  • Agree that wyze is going downhill fast May 1, 2021

Like so many other reviews I am reading here today, I have to agree that the past couple of updates seem to have broken features that I had set up without issue last summer and enjoyed for months without an issue. Now, there is always at least one out the three cameras that I own that cannot connect to the network. There is a terrible lag when trying to watch any event notification anymore and I routinely just stop bothering to watch it. I am not all that tech savvy to guess what the issues are, but I can say that it used to work and now it doesn’t. I frankly do not have the time to research all the issues I have to try to fix them or to contact the help desk and all that. I expect I’m like a lot of busy Middle Aged customers who just want something they can plug in and will work, and I’m not sure wyze is the answer for that need anymore. I was looking into Expanding my wyze product usage and, in particular, I wanted some of the smart bulbs for my house. But I think I better wait on them and see if the service improves. Also I have hated the inability to fast forward or rewind from day one. What kind of service is that? I mean imagine having to watch 8 or more hours if video to find out when your teenaged daughter snuck out the prior night. No one has that kind of time

I have been using Wyze products for awhile now. True, there are always pros and cons to every camera/scale/lock/etc. BUT, I believe Wyze is comprised of legitimately good people who are looking to always improve their products and software and options. One of my FAVORITE functions of the cameras is that you can set it to pick up SOUND, not only trigger recording by motion. Which is important to me for my dogs, which is the main reason I got the 360 pan cam to start with. aaand I mean: FREE CLOUD Y’ALL!!! NO ONE else does this. Or you can choose to pay for full motion capture for another super inexpensive fee. Their customer support has been phenomenal so far, but my Wyze band is malfunctioning so I will soon find out how they handle it! Lol but I TOTALLY recommend Wyze over competitors. I have a mix of Wyze, Ring, and Cove products at the moment, but plan to fully switch over to Wyze only as they release products that allow me to replace those by Ring and Cove. Only thing is I haven’t figured out how to use the SD card exactly. But I haven’t had time to hit up their customer service so they can walk me through it. 🤟🏼🤙🏼🔥🔥 ** edit: I scrolled through the “least favorable reviews” and I honestly haven’t experienced a single issue mentioned. I didn’t go through ALL of them but like the top 20 were foreign to me. So maybe it has to do w the kind of phone and or internet you have?? I have an iPhoneX and everything works perfectly for me.

***Updated since the previous comment below*** I was able to download the app the next day and get a camera set up quite easily. Also, Wyze sent a response by morning, which was much appreciated. I explored the app for a while and found it to be quite intuitive. So far, very good! Previous comment: I haven't been able to download the app on my Android phone (Android version 8.1.0). Keep getting Error Code 403. So I haven't been able to set up the V3 cams I just bought. Very disappointing. I gave feedback to Wyze about this, and hope they'll address the situation soon.
  • Notifications need help May 19, 2020

I use the Wyze cam as a baby monitor. It works great - has a really good picture quality night and day. The app frequently loses communication with the camera and I have to restart the app to get it back up. The sound goes out A LOT. When my baby is sleeping I like to keep the app up and running on my phone for constant monitoring. Sound loss is extremely frustrating at night when I’m relying on the app to be my ears while I sleep. I also think there should be an option to change the way it notifies you of sound/motion. Instead of just one quick sound that goes away after a second, it should be a constant noise, similar to the way a phone rings, until you turn off the notification. This way, it’d actually wake you up at night, and you won’t miss a notification during the day while you’re cleaning or busy with another child or whatever, while the baby is sleeping. I have missed so many notifications at night due to this, and I am a light sleeper. There have been several nights where I check the sound log and my baby had been crying for over five minutes before I woke up due to sound loss within the app and poor notification style. For these reasons I’m going to have to buy a true baby monitor for piece of mind and safety.

