  • Fav sports app. Make Apple Watch app! Nov 11, 2017

    By haveatomato
The Yahoo Sports app has always been my favorite sports app to use due to its clean and simple design, ease of use and navigate. I use it exclusively for NBA, as that’s the only sport I follow or care about. They have been great about updating and adding features as needed over the years. I hope they can make an Apple Watch app for scores, so I don’t need to keep using two apps for both devices. And if they do make a Watch app, I would suggest having the ability to just show scores for one league :) (instead of all leagues or just one team)

I think the NFL would be much more popular and loved and respected, if MORE games were available without having to pay for ALL OF THEM. You shouldn't have to pay money when you want to watch your favorite/home team play their game(s). You should be able to watch every regular season game and post season game of your #1 favorite team, no matter WHERE you live in relationship to the region of your team. That's one reason why I'm enjoying this app. Their offering more free games than NFL MOBILE is

How could you not like this app. Free football. At least 2 and 3 Sunday games. Sunday night along with Monday and Thursday night and I have no problem with connection. So far using the app has been easy and performs well. Watching Monday night NFL games has been great. Being able to screen cast would be nice but restrictions don't allow. Add some MLB game viewing and it couldn't be beat. I'm very pleased with the quality of the streaming.

Each time I use the app is seems to re-touch my screen on its own. Like I have scrolled to a degree and it moves by it’s self. It controls where it lands instead of how I left it as I wanted on my own. It resurfaced by itself. Same with some team schedules. I click and it seems to lose its data (idk if that makes sense) it gets laggy or the screen freezes. I refreshed or close the app and start again. It seems to keep crashing regardless. Each update I do, it never seems to get it right or ever gets fixed. Especially, if you’re a Mexican league soccer fan. Their standings never pop up on the app. I wanna to see the future games and it has this bug where I can’t further. Say, it’s September. But, I wanna to see the schedule in November. It doesn’t and seems to go back to the beginning of the season for no reason. It’s a bad habit and buggy as heck. Please fix this problem.

The layout is easy and quick, has enough articles to keep me entertained, and the BIGGEST plus is that it's the only sports app I've found that shows what station a game is being played. That actually is the biggest separator between other apps. I'm giving it a 4 because stats is a little lacking, not sure how easy it is to bolster that, but it bothers me. Also, I loved when it had trending games. It was removed a while, but it still REALLY bothers me they got rid of it. I used to open the app and see a big college football game was coming up, then an NBA game, then college football. Cool. 3 big games coming on, and what channel they were on, close the app and be happy. Now I have to manually check ALL the games across all the sports. I can see if they never had it, but they did and removed it >:-<

The NFL makes it hard to watch their product, I actually stopped watching for 3 years. I tried just buying Sunday ticket but I do qualify or whatever , instead I have to get an over priced satellite package. No thanks. I won't pay for cable either, you pay close to $1000 a year for something you won't ever use, just to watch football. Hell no. Thankfully whatever deal they have with yahoo is working out.

I’ve been using the app for a few years, but there is a bug that goes from a version to a version and doesn’t get fixed. The app automatically adds Major League Soccer and International Friendlies to my favorite sports. I remove them, but the next time I open the app, the two sports are there. I tried everything: removing all my favorite sports and adding them back, turning the phone on and off, but every time the app adds the two sports. I even tried switching to a different sport app but I’m used to the Yahoo app and it has decent features otherwise so I keep coming back...to the same bug. Update 2020: In addition to the bugs they wouldn’t fix, the app constantly fails to load data. It became so annoying that I finally decided to get rid of it. I’m using ESPN app now.
  • They need to get the playoffs schedules right Jun 6, 2021

    By keremozkan
My gripe with this app is during the NBA playoffs, the schedule has been (a) slow to update, neglecting to remove series from the schedule if they end before seven games, and (b) incomplete, not showing upcoming series when possible. The NBA's official app, for instance, shows that the Jazz will be playing a TBD opponent at 9 on Tuesday. These are both small things, but they're enough that I'm not going to choose to use this app if I want to look ahead to what games are coming up. What I do love about this app are the box scores. You get full box scores and it doesn't require awkward scrolling left and right to see players' full lines. If they could get the schedule right, I'd be happy to use this as my one stop shop.

