Use to be great, now it's a mess. Apr 19, 2022

    By Stargide@outlook.com
Wordscapes was good enough to make me buy the ad-free version. It's the only game I've ever bought anything in or on. EVER. After a couple of years of enjoying the game, about a month ago, it all went wonky. I've seen many people complain of the same thing. I know of two people personally that have contacted the developers repeatedly and have been given the run-around. Do not bother downloading this game. If you already have it, do not purchase the game. They will NOT REFUND your money.

Wordscape deletes earned coins. Mar 7, 2022

For the past few months, after earning close to 9500 coins, the app deletes earned coins down to 8200 coins. I’ve send inquiries to the game developer and never received an answer as to why.

Ads are invasive and play after every level, even with flight mode enabled. I've had to shut down the entire game because there are ads that don't have an x to close them. ads unsuitable for children, undressing women, gambling, shooting zombies, etc. Ive muted the sound on the game and ads don't mute, they scream at me and stop spotify. If you get a new phone, it won't save your progress, you'll have to start over, like I've done twice now. I even purchased the no ads which didn't roll over.

Sad Ending To A Fine Game Dec 10, 2021

    By Phillip Bullard
Having played and enjoyed this game immensely for nearly two years, in the past two months, it has become so infested with aggressive pop-up ads that it has become largely unplayable. Even with returning to home page and restarting my Kindle, speed is slowed such that trying to engage in tournaments is a waste of time as the game has rapidly become overall. The only relief of paying to go ad free is a subtle but odious extortion. Other good games exist without this nonsense.

Location of buttons for hint and rocket Oct 20, 2021

    By Carole Thompson
In my opinion as a right-handed person with pretty small fingers, the buttons to select hints and rocket which automatically take points away from you are too close to the circle with the letters to make the words from. Many many times I have lost points by very lightly accidentally touching those buttons.

  • Really Enjoy!! Apr 17, 2022

    By Mfl03
So far I really enjoy Wordscapes. I’m on level 1356. So far, I’m familiar with the vast majority of the words. I especially like that the words are not rare and unusual. If they were, I would not play. The backgrounds are pretty. However, there are several things that clutter the screen. As someone else mentioned, a " coins full " message keeps showing, with an option to buy the coins you have already earned. I won’t do that. It’s annoying. If the words ever get so bizarre that I can’t solve them, I will quit. There are other pictures on the screen and icons you can earn, but they are confusing and useless to me, so I ignore them. Also, it's too easy for my finger to accidentally tap on the “help” clues that cost far too many coins. I don’t use them intentionally, and it’s very annoying when I accidentally tap on one and lose a hundred or more coins. It’s easy to look up help on the internet if you are stuck For me, though, if I ever find that I have to look up words, I will quit. I don’t mind using a clue once in a while, but the clues cost way too many coins, compared with other games I’ve played. All in all though, the game works well on my iPad 4th generation now that I updated to the newest iOS version.

This is an entertaining and fun game with one major exception. The banner ads at the bottom are ok and don't disrupt the game play. The constant ads for other games are very intrusive and annoying. There is no quick, easy way to decline them and continue with the game. This makes an otherwise good game frustrating and nearly unusable. I play it much less for that reason and have considerd uninstalling it. If that feature of the adds could be changed it would be a much better experience.
  • Old Version Better/Coin Issue Oct 22, 2020

    By Unsafe Means of Transfer
I’ve played this game for a few years now and noticed a disappointing new feature with the coins. In order to use them now you must purchase them. This was not a requirement with the old version and makes me consider deleting the game daily as the use of the coins used to provide you with helpful features like; revealing one letter of your choice for a difficult word, etc. It’s a bit illogical to continue to show us coins that we’ve earned through finding additional letters or for reaching a certain level, yet we have no access to them unless we purchase them??? It feels like a design flaw as you play and really makes me wish I hadn’t updated to this newest version. Other than that I would have given 5 stars but it’s such a nuisance I have to grade much lower despite truly enjoying playing the game. Suggestion: Get rid of the option to pay for coins per player's choice if you decide to keep the paid “earned coins” version of this game as most people are never going to bother purchasing anyway it’s like having a commercial running in the upper right corner of your television screen while you’re watching your favorite TV show. It cheapens the look and feel of the game. It feels like the game creators are begging for money as opposed to a real game which would never have a running advert in the corner. Otherwise the game is perfect.
  • Great test for spelling nuts, best word fun app out there Dec 31, 2021

