  • Best bang for your buck in strategy games Nov 28, 2017

    By SST1989
This is one of the few games created thus far which has a thorough campaign/tutorial as well as unlimited replay ability across the globe. The best part of this game is that you can't buy greatness. Everything done here is with application of skill and tactics in maneuvering. I would highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates a game of militaristic tactics and doesn’t want to play a game that you have to play 24/7 to be good at or spend real money to be competitive. You could spend 5 minutes a day playing this game and with good application of strategic unit movement, win most of your matches. I have enjoyed making teams and playing the team matches in addition to the solo ranked games. The 8 player team matches are my favorite. I’ve chatted with people from all around the world playing this game and have developed friendships with people I will probably never meet in person. Spend a week trying this game out, you won’t be disappointed.

  • Cool game but... Jun 5, 2018

Interface is not at all intuitive. Its like a computer game they tried to cram onto a little phone screen. Maybe thats the case, i dunno but a friend referred me last week so i’ve stuck with it. I have played several hours and beat the initial 20-round or however many challenge, then a few bots. Now i’m in my 1st actual online game with the friend. Cant figure out how to chat. There are buttons/icons that are indiscernible on a phone screen and when you tap them stuff happens that you dont want. Maybe there’s a tutorial i missed? I dunno but i have this feeling like when you get into an American rental car and its a drawn out system of trial and error button pushing to just sync your cell phone, and the steering wheel is just cluttered with 18 buttons and you literally save time by pulling over and getting out the manual. Is that what you think you want from a time-killer phone app? Then by all means download uni-war! Its not even intuitive figuring out how to chat. Then says my email is not validated and i need to goto the “headquarters/home menu”. So why am I even allowed to be playing?? And how have i been playing this for 10hrs and still dont know what that means or where to find it?? So its fun game but the interface is making me want to give up.

UniWar is the best turn base battling of real players. The Bots aren't very tough but can be useful in learning basics by playing them. They fix the Bugs if you tell them about them. I still think only Engineers, Assimilators, and Infectors should be able to detect Underlings! Hidden should be hidden. I personally wish the timer in Tournaments should automatically skip & kick players that let the clock reach zero. Also when skipped the skipped player should gain no credits or only half credits. If players choose to 'burn' the clock then that is their choice, but if a player lets the clock reach zero then too bad for that player. That would get everyone to adhere to the clock and keep the game moving. (Like the clock in chess or the shot clock in basketball, etc.) I LOVE UniWar and have been playing since Jan. 2010. I purchased for Andriod & iOS too. I'm very grateful for UniWar. Thank you for your hard work in the maintenance and upkeep of UniWar. Sincerely, deNavailles

The game has a lot of very nice features and a good strategy for engaging the players with online play and map customization. The campaign is pretty fun and manageable. The only thing I wish this game would let me do is save maps to my iCloud account or somewhere locally on my phone. I would like to be able to choose from a selection of all the maps I have created. I can never find my uploaded maps. It’s such a shame because I put a lot work into them. Still a huge fan of this game.

I've played this game for years. And enjoyed it thoroughly. Until they started the subscription stuff and ads. Back then it didn't have ads. I understand the need for income to further develop or maintain the game but I would've appreciated a "legacy" version without all the new stuff and be ad free without premium benefits. So I've lowered my rating.

I used to like it. Now, after getting the pro version ages ago it's riddled with ads and won't let you play online unless you beat a never ending stream of ai games. Shame, they ruined a good game.

Such a shame that one of the few good games I can actually find on Android sold out in this way. I gave it 5 stars for pure logical strategy before. But now the intrusion of micro transactions has ruined it. This constant "monetizing" of games is so immersion-breaking and saps all the joy.

Decent game, but they locked the "undo" button behind ads. It's a touch screen game, sometimes your thumb misses the right spot... this is going to lead to frustration, and it is amplified by the fact that I purchased the game. That's a rude call by the devs. Update: they end your ability to earn coins for playing the game after about 10 games. Units cost 1k coins to unlock, ads give 5 coins. Response: I purchased the game, THEN you removed QOL features.

  • New players BEWARE Oct 21, 2017

Update Oct 21, 2017: If you are considering this game, prepare to be frustrated. The developers have unbalanced the game against new players. New powerful units have been added that can only be earned through 5 months of grueling play or by paying up to $100 USD. The frustration comes if you choose to earn the units and begin to play without them. You will face defeat after defeat as these new units will turn the tide in your opponents’ favor. When you do win, you will earn 29 credits per day toward the 4,500 credits needed to purchase all of the units. See? You’re frustrated already. — — — — — Uniwar is one of only a handful of apps that have remained on my home screen for over 5 years. This game allows you to play against other players around the world, but on your schedule. Perfect for people who want a quick game they can play in those micro-moments to unwind and relax throughout the day. Easy to learn, but challenging to master, you will easily find yourself playing with new people year after year.

