  • This App is better than the GW Haters Aug 29, 2020

    By Juggsofman
5$ a month for All the books in one easy to use digital application, That’s great value. Compare to buying all the books, that’s Hundreds of Dollars and lots to slog around just for a few quick references and opposition research. The App is clearly superior here. A lot of people mention BattleScribe, but BattleScribe doesn’t contain the stratagems, while the app does, along with a lot of other useful peripheral rules to the game. Lastly is all the nerd neck scrubs who have a perpetual irrational hatred for GW. Many didn’t even buy the Subscription but gave a poor review. Many said the subscription service wasn’t working, it works fine. These inane critics just didn’t update their apps, and instead of taking personal responsibility decided to blame GW. Then there’s the unwillingness to support the community, they don’t want to support the app financially to help it grow and improve. They also don’t want to support it with honest reviews and instead focus on downvoting it to validate their own insane biases. Which can detract newcomers to the hobby from getting a useful product. But the best part is when you download the app and buy the subscription these rejects Aren’t Included. 5 Stars!

  • Poorly organized - but getting fixed Aug 11, 2020

    By Phillip Hill Jr
I am excited about what GW can eventually do with this. They have published a plan on how and what they will be updating. But it needs work, because right now it’s not great. Everything is by Codex. It’s not organized by faction keyword which is how they should do it. I understand why they did what they did but it's difficult to use. There is too much to scroll thru to find warlord traits, relics, stratagems, etc. and since it is by book you need to look up all the Psychic Awakening rules in those books and not with their appropriate Codex. And items like stratagems are alphabetical, so in the PA books faction stratagems and relics are not together. They have recently updated it with the FAQs and power levels and the search function now works. It’s formatted for mobile only so it doesn’t scale to a tablet format. They should use a format similar to AoS. It puts a lot of information in a very compact space. I would consider simplifying quite a bit of the design on the data sheets. It’s too spaced out, and too much space is used for borders etc. I don’t mind the subscription and they gave everyone a free month due to how poorly it worked when rolled out. AoS app had the same issues at first but GW fixed those and got it right. I’m sure they will do that here.

I never thought this day would come. Honestly, GW developing an app was a hopeful dream after digging through FAQs and ERRATA for so long. Once this app was announced, I thought I was being TOO wishful to think they would update the app along with the FAQs and ERRATA, yet low and behold, the app is right in line with the current FAQs. In my eyes, everything has been a success so far. Thank you GW!! The updates they have mentioned is enough to keep me subscribed, as long as GW is DILIGENT with there updates, and COMMUNICATES any issues they are experience with there subscribers, this app will do very well.

Instead of lugging the BRB from indomitus to the shop all I need is this. Any players worth their salt either know how to look something up so the layout is a breeze or wants to get it right and will wait for the extra 30 seconds. Which I’ll say is noticeably shorter than paging through 4 real books. I see people complaining about the subscription price and it seriously makes me laugh. In a year that’s $60 USD or one box of Intercessors. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess you spend more than that on the hobby a year. It’s not a big investment. Lost star is for this rough launch.

Given the massive spike in sales from GW, I am quite shocked that this app remains in shambles. It’s easy to navigate, and on the surface appears to have all the information you’ll need in the palm of your hand. Unfortunately, there are dozens of missing pictures and typos. Just in the Orks section alone the Megatrakk Scrappjet doesn’t list its weapons, a number of pages have empty bullet points (??) and under the Relics page there is a weird overlapping text issue. Oh, and the army list feature hasn’t been added & ive had the app for 3 months. GW could do so much better.

  • Not sure how useful this will be Aug 20, 2020

First off I don’t see how to report bugs. Given the amount of data and the likelihood of error there should be a way of pointing out the problems. I bring this op because there are a lot of stratagems labelled as “core” when they just apply to space marines. Second, it’s structured exactly like the books. The main issue with the physical books is that the rules for a given army are scattered across those books. It should be structured by army. For example, if I go to Drukhari I should see the data sheet for the Reaper right next to the Ravager. I should see all of the stratagems for the army in one place. As it stands I still need to go though all the books. This feels like they are just trying to replicate the existing book model online instead of taking a step back and thinking about what the electronic format can do.