    By KoalaTwo
I don’t write many reviews but I just had to let other spelling geeks out there know about this game. I don’t know why anyone would give this less than five stars unless they found it to hard. Me? I search for games that will test me, push me, make me really think. If you love scrabble, words with friends or any of those games out there that require you to have a good knowledge of spelling, this game is for you. It doesn’t matter what age you are you will enjoy it. One of the things I liked best is that you don’t have to spend weeks getting through the easy levels to get to the good stuff. You can join a team (to compete in tournaments where all team members scores are combined, or where individual play is rewarded) you can chat with your team members from all over the world, and there are many games within games as well as progressively harder levels to challenge your brain. I happen to be an English Teacher for advanced students in Elementary school and many of my kids play this game. We can even keep track of each other. I know, geeky right? Geeks rule the world my friend! Not high school or early school maybe but the REAL world. You need this game, download it today!

This isn’t one of those games were that ads are nothing like the game. 😯What you see is what you get. It’s a word puzzle game where you make as many words as possible to win. Sometimes you might be stumped 🫤and can’t find a word. There is a skip option and you can shuffle 🔀 your letters to look at them from a new perspective. Hints do cost in game money 💵 so try to save up. You can make money 💴 by solving a word that earns you money, doing a daily puzzle or finding a word that’s not in the puzzle. Power ups, daily puzzles, a leaderboard! It’s so much fun! Now I’m going to talk about everyone’s lease favorite thing. Ads 😑yes there are ads after a puzzle and before and a little one at the bottom of the screen that doesn’t get in the way. But you can purchase something for 6.99💸to get rid of them. Or you can put your phone on ✈️ mode while you play. You can’t see texts or anything while using this so turn it off as needed. Overall this is a great puzzle game for passing time and I think there is a way to play with people? 👥 I don’t know for sure I haven’t unlocked🔒 it. But this game is great and of you like word puzzles you should totally download. ⬇️⬇️
  • Very fun, but one thing I want to give advice about... Oct 2, 2018

    By Pikachublue21
So far, this was the best word game I ever played. You can make words to complete puzzles, get coins, or just fiddle around with the letters until you make some words. You can also use the video on the Earn Free Coins section to get 25 coins per vid if u get stuck, but there's one thing I want to advice about.....whatever you do, DO NOT use the surveys to get free coins. When I checked it out I found out that whoever runs this survey thing is really just trying to get a hold of your personal information. Even the 15 question survey is trying to get personal info from people. That's why I did not even complete the 15 question survey and I'm glad I did not summit it. If you want to get free coins, I would recommend you just do the videos for coins and not mess with the offers or the surveys. I don't know what company runs this game but they might have someone like hackers running this survey thing so don't use the survey thing whatever you do or they may get your personal information. Otherwise, this is a really great game.

Edit: I dropped from five star to three. I really do love the game but the ads have become so excessive. If I'm playing and get a test message, I go back to the game and have to sit through a full one minute ad even though I was only out for a couple minutes. The excessive amount of ads really is ruining the fun. Maybe you could add a buy option so we can remove the ads.

The game itselfis is great. HOWEVER, if you have to change phones, you lose EVERYTHING, even the no ads you pay for. I paid for no ads, they came back when I got a new phone and I lost two-years' worth of levels. Sneaky business, not cool. forced full-page, 30-sec ads are dickery, almost forces one to purchase. I get as a developer you rely on money for what you produce, but I'm more inclined to spend when a developer "asks nicely" rather than demanding payment with obnoxious ads.

