6 years old, so it is slowing down. But I’m sure I’m not the only one. I’ve tried to find settings I can change to change it back to view less (like the options on computers to limit the number of videos shown at once), but I can’t find any such setting. I like the concept, it just isn’t practical for older iPads. The app: videos, including my own, and controls lag so much. Even audio is choppy. And when I go to swipe to other pages, it takes a few seconds, and all the videos black out a couple times before it switches. It makes gallery view useless on my iPad. I would much rather use my computer, but I don’t have a camera or microphone there. So if I want to participate, I have to be here, and only on speaker view. And I don’t feel as much a part of the meeting as when I can see more than one at a time

It’s hard for me to believe that after a year of everything being online, the leading video meeting platform still has some glaring issues on iPhone. The biggest issue I have is the fact that you can’t hear someone’s shared screen audio unless you are looking at their screen. If you swipe to look at 3 faces at a time (another limitation that doesn’t make sense to me - there should be an option to see more people in smaller boxes), the sound of the share cuts out. If you swipe into safe driving mode, the sound cuts out. Pull down your notification center or control center, look at your home screen, lock the phone, everything causes the sound to cut out until you return to look at the screen share. What baffles me is that none of these problems occur if only sound is being shared with not screen share, you can hear it anywhere just like someone’s voice This seems like an unnecessary limitation (or an awful glitch if its unintentional) and I hope it gets fixed eventually.

Lets hope your paying attention Zoom.

for online schooling my daughter would Zoom. sometimes, random times of the day, during her classes she would be downstairs. i would ask her why and she would tell me that it’s not allowing her in the meeting. she said she contacted her teachers and they said she can skip but she needs to make up the work. i would sit with her at the table from 1 pm when she got out of school to 8pm once we were done doing work. she would complain on how she needed to be in school and i of course agreed with her. even on our vacation to florida we tried it at the hotel and it still wasn’t working. i would send her over to my fathers house during the school day to see if her zoom would work there. nope. tried multiple ways of getting her on the meetings and it wouldn’t work. this isn’t seeming like our problem. more like zooms problem. zoom works for my husband and i but not my daughter. luckily my other daughter is already in college so we don’t have to worry about that. but still, zoom will be a no-go for me. rather be using facetime.

I was adapting during Quarantine which didn’t hit NW FL UNTIL N States came in spring. I’m in a CAT 5 Hurricane area, new tech everywhere, legal & insurance. Setting up new devices & it’s been a nightmare. I began with church & that was great. Life happened, I came back to it for court appearance for divorce and the updates made it impossible. NO customer support. It’s anxiety horrors. Now I see a fee option. Requested a business email address. Basically my account is lost. I can’t access previous on & can’t create new. Because of this and yes WIFI I was literally on the telephone while my attorney, ex to be, judge & his attorney(s) across the country. This is our lives thrown into Zoom. Not all are in school or business but it’s definitely slowing down my process to get there. I’ve wasted so much time and no help. No support. Sent email. NOT HAPPY- I wish we’d stuck with Skype. Again, also Cat 5 Hurricane and NW FL was NOT a Covid hot spot until very recently. Hope everyone enjoyed their beach vacations after zooming all winter. Now I’m stuck in the house because of it.
  • Zoom phone service lacking Oct 21, 2021

    By The Real Kinson
Zoom meeting may be the go to solution for group video meetings and phone conferences, but it’s zoom phone service barely supports the basics. It’s crippled in part by a lack of understanding of basic telephony concepts such as call waiting, within Zoom’s support staff. This lack of understanding is also evident in this version of the zoom app where basic phone features are not offered and where they ate, the implementation is haphazard. Many of the calling features they claim to offer aren’t complete or at parity with the offerings from companies with experience providing business phone services. It’s apparent that they’ve attempted to squeeze telephone service into their existing web meeting systems. Unfortunately it doesn’t work and only results in a confusing user interface. Perhaps Zoom phone would satisfy the needs of a simple residential or single line small business customer, but it’s not yet ready for a business needing support for more than a few lines.

There’s nothing really that bad about the app, but as a whole it’s not a great experience either. It takes too many clicks to get to the chat, and half the time once I’m there I’m replying to just one person instead of the group for some reason. Also, the disappearing buttons that slide off screen after a couple seconds give me so much anxiety… I’m typically listening intently to the meeting waiting to unmute to say something and do not want to have to fumble for the unmute button, I’d rather it just be there. Jitsi is much better for this and the first time I used it over zoom I realized what a relief it was to simply have the unmute button not sliding off screen every chance it got. And don’t even get me started on the desktop app. It’s a kludgy disaster that’s barely usable from a ux perspective. I’m often appalled at how poor the desktop app experience still is even after all these years. I like that Zoom is encrypted but beyond that there’s much room for improvement.