UPDATE: Only real complaint is that the cameras seem to constantly pick up a lot of static/interference, which then triggers a sound event. Went around the issue by opting out of the "sound" notification & event recording settings. Things have been working great since. Thank you! Was working great until lately. The red dot for event notifications shows up, but there aren't ANY events listed, even though there should be several since I'm in & out on a regular basis. Tried all the troubleshooting steps, but no luck thus far. Installed SD cards in both cameras today, but still having the same problem. Have tried multiple times to send a log file through the "Wizards team," but end up with an "upload failed" error message every time. Please help! Thank you!

It's amazing!! It is a little hard to set up but that's probably just bc I'm a kid😂 it has night vision and it is a little hard to put on the cage I just set it up on top of her hideout (don't worry she can't get to the cord) i have not got to test it yet but its sets up very nice! I really recommend this!! :) oh and the camera has GREAT quality

App slows to load when you have multiple cameras. I have now 20 cameras. My feedbacks: 1) I really wish to have 2X 4X 8X FF/REV fast speed reviews to easily spot intermittent actions in videos. 2) They need to have timeline markings of events/motions so it's easier to spot actions in reviewing videos. Right now it's really hard to review & look for past events from the timeline. Other than that, all other functions are fine. Adding new cameras is easy. Wyze Cam V3 is superior to V2 & others!
  • Amazing - motion Mar 31, 2019

I rarely write reviews - this product deserve a score of 20/10 score . Just incredible for the price and how well it works . Just a couple things that bother me , wish there was an external antenna or really just anything that would increase the connectivity . Biggest step for improvement would be add a grid to the motion detection zone selection as my camera is facing my street oddly and in order to have it go off for my driveway I need to have it in the street and this goes off for every car , if I could be able to individual select each grid box and mold the zone to the geography of my perimeter then that would be amazing. Maybe a louder speaker for the voice and or an alarm tone that can be activated . Would love a Mac version or just app form for the Mac as I my phone and computer are my only devices and I need to use my phone to call etc whilst my computer could stream . other then that I can’t complain for the cost and I will definitely be purchasing more . Definitely needs an alarm option to be played aloud . Also I don’t know why when it records in 1080p to the sd card there are glitches and motion blur like it’s recording locally why should there by a lag in FPS ?

Would like to see the following features: an account allowed to view the camera also have permissions to configure their own events. The ability to swipe left and right between landscape cameras. More integration with google, the ability to cast multiple cameras to Chromecast at one time. The ability to see live feeds for more than one camera at one time.

Overall, I can’t vouch as for the advanced features on this app as I don’t have premium and decided it wasn’t worth it for me. I use my Wyze plug on a daily basis and occasionally I’ll use the camera. Plug features on app: It works fine, honestly. Nothing much to complain about; it does what I ask of it and can be set to a schedule(as someone who needs light to wake up, this was useful). Camera: Again, I didn’t use the complex features but it appeared to work fine. I wish playback for a certain time frame was possible without premium, but alas, that’s the way it is I guess. Sorry if I sound like a complete camera idiot(which I am), but the camera is ultra low res, which makes sense for storage, but if I’m not storing the video, there’s no clear advantage to having ultra low res. Options for users here would completely revamp the camera’s functionality. Overall, the app works. Sometimes. Which is basically all I can say. The app crashes frequently on startup and, while reopening the app typically fixes the issue, it still is annoying and a clear bug.

I’ve cleared everything with internet provider that it isn’t my WiFi, let’s start there. Now, not saying that Wyze isn’t great because when I initially got it, it was. However lately it has been very slow in monitoring. For example there’s about a 10 second delay when watching live streaming. When going back to view playback, it’s always freezing or doesn’t complete the video and stays stuck on 3 seconds of the playback. The quality of the video is grainy and not clear at all. Also sound is all ways off as well and I assume because of the delay, hut when watching live or playback, the sound itself goes in and out even when I know there was sound there. Also when trying to access live stream, it takes more than me having to try three times before I can actually get anything to show up. After failing the three attempts , I have to at least exit out of the app twice in order to get back in and finally have a picture up reflecting the live feed. It wasn’t like this until updates started happening. Could we please get a camera that both shows clearly and is able to have clear sound. I purchased this product to make sure there was safety in my home and now, I don’t feel that my family & I are safe. This is a major issue and Wyze have to make some major improvements. I’m trying to convince my partner not to switch, but other options are looking better and better due to the continuous trouble we’re having with Wyze.