  • Fixing Something That Wasn’t Broken Apr 10, 2019

    By Eriahd
Yahoo should have just stayed with the old design. The layout is worse than before and there is no longer smooth navigation through the app. If you click on a game and then go back to the list of all of the games for that night, there is an annoying glitch that moves the page so you end up clicking the wrong thing and you have to wait for the ad to pop up to be sure to avoid the mistake again. The ad that pops up at the top of the screen pushes everything down, but it pops up delayed, causing the whole screen to move down. The box scores are lacking some stats, like turnovers in basketball for example while the old version included them. It also doesn’t show if a baseball game went into extra innings before you click on it. It also doesn’t show if it is the top or bottom of the inning. Soccer games are not included with the tv information, which is a bummer. When you click on a team’s schedule, the app doesn’t separate preseason/spring training games from regular season games. There are many little things that add up, making this version a lot worse than before. Looks like I’ll be moving to espn. The app simply isn’t enjoyable to use anymore.

Horrible. False advertising. Can't watch nfl games because it doesn't load. Can't even "watch" the box score of nfl or mlb games (all I care to try to watch) half the time any more either. Before you say it, no I'm not going contact support they never help anyway. I've already made sure the app is updated, and I've restarted my phone, and I only try to stream the games when I have between 3-5 bars of 4G. Thanks for nothin. Now I have zero ways to watch my nfl team. Awesome. Grrrrrrreat job. Not

I’ve used this for about 15 years (when it was Sportacular) to stay up to date, but mostly to make weekly football picks. Absolutely love the app and the news that’s written in it. What I CAN’T STAND IS THE VIDEO AUTOPLAY. If I wanna watch a damned video with the news or analysis - I will. Highlights I can find anywhere - I read the news for the analysis. Key word there. READ. Regardless of the setting it is put on, videos (or rather the ads that precede them) ALWAYS auto play. Even if I put it on “Only on Wi-Fi” it STILL does it. Even if I’m off wifi. It’s not very promising that a publicly traded company can’t get its major glitches together (this has persisted through multiple updates and complaints to the developers. With the share of the market Bleacher/Report is ever-increasingly eating up, I imagine you guys at Yahoo! cannot spare the customers (lets face it, Yahoo! became a second rate search engine when Google’s engine was refined in about 2002.

App is great when it works, but for the last week none of the live NFL or NCAA games have worked for me. Every time it just says "Could not play video". Have tried it on both data and wifi with great connection and it just won't work no matter how many times I uninstall/reinstall, clear cache, or mash the "Retry?" button.
  • More Politics and Terrible App Sep 30, 2017

    By wathan99
This app continues to get worse with every update. It’s getting harder to find the news stories I want to read and despite getting alerts for stories, when I go to find them, I can’t. The other thing is that I’m realizing that Yahoo is getting extremely political and it’s definitely leaning to the left. Now, before all the Liberals chastise me, I am a moderate and don’t align with either party. I am also a Veteran and mindful of how little either major party truly cares about the people they “serve”. Having said that, I used to follow sports because they kept politics out of it. Now, it seems that I can’t get away from politics. As a result, I have deleted this app. As a Veteran, I have a right to disagree with how this app is being used to pursue a political agenda and I will refuse to download it unless major changes are made.

Fine if no TV available, but has basic problems. The picture in picture doesn't work outside the app, though every other video app does. There's no zoom option for Samsung phones, though again, every other video app does. Better than nothing, but these seem like pretty easy fixes if any dev cared about the app.
  • Add a “history” news section and fix sign in May 24, 2019

    By OrgandBlkMan
OMG. I can’t take it anymore. I’m posting so maybe this will get heard and fixed. First off almost every time I get a notification of an article and I go to click it, I get either a completely blank screen or the title but no article. I can see the “back” arrow displayed but once I give up waiting for the article to load I CANT FIND IT AGAIN. Give us some sort of news search option or a “history” section so we can see articles that failed to load. Second thing is I just tried commenting on an article for the first time in a long time. It asked me to confirm my mobile device. I did and then it sent me back to a prior article. I got back to the article I wanted to comment on. Had to redo the sign in process and it repeated the same thing that happened the first time. Garbage.