Game is great. The app sucks. I've NEVER seen so many ads. Never. Not short ads- LONG un-skippable ads that FORCE you to the play store to clear them. Absolutely out of control. Level 65 and I have spent more time watching ads than playing the game. Scale back the ads and I give it 5 stars. As is, the app is just one constant, inescapable ad with a few seconds of gaming tossed in between ads. Not even counting perma ads at the bottom. Deleting and finding a game that's actually a game.

Horrible and by far the worst experience ever. I really love this app, but the excruciating and agonizing pain that one goes through with an ad after every level. I can only get through 2 levels before I say ef it. But since this is one of the only games I've ever found myself interested in, I can't bring myself to delete it, and being in a financial bind at the moment, I can't pay to get rid of the ads, I wouldn't mind ads if it was like every 4 to 5 levels.. I may delete this soon. So hmmmmmm

I've had this app on my phone for years. I've had to start from the beginning several times to changing phone or not being logged in. This new update makes no sense and almost impossible to play. It wants you to buy an egg, using your coins. It pops up over the screen and you can't play unless you buy it for 350 coins. On top of that, there is no purpose for the eggs. I've loved this game and have always recommended it as it does keep the mind challenged. I won't any longer.

I really like this app. I like that there is a dictionary so if one in unfamiliar with a word they can click a button to read definition. I’m not digging how it seems in challenges words tend to be alphabetical. I’m not happy with being forced into a tournament last week. I’m also not happy with the “photos” that in order to reach 100% it’s taking so long to get rest of category. I played last week a lot only because I was riding in a car traveling. My life does not permit to sit and play for hours on end. I only have one photo left to complete a category but after playing for several hours I’ve not gotten anything but repeat photos. I don’t have the whole photo time to play to get one final photo. The Butterfly thing I will never have the time to play to fill the entire goal. It’s not attainable for people with a life outside of game. How do people reach 6000 or higher in one weekend without having a robotic arm? I will continue solving the puzzles but

Very lovely uncluttered layouts and short puzzle times make this a great app for de-stressing and passing time on short bus rides, standing in line, etc. My kids also love it and will beg to "help" me find words if they catch me playing it. A few critiques: you have to do seemingly endless easy puzzles before getting to any remotely challenging ones; I wish they increased the difficulty sooner, maybe based on your solve time. Also not sure what the "brilliance" is about, and there's nothing to use the coins for either. I finished with over 3700 coins, but when I press "shop" the only option is to buy even MORE coins using real money. It's also kind of annoying that it won't accept certain real words for no apparent reason (e.g. girt, purl, cote, hod, coir, trice, creel, cant... and the list goes on). Yet it DOES use a bunch of slang words like blog, pic, toon, etc. What dictionary are they using?! Overall an excellent app, I'll probably go back and redo the upper levels from time to time (fortunately it unsolves them again after you finish).

Many words are overused for example you see words were used in multiple puzzles and far too many words that are good words- words that are not overused, are not included in the puzzles. Beautiful backgrounds and a very relaxing game. Kids should not be worse or cost 100 points but it takes 100 extra words not included the crosswords to come up with that many. To clarify what has to come back with 100 words that are not included in the puzzles just to be able to get want to hint at what hit is only one letter at a word either the entire ward that proportion is way off. Yes the same words are used over and over and over again that will be the reason that I stop playing this game. There are billions of words at the English language to use the same words over and over again completely deplete the purpose of the game. But it is a great relaxing way to enjoy a Phone game at all so I do find it addictive. It only needs slight revision. With the game finally finished is there a grand prize? it’s not clear on that.

I really like this game, and even though I’ve only had it for a few days I can’t stop playing it. As someone with ADHD this is a really good focus her, and gets my brain working. There have been some words that I didn’t know where words, and there’s also a lot of things that should be counted as words like the names of countries, so that is a bit annoying. Plus you earn coins by completing the daily puzzles and crossword’s, but you can’t use those coins to buy things in the store that will help you out. You can use them to buy a helper thing when you are playing the game, but if you save up a lot of them you just have to do that rather than using them to buy spelling bees or some thing.I also don’t like that every time you complete a level, 25 coins go into a piggy bank that you then have to spend $1.99 on to get the coins when you reach the 1440 Mark. I feel like this game won’t be very fun if you aren’t willing to spend a few dollars, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. But overall it’s a fun game that doesn’t get old and also challenges you to think.