Cameras won't log events, pan cam won't play or record audio, have to be on same network to view cameras, and support refuses to even respond to emails, complaints, or logs I've sent to them. It appears this is the case of getting what you pay for - if you buy cheap cameras then you should expect this kind of service & performance. Learn from my mistake and don't waste your money like I did. Ive tried following your instructions below, same thing, no response, no resolution.

*Now they're shortening the clips to try and get us to pay for a subscription for the full length videos! Wish I had chosen a different camera company.* Frequently freezes or lags picture/app. Camera schedules don't work properly and cameras are almost always off when they're supposed to be on. Says they detect motion/sound when there's nothing. When we actually needed this to record a crazy neighbor harrassing us, it didn't record anything. Complete waste of money, trash cameras & trash company
  • Good for still images and not much else Feb 21, 2020

    By Fager132
There’s no point to having a camera that pans if it doesn’t follow the object it’s detecting. You get an “event” notice that something or someone is moving around a room and it’ll show you that person or animal briefly, but then the camera starts jerking spastically left or right like it’s blindly seeking the subject. I get video after video where the camera just goes the other way and stops following the subject completely while they (or it) wanders off. Even when the camera does stay on the subject it whips left and right so many times that the video’s unwatchable. One of my cameras, which are identical, does well in low light and the other doesn’t seem to have any IR function at all. I usually don’t have trouble connecting to each camera when I try to watch its images, but it’s not a very fast response time, either, before you can watch live video. About 5 seconds. You can remotely aim the cameras, kind of, but they’re susceptible to the same off-center jerking around when you do. Overall these are good for still images but essentially worthless for getting video clips because they don’t stay on subject and won’t stop “seeking” when they detect something. And by the way, there are not multiple people or animals in the room to confuse it. It’s got one subject to follow indoors, and it can’t even do that.

I bought 5 of these cams and at first I was happy. One week into owning them one broke from a short fall off the table. I use iPad 2’s to have monitors in my house but the new update just made it so the app doesn’t work on my iPads anymore. Do I buy new iPads or new cameras? I’ve chosen new camera company because it’s cheaper and the longer I’ve own the more I don’t like it. App constantly crashes and the cameras aren’t very durable. Would I keep the cams if I could still use my iPads to monitor.. yes but with 2 of my 5 cameras already broken I would not buy again from this company. 9.0 and up operating system is not true. I have 9.3.5 on all my iPads and they all stopped working at the same time. App will not open at all. So you respond to my review and you give me a link to the help desk that actually isn’t any help. The bottom line is you get what you pay for.. these cameras are cheap for a reason! Every update there is a huge problem with these cameras. And this last update was the worst you should disclose that updates may cause issues. If your thinking about buying these cameras.. don’t the company is to small and under staffed and with being a very important security camera you don’t want the continuous problems of the camera not functioning right. When something really happens at your home will be the day the camera doesn’t work!
  • Horrible App Issues!! Oct 18, 2020

    By TerriBeachBerry
UPDATE: I unplugged my cameras and uninstalled the app from my phone and had no ‘crashing’ issues on my phone at all. After a few months, I was hoping that there was some kind of an update that had eliminated this terrible situation. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I set everything up and it works/looks perfectly, but with each notification it reboots my phone! HORRIBLE! I gave 3 stars overall (rather than 1), because I think that, that this is a truly excellent product for the cost. I currently have 2 cameras that work great. I read reviews prior to buying and decided to invest in SD cards, which was a great bit of advise. The problem that I have is the APP. Previously it was completely shutting off the WiFi on my phone every time I received a notification. I would literally be in the middle of a phone call - receive a notification - and it drops my call! Repeatedly over and over and over for months. Now, with this newest update, almost every notification reboots my phone - basically like my phone is just crashing. Some times it will just completely shut it down and not reboot. I will not complain about personal preferences and things that I think that this product should/shouldn’t have - for the money, I think it’s great. BUT these app glitches are completely unacceptable!! I am missing phone calls because it has shut my phone off!!

