I have been playing “war” games like this for several years now, dating all the way back to Gears of War. They all play relatively similarly. Gather, build, research, recruit heroes, attack enemies, defend your space, etc. Inevitably, these games get lopsided. There are always those players who will pay exorbitant amounts of money to be the strongest. And then, they bully others around, constantly attacking, and keeping them from recovering. This game has its share of that, but I have to say, it’s minimal. The rest of the game play has been one of the best I have experienced. Yes, there are strong players, but the power of the alliance is stronger in this game than others. I like that. The focus on alliance events keeps the bullies at bay much more, and lends to better team work development and social times. This game has many, many positives, including the price of packs, which range from the magical 99cent pack to the $100 pack, but many at the $5-$20 range. So, very affordable. I have had very good interactions with support as well, having all of my major issues resolved within a day or two. All in all, best game of this style I have played. The negative, is the use of gold. It’s expensive when you have to use gold, so conserve. Even resetting your main characters skills costs $1K gold, EVERY TIME, so that’s expensive to me. That’s the biggest drawback: Gold usage.

Great game. Always a personal campaign as well as daily/weekly goals in progress to create challenge. The chat board is a great way for new players to jump right into the action and receive feedback from those more experienced. There are also Alliance Challenges, such as The Bull Gang challenge that promotes unity among the different alliances.

I’m not a gamer, haven’t played anything since XBox when I was a lot younger. I started playing West Game right before COVID, so about 4 months ago. There are quite a few features that would be helpful to know from the beginning or you are playing at a major disadvantage to anyone who has been around for a month or more. You have to join up with others to learn the game. If not, you’ll be killed regularly and probably quit playing before you learn any tactics. Of course I’m a novice, so others with lots of game experience may already know most of the “tactics” involved. In any event, it is an interesting game, fun to try and grow your town and take on other rival towns. I haven’t had any bad experiences with the game itself. I’ve been wiped out a few times early on and had to start over from scratch, but as long as you recognize that it is a game, its all good. The developers seem to be invested in making in better as often as possible so there are many upgrades that don’t cost money. Some players spend big money to win, I’ll take the free version and be average.

It's fine as a time killer, but there are some mechanics that encourage fighting, which are encouraging bullying. My biggest gripe comes when someone steals your sheriff. The default is that your sheriff gets executed in 3 days. I get that the developers want you to attack them to get your sheriff back, but sometimes you can't because you are small and got hit by a big bully. So this mechanic actually punishes the victim and rewards the bully for being a dick. They should have to pay to kill.

Stay busy trying to get ahead. You have to log on multiple times a day to get rewards and keep up with everything. The game glitches out and will not give you all of your rewards. I had to uninstall and reinstall for it to work again. I have wanted to quit but you have to pay money to get anywhere. Have too much money and time invested. Needs to be more of a tutorial, I am still learning everyday.

Sure, there’s cheap packs of rss here n there, some gold, but I’ve been playing it for over a year and cannot compete with the big time money guys. There’s simply no way to do it without spending tons of money. Support is horrible, they’ll send preprepared replies, telling you you’re wrong, and so on. They’ll rebut anything here, blaming the players but it’s a bunch of bull. I have no problem supporting devs, they came up with the game, and at its core, is decent. Do NOT expect ANY of the cool graphics they show to lure you in, you’ll never approach a woman and have a choice of helping her or turning her in, I’m talking NONE OF THAT STUFF IS IN GAME PLAY!!! It’s disappointing to see that this game is older than I thought and you haven’t instituted ideas from the community of players that keep money in your pocket. For instance using 30 of an item at once instead of clicking a bunch of times to get what you need, having a historical login for all accounts logged from that device so that you don’t have to type in tons of different emails when you had multiple accounts, a collect all button for alliance chests, you need a streamlined rewards section so you don’t have to click through a bunch of mails; have it all under one rewards button, when you need x amount of resources while building have a button that uses the exact amount you need within the building interface, same with speeding; when you want to speed it up to the free time have a button that automatically chooses the speeds required to get you to the free time. These are just a few of the things you can guys can do to streamline this game making it more enjoyable for spenders to play and stick around. I’m given a 2 star rating for now. When things improve so will my rating.

If you want to succeed in this game bring your gold cards because it’s going to cost you 1000s to survive. These credit card cowboys buy their way to the upper levels and purchase huge armies. After accomplishing nothing more than making on-line purchases they turn their attention to attacking smaller player who don’t stand a chance against them. The disparity is these credit carders are 20 to 30 or 40 times larger than than the players they attack and the smaller player does not have any chance of surviving. This game is rigged in the favor of the attacker. It gets better. They also attack in groups. 3 or 4 of them find a player that poses no threat to them and attack. The smaller player can’t run because even if he or she does there is a tracker on them where within seconds they have been located and attacked again. I’m new to gaming but not to this world. This may be common to games of this nature but I have come the conclusion that this is just an arena where gamers can be bullies and somehow find some self worth in doing so. I think they are nothing but cowards hiding in dark rooms.