Been playing since late fall of 21. Love the game, and I'm enjoying the star rush tourney on the weekends. I paid for the removal of ads, which makes the game so much more enjoyable. My only grievance is the RNG of the portrait collection puzzles. It feels like it's almost impossible to get 100%. I'd spend time collecting 20 boxes, just to open all of them and get nothing new. It's disheartening, but they have the time and budget to make improvements, so fingers crossed it's soon.
  • Great word game! Jan 15, 2022

Edit: Unfortunately I need to rescind my comments about not having PG-13 words. Starting in the 200’s levels, there are words I hope most children under ten years old would not know. Not curse words, but nouns and verbs that are more adult in content. Disappointing as it could be a great game for elementary and middle school kids to help with spelling and vocabulary. -——————————————————— Great word game. Gets progressively harder over time but not each more than the last, so there are little respites of easier ones between the hard ones. Uses everyday as well as more obscure words. I like that you can see definitions and uses for words by tapping on them. I also like that you get bonus points for words that you make that aren’t on that particular puzzle. I have more respect for this game compared to others because they don’t ever put PG-13 words in the puzzle, so it’s appropriate for kiddos or tweens too. The tournaments and challenges are fun to have if you’re into that, but also not too in your face if you’re not. The ads are the only bummer, but not unbearable. Overall really happy with this word game!
  • Kill Time, It’s fun minus a few things Aug 10, 2018

It’s a great word game to play, between this and Ruzzle (my favorite), I think the game is pretty fun. I enjoy learning new words and expanding my vocabulary so this helps. The game allows you to guess words without a limit or consequence no matter how many incorrect tries. It also has a built in dictionary so you can look up the definitions of any of the words you find. Cons: You don’t rack up many coins, so you have to be good at guessing or pay for more coins. The hints are so expensive for a game that doesn’t allow you to rake up many coins per round. To earn coins you have to play 16 round to get at most 75 coins. Each round you can earn coins by guessing words that aren’t in the puzzle using the letters given. You get one coin per word; ripoff. I guess it’s a money thing. The hints cost 100, 200, and 300 coins so be mindful of how often you ask for hints, unless you don’t mind buying coins. Some words that are real words, aren’t recognized by the system. Some words you’ve probably never heard of, are definitely a part of the game. So with all that being said, I recommend the game, but it could be better.
  • Missed Credits on Daily Challenges May 28, 2019

    By Lauraaapieee
I haven’t seen any other reviews on this so I’m not sure if I’m one of a few that has this problem. I love this game but the problem is with the daily challenges. I’ve played this game for months (possibly a couple years) and always, always do the daily challenges. It’s a ritual I do while eating breakfast. For every so many days you complete, you can get coins and it goes up in increments so that you should (on the months that have 31 days) be able to get the big prize of 500 coins. The problem is there are usually about 2 or 3 days out of the month that it doesn’t give me credit for that therefore insuring I will not get the 500 coins. It always happens!!! It goes to the next screen after I complete the challenge and goes through the sounds and motions but my number/count doesn’t go up one. Super annoying and it’s almost like it does it on purpose so that no one can get the 500 coins so we will be forced to pay for hints since they cost an exorbitant amount to begin with and always run out of money. It’s been bothering me for months so just wanted to complain.
  • Love it! Just one little thing Jan 18, 2020

I love Wordscapes it is a great game. I play it for almost a while everyday. I like that there’s wide verities of hints like bees, rockets, normal hints, shuffle, and targets. I have heard some complaints about the ads but I disagree they are not interrupting the game because they only come after a round. I also enjoy getting a prize everyday weather it is a free hint or just coins, it is a great feature. I love that there’s a dictionary space because when I write,I haves wide selection of words to choose from. But there is two little problems. One: when you start the daily puzzle but don’t Finnish it you can’t start the next day. I know that the point of the daily puzzle is to do a new puzzle everyday but maybe you could make a “Resume” button or a “Start a new one” Two: there is a space for ads on the bottom of the word bank, so if my hand slips it brings me right to the App Store. I know that Wordscapes themselves don’t provide the ads but they can at least move the bar. Aside from those problems Wordscapes is a great game, thanks for reading. And a wonderful game!
  • Fun little game to help kill time, but one flaw Apr 10, 2020