For the past few weeks it hasn't worked properly. Catches sounds all the time & other motions but when I try to watch they're not there. I had 18 notifications and when I open the app up, they're gone. I'm really not happy with my products the last couple weeks. Things just aren't working correctly at all...
  • It only gets worse Oct 15, 2020

    By Kat_types2k
With each update, there is a new problem that arises. After this update, the app has been a mess. When I open the events tab to check out the alerts, it says that I’ve viewed some that I haven’t and vice versa. And when I do check an alert, it does not mark it as viewed like it normally would. It’s always glitching from viewed to not viewed. Also, when I click on an alert from a few hours ago and try to check the playback, it will not run the playback from a few hours ago. Instead it will run the playback only 5 minutes back from the current time. Then I have to scroll through to get back to three hours ago and find the time the alert was sent out. This was never the case, playback would actually play back the time (to the seconds) of the alert. I also have nasty feedback when I watch the cameras live and there is no sound besides the static feedback. The events also record the feedback so it’s hard to hear what’s really being detected as “sound” when the static is constantly in the way. I have the most up to date firmware and app, both don’t get better, they get worse after each update. When they need us to pay for a service, even a $1, they won’t hesitate to email and notify us. I’ve had a ticket number with the issue open for a month now and no response.

It has notification channels, but bizarrely pushes the app running in background notice to the same channel as camera alerts. So to have your doorbell notify you of rings then you have to have a constant notification. This is unacceptable and inexcusable, especially since there are already notification channels implemented. Put the running in background notification in its own channel so it can be hidden without losing other alerts that actually are important.
  • Privacy Policy and forced use of Trial Dec 22, 2020

Your products are in my house. You should not be monitoring my webpages or selling my data. I like the product, but don’t need a company to monitor my internet usage/cookies, etc when I use the app. Why is there a need to collect data to “Personalize your online experience and the advertisements you see when you use our Devices or Services or third-party platforms based on your preferences, interests, and browsing and purchasing behavior;”??? How does allowing a 3rd party the ability to monitor web pages viewed and the time spent on each page make a better camera? I prefer a company that makes money on a great product and not by selling my information. Furthermore, to set up a camera I’m FORCED to accept additional disclosures for a 2-week trial of a paid subscription. I can’t get by the camera setup screen unless I hit Continue, which means I HAVE to accept all ADDITIONAL terms for a service I DON’T want. I do not accept the terms. I do not want the trial, but the only option provided is to accept IF I am to use the camera. I’e has these cameras and set them up when my WiFi changed. Now I’m stuck with being FORCED to accept additional terms, because they’re cheap cameras that have to be set up from scratch to change the WiFi. I’ll be looking for cameras and services that respect my privacy and choices better.

Tried all the troubleshooting steps, but no luck thus far. Installed SD cards in both cameras today, but still having the same problem. Have tried multiple times to send a log file through the "Wizards team," but end up with an "upload failed" error message every time. Please help! Thank you!

I am a mom of 3 girls all under 5. I have bought 6 other monitors trying to find something that worked. I got an echo show and decided to try this product because of reviews and price. I couldn’t believe all this product could do and how everything worked with my phone. I can check in on all three, I get alerts for noise and motion and with one touch I can see them it saves recordings of events. I can watch all my kids in one place. It has amazing night vision and you can control everything. It has both smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. I don’t think you can buy a carbon monoxide detector this cheap. I can also see them when I am not at home and I can see them on my echo show and any other devices I want. This product does so much but the best part is there are NO OTHER FEES. I tell everyone about this product. Thank you to whoever made this product please don’t change a thing, please don’t add all the extra monthly charges. This is the best product I ever bought for my kids. If I could give 10 stars I would!!!!!

