Good NFL steaming but in your face opinions Sep 30, 2021

    By Jeff
Why are all of the articles so politically biased? Who cares if NBA or NFL players are vaccinated. Why are your writers trying to advicate for BLM then bash minority Athletes for making their own decisions? This is double speak and looks bad on your entire organization. Frankly, this is an escape from politics but you continue to prove we cannot have that.

I love this app! It is amazing to be able to watch my favorite nfl game no matter where I am! I've seen other reviews stating they have problems with the app, but I never have. I would love to be able to watch NBA on here as well, but I assume that's due to the NBA itself not wanting that. I can get scores, news stories, and highlight videos anytime I want.

Works well. Not a great deal of stopping even when over the LTE network. Awesome to be mobile and watch my favorite (and local) NFL team and the big nationally televised games. Hope this service will continue at the current rate: FREE (with internet connection). Best part about it.

I like the app for free NFL games and for MLB broadcasts. It's a shame there aren't any choices of what to watch but at least you're not shelling out $69 $ 99 or more to watch a few games you like. The app performance is good even with mobile internet on your phone. Even with a weak mobile signal it only occasionally buffers. There's a bunch of other sports and activities for you participate in but I can't really speak to those features I don't bother with. Nice design good quality.

I give this app 5 stars because I know that when the video feed cuts out, it is more than likely my phone and internet connection. I really enjoyed watching the NFL Playoffs on my phone. Especially the Bills stomping a mud hole in the Patriots 😁
  • Favorite sports app out there Nov 24, 2018

    By Bernard Edwards
The layout is easy and quick, has enough articles to keep me entertained, and the BIGGEST plus is that it's the only sports app I've found that shows what station a game is being played. That actually is the biggest separator between other apps. I'm giving it a 4 because stats is a little lacking, not sure how easy it is to bolster that, but it bothers me. Also, I loved when it had trending games. It was removed a while, but it still REALLY bothers me they got rid of it. I used to open the app and see a big college football game was coming up, then an NBA game, then college football. Cool. 3 big games coming on, and what channel they were on, close the app and be happy. Now I have to manually check ALL the games across all the sports. I can see if they never had it, but they did and removed it >:-<

  • Still buggy Nov 27, 2020

    By m527472
I’ve been using the app for a few years, but there is a bug that goes from a version to a version and doesn’t get fixed. The app automatically adds Major League Soccer and International Friendlies to my favorite sports. I remove them, but the next time I open the app, the two sports are there. I tried everything: removing all my favorite sports and adding them back, turning the phone on and off, but every time the app adds the two sports. I even tried switching to a different sport app but I’m used to the Yahoo app and it has decent features otherwise so I keep coming back...to the same bug. Update 2020: In addition to the bugs they wouldn’t fix, the app constantly fails to load data. It became so annoying that I finally decided to get rid of it. I’m using ESPN app now.

  • They need to get the playoffs schedules right Jun 6, 2021

    By keremozkan
My gripe with this app is during the NBA playoffs, the schedule has been (a) slow to update, neglecting to remove series from the schedule if they end before seven games, and (b) incomplete, not showing upcoming series when possible. The NBA's official app, for instance, shows that the Jazz will be playing a TBD opponent at 9 on Tuesday. These are both small things, but they're enough that I'm not going to choose to use this app if I want to look ahead to what games are coming up. What I do love about this app are the box scores. You get full box scores and it doesn't require awkward scrolling left and right to see players' full lines. If they could get the schedule right, I'd be happy to use this as my one stop shop.