The only thing about this game right now, that many players and I have a problem with, is that certain alliances, like UWR, are scaring new players away with bullying and destruction of their towns, as they are trying to build and get established!!! They stalk/target specific towns, alliances, and constantly TILE HIT them!!! If they don't find a way to fix this problem, the programmers are gonna lose a lot of $$$$, and people are gonna stop playing this game permanently!!!

  • Please shorten the time for upgrades Aug 27, 2019

    By Daviddomination
This is a great game but it takes so long for everything to upgrade. My 1st problem is the amount of time and materials it takes to fix traps. 2nd no building should take more than 24 hours to upgrade. Yes I’m talking about the town hall 1day 15hours 45 min left and that was after using an 8 hour boost. 3rd like most games of this kind it takes lots of gold to do thing so you pay way to much for those things to get done once it hits your gold funds and material. Why can’t we farm gold like silver instead of doing events or buying it. 1 bullet a day for your man that’s great I can kill one man in 7 days!! More bullets. How is it that I have a six shooter that takes a day to load a bullet. Beside those issue it’s a great game. It’s not red dead redemption 1 or 2 but it fun to play during down time I give it a B+

This game is addicting and fun! You actually meet new people and gain friendships. As long as you're in a good alliance, you are set. Like everything else in life, you will come cross paths with personalities which aren' that great, but you just move along (or burn them if you have the firepower lol). The creaters are pretty good about fixing glitches, and keep making new upgrades to the graphics. Would recommend, but be ready to spend a lot of time on it. A year later and still playing!

This game is a world building game, but set in the old west. It is challenging, interesting and requires that you always be working. The game itself is nothing like it was advertised to be. You build you town, build traps to protect from invasion, train cowboys to protect the town, gather resources ( wood, rubble, gold, grain). Then just when you think that you are getting somewhere, another player at a higher rank will attack your town and destroy your traps, kill most of your cowboys, steal most of your gathered resource and you start again rebuilding. Also your sheriff can be taken and executed by another player. To rebuild the traps and heal your cowboys requires both time and resources. Your town keeps growing, your sheriff gets more experience and your troops get to higher level of training to defend your town. You can also attack other players, capture their sheriff, steal their resources. You can also attack wolves, bears, outlaws and wild boars for experience and resources.

Social aspect, more or less good minus the bullies as every game has and the griping about game bs. Game aspect, you dont have to spend $$ but if you don't you'll be way behind any who do spend quickly. Lots of money generating events that attempt to force people to spend, so yeah, it's more or less pay to play. But you can make lifelong friends and get to know people that live all the way across the world, so it has pros. Hey I'm still playing after a year and a half. Lol.

The game has lots to offer... You have the choice of gaming by yourself or joining an alliance which is your best bet if you want to have access to most of the perks in the game... most of the competition in the game is alliance based net beware of strong alliances... they will attack you without mercy make you feel like someone kicked your dog... any ways as I digress, beware of alliances who are only out for themselves... the ones where the top 5 or ten strongest plays who will kick you out of their alliance even if you’re doing as they asked... it’s happened to me twice and it was random and unfair... I digress again... other than that the war animation is awesome and the game gives everyone a chance to become strong even if you don’t spend money on any in game app purchases... this has been one of the better games I’ve played by far... their is one thing that’s a bit bogus, it’s how long and how much resources you’ll need to advance your town or to just do research when you get up to lvl 19 and above... let’s just say it’ll take anywhere from weeks or a month to get the accomplished... if you don’t have the funds to buy resources you’ll be waiting a very long time👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

Hi ... its somewhat enjoyable. Unfortunately the amount of time and energy one has to put in for any upgrade and or goal is not directly rewarded. Meaning ... one has to spend alot of time, energy and resources and once you get to your goal or complete the upgrade, they gift that the games gives you is ridiculous small and inappropriate. IE. Upgrading Town Center, once done I received only a 5 minute speed up. Unbelievable

  • Nothing like the ads. Be prepared to spend money Dec 25, 2020

    By Creatinine
The game is nothing like the west game ads shown in other games. The ads show a sherif walking down a town street deciding to help a woman or turning her in for a reward. The game is nothing like that. You can't walk down any street like shown in the ad and interact with characters. This is just a war game with a western feel. That being said, I like the game. Growth is slow unless you pay money. They keep trying to add more things to do in the game but they keep making it harder to get anywhere in the game without spending money If your just starting the game...the first 5 days you are protected from attacks as long as you don't attack. So make sure to be on a lot during that time and constantly build build build and make traps and troops to take advantage of that protection The app support button in the Apple Store does NOT work. App support within the game using the support button is extremely slow. So email for support instead.

