Easy to use. I like knowing the forecast for multiple locations. To make it even better, I would like to know forecast amount of rain or snow via a color coded picture over the map, including a zoom out view to see the big picture over a region. As it is, I check tv stations in major cities along my route and have to cobble a forecast together myself. I use this app every day.

  • Weather Channel App Great Tool for Travel Jul 10, 2020

My wife and I having to travel throughout the state of Texas, occasionally with our children, results in many changes and fluctuations in the weather. We can be in central Texas in San Antonio with high temperatures and strong wind (allergens: dust & pollen) will change dramatically as we venture into East Texas surrounding Houston with lower temperatures, but with a major increase in relative humidity and the dew point (allergens: mold and grasses). Having a family with a variety of allergies, compounded with the need to stay vigilant about the novel Coronavirus(CoVid-19), can leave some of us concerned for our health if we do not prepare for the changing weather. Another major advantage in having The Weather Channel are the weather alerts warning us of severe weather. We have on several occasions received alerts/bulletins on severe weather outside of our region but within areas where we have family that are elderly. We were able to call them and advise them to take the necessary precautions. This has been a Godsend. The ability to see up-to-date forecasts of any city or region on The Weather Channel allows us to plan specific activities and outings, while taking the necessary precautions. All this and so much more conveniently located at the touch of a button on a single site - The Weather Channel! The Medina Family 😇

Lots of extra useful info (e.g. UV index, sunrise/set, air quality, allergy risk, local COVID/flu spread, etc.). Also, I love the wide range of radar options, like wind speed, past/future precip/snowfall, temp change, and hurricane tracking. My only complaints: 1. Too many ads 2. Sometimes takes too long to load or need to refresh multiple times to see current conditions 3. If you switch locations, it often goes back to previous one when reopened P.S.: the term "umbrella index" makes me chuckle

I own a manufacturing business in the South. Since we work in a mostly open warehouse the weather is very important there was a time when y’all had sections of importance. Videos: At one time the primary videos offered were segments of weather throughout the country. i . e. Northeast, southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and Northwest. Now it’s a melange of Weather top story, then somewhat insignificant stories with background music and subtitles of stories not necessarily pertinent to U.S weather on a daily basis. It seems you have to forage through the pooo to get what your looking for. There was also monthly data that showed averages for one’s area and where we are compared to the average on a rolling average. That’s completely gone. Nowadays it’s the basic local facts and sensationalism. I’m afraid that you don’t know how to get it back. Lastly, I find it interesting that your posting a 4.6 average when the Lions share of comments are negative. Himmmm Math channel? Update; I had to correct my score. I originally gave it 2 Stars. Once it showed up it was 4 stars. Very interesting, maybe it answers my score question. So now I gave it a 1. If you see any more than 1 star? It wasn’t me.

This is one of my favorite apps. Not one day passes without my checking the weather for the day and in future days to come. Most importantly, this app is necessary when you live in an area that is prone to hurricanes, as I do. Update, 02/14/2021-original post 2018, now in a different world, one none of us are familiar with. I continue to rely on The Weather Channel to provide facts based on science and meteorologists interpretation of data provided - enjoy this channel's programming

The recent update has broken the widget, it is completely blank. I have cleared cache, data & uninstalled, but it's still not working. The widget is the best part of the app, it gives a superior accuracy report for the day ahead, please fix this. Still not fixed, uninstalled. I keep installing after a few weeks hoping this problem is fixed, & it's not, I used to love this app.

  • Used to be good, but now might delete it! Jan 25, 2021

This weather app is significantly more detailed and accurate than the pre-installed Apple weather app. It has been my weather app of choice for years. But now, they’ve really amped up all the ads. I could maybe look over that if I didn’t end up getting notification after notification of these random stupid “news” stories that so have no interest in. There’s no way to turn off these notifications and I can get up to like 10 notifications a day about random stuff that isn’t even weather related the vast majority of the time. When in the app I have to scroll so far down past so many ads to try to see all the different weather information available. It’s very frustrating and I get that it’s a free app, but with the pandemic causing a lot less travel for myself, I think I might go ahead and delete this now annoying app even though I really liked it because I’d rather just use the regular weather app that has minimal information but no annoying notifications or ads, and if I need a radar or something I’ll just go online to my local news websites and view their weather information. If you could just AT LEAST turn off those useless notifications that I never said yes to, that would be great, but unfortunately there is no option for me to do that so as long as I have the app installed I will continue to receive these useless news notifications more frequently than I am provided any weather notifications.