    By mr_coldcutts
I’ve been playing this game for a couple months now. It’s a fun way to kill time and even exercise your brain a bit. I do like that it has a feature that lets you easily look up the definition of words that you might not recognize, so it has helped me expand my vocabulary a bit. This also, however, exposes one of the flaws of the game. The one frustrating thing about this game is with what words it will and will not recognize. This fault is not so much with the game itself, but with the dictionary source it uses. It allows a few slang and abbreviated words that I wouldn’t have thought to use. It even allows for some slightly more scientific terms but not others. Most notably, it doesn’t allow for certain words that connote a more recent understanding and sensitivity to LGBTQ populations. Once again, I point this not a flaw of the actual coding, but rather the dictionary base that it uses. Finally, the amount of ads within the game is a bit annoying, but such if the case fit just about any freemium game.
  • Challenging and fun! Apr 25, 2018

    By Savage_tootsie_roll✌️🤟🏻
I love playing this game to be able to challenge my brain. I also love how if you put a word on the puzzle, you can click it to see the actual definition of the word. The only thing I don’t like is how getting a hint for just one letter in whole puzzle costs 100 coins. Yes, you can get a bunch of coins, and the hints are pretty easy to pay for, but I don’t like how they are so “overpriced” and the fact that you don’t even get to pick which spot to get a hint on makes it more overpriced. But despite this little issue, (which I would love to see changed in a possible next update,) this game is super fun and is just the right amount of challenging. A lot of the time when I am bored in the car, or traveling, or just ya going out in my room, I do use this game as a time killer, which does seem to be helpful to kill time, and it’s super soothing with all the calming slow music, and how the backgrounds on the puzzles are always really pretty pictures and they are really soothing to look at, too. I definitely love this game, and would love to see the one change made to it.
  • Fun but one thing Nov 13, 2021

    By dgbilbkijj
I really like this game and it helps me expand my vocabulary, but the words are very hard to guess and words that could go well in it don’t count for the puzzle just as a bonus. This makes me mad because it takes me a while to think of them but they are just thrown I’m the bonus section and don’t even count for the puzzle! I also wish that the puzzle of the day first your level. It is either too hard or too easy for me. They should advance the daily puzzle for people’s own paces. Another thing is that the level of difficulty is really weird. I just finished level 20, which was hard, but now that I’m on level 21 it seems so much easier. I will give them credit because it’s really addicting and fun to complete the puzzles. You get this sense of satisfaction after you finish a puzzle. It is fun and good to kill time. Play this when ur bored or if you wanna do something “educational” but feel really lazy. I like this game except for those things I mentioned earlier.
  • Good but adds show better please respond to this Mar 8, 2019

This is a very nice game with MANY ups and few downs. Though that is why I’m writing this, because of the downs. So first, I don’t see why there is not an easier way to get money besides finding extra words, which tray don’t give you very much money. A second reason I’m writing this is because in the adds it kinda says in different words that this game is a stress reliever, but of course, again, in different words. That’s the problem because sometimes you spend FOREVER trying to figure out JUST ONE word and have no money for a hint which can make you stressed. The third and final flaw to the game is how the adds say how this game makes you smarter but I really don’t see how it does that. So basically, in all, this is a fun game that I play slightly more than a lot of my others and I think it’s good for all ages!(Well, not ages 5 and under because they are kinda stupid and don’t know very many words lol😏)Thank you for this wonderful experience and I hope you make a few improvements. -Sam

Would be a great game. Unfortunately, the android version is plagued with constant screen-grabbing ads for other games that make it almost unplayable. You can't just x them out...most of them are at least three screens and timed waits before you can get rid of them. One of recurring ads has terrible and loud war sounds that automatically play even tbough I have all game sounds off. Apple version doesn't seem to be similarily afflicted. Too bad, bcz it's otherwise a stimulating and fun diversion.