I’ve been using Zoom almost daily since March of last year. It was working fabulous until recently. I use it on my iPad including my upgraded iPad. My mother in-law in our home uses hers at the same time in a different room and she too is experiencing similar issues: (1) my photo background dropped reflecting my true background; on MY iPad it shows it’s up....but to others it reflects my actual background! NOT GOOD. (2) When I’m called upon to speak...sometimes others can hear, or it comes out garbled, or they cannot hear me at all (3) sometimes while on gallery, it first appears and can see and hear everyone then the entire gallery blacks out as if they are all off video yet can still hear them talk, left with only my video. Then this past weekend, had everybody’s gallery without sound. We’ve been using this wonderful app all year and all these problems began happening within the last week or two. Now using zoom phone lines to call in.

This video meeting app works well enough. The virtual backgrounds are nice, and the microphones and videos usually work the way they’re supposed to. On an iPad, though, you have fewer options then on a computer. The main accessories that Zoom does not allow on an iPad are remote control, (you can move the mouse that appears on-screen, but you can’t do anything else, not click, not select, nothing), whiteboard, (it shows up and you get colors, but not nearly as many as you get on a computer. I would love it if you added a color wheel), and breakout rooms (You can go into them but they don’t show up in the menu). I always use my iPad for Zoom meetings, but I feel I am not getting the full expirence. Also, when you do Zoom online, you can have moving virtual backgrounds, but those don’t exist on the app. If you could change all this, this rating would go up to five stars faster then you can say “Zoom”. But for now, you get two.

I use Zoom for many things now days because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I think zoom is a great way to connect and meet people. I do have a few complaints about Zoom. 1. Zoom glitches a lot, my coach has an account but zoom thinks he has a free account and kicks everyone out at 40 minutes. We pay for an account and we can’t even use it. 2. Zoom doesn’t work for backgrounds and face filters. It says it works, but for me, it doesn’t. I can be in this bad place and I don’t want to show my background. My piers have the same problem. 3. The free account is set up to your name of your device. The annoying thing is, my dad set up my IPad I use for Zoom and named it after a hop used to make beer. Now everyone thinks my last name is that hop so I don’t get allowed into the meeting. 4. It takes up so much space on my computer that it will freeze the screen for 20 minutes at a time, and during that time, I miss important stuff I need to hear about.

I had to use this app for a job interview last week, and it did not work well. I had set everything up in advance, practicing with my iPad, my MacBook and my iPhone, just to be safe. The 20 minute call was supposed to be at 1:10, so I pressed the connect button at 1:09 and got a screen that said “launching”. Three minutes later it still said launching “. So I disconnected and tried again - and get “launching”. Now I’m five minutes late for the 20 minute interview. So I switch to my iPhone which makes the connection instantly, but I only see video for the first few seconds of the call, and the audio is only at the minimum level with no option to make it louder. The black screen kept switching back and forth to one with a green icon of a telephone, still with very minimal sound. So I spent the last 12 minutes of what was supposed to be a 20 minute interview across the country with no video and the need to keep repeating questions back to the search committee because I couldn’t hear them. I may not have gotten this job anyway, but using the Zoom app certainly eliminated any possibility of me being considered for the job.

This is so bad. The user interface is terrible and everything is dumbed down for babies. It is stupid that everyone has to use this for work and school. Oh, and when it says hd video, they mean if you and everyone you know has the best possible internet, otherwise it is garbage video quality. Hey developers, I know you don’t care about your users and only about the money you’re making, so you won’t read this, but would you mind just getting rid of zoom completely so that no one has to suffer through this crap anymore. Seriously, if you are a boss or teacher or want to make a video at all, just use something better than this flaming pile of goat vomit. And don’t even get me started on the pc app. It has even worse performance than the mobile app, and I have a top notch pc. The pc app is completely broken and every week or so it just snaps and I can’t do anything with it. Oh, and to Eric Yuan, the CEO of zoom, screw you, you made 18 billion dollars off of a garbage crappy horrible insurmountably bad video call train wreck.

your system blocked my MacBook Air laptop from using the Zoom Meetings client with a mysterious error 1132. All my attempts to get technical support were redirected to online resources that never mention such an error, your list of errors doesn’t even have this error on it. I think that your quick arrogance to ignore simple users in favor of large corporate clients is disturbing, utterly disrespectful and, frankly, simply unprofessional! Either error 1132 is a glitch that you refuse to fix - which is unhealthy practice for a tech company, or it is a hidden way to censor your audience- which is a gross shame! So, I avoid your service for any business or family affairs, I encourage my friends and professional network to avoid it as well and I am very disappointed in your desire to differentiate who is important and who “will somehow get over” your arrogant attitude. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. Although I am sure you never will.