  • Long upgrade times without VIP Oct 20, 2019

    By karin2you
In comparison to some other games with the group/guild required to game, I have some good things to say and some complaints. Wording in messaging is limited. Giving directions to others in guild is difficult. Translator doesn’t work thru messages. Servers aren’t labeled for countries and there is no way to determine what country a new alliance member is from without asking. Although translation happens in guild chat it needs to be in messages. Or having a way to label what countries people are from would help game play as people could communicate better. Have to play a lot to make sure you receive gift boxes. Have to spend lots of gold to get gift boxes. VIP helps but a monthly fee or subscription might be helpful so I could have be sure to have 30days of VIP. As leveling your buildings gets you rewards. I like the concept. I also like that each guild has property to defend for the guild perks. It would be nice if people understood things better and people took the time to move to their alliance property. The manual is available but people don’t really read it, and just wing the game play so if your going to play read the game play direction manual available in help. After multiple days of a game not being played their city should respawn in new location when they come back. Too many lvl 1-5 hanging out on alliance/guild land that we cannot remove or zero due to early lvl protection bubble.

Fun to play, researches and builds are a bit longer than what I'm used to in other games, but overall fun. Made some good friends that I now talk to regularly. Update: 4/7/19 - Some members shields glitch out in game and drop, causing them to get zeroed. Unless you throw thousands of dollars into the game, the developers just shrug you off. Definitely pay to play, only big spenders make it in the game. If you're not ready to drop 10k on your base, don't bother even starting a game.

  • Too many in app purchases Sep 8, 2019

    By lhowardsr
I downloaded this game and thought it was okay in the beginning. There is minimal tutorial on how to play, so you have to figure out by trial and error. Once you do get it figured out, you have spent many $ on in app purchases to advance far in the game. On you get to where you think you are doing pretty well in the game someone who’s city is three times your city size decides to teleport their city next to yours, attack it, destroy it and then teleport back to where ever they came from. In order to repair and revive your city and Calvary you have to spend more $ on in app purchases to re-establish your city. Then the person that destroyed your city teleports their city back to beside you and attacks again. It is almost like someone from the game or developers are doing this to make you spend more money. When this happens the fun of the game is lost. So I deleted the app from my iPad. Probably won’t get it again.

I spent over $50 on game upgrades to have them not give me all I paid for and when I complained, customer service was very rude, then locked me out of my account. I can’t even log in to play. They shut down for “scheduled system maintenance” to fix bugs customer support kept claiming to me that weren’t having a week ago, and ever since then I can’t log in. Since I can’t log in, I can’t claim the gold I purchased because you have to open the chest every day to claim it (it’s spread out over 30 days to get the full amount). Also, because I can’t log in, I can’t use my peace shield to protect my troops, so everything I paid to build is being destroyed. Thanks for taking my money and ruining my gameplay. I would rate a zero if I could! *In reply to the response I was given: they didn’t lock me out for the purchase failing. The purchases went through and I didn’t get all of what I purchased/the perks that went with it. On top of that, I’ve been locked out of my account since the last scheduled maintenance & can’t log in to play/use the things I bought.

Interesting game in that players should join an alliance and make friends to take advantage of the bonuses and online purchases of other players. This builds a friendship based experience. The game ihas a couple of major flaws in my experience, and those flaws are not by I quit. Be prepared to spend a lot of cash to purchase peace shields, or be prepared to rebuild daily from attacks regardless if you are in an alliance or not. It’s nothing to drop $500 plus dollars in this game on speed ups, equipment, and boosts; research, construction and training. Only to find out that you will never catch the top players because food production does not matter, so those on top will always be on top with impossible troop numbers to overcome, making it miserable if next to impossible for new players. Two months in and if I leave my town unshielded for an hour, you will be rebuilding for a week. Any training, research or construction takes weeks to months when you try and advance to higher levels. Save your money and talk your friends into something else more rewarding without baby sitting a game 24?hours a day.

  • No hope of success without paying Nov 29, 2020

    By N.Talbott
I have enjoyed this game for a long time, but it’s become nothing but frustrating. If you’re not paying real money to upgrade your heroes/defenses, you have no hope of doing well. Every time I go to work my real job, my town gets spam attacked (which I think is a huge problem with the game) and I have to start all over with traps, troops, and waiting for my sheriff to be released. It’s ridiculous that the developers allow other players to raid your town over and over and over until you’re depleted, and the magic solution is “Oh, pay for a peace shield.” At Town Level 18 this is no longer a strategy game for me, it’s a pay to win. I understand that sometimes stronger/better players will attack you sometimes, but the ability to do it over and over and over again takes the fun out for casual players. It’s an entertaining game with a lot to do when you can focus on your tasks and building your town, but it seems like all I do now is rebuild after having my town destroyed every couple of days.