DONT DOWNLOAD. GAME IS TRASH NOW. I will say Game play is absolutly awesome and has been since it was created (Titans will crush you). I have installed this on every mobile device I have had since it came out. I am deleting this game and never downloading again. It went from free to play to free to play with one or 2 ads. Now it is watch ad to use this unit. Watch ad after every turn. And here watch this ad because we are a bunch of sell outs that only care about lining out pockets.

The game is awesome. It’s like star craft meets chess. Just one small request: can the online games be played quicker by default (1 minute per turn rather than 1 day)? I tried different turn based strategy games and the fast paced ones do feel a lot more engaging. People can focus on one game instead of opening a bunch in parallel, never knowing which one will be abandoned. That said, the game itself is very well designed.

I’ve been playing UniWar with my son for years. Why so long? There are two reasons. First the game design is something like chess in that it is simple but also very complex. The moves and the pieces are basic. But the combinations are endless. The second reason is that the developers keep improving the game. They adjust the pieces for more even play have open architecture for endless maps and add complexity where it’s needed.

  • Better than Advanced Wars Nov 2, 2017

Connection problems with no helpful solution or diagnosis. My connection to the world is fine. Perhaps the server is down? Was 5 stars, but they have introduced two new units for each race that need to be unlocked. It would take several months to unlock them without paying ~$15. These units add significant tactical advantage, but are not necessary otherwise. The three races resemble Starcraft's Terran, Protoss and Zerg races. Fun! The game may not have the absolute most polished or intuitive interface, but it's slick and 95% of the time it makes sense. It's *stable*, has a good matching interface, and even has a rating system. It has online vs friend, online custom, online random game, campaign, solo vs bot, pass-the-device turn-taking....I'm really impressed with the variety of game types available to play. There's easy, normal, and hard bots. Still, no ads and one of the best games I've ever played!

Addictive turn based strategy game. Good for against the computer or without folks around the world. Daily challenges to test your mettle. If you lose an online game, you can go for a revenge match where you switch sides and try again. They also have team games, but I've only played those in the daily challenge. Edit: The turn clock going negative when someone could be skipped would be helpful to decide to skip. In most cases I would rather play out the game, but some abuse it, it seems.

  • Amazing! But crashes a LOT Jan 23, 2018

    By MBTshock
I love this game, I normally despise turn based games, but this one just hits the spot for me. The two problems I have with this game are that it crashes a TON, every 6 or so turns on the campaign It crashes. The second problem is that the locked units take a while to get. Thanks for taking you time reading this.

Ok so this game is great, it’s very fun time waster, but it does have adds that pop up about every 3 turns, I’ve heard other reviews saying this, but they make it sound worse than it is, they’re pop ups that try to get you to buy in game purchases, but they only last 3 seconds.

  • Decent strategy game marred by advertising even for paid app Sep 3, 2020

    By BTB30
I am a very longtime user of the app that paid for it back when there was no advertising. The shift to advertising to a customer who already paid for the app and now asking for payment again is deceptive and outrageous. It was ok when I could turn on airplane mode and still play single player (casual fun even with gimpy AI) but now the developers added a time delay even for this.

Love the game but you do get cheated on the rewards some. States watch the video for an extra 10 coins in addition to the 10 you get normally. You watch the whole video to completion but sometimes you only get 10 total. Not cool.

Amazing concept until the owners of the game attempted a money making scheme. Instead of charging more money for a better product, like new maps etc, they just made the entire system plagued with Ads, or require purchasing new units. They really ruined what was a fun cheap pay to play game, and inundated the experience to extort more money for the same previous good experience, instead of actually making newer better content. Sigh.

The player pool is either too small or matchmaking is unable to provide fairly balanced games. The first turn advantage is absurd and you'll often lose games or be placed at a massive disadvantage before you can even move simply because your opponent got to act before you. You also get no points if you win games too quickly so they actually punish you for doing better. Seems like a cool game on the surface but issues like this erode the appeal quickly.

Got the app back when it was $5. Loved it. Was a great strategy game. Now coming back after 2 years. Balance is wack with 9 new units which r locked. If u want to build them u has to watch an ad. Wanna build next turn gotta watch another ad. Wanna redo turn watch another ad. And if the ad loads, half the time No ad plays or doesn’t work so I’m can’t take turn because I can’t build unit or redo turn. U can of course skip all this with $$$ or a TON of grind. It would honestly take WAY too long to make this game enjoyable again for me. Really disappointed.