Used to have TWC Max, which you had to pay for, but now they got rid of that and bombard you with offers for "premium" on this app. It's chockful of invasive ads. It's inaccurate as the day is long when it comes to precipitation. And why do they consider i.e. early Monday morning for Sunday night? It's stupid. They're more worried about money than accuracy. Developer doesn't respond to emails.

  • Good Info BUT Ads TOO Intrusive Jun 5, 2020

    By StollFamily
First, the information for the current and near future weather from this app is as good as any other weather app and probably a little more timely. It is my preferred weather app and has been for quite a while. To be fair, sometimes it can be very wrong, but 9+ of 10 times it is reliable which is better than other apps. However, the latest few app designs have me so frustrated with the over intrusive positions of the ads. I understand the purpose for having ads...I’m cheap and don’t want to pay, so I accept that I must look at ads to compensate. No problem. Put the big ad first so I’m force to look at it every time. But then let me scroll off of it to see the weather info. In this current app version, I find myself constantly scrolling and having to search for the info I want to see. I know it is there somewhere, but I tend to miss it or just don’t see it through all of the ads. It is too much that I’m not using the app as frequently as I used to...which means I’m not looking at the ads...which I think defeats the purpose. Again I don’t mind having to look at ads, and sometimes i get something that interests me and I even click on them, but this app is supposed to be a weather app, for weather information, and not an ad app with some weather info sprinkled in between. For me 4.5 stars for the info, but 1 star for the app design as it makes me not want to use the app.

Widgets can definitely use a refresh. You ask $30 a year for Premium. You are kidding! These are some of the original widgets from the start of the app. The notification shade video recommendations are rather annoying when you have turned off those notifications and they still appear. And again, the widgets for the old style ones do not format correctly for Pixel phones. The time gets cut off for AM and PM and sometimes even some of the numbers. This is mentioned countless times.

This is my favorite weather app. It gives a multitude of information. A lot more than just the weather. From allergy stats to UV ratings and more. I really love the radar function. I use that to tell when rain is coming my way, so I can plan my day or events accordingly. Or when leaving or going to work. Thanks for making weather easy. 👍

the web pages sometimes look a little busy, but the info is there and usually accurate. Update 4/12/2019 For some reason the app has stopped working. I see offers to buy upgraded version. Maybe that's what they want me to do. It was a great app until it wasn't. Update 7/27/20 I have fallen in love with this app. Its accurate. I get what I want without any hassle. Update 2/23/21 The app is now slow loading and changing pages. I sometimes lose patience and log out without getting info.

Thank you for keeping us up to date on the weather. I found it a problem when we had a hurricane and lost all power and internet. I don’t love the ads but when you don’t have internet and power you are slowly watching it skip and skip and you can’t actually get to the weather until it’s completely over you. In those situations it is very frustrating. I don’t however want to pay for premium to get more accurate and up to date weather. I would rather get it anyways. Most professions give their 100%. I wish you had a solution for when people’s lives matter in such a horrible situation to have it more assessable. When I have internet I completely understand the need to pay for your broadcast with ads but maybe in the area that has devastation we can skip them. 5 sec of ads takes 5 minutes. When your roof is off and you need to know when it’s going to rain the last thing you want to hear is an ad. Now that I have said all that, I appreciate so much the people who go out to tell us what is happening. I watch all night during Laura. I couldn’t watch during delta. I was just too exhausted from the damage. But keeping us up to date is such a wonderful provision and we thank you.

It's a really good weather app. Data seems to be accurate. A lot more so than other apps I've tried. I'd give it a full 5 stars if you had a way to just remove the ads. I don't really want all those other bells & whistles. I also don't want to pay a subscription for the app. I literally just want to do what other apps allow people to do & pay a small, one time fee, to permanently remove all ads. Keep the subscription for those that want it, but give the rest of us a way to just remove the ads.

Great accuracy bit annoying ads. I previously used met Office but noticed it had increasingly poor accuracy. The weather channel is much more reliable. The Downside is the ads are quite annoying, and the only way to get rid of them is a subscription which also gets you extra features. It would be nice if there was an option to get rid of ads with a one off payment without the extra features. I'm not prepared to subscribe to a weather app but would quite happily bung a fiver at it.

Good app, used to be incredible! But at some point all of the ads started to take over, and they slow down the app by a lot. It usually takes opening, closing, and reopening to work properly for me. Oh but don't worry, the horrible ads like how to torch belly fat and empty your bowels every morning never fail to load.