Unstable, full of glitches and still without the premium functions that they were supposed to be activated two months ago. Several Typos on profiles of units and weapons, the search function doesn't work properly and what is annoying is that all of these issues have been reported since launch, but haven't been addressed. It is a shame because it was a great opportunity to have a decent digital support, but at this time is not worthy a penny!

The app was terrible and didn't function at all on release. They promised it would be fixed and months later it is missing major features, has lots of data errors and has made almost no progress in adding what was promised. The fact that this app is a subscription service means it is professionally embarrassing for everyone involved, it doesn't even meet my expectations for a free app.

It's essentially a pre order right now. Game devs allow people to buy their games before the release date. This situation is no different. GW has released an unfinished app and said "Give us money, we'll finish it soon!" So, this app is not fully functional. Those who pay are paying for an unfinished, unpolished, bug ridden app. Would I recommend it in its current state? Definitely not. Does it have potential for the future? Perhaps, but it needs a lot of work. Until then, just use Battlescribe.

Honestly the creators of this app need to quit and start over, it’s absolutely ridiculous that Warhammer has been around this long and you can’t even get a decent app. Every time someone does come up with a great idea that could actually help you guys you sue them and then you come out with this garbage. You want us to pay a $5 a month subscription fee and you app isn’t up to par. You’ve raised prices in store for what? You need to scrap this app and start over and have it for free for the community until you completely finish the app that would make a lot more sense BattleScribe is a better option in my opinion you can create battle forged armies and get information for your units for FREE and until you guys understand that, this app will continue to be an absolute failure. Completely disgusted Gameworkshop completely. Give the people what they want not what you think is best because obviously you still have no clue since 1987. The world is changing put more focus into the future instead of comics. I’m really upset with you all.

I was excited when GW announced they 40K app, thought it was about time! A little disappointed that it’s a monthly subscription, GW track record with subscription apps is terrible white dwarf digital was canceled twice mid-subscription 😵 this has the potential to be cost effective over time if you pay full price for books, problem is unless your new to the game its likely you already have 8th edition books, and some of us have ALL of the 8th edition books so this app currently provides no additional value for +$60 /yr. once some of the 9th Ed books are out then maybe but GW needs to make this work nicely on iPad and soon desktop. I heard buying physical will allow digital unlock, if true and with the battle forge this good be a winner. Right now, not so much.

There are a lot of broken pieces of the app. GUI is fine. Purchased both codex so nothing should be locked down. Individual codex unit entries are missing weapon options or weapon stats for base load out. When you search for that weapon, it shows as locked and cannot be accessed. This app is half-baked and should not be charging $5. This should be in beta and free! I've already shared screenshots with the developer in fairness so they can try to correct. We'll see if/when these get corrected.

New Space Marine codex is in with my code, except now it only shows optional equipment on each datasheet. All the standard equipment has disappeared. I can look it up under the weapons but this is makes the app entirely pointless. It's easier to have the book out, which kind of defeats the point. Hopefully there will be an update to add these things back into each datasheet, otherwise this app is going to go the way of the dodo.

It's more worth it to buy the physical copies of the books. They are a one time purchase and give better in depth detail on how the game works. I'm not the most hard-core dedicated player but I still know a thing or two. And through the eyes of a beginner, this would not fly well. If you want to learn how to play Warhammer, get the books at your Friendly Local Game Store. Cheaper and more in depth.

Can't even create and account. And there is no other way to get my digital copy of the codex. How the hell did you screw up something so simple? Edit: got it to work by creating a dedicated email address for it. The data sheets have a ton of missing information, the app constantly crashes, and the majority if the info i need access to is behind the subscription paywall, despite the fact i have already purchased the codex and thought i was going to get a complete digital copy of it.