I find this an almost addicting daily indulgence. I’ve been playing this for well over a year and when dealing with their standard puzzles, the game can be quite entertaining. Where it falls down is with its vocabulary and it’s other options, like tournaments and daily puzzles. By far the most frustrating is the Daily Puzzle, in which earn points for guessing the correct word, guess them correctly and you’ll earn up to 3 points for one of the four challenges which in turn rewards you with stars for your account. However, there is neither rhyme nor reason to their method. Say you need a 3-letter word with “O” in the middle. With your letter selections it could be NOT, TON, LOT, HOT or TOY. Guess them in the wrong order and your chance of earning all 3 stars that round may be lost. I don’t know why they don’t put the words in alphabetical order. Next is vocabulary. I can’t say how many times I’ve tried a word and it’s not accepted (example: EWER or TOM.) Then there are the words like AAH and AHA or non-words like LITE. Finally there’s the tournaments (where one minute you’re rated #5, you’ll finish a game and drop to 20. Oh, and you better have a cell or network connection, otherwise you’ll play through a round of 16 games and get credit for none of them.

Honestly love the game. Simple mechanics, a satisfying ui, and I like collecting the lil animals. (Protip to anyone who has the free ver: The between-level ads take so long to skip through it's actually faster to close the app and re-load the game 👍) HOWEVER! If I get one more ad banner that plays sound DURING the puzzle and interrupts my music I'm uninstalling the app.
  • Weekend Tournament Concerns Sep 20, 2021

I’m a team leader on a team that has played several months in tournaments. I have played this word game for 18 months. Of late in the Tournament there are teams that are getting hard to believe high scores. This leaves me to believe we may have some bits in the system that are making this unfair for us human players. These teams need to be automatically disqualified from playing in these tournaments. Our team is feeling like why should we play if there is so much rampant cheating by other teams. I also think it would be wise to add incentives and rewarding those who have reached high levels in this game. Perhaps giving 100 coins for each 16 games you complete. They definitely become more challenging as you go up higher in levels. The game is fun snd I have made many new friends in my team. I’m always amazed at the number of legitimate words that are not accepted in puzzles or as bonus words. I’m also a little baffled at the editing of communications between team members. There are certain words that are starred out and those words are not offensive or slang words. Thank you for all you do and I hope all of these issues can be resolved or at least addressed so that all can enjoy this game!!
  • Misleading Oct 31, 2019

So, in this post-fact world the advert says you’ll learn to read faster and improve your vocabulary. I haven’t seen any evidence that spelling words from a collection of letters helps one read faster. Logic tells me it doesn’t. Perhaps they could cite some studies. My bigger issue is that it’ll improve my vocabulary. That’s hogwash. Central to ALL vocabulary instruction, starting in kindergarten, is definitions. This game does nothing to promote improvement in my usage of the words contained in it. Moreover, the game is all about building words from letters THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW. How does recalling words I’ve seen and used many times before, then provide no definition or context in which said word is used, help my vocabulary skills? I’ve waisted too much time playing this thing, hoping that I’d eventually get to the “lexicon” level which would grant me the amazing fluency and word knowledge advertised. But alas, the game doesn’t appear to have that...it’s basically Boggle that can be played at a banana slug pace. This would be a four star review if they’d at least provide definitions (maybe they do with the paid upgrades?) and actually allow me to practice speed reading. Throw in the parts of speech and you’d have five star reviews all day long.