  • Ads Became Too Much Dec 23, 2020

    By gmm43
I used to solely rely on this app for my weather, but when they introduced a premium version of the app, they started including ads to promote the premium version. At first, I decided it was no big deal, surely after a few months of promoting the new premium version, they would roll back the intrusive ads. This was not the case. Every time I open the app, an ad for the premium version pops up. I close the ad and click on the radar... and another ad for the premium version pops up. It’s constant and annoying. If I haven’t upgraded to the premium version yet after having the basic version for so long, I’m obviously not interested. I dread needing to look up the weather. It seems the developers are purposefully trying to make the basic version unappealing so that I have to buy the premium. I started looking into other apps, but the company that provides next best weather app has some ethical issues, so I put off downloading it. I’ve finally hit the breaking point though. I will not buy the premium version, especially after the developers have made the basic version irritating to use, so I just downloaded the other company’s app and I will be deleting this app after I post this review. You’re going to lose more customers than you’ll gain premium version customers if you keep this up. No one wants to pay extra just to look up the weather.

  • Very disappointed Jul 31, 2020

Some features of this new improved app are helpful but basic information being available at a glance was abandoned in favor of flashy modern graphics. I miss a quick daily view with not only temperatures, but also wind speeds and wind direction along with precipitation percentages without having to scroll though a long day to day listing. Also the quality of the radar product is much to be desired with very fuzzy low resolution images that does not clearly display the storm features as well as the old pro version. Also the combination of a past and future radar product is unnecessary and in fact it is confusing, especially since the future images are very low resolution and blotchy. I would love to disable the future function entirely. Whats more (since the weather channel manages accuweather) the old accuweather format was replaced with the new weather channel format. Additionally I was hoping that by purchasing the subscription product of the weather channel that there may be new useful information. Sadly all the subscription buys is the elimination of in product ads. I am certainly looking for a replacement weather product for both the weather channel and accuweather that provides the information that I rely on quickly and at a glance.

  • Hilariously inaccurate-Devs are gaming themselves out of a job Jan 27, 2021

    By Joceanblue
When this app reports the weather, it always chooses the incorrect location. Even though I give full location functionality. This is not new, I’ve been manually correcting this app for a couple years, ever since it was downgraded. But now there is a new hilarious “feature”. When you click on the location it incorrectly has you located at, it asks if this is the correct location. If you click “No” it takes you to a menu to select where you actually are located, then takes you to a subsequent menu to confirm what the problem is, such as “Incorrect location”. Once you select the problem, there is NO SUBMIT BUTTON!!!! Your only choice is to select “back” until you arrive at the same incorrect location again. BUT, IT GETS BETTER!!! If you click on the location, and where it asks if this is the correct location you select “yes”, IT SUBMITS AUTOMATICALLY RIGHT THERE AND THANKS YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK!!! This means the devs are covering up their failed coding by allowing only for positive feedback, sending incorrect and inaccurate positive location metrics back to the business folks who have know idea their app is actually completely broken. Wish I could be a fly on the wall when the SVP of whatever of the Weather Channel finds out the guys they overpaid to make their app literally embedded in the app a feature that only allows positive feedback, and literally prevents submission of location inaccuracies.

App was fine until ads became highly intrusive, since the last update the app will randomly spawn ads while just looking at the forecast "not only in videos like it used to" that go full screen with no way to clear or exit them without closing the app and reopening it. Sometimes these ads have music or sound which again unwelcomed when not expected.

I liked the fact that being older than dirt I could put this on my iPad and make things bigger so that I could see and read everything. I liked the setup except that as with all things meteorologists have a harder time knowing what is going to happen and make guesses as to times of stuff. GOd still has control on most things and weather seems to be changing in our world also. So old age is not the only things that change in life. Why everyone uses light gray writing on a white background and expect someone to be able to see it is idiotic at best. I know all of the younger generation may like new update but I personally liked the old one best. There may have been a few things to change but wish you would make so people had a choice. Older people seem to never get a choice any more. At least there are many more apps I can go to and pray to find one I like. Thanks for nothing but causing me more problems with computers which I am getting ever more aggravated with. Not all old people want so many changes in their later years. Every time I finally get used to something, you geniuses decide to change all around. Just getting used to phones and iPads and all their changes every other day is enough to drive someone crazy and I don’t need any help since as you get older people don’t give me credit for having a lot of common since anyway! Thanks at least for trying to please all the people in the world.