Best company out there. They constantly update app and products and now they have a camera that turns any light source to color night vision. And still only charges 23.99 for them. Police protected alarm with all you need to set it up for 59.99 and a year of service. Basically get a year and the equipment is free. If you have a problem they will fix it. All the negative reviews would only require 1 call and they solve the problem. To quick of a negative review. I own about 80% of there products

I have 4 cameras and they have been great. The images are so clear. I love the way the Pam cam follows the target. I love the outdoors cam. Wish there was a better way to keep the battery charge instead of bringing it down to charge it. Also may have a bad power wire on one of my inside cams. But other then that, I have and will always recommend these cameras. 👍

If you’re on the fence about Wyze, trust me when I say it’s worth it! It works well enough with Alexa, though not great. Still, it's fantastic with IFTTT! The quality and auto-night vision are also better than you’d expect. I can only give the app 4 stars because, while it is good for watching a live stream, it’s missing a few features. You can change the quality from 720p to 360p but even the lowest setting the video is still very watchable if you don’t need to zoom in too much. There are several automations to play with; more than enough for any smart homes. The camera load time is adequate at 3-4 seconds, just a tad bit slower than my Nest (which is a lot more expensive). All this being said, watching a playback of previously recorded video is so difficult to use. The way you have to FF and RW is not even close to being helpful in finding a certain event. It would be great if the developers added a “Skip 15 seconds” feature or whatever period of time. It would make life so much easier than trying to use only the little slider in the current app.

Pretty good, but in 2021...EVERY. SINGLE. ANDROID. DEVELOPER. ABSOLUTELY. MUST. INCLUDE. A. DARK. MODE. OPTION. There can be no exceptions, especially if you opted to use a mostly white interface. Other than that; solid app, solid features, and very solid products (I need to buy stock). Don't just pass this along to dev team as a suggestion, it needs to be mandatory to not burn your eyes from your head when opening this app at night. Add dark mode and you get an instant 5 stars. Thank you.

I found out about this through some research and took the chance and got 4 for my house. Keep in mind you’re paying roughly $25 for each one if you buy them in twos. That being said, you get A LOT for what you’re paying for. Good quality but small and lightweight, and easy to use and setup. My only issue is that the camera gets set off every time it detects any kind of motion. I get notifications pretty often and a lot of times it’s because a bug or a bird flew into the view of the camera. I know you can set how sensitive you want the camera to be but I wish it could distinguish an animal or a tree branch from a human body or face. If there was an update for that feature then I’d give it 5 stars. Still, with that setback these little cameras are amazing. I bought 4 of them and one of my old neighbors saw me setting them up and I told her about them. Now she bought 2. I showed my sister and she’s going to get a few as well. My girlfriend works at a shelter and they need cameras so I also recommended them to her because of the price and ease of use.

The motion detection works ok but the response of the pan cam is behind and seems to try to catch up so it real jerky. And the app won't let me see my events most times till the next day I keep getting an error message and that's frustrating since I don't just sit around and watch the camera 24/7 but need to be able to see the events rather quickly.

  • Good for still images and not much else Feb 21, 2020

For the past few weeks it hasn't worked properly. Catches sounds all the time & other motions but when I try to watch they're not there.

The picture is crystal clear, and the features that it’s SUPPOSED to come with sound amazing. Eventually, it could be a great product! However, there is a laundry list of flaws, and the forums will attest to that. For me personally, the flaws I encountered were: dropped streams CONSTANTLY (reliable WiFi, promise), screen timeout after 10 mins on google home or a few hours on iPhone (take note those wanting constant streaming like for baby monitor or constant security monitoring- there is no way to lengthen the time the screen is active, I confirmed this with their own tech support), camera would move randomly for no apparent reason, motion detection alerts never- not once- actually alerted anyone (2 people on account, one google pixel 3 and one iPhone XS MAX) even though I confirmed several times with several people that all push and notifications were active both within the wise app and on the phones themselves, and customer service seems either burnt out or just not all there. When I asked about the 10 minute screen timeout time on the google hub they said I could simply ask google to bring up the camera every 10 mins for hours on end..... um..... what? How is that even a logical response? TL;DR wyze has great potential. Too many kinks to work out for now.