I downloaded your app becuz it said I could WATCH football, NOT just see the play-by-play stats of the game! Time after time, I download apps only to be disappointed by false promises. Why don't you put it down point blank, you can watch these games but not these, or however it's set up so we don't waste our time & get even more frustrated by those who promise only some games or some teams or some nights! Not sure if I'll bother to even keep this, we'll see how Sunday goes!

Yahoo Sports app is awesome!!! Now with all the games streaming live FOR FREE, it’s definitely going to make other sports live streaming services think twice about having people pay for what Yahoo Sports is doing. Working overseas puts a limitation on what you can see from back in the states. But with this app, it helps everyone who is doing their part to serve our country (both civilian and military) to feel Ike they have a piece of home with them now that they’re able to see the games live wherever we/they are at. Good job Yahoo!!!

I had extremely low expectations of The Yahoo sports app delivering me the NFL playoffs on my phone, but the app came through. Watched both Saturday clashes streamed on my phone and caught everything perfectly. Even pulled the game in on my radio to compare how far behind it was from the live action, and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was less than ten seconds off. As someone who has NFL Sunday ticket from Direct T.V. (which doesn’t provide any playoff games), I give a big tip of the hat to Yahoo for coming through...

  • This app is wonderful! Sep 10, 2018

    By sarahtonin16
It gives me updates faster than other apps, and it’s not clogged with ads. The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because after the latest update, the notifications are having problems. They keep getting cut off (like the team name might not completely show). I have bigger/bolder text on my phone, but even with that, the notifications never seemed to be an issue at all. Which might not be a huge problem, but I use the notifications for score updates and such, since I can’t always have the app open or watch/listen to the game.

In order to read an article it forces you to open a web browser installed on your device instead of being able to read it in the app. Ridiculous. Uninstalled. UPDATE: In response to developer: 10% of articles open in app, 90% don't. Also, not a new thing. Used the app for years. Just got fed up. And not a "system settings" thing. Only app to do this and occurs on multiple devices. UPDATE: I'm keeping the original review just for reference. Articles can be read in app, now. All is good.

Takes forever for scores and schedules to load. So annoying! this app used to be great. Now I always have issues getting scores/schedules. All my other apps work fine. I have a brand new phone with great service provider - it’s gotta be the app. *update* after this review the developer contacted me about the issues. It’s not fixed- but the fact that they read reviews and try to improve has me feeling good about yahoo sports again. I’ll keep checking back to see for improvements. But good on them for at least reading feedback from the people using the app. :)
  • Stop sending adds as “notifications”. Oct 5, 2018

    By Typical Outlier
Until recently this app was perfect. I use it often and rely on it for scores, news and relevant info. It was one of the first apps I downloaded when I purchased my first iPhone years ago. I don’t know if some policy changed with iOS 12 but I receive adds now masked as “notifications”. Stop this BS. Stop. It. Stop trying to ruin everything in the world with additional income streams. If you can’t afford to run the app, cut something irrelevant or unused. I do not want adds as “notifications”. I DO want relevant notifications on my favorite sports and teams. Learn the difference.
  • Great App, one lingering bug Jul 11, 2019

    By Pizzertron
The app is great and works very well! My (iPhone 8) one issue is that when I get a notification that links to a story, I’ll touch the notification which opens the app to the story and things load/display great, then all of a sudden the text of the story disappears. Nothing I do seems to bring it back. I have to try and find the story by navigating to the section of the app that lists it, select it there and then things are fine. Only time it’s an issue is when I touch the notification. Fixing that bug would be amazing! 🙏

    By googoo252
This was a great app, but the other day it started auto playing videos with sound embedded at the the bottom of stories. This is too obtrusive. Please stop it! Update: After a prompt reply from the developer, I checked the app settings, and auto play had been enabled. It must have been set by a recent update because I certainly did not set it. I turned auto play off, and everything is better. I am raising my rating back to four stars.

Love that I can watch some NFL games free on this app since I have cut the cord from cable recently, but I'm not so happy about having to shut down my wifi to view some games, even if it's not the fault of this Yahoo's app. The more nonsensical logic is that you can't even mirror image any of the games on your smart TV. Have to watch the games on my small phone screen. Makes no sense at all.
  • Out of market games Jan 29, 2020

    By Aaron Devlin
If you lived in an different state why aren’t we allowed to watch other football games behind just the local games ? I would love to watch other games behind just the local games . every time the games are on sometimes they’re extremely delayed . I wanted to watch the Pacers play tonite since Victor is coming back tonite since he injury our cable provider doesn’t give us the station that show the games on switch is extremely unfortunate I would love for yahoo sports to start showing pacers games through the app has well has the colts games and other games has well behind just two games!