  • Yahoo Plus Allows COLLUSION Aug 9, 2021

    By NJacuguy
RESPONSE TO DEVELOPER RESPONSE: I did write to that email address and demonstrated through evidence that there was a very high chance of collusion. Yahoo vetoed the 2nd trade - which was lopsided but not overly so compared to many non-collusive trades - and wouldn’t provide a word of explanation as to why. If it’s not for collusion, then half the trades made would then be subject to veto. The first trade these 2 colluding teams made involved 8 players and the team that got the windfall is now in a virtual tie for 1st. And Yahoo just allows that. It’s a joke. This is a $250 buy in league too, was gonna do $500 or maybe $1000 next yr. Yahoo provides not a word to inform as to any explanation or the criteria used to assess trades. Have been using Yahoo Fantasy Sports for 20+yrs but this is my last. In a $250 baseball fantasy league and 2 owners - one of whole was in dead last both times - made lopsided trades that favored one. That owner went from 8th to first. The second trade - which was imbalanced but not much more than a typical lopsided trade - was vetoed by Yahoo. Yet they’re not disqualifying both teams even though one team already reaped the benefits of the first trade - an 8 player one - and they’re almost certainly gonna do shenanigans again. Was considering $500 or even $1000 leagues next year but never gonna do Yahoo pro again.
  • Fixing Something That Wasn’t Broken Apr 10, 2019

    By Eriahd
Yahoo should have just stayed with the old design. The layout is worse than before and there is no longer smooth navigation through the app. If you click on a game and then go back to the list of all of the games for that night, there is an annoying glitch that moves the page so you end up clicking the wrong thing and you have to wait for the ad to pop up to be sure to avoid the mistake again. The ad that pops up at the top of the screen pushes everything down, but it pops up delayed, causing the whole screen to move down. The box scores are lacking some stats, like turnovers in basketball for example while the old version included them. It also doesn’t show if a baseball game went into extra innings before you click on it. It also doesn’t show if it is the top or bottom of the inning. Soccer games are not included with the tv information, which is a bummer. When you click on a team’s schedule, the app doesn’t separate preseason/spring training games from regular season games. There are many little things that add up, making this version a lot worse than before. Looks like I’ll be moving to espn. The app simply isn’t enjoyable to use anymore.
  • 15 year customer about to delete Aug 30, 2021

    By Hank J. Moody
I’ve used this for about 15 years (when it was Sportacular) to stay up to date, but mostly to make weekly football picks. Absolutely love the app and the news that’s written in it. What I CAN’T STAND IS THE VIDEO AUTOPLAY. If I wanna watch a damned video with the news or analysis - I will. Highlights I can find anywhere - I read the news for the analysis. Key word there. READ. Regardless of the setting it is put on, videos (or rather the ads that precede them) ALWAYS auto play. Even if I put it on “Only on Wi-Fi” it STILL does it. Even if I’m off wifi. It’s not very promising that a publicly traded company can’t get its major glitches together (this has persisted through multiple updates and complaints to the developers. With the share of the market Bleacher/Report is ever-increasingly eating up, I imagine you guys at Yahoo! cannot spare the customers (lets face it, Yahoo! became a second rate search engine when Google’s engine was refined in about 2002.
  • Absolutely political way too woke Nov 6, 2021

    By Heromark
This isn’t a sports app. It’s an extreme leftist leaning political app that uses the disguise as sports. Proof is they turned off their comments on articles because too many people wee calling them out on their nonsense. Sports score updates as well as in time game stats are very late as well. I think they wait for other sports companies to post their in game stats and then use them. Don’t waste your time. I’ve had this app for years and it keeps getting worse. I’m deleting it. Also, look at then negative comments on here. The developer response responds when people complain about content. All of the comments about them being too political are ignored. If that’s not proof about their liberal agenda, I don’t know what is Update: I tried giving them another chance, but they’ve gotten worse. Their articles are so grossly politically slanted. Just stick to sports and leave politics out of it. I’m deleting again
  • Add a “history” news section and fix sign in May 24, 2019

    By OrgandBlkMan
OMG. I can’t take it anymore. I’m posting so maybe this will get heard and fixed. First off almost every time I get a notification of an article and I go to click it, I get either a completely blank screen or the title but no article. I can see the “back” arrow displayed but once I give up waiting for the article to load I CANT FIND IT AGAIN. Give us some sort of news search option or a “history” section so we can see articles that failed to load. Second thing is I just tried commenting on an article for the first time in a long time. It asked me to confirm my mobile device. I did and then it sent me back to a prior article. I got back to the article I wanted to comment on. Had to redo the sign in process and it repeated the same thing that happened the first time. Garbage.
  • More Politics and Terrible App Sep 30, 2017