So, let’s start with the good. Wordscapes is a fun way to challenge your brain and learn new words. Also, you can guess wrong and/or incorrect words all the time. But, for me, that’s where the positives end. I know lots of people say this, but I’m going to it again. The game uses words over and over and over again. I can’t tell you how many time I’ve gotten the word “emu” in this game. This doesn’t add to my vocabulary, if I have seen it over and over again. In the game, the “hints” are 100 coins, and bull’s-eyes are 200 COINS!? Like, for ONE letter it cost the same amount of TWO letters? You might as well save up for the “rocket” option at this point. My other complaint is the chat systems of the teams. I was once on a team and inappropriate things were said, and SEVERAL people reported the messages and had them removed, yet that person was never kicked or removed from the team? Like, they should be removed at the FIRST report, wether the team leader reported them or not. TLTR: Great idea, but the repeated words, having to spend to many coins on hint, bull’s-eyes, rockets, and the chat systems, it just not okay. Overall, a game I would not recommend. 😐

I find this a relaxing game, EXCEPT the glitches do not stop. The ads are bad enough.. and - yes - they want us to pay to stop them, which is both a commonplace, and obnoxious business practice. But, at least take the money you guys are making on your darn ads and fix your app.

  • Long time player disappointed Nov 15, 2021

    By Winddreamer22
Been playing casually for years. Only recently begun to take an interest in the tourney feature. The team feature is fun playing with other players. And hearing their gripes about the game. About how some players seem to be under testing with new game features. The latest was Star Rush. Which I don’t really see the point of with getting bonus points if you complete a level within 3 mins. I think most players can complete a level within that period. So no real change from the regular play. Unless you take your time and those players are at a disadvantage. Or something comes up and you forget to close out of your screen. So lose bonus points accrued unless you pay coins to not lose them. Days when there is not a tourney you have theme feature to collect portraits. For instance was the ‘Trick or Treat’ theme. Where you collect portraits with a Halloween theme. And what I heard from other players, it’s nearly impossible to obtain all the portrait from the set. The only feature I’m able to complete a collection are the butterflies but most regular players can complete collections. And really the only I was able to complete. I’ve yet to complete any portrait sets. I know players with millions in brilliance and they haven’t competed a set. So they doesn’t bode well for players like me. I still play but mostly for the tourneys and the team I joined.
  • Can’t Sync Between Devices Jan 25, 2020

    By Courtney4367732
The concept of the game is easy enough... and if you have a decent vocabulary, the game itself is too easy. I’m nearly to level 300 and have barely had to pause to think about it. Definitely not challenging so far. My biggest issue is I can’t sync between my phone and iPad. I contacted customer support and was initially pleased by the quick response. Unfortunately, they keep forwarding my responses to another person, so I’ve spoken to 4 different people even though person 2 explained they’d just do a manual reset or something that never happened. Person 4 goes “Are you trying to sync them to the same FB account?” What??? Why would I be confused about it not going to the correct level if it wasn’t even the same account I was syncing them to?? I finally said never mind because no one from their support team has helped me over the past week and apparently they can’t bother to even read what my complaint was in the first place. Yes, they answer the same day, but every day it’s a new person and you’ll be explaining your problem over and over! And it’s emails! They can’t communicate? So all in all, pretty easy game and decent time killer... just can’t get the game to sync between my phone and iPad. 2 stars because the last two emails I got from them are utterly ridiculous. I paid to remove ads and regret the fact their company got my few dollars.
  • Updated review. I no longer even like this game. Mar 3, 2022

    By Tinarobin
3/3/22 - I used to love this game, but things have changed to the point where I no longer want to play. As you can see from my previous review, the ads were not frequent, so I was ok with them because the devs deserve to be paid for their time. Since then, the ads have become more frequent over time until they’re now after every puzzle and it’s usually 2 ads. Plus, they have a button where you can watch more ads for extra rewards, so the frequent ads are ridiculous to have to put up with. The mini contests are no longer any fun at all because of the ads. My 5 star review is changing to a 2 because it’s so irritating to play now. The only reason I’m giving them a 2 is because of the quality of the graphics. If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t give them any stars. Most game apps like this either bore me with using the same words repeatedly or else they suffocate me with billions of ads every few seconds. This game does neither. The words are varied, even though I disagree with some they buzz on, but it’s probably the fact that I am 60 and use older words than the devs or from wherever they obtain their list. While there are ads, they are not super frequent and they are not horrible. I have not had any issues with this game at all.
  • It’s okay... Jan 1, 2019