I’ve been using yahoo sports for awhile now, these days for me to read the news articles it’s like commercial after commercials the worse part is it lags or stops for me to read it real quick. I hope they fix these glitches. The score updates take awhile to load, I was trying to follow the dodgers game 7 for the NLCS and someone next to me with another sport app was cheering about something and I realized my score didn’t upload fast enough so I found out the dodgers won when I had one more out to go. Please yahoo help a brother out!
  • Awesome for streaming Aug 28, 2020

    By Loughery175
I use this app to stream live football (not soccer) games, but if I wanted to watch tons of worthless ads I’d keep watching TV. Please let the “We’ll be right back” screen stay up. I would much rather hear the background music than another dose of advertising that I put up with everywhere else, everyday. Edit: Of course the one time I actually want to watch the ads (today, the Super Bowl) I get the same crap as always. And now they remove all ability to comment to prevent logical and reasonable people from reminding these idiots that no lives matter smfh
  • Latest Update...Something went wrong. Apr 2, 2018

By Sick of the TCF app
Is this happening to other people too. Instead of bringing you to the scores you click on it brings you to the app in the App Store? I use the Yahoo Fantasy app for my baseball team. When I am in the fantasy app and click on scores and select a certain game, it doesn’t bring me to the game stats anymore. It brings me here. To the App Store then I have to click “open” on here to access the game stats. Please fix if this is not just happening to me.
  • Slow to see its main function, the scores Nov 23, 2017

    By Azn447
I used to love this app. I used to recommend it to everyone. I had this app since it first came out before it was bought out by yahoo, so I’m kinda torn but the scores take forever to load now. I try to see all games for NCAAB or NHL and it just won’t load. Not even the previous day will load. I think I may have to look for a new scores app. Hopefully they will fix the problem in the next update and the load time will decrease...
  • Autoplay of the featured football game... Nov 3, 2019

    By Giuliani
In the box score section makes the app slow. I have to wait for the video to load before i can swipe down to look at scores and upcoming games. Very annoying. I’m also not a fan of the swipe UI decision to switch between scores, news etc. The app often misinterprets a scrolling motion down for a swipe across. Drives me nuts. Is there a way for you to adjust the length of the swipe motion because any slight lateral motion seems to be recognized as a swipe.
  • Still alright Mar 28, 2019

    By jDizzle8291
I often find things breaking with new releases, but that’s with everything, right? Well, every night when I’m looking at NHL scores and go to the next day, it shows today’s games for tomorrow or vice-versa. It’s not intuitive enough to remember what games are when. Also with opening day baseball here, I noticed there is no inning (top or bottom) designator on the main screen when looking at all the MLB scores at once for that day. Unless of course I’m just blind, which is very possible.

Good NFL steaming but in your face opinions Sep 30, 2021

    By Jeff
Why are all of the articles so politically biased? Who cares if NBA or NFL players are vaccinated. Why are your writers trying to advicate for BLM then bash minority Athletes for making their own decisions? This is double speak and looks bad on your entire organization. Frankly, this is an escape from politics but you continue to prove we cannot have that.

Fine if no TV available, but has basic problems. The picture in picture doesn't work outside the app, though every other video app does. There's no zoom option for Samsung phones, though again, every other video app does. Better than nothing, but these seem like pretty easy fixes if any dev cared about the app.
  • Struggling Apr 28, 2018

    By Dnegs12
Up until recently, this was a 5 star app. Lately though, it crashes, freezes, or scores just don’t update more often than not. I’ve tried the options suggested by the developer in some of the other reviews such as making sure I had the most up to date version and even uninstalled and reinstalled, but that did not work. An example would be when I look a MLB score, the entire MLB scoreboard tells me the Cubs/Brewers are in the top of the 6th, but when I tap the game to get the stats, I am suddenly back to the 5th inning. I figured Yahoo would figure it out, but everyone who works there must be on vacation. If the performance isn’t fixed soon I may need to look at a different app altogether.

