  • Suspend Play Sep 29, 2020

Good application to monitor and change XBox settings without having to go through the console... One recommendation: Add a “Suspend Play” button / option for the parent to suspend play as easy as it is to extend play.

  • Should be combined with Microsoft Family Safety Sep 24, 2020

    By Phil Wells
I now have two separate apps - Microsoft Family Safety and Xbox Family Settings - that I can use to manage my kids’ access to their devices. I can set app-specific limits in the former, but not the latter. Other settings are available in the latter but not the former. Why have these not been consolidated into a single app that can do everything?

Like the app but the web site has a button on screen timings where you can turn the restrictions on or off for different devices which I use to turn off the restrictions for my boys during school holidays. Would like similar button on the app as not willing to have to go into each day and change their allowance at the start of school breaks and then repeat at the end. For now will have to continue to use website rendering app useless for me personally.

Makes it a lot easier to control kids settings....would be nice to be able to add or remove family members from it though.

Has a few issues with the time frame. I have set times between 4pm and 8:30pm But they are capable of jumping on anytime. Also they can play for an hour and it doesn't register on the app Other than that it's good

The old app was better. I could add money to my sons account, limit time on specific games, and it just seemed to have a lot more options. On this app I can’t do that and the old app was completely changed so now I have to go to some website to change the time allowed on my sons games. I give him a little extra time on weekends so it’s a pain to have to go through extra steps. I’d love the old app back, or combine the two to give us parents those options again.

Settings made in this app are not applicable on other devices. My young siblings can still play freely on PC, tablets and phones using their Xbox profiles. Edit: My custom settings are now applicable on Windows; However, the time limit is not functional for Windows. They can still play even when they reach the time limit. Edit 2: Time tracker does not work anymore and my siblings left the family on their own although they have child accounts. Totally useless right now.

This is much better than the Family Safety App (a nightmare). But I think you must have both apps if you want to manage your kids screen time. Clunky and counterintuitive. Adding screen time should be easy. It’s not. You can only add time in specific blocks. For Instance: If you want 1 hour and 15 minutes for your kid you have to select either 1 hour OR 15 minutes...then wait for your kid to shout from the basement “I thought you said 1 hour 15 minutes! My time just ended!” THEN you can add the rest of the time. Once you select a time you’re bound to it. It’s a pain and silly. This is one example of the sloppy design.

Got xbox, had features locked due to parental control settings even though I'm 23, downloaded this app because I was told that would fix it, can't remove myself as a member despite creating a new adult profile to do this, bad app, very poorly made and managed, then again it's microsoft property so that's par for the course

Doesn't stop Xbox use once the daily limit is hit, only when the daily time range is hit. Also, says my child has used xx hours today with a breakdown that doesn't add up to the usage. How is this app supposed to be useful, when the 2 key reasons for using it do not work!

  • Suspend / Pause button Oct 28, 2020

I know it may not be popular but I need an effective way to get my kids attention without physically standing between them and the TV. Please add a “pause” button for us parents! Great app

A simple to use way to monitor my kids screen time without having to go to a cumbersome website. 5 stars, would limit playtime again!

It is so helpful to just get into this app and into family settings rather than login online. This app has one focus and that makes everything easy! Thank you developer or xbox for this useful app.

Perfect for what's nesessary my child gets only the amount of time allowed no extensions or roll over of unused time. Just like life time waits for no one, it's a good life lesson no matter how unfair it may seem.

Works great except for the fact that if my child doesn't use all of his time at once he loses his time. In other words if I give him an hour and he plays 15min and switches profiles to watch his shows his time doesn't stop so if he go's back to his profile it tells him times up.

So far so good... I sont have to argue for my son to get off . it does it by its self. Just wish the limits could apply to each app not just the whole xbox since we use it for more then just gaming

Please add the ability to change whether my child needs permission to make purchases or not. This is the main thing I use and it’s basically the only family safety setting missing..

Works perfectly fine, as designed. However, significant time options are missing, making it's usefulness limited.

  • Why!!! Nov 15, 2020

    By afvf
Why does Microsoft, one of the biggest soft and hardware developers in the world have to have so many badly managed apps to control a console. Designs it from the ground up, make it user friendly and consolidate it in one app and not a little bit here and there. Poor Managment and control of the products being put out the - maybe it’s time to switch to Sony!

I downloaded the app, but once I go over to the kids profile I can’t use the app anymore. I tried clicking on anything but it freezes every time. I deleted the app and tried again, but same issue reoccured. Please fix this soon