    By wathan99
This app continues to get worse with every update. It’s getting harder to find the news stories I want to read and despite getting alerts for stories, when I go to find them, I can’t. The other thing is that I’m realizing that Yahoo is getting extremely political and it’s definitely leaning to the left. Now, before all the Liberals chastise me, I am a moderate and don’t align with either party. I am also a Veteran and mindful of how little either major party truly cares about the people they “serve”. Having said that, I used to follow sports because they kept politics out of it. Now, it seems that I can’t get away from politics. As a result, I have deleted this app. As a Veteran, I have a right to disagree with how this app is being used to pursue a political agenda and I will refuse to download it unless major changes are made.
  • Please fix the videos Automatically playing! May 12, 2021

    By RoughRomance
I loved this app. I’ve used it for many, many years. Still do, but you have to do something about the videos in the articles. The videos at the top of Every. Single. Article. I have auto-play switched off in the app settings, yet every single time I open an article, the video plays! If you pause the video and are scrolling through the article and switch to another app, then return to Yahoo Sports and your article, the video starts playing again! So now I have to scroll to the top and stop the video again. I lose my place on the article and get so annoyed I close the app and read it somewhere else online. Fix this please.

The app no longer works on my Chromebook after the last two updates. Games will not load, stat pages only upload halfway. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, updated multiple times, signed in and out and nothing has remedied the problem.

Yahoo Sports app is awesome!!! Now with all the games streaming live FOR FREE, it’s definitely going to make other sports live streaming services think twice about having people pay for what Yahoo Sports is doing. Working overseas puts a limitation on what you can see from back in the states. But with this app, it helps everyone who is doing their part to serve our country (both civilian and military) to feel Ike they have a piece of home with them now that they’re able to see the games live wherever we/they are at. Good job Yahoo!!!

  • This app is wonderful! Sep 10, 2018

    By sarahtonin16
It gives me updates faster than other apps, and it’s not clogged with ads. The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because after the latest update, the notifications are having problems. They keep getting cut off (like the team name might not completely show). I have bigger/bolder text on my phone, but even with that, the notifications never seemed to be an issue at all. Which might not be a huge problem, but I use the notifications for score updates and such, since I can’t always have the app open or watch/listen to the game.
  • Need to fix. Used to be good Apr 18, 2018

    By MansonsMom
Takes forever for scores and schedules to load. So annoying! this app used to be great. Now I always have issues getting scores/schedules. All my other apps work fine. I have a brand new phone with great service provider - it’s gotta be the app. *update* after this review the developer contacted me about the issues. It’s not fixed- but the fact that they read reviews and try to improve has me feeling good about yahoo sports again. I’ll keep checking back to see for improvements. But good on them for at least reading feedback from the people using the app. :)
  • Stop sending adds as “notifications”. Oct 5, 2018

    By Typical Outlier
Until recently this app was perfect. I use it often and rely on it for scores, news and relevant info. It was one of the first apps I downloaded when I purchased my first iPhone years ago. I don’t know if some policy changed with iOS 12 but I receive adds now masked as “notifications”. Stop this BS. Stop. It. Stop trying to ruin everything in the world with additional income streams. If you can’t afford to run the app, cut something irrelevant or unused. I do not want adds as “notifications”. I DO want relevant notifications on my favorite sports and teams. Learn the difference.
  • Best app for sports but could be improved. Dec 19, 2021

    By Donovan Harden
The app can be buggy at times. If your location is off and you enter the app to watch a game, it’ll tell you to turn it on. However, when you re-enter the app with your location turned back on, it’ll sometimes still not let you watch. The solution to the problem is to delete the app and reinstall. Another issue I run into is that sometimes the app just has connection issues. Even if you have good coverage. App is great but needs some bug fixes.
  • Great App, one lingering bug Jul 11, 2019