I love this app and it’s really useful and easy to use. But recently the detection box hasn’t been working properly. Now we get notifications every couple of minutes! So annoying!! You used to be able to drag and change where you wanted the screen to detect. This is a very smart feature, that way you only get notified for stuff you actually need to see. Recently they updated it so it’s no longer just a box you can move and drag around to where you want to be notified. Now the screen is covered with little boxes and you select the boxes of where you want to be notified. Now this is actually even better, if it worked. You can now be more precise and have exactly where you want motion detected. The problem is it doesn’t work. Every time I change the detection zone the squares reset. So I’m getting notified for motion where I unselected it! We have this app on two phones and the detection zone will be different on both and then reset. Please fix this, it basically makes the detection feature and the camera overall USELESS. I don’t want to be notified every second so that means I have to shut it off and now the camera is useful. Fix your app!

Gonna give it a 2 star because the app is ok, the camera is good, but it's dumb you have to pay a subscription to use event monitoring...I've had super cheap china security cameras before and all they ever charged for is clouded storage... after the "free" trial is up I'll get rid of this camera and find something that doesn't charge to use event monitoring
  • Missing features Jan 6, 2021

    By Minhala
Two things that apparently are more difficult than splitting the atom, as far as Wyze is concerned, is implementing fast forward and landscape mode. It does me no good to be able to record continuously to my SD card if I can’t fast forward through that footage. It’s ridiculous. People have been begging for that feature since the very first day the very first wise cam came out. And they have never been able to accomplish it. Oh, but wait, actually they have finally as of 2021 accomplished it. If you pay an extra fee per month PER CAMERA. Then you can fast forward through your videos. Except I’m told it doesn’t actually work. Like the person detection that doesn’t work either. Apparently, like corporations, my neighbors white van and my other neighbors white cat, are people too. Some of the false indications are understandable, but those two absolutely are not. And they took away the option to report bogus alerts. I guess there’s no point in getting them reported if you’re not going to fix the issue. They are not big on fixing issues with existing products. They’ll just put out another 10 half baked products instead.

Update. Support only uses copy and paste from main website as suggestions to fix your problems. Latest update only seems to be slight improvement. Wyze watch 47 has connection issues and is not reliable enough for daily use. All battery optimizing exclusions have been set properly as well as permissions. If the watch works for other people then I have a defective watch. If it does not work well for everyone then they need to fix the app.

*Update: notice the generic reply which doesn’t address the issue. However, they did finally respond to a PayPal dispute and did issue the subscriptions I’d paid for. Took months of hassle and I’m still not sure I’m going to use them anymore. Besides the v3 cameras - although they look awesome at night - are WAY too sensitive and are therefore useless. Even with sensitivity at ZERO I get tons of unwanted notifications, which is why I wanted the subscriptions at issue here. CamPlus is supposed to help avoid those, but it doesn’t seem to.* - This company started out looking promising. I have a TON of their products around the house now. Unfortunately. Somewhere around the launch of their v3 their customer service turned poor and they started charging people for CamPlus subscriptions and not providing the codes for them. I’ve tried contacting customer service many times but they either can’t comprehend the issue or more likely are just stalling and don’t want to provide the codes I paid for. I’ve been forced to file a dispute with PayPal and am now having to figure out a plan to replace all their junk with more expensive products but which will actually work and come with proper support. This has been an enormous waste of time and energy.

After the latest firmware update, the wyze cam pan, wireless cam and hub are now useless. I contacted support [Wyze Ticket 1192350] and spent over an hour with a live support agent. She eventually determined the problem is the cam is connecting to a 5GHz signal instead of a 2.4 GHZ signal. Her solution is to contact my ISP and request a separate line with a 2.4 GHZ signal. That was the point I finally gave up on Wyze. My ISP has NOTHING to do with a WiFi signal. It comes from my Orbi router.

Update: STILL ha ing issues. And the robot response of "send a message to the developers" doesn't work anymore because they don't respond either. The recording doesn't even work if you're LIVE watching, constant error messages. I should be paying for services that work. My rating STILL stands, I need a refund for my Plus service or reimburse for the days it has not worked properly.