Probably would've been a good app to have, but I tried to watch a live Thursday night NFL game and it wouldn't let me watch the game unless I turned off WiFi. It's supposedly a licensing restriction, but not being allowed to use WiFi to watch the game live makes zero sense to me.
  • Yahoo please. Jun 29, 2018

    By Driggity Drank
What happened to this app?? It used to be my go-to app for my NBA scores and news, but now half of the articles aren't even legible. They just look like a cluster of links without a readable format to them. I mean does anyone actually proof-read the articles before they're put into the app? I'll see an article that is actually interesting only to find that I have to sift lines of links/sources to find where the article actually starts. I'm not saying that all of the news reports are like this, just a good majority of them. I used to think this app was coded better than ESPN's and BR's, but now it seems like it's right on par with them. Hopefully these issues can be resolved and be a thing of the past.

Live stream lags on all devices. Extremely choppy making games unwatchable! Recordings, clips, and commercials are fine. Only live video. Here's a fix. For whatever reason, if you keep constant pressure on the screen while watching a live stream, there is no choppiness in the video playback. Remove your finger, the lag comes back. You can start your troubleshooting there.
  • Please fix the videos Automatically playing! May 12, 2021

    By RoughRomance
I loved this app. I’ve used it for many, many years. Still do, but you have to do something about the videos in the articles. The videos at the top of Every. Single. Article. I have auto-play switched off in the app settings, yet every single time I open an article, the video plays! If you pause the video and are scrolling through the article and switch to another app, then return to Yahoo Sports and your article, the video starts playing again! So now I have to scroll to the top and stop the video again. I lose my place on the article and get so annoyed I close the app and read it somewhere else online. Fix this please.

Even with the autoplay video option turned off, every video and ad plays automatically. Unacceptable. Edit: Over 2 years later, still the same. It's like they added the autoplay toggle, and didn't put any code behind it.

Before you say it, no I'm not going contact support they never help anyway.

This isn’t a sports app. It’s an extreme leftist leaning political app that uses the disguise as sports. Proof is they turned off their comments on articles because too many people wee calling them out on their nonsense. Sports score updates as well as in time game stats are very late as well. I think they wait for other sports companies to post their in game stats and then use them. Don’t waste your time. I’ve had this app for years and it keeps getting worse. I’m deleting it. Also, look at then negative comments on here. The developer response responds when people complain about content. All of the comments about them being too political are ignored. If that’s not proof about their liberal agenda, I don’t know what is
  • Gone from bad to worse! Jul 3, 2019

    By 2nyy8
This app was good. But then it went from bad to worse. I deleted it because I couldn’t stand it anymore. The scores and updates are not in real time. The information so late I have already received it from other apps. The notifications are all messed up. I checked off to be notified about information about my particular team. It worked for awhile although it was not in real time. Now I was getting information for every team in MLB for EVERYTHING! Change of pitchers, change of innings, scores, it was so annoying! So I deleted the app. I will find a new app. I know every app has issues but other apps fix their issues Score just gets worse. So, I’m done!
  • Political app, not a sports one anymore Nov 13, 2020

    By ZoeyZ4
Finally had to delete this app a few days ago after receiving several political notifications in a row. Just so happens they were all on one side of the aisle too. What a surprise! The name on the home screen is literally “Sports” but, if you judged off the notifications that day you would’ve never known. Use to love this app because they do stats very well compared to competitors. Just couldn’t take it anymore. These companies might be surprised to know that some (probably most but idk) people downloading a sports app aren’t looking for politics. I mean, if you’re going to do political stuff at least have an option to opt out. That or change the name.
  • Miss the days of missing big plays? You're in luck! Jan 6, 2019

    By KeepItCrooked
If you are missing the days where big plays fly by you due to service interruptions, you're in luck! This app will fail to provide live games only at the most inopportune times, and boy does it never disappoint! It's even invented new ways you kick you off, such as randomly locating you in a blackout area for minutes at a time. Don't worry though, restarting the app or your phone is ineffective. You simply have to wait until the Yahoo Sports gods grant you another shot at seeing your team in the playoffs. What a great deal Yahoo made with your wireless provider! They didn't even have to provide appropriate capacity to handle the demand!