    By Pizzertron
The app is great and works very well! My (iPhone 8) one issue is that when I get a notification that links to a story, I’ll touch the notification which opens the app to the story and things load/display great, then all of a sudden the text of the story disappears. Nothing I do seems to bring it back. I have to try and find the story by navigating to the section of the app that lists it, select it there and then things are fine. Only time it’s an issue is when I touch the notification. Fixing that bug would be amazing! 🙏
  • Great app minus pop up ads in articles Jan 17, 2022

    By Mmmmmmmmbutter
This is my go to app for sports. Simple for scores, shows live games, easy to track etc. Great app overall including the news articles. Biggest issue is that the news articles are pulled from sources all across the country (not a bad thing). But when you click on most of the articles, there’s like 10 pop up ads even on iPhone. They take over the screen and you can’t even read the dam article. Super annoying.
  • Auto playing videos with sound Jan 8, 2020

    By googoo252
This was a great app, but the other day it started auto playing videos with sound embedded at the the bottom of stories. This is too obtrusive. Please stop it! Update: After a prompt reply from the developer, I checked the app settings, and auto play had been enabled. It must have been set by a recent update because I certainly did not set it. I turned auto play off, and everything is better. I am raising my rating back to four stars.

I wanted to watch the Pacers play tonite since Victor is coming back tonite since he injury our cable provider doesn’t give us the station that show the games on switch is extremely unfortunate I would love for yahoo sports to start showing pacers games through the app has well has the colts games and other games has well behind just two games!

Generally I like the southwest works pretty well, but I just noticed that at least in the NCAA basketball, it does not show my favorite teams unless they happen to be in the top 25, and even then sometimes not. No matter what conference you select, your favorite teams should show up at the top of the list, as they do in baseball and other sports. Or is this an oversight? When Illinois was in the top 10 their schedule showed up on the days they were playing. Now that they are out of the top 10, their games don’t show up, even if I select AP top 25 as the scores I want to see, and Illinois IS in the top 25. WTH??
  • Awesome for streaming Aug 28, 2020

I use this app to stream live football (not soccer) games, but if I wanted to watch tons of worthless ads I’d keep watching TV. Please let the “We’ll be right back” screen stay up. I would much rather hear the background music than another dose of advertising that I put up with everywhere else, everyday. Edit: Of course the one time I actually want to watch the ads (today, the Super Bowl) I get the same crap as always. And now they remove all ability to comment to prevent logical and reasonable people from reminding these idiots that no lives matter smfh

I love this app when you’re able to watch the game that you wanted to watch , I don’t understand why you can’t watch local game out of state when there broadcast on Fox network I would love the ability to watch local games when your out of state because it shouldn’t matter whenever you are you should be able to watch that game . Don’t understand why you can’t use WiFi and can have to use cellular services to watch the game kinda of stupid when people can’t afford to waste there phone data .

I’ve been using yahoo sports for awhile now, these days for me to read the news articles it’s like commercial after commercials the worse part is it lags or stops for me to read it real quick. I hope they fix these glitches. The score updates take awhile to load, I was trying to follow the dodgers game 7 for the NLCS and someone next to me with another sport app was cheering about something and I realized my score didn’t upload fast enough so I found out the dodgers won when I had one more out to go. Please yahoo help a brother out!
  • Stoped letting me watch one team Nov 8, 2020

    By TeenMomofTwoUnderTwo
At first I loved the app. I used it only to watch the Seattle Seahawks as I live in the Midwest and almost can never find the games on tv. But after watching a few games I can no longer watch the games live. Which is infuriating. I loved it at first and now I can’t watch my games. I can watch highlights and watch the scores. But I can’t watch the actual games. I can watch any other team which is what really gets me. I don’t know why it did this.