    By Foggyhat
It is an okay app so far. Starts off WAY to easy, but I guess that’s probably so that anyone can play, even young kids. It has far too many 3 letter words for my liking. It probably gets harder eventually, but till that point, it is a bit boring for me. I have two other qualms. The first is that there are legal words that the game doesn’t accept. If you do come up with a word that was not chosen for the crossword, it counts as a “bonus word” (which adds to your total to be able to later use for hints, which is a good idea). However, there are valid words that the game doesn’t accept. I can’t remember all of them right now, but some are “alee” and “luged”. They accepted “luge” just fine, so I have no idea why the past tense in “luged” would be an issue. The other main issue that annoys me is the frequency of the ads. I’ve played other games that have ads before, and I understand that’s how free games supplement their income in order to give us the content in the game. However, the frequency of the ads is the issue in this game. By far the most frequent ads I’ve ever seen. Sometimes have to deal with an ad every two minutes or less, if I finish the crossword quickly, which is ridiculous. At least you can X out of the ads fairly quickly. Still, having ads that often is annoying.

I have been playing this game for years & I do love it. However, the constant crashing & having to restart the app is highly annoying especially when it happens during a tournament. It seems even worse since you added the wildlife stuff. I, too, wish you could opt out of it. Also, in March (the end of the month) I was playing the daily game & at the very end it froze up & it said restart which I did, but the game showed it was finished & I did not get my 3 rewards. Lost 500 coins by 2.

The game is fantastic, but also rife with ads. I don't mind that there's constantly a banner ad on the bottom of the screen while I play it, but they also slap an unskippable timed ad on the screen every few puzzles. You're wasting my time to make the experience worse to try and coerce me into swiping my credit card. I've made my peace with seeing ads in free games, but shame on any developer who loads their app with ads that intentionally waste my time or try to get me to click by accident.

So hmmmmmm

Ok game. But you can get a LOT more coins by watching videos than by winning puzzles. Kind of a backwards way of doing stuff. The rewards for completing puzzles should be considerably better. Lowered rating due to nonexistent customer service. Had an issue, and ended up having to figure things out myself. Even after asking for help 5x. Also, if you are forced to uninstall and reinstall the app, you lose ALL of your progress in the portraits events.

The developers of his app give some features (adventure game within the game for example) to some users, but not all. They also give "random mid-week tournaments" to some, not all; however, in my team of fifty players, we found that the same people got the tournament week after week, so it's not incredibly random. If your mates get all the extra tourneys, they get to advance through the game at a much faster rate with 'crowns' that can only be obtained in the tourney play - and THAT'S why it's not fair to others of us. Bottom line, if you don't mind others being given blatant unfair advantages by the game, you'll have fun. And contacting them to ask why results in a 'sorry, not sorry' reply. One star given for my inferior game experience caused entirely by the app developers themselves. Others bestowed with the bonus features will probably rate higher. *My reply to Developer: then your TEST shouldn't allow people to unfairly advance faster in the game. If you win your individual tourney, you are eligible for max 50 crowns/wk. Extra TEST tourney, gives access to 25 extra/wk. UNFAIR GAME ADVANCEMENT!!!! Then take the test crowns away. Test all you want and hallelujah for you, but you should not let people advance in your game and others do not have equal access. I don't expect to get 50 crowns per week unless I EARN them, but I don't expect others to have access to 100 game advancing crowns per month, when I do not!

I changed phones and lost my rank and scores, when I've been playing for years. I followed the directions to contact support several times. NO RESPONSE. In addition, I paid to play ad-free years ago but now have to suffer through an inordinate number of long, obtrusive ads in order to play. Also can't communicate with my tournament team! I would appreciate contact from the support area. For now the rating should be zero stars.

I've been playing this app for a few years now. I just use it for the brain exercise, and my son enjoys the cute rewards, so I tolerate the ads. But recent updates are ruining the experience. The star rush adds unwanted stress to a gane that is advertised as stress-relieving, and I am given the same groups of letters again and again, sometimes multiple times in a week. The whole point is working on a new puzzle every time, not repeating the same puzzles.