  • Struggling Apr 28, 2018

    By Dnegs12
Up until recently, this was a 5 star app. Lately though, it crashes, freezes, or scores just don’t update more often than not. I’ve tried the options suggested by the developer in some of the other reviews such as making sure I had the most up to date version and even uninstalled and reinstalled, but that did not work. An example would be when I look a MLB score, the entire MLB scoreboard tells me the Cubs/Brewers are in the top of the 6th, but when I tap the game to get the stats, I am suddenly back to the 5th inning. I figured Yahoo would figure it out, but everyone who works there must be on vacation. If the performance isn’t fixed soon I may need to look at a different app altogether.
  • Yahoo please. Jun 29, 2018

What happened to this app?? It used to be my go-to app for my NBA scores and news, but now half of the articles aren't even legible. They just look like a cluster of links without a readable format to them. I mean does anyone actually proof-read the articles before they're put into the app? I'll see an article that is actually interesting only to find that I have to sift lines of links/sources to find where the article actually starts. I'm not saying that all of the news reports are like this, just a good majority of them. I used to think this app was coded better than ESPN's and BR's, but now it seems like it's right on par with them. Hopefully these issues can be resolved and be a thing of the past.

I used this app throughout the 2020 season and had trouble from the beginning with the video freezing and audio going out. Later on it had trouble loading. I have an iPhone X and always keep it up-to-date and always load app updates right away. Even tried deleting and reinstalling the app to clear things up and it only got worse. The last game of the season I ended up having to listen to the whole game on the radio. I emailed yahoo sports and they answered suggesting that I do the things that I had already done to attempt to correct the problem and had no other solutions.

This is a so so app. It has the information about some of the teams I like, but short on info about injuries. Place a feature that lists injury reports for each team, how long they’ll be out and their status. A lot of the stories are old too. Everything revolves around the yankees, Ed Sox and dodgers. Some Small market teams are teams that win on lower budgets, and with rosters that are not store bought winners with high salary players. ******Would be great if when using the "game" function if yahoo would include a sound feature to it. Listening to a game while you're team is on the road, and not on tv would really make the game feature a whole lot better.
  • Getting worse Aug 23, 2019

    By Tazman_OH
First, they can't ever leave it alone. They are always changing stuff to make it worse. Second, they appear at first to have plenty of content, but honestly if it is not a main sport it does not work right. Third, I have to have notifications completely off or I end up getting tons I had unchecked. Last, they claim to give free games, but they are the same you get for free on broadcast television most of the time. Plus if you try to airplay it to your tv so you actually see it they tell you that's not allowed. For what reason!!! Is it free or not?! I will be finding a different sports app in the future.

After downloading, still couldn’t watch a game that wasn’t carried on local channels. In fact, the ONLY games I could watch via app were the same games on my cable tv. Way too much overhype on these apps. Sorry Verizon.....you lied. I cannot watch NFL games on my phone. Only “Selected“ in my market. Pure Bait & Switch. My next phone service T-Mobile. Deleted app The developer’s response was standard stock response seen numerous times, and yet agreed with my point. App only lets you “view games in respective area”. So why give them access to my phone for something I can watch on tv?
  • Suffers from US-centric neglect Oct 3, 2019

    By Malkamachine
The app might have been rated of higher quality 5 years ago but this is 2019. Seems to be suffering from neglect consistent with Yahoo’s overall demise. The Europa league organizes teams into groups similar to the champions league, yet somehow year after year the product team at Yahoo can’t implement this in the app. Instead all 32 teams are listed in one massive league table. Embarrassing. If you guys ever get around to making that one simple change, perhaps also enable the user to rearrange the order of competitions in the scores view as well? Not hard to do. Good luck.

Can not turn off media autoplay! How stupid is that? Makes this ap useless other than checking scores. If I see an interesting headline, i search for it and find it OTHER than yahoo sports. Pretty stupid sending users to other services.

  • Political app, not a sports one anymore Nov 13, 2020

    By ZoeyZ4
Finally had to delete this app a few days ago after receiving several political notifications in a row. Just so happens they were all on one side of the aisle too. What a surprise! The name on the home screen is literally “Sports” but, if you judged off the notifications that day you would’ve never known. Use to love this app because they do stats very well compared to competitors. Just couldn’t take it anymore. These companies might be surprised to know that some (probably most but idk) people downloading a sports app aren’t looking for politics. I mean, if you’re going to do political stuff at least have an option to opt out. That or change the name.
