This tuner does it all and at a superior level to all other tuner apps, in my opinion. It has all the features - multiple temperaments, tuner, tone generator, metronome, and a recording feature that lets you play back the recording while the tuner is running. The viewing interface for the tuner is in a class by itself: very precise, not overly busy, providing at-a-glance impression of what you are doing but also greater precision if you want it. Now it provides the option of extreme sensitivity, greater by far than any tuner I’ve seen - you can set a very large amount of real estate on your device to represent just two or six cents, thus challenging yourself to a very high standard - if you wish. Therefore it is suitable for the highest-caliber musicians, useful to professionals and students/amateurs alike. It is the only tuner you will need!

This is a great app. The best tuning app I've used. In fact, tuning is only one of the many things it does well. Can't give it 5 stars because as of around 4 months ago it stutters while tuning. As in, when I play notes into the microphone. It sill works, but it kind of cuts in and out. I've been hoping that it will be fixed in an update but it's been updated several times and the problem persists. Pixel 2 XL. Edit: Latest update fixed my issue. Changed score to 5 stars. Thanks.

This app is easy to navigate and is extremely helpful for most musical activities. Need a metronome? You can set it for anything between 1 bpm or 400 bpm, have 1-16 beats per measure, and it can subdivide all the way up to the 512th note (because you need that). You can also customize the tuner: tune vertically vs horizontally, change the concert A calibration, the instrument transposition, the alternate temperament, the temperament key, and change the theme (light or dark). You can also record a practice session, and the app will score you based on how often you were playing (or singing) in tune. It includes a tone generator. Anyways, a really great app and would definitely recommend for all instrument players.

This is a great app, but it does not work for me. The microphone is always picking up static and notes I play become distorted and unrecognisable when using the record function. Even after tweaking the microphone settings nothing seems to work. It is not my phone hardware's problem as other tuners such as soundcorset works perfectly. Please help. Edit: contacted developers and they solved problem.

I absolutely love this app which enables me to track tuning and vibrato as I play flute, record myself, have a metronome running with a variety of sounds and rhythms, and see personal practice scores for each session! I highly recommend tunable! The only problem is that the latest version has crashed twice in the last 10 minutes since I downloaded it, which is very surprising and unfortunate. I hope the developers will fix it soon. UPDATE: A few days after posting this review, the developers contacted me personally, saying they’d fixed the app and it should be working. And indeed, it works perfectly now! Thank you Tunable!

After trying so many free tuners and having poor luck with them, I was reluctant to pay for Tunable, but the recommendation came from a trustworthy source, so I took a leap of faith and haven't regretted it. Tunable is an excellent tuner app. My one complaint is the same one I've had with every tuner app I've tried, and that is that I can't tune AND record my rehearsals/ practice sessions at the same time. I'm not sure if that's something they can fix with time or not...

Overall best tuner so far. Beautifully designed app, versatile, with an awesome metronome and some more useful features; and very user-friendly! Just had an issue with the tuner chart freezing after a couple seconds (when sustaining a note) but adjusting the mic sensivity option (to the max), in the settings menu, seemed to fix it. Great app!

I find the tuning display very informative. It includes a graph of pitch vs time and a visually useful and helpful indication of how close the current pitch is. I also appreciate the ability to adjust its pickiness for "in tune", and to transpose (e.g. for b flat clarinet). The built in metronome is also very useful, flexible and well designed. It offers quick and easy tempo setting via a band of tempos near the bottom, tap to set tempo, adjustable beats per measure and subdivisions per beat. And, of course, it can be used in tuner mode (including stopping and starting it). The only thing I miss is a spectrum display (like TonalEnergy).

I really wish this app were updated. The iOS version had a few really nice tweaks that were supposed to come to Android... But the last update was over 4 years ago... I love this app, but it seriously needs to update. I'm very close to using a different app entirely for my metronome and tuning needs. I wrote to the devs about 2 years ago to request custom metronome markings, and it seemed at the time like they just didn't care. Unfortunate.

Tunable is all around the best tuner/met/drone on the App Store. With other apps you have to pay monthly to get half of the quality of tunable tuner/met/drone. The tuner can get as accurate as 2 cents and the tuner even tells you the hertz. The metronome shows each count clearly and it even has access to all sorts of subdivision. The drone is on point too. When I asked my Instructor which tuner to get tunable was the first app he mentioned. In conclusion don’t waste your money on a membership and just get tunable. Trust me throughout marching band tunable was a savior.

This is a great tuner. However, as a professional musician, sometimes I just need to check tuning quickly, without having to close out windows asking me to update the app (frequently) or look at the bouncing window at the bottom, asking me if I want to start a session. If you can tell me how to disable these, I’ll change my rating. I will update on my own time, without having to close that window at the start of an orchestral rehearsal. And I will never “tap to start a session” ... please make that go away!

Hello- it had happened to me several times now that the metronome doesn’t go to the tempo I’ve clicked, or it changes but is completely unsteady! This occurs especially when I am using the subdivisions. Was using tunable in a lesson today and the we were both shocked at the unsteadiness of the clicks that we were hearing come out! If you could fix this that would be great!

After the last update, this app has been stuttering and does not have a smooth display anymore. This makes it very difficult to tune as it slowly tries to figure out what you are playing. I have tried force stopping the app and reinstalling it but that does not seem to work. I am on a Google Pixel 4 XL. As I wrote this message I saw a update available and has fixed this problem. Thank you!

I enjoy using this app, and it is always on when I’m in the practice room. The metronome functions as it should and provides all the functions you would expect short of a Dr. Beat. The tuning app is nice as well, I especially like the recording feature which allows me to go back and listen to myself with the tuner right, so you can see and hear what you’re doing, and then and be able to analyze and see what’s what. Super nice feature! Overall can’t recommend it enough, well worth the small investment.

This has been my favorite tuner for a while now. It's super precise and the interface really helps to visualize your tuning correctly. However, now that I play an A somehow it registers it as an A flat, which is weird, because I used my old tuner and it was right. It seems like this update registers everything as a semi tone flat, because it hasn't happened before. I even checked if the parameters were in the right place.

Honestly most everything on here is pretty great. The tuning part can hear some of my lower notes on bass trombone, which some apps can't. The metronome can be a bit confusing to use at first, but is otherwise great. Only thing is sometimes the app stops working on my pixel 3xl when an update comes out and it can take a bit for an update to come along and fix it.
  • Tuning function isn't working correctly Aug 29, 2017

    By Turtles are fun
Every time I try to tune, it simply stays locked in whatever area I first opened the app up to. Instead of making tuning easier as I thought it would do, it's made it so much more difficult and frustrating then it needs to be. App is also extremely and very laggy, again causing much frustration and making it very difficult to work with. Starting to regret buying it.

I wanted early music temperaments and a wide range of A frequencies. I found them here with a nice screen showing my actual pitches in reference to the 12 chromatic tones. Actually that gets to the one inadequacy of this (and every other) tuning app. The idea of 12 chromatic steps is an equal temperament outcome that should not be imposed on other temperaments. A whole step really being 9 commas, such that a minor half-step is 4 and a major is 5. Thus a G# is a comma lower than an Aflat.
  • Great tuner & metronome Feb 21, 2017

    By Anon5790427
Love this app, use it all the time in my practice (I'm a professional flute player). Adjust precision of tuner based on level, drone tones, built in metronome, this app is worth well more than it costs! Just one issue I've noticed is that on my iPhone 5s sometimes, it doesn't recognize the built in mic(s). If I turn off input and then turn it on again, it usually recognizes the right mic and then it's fine. This hasn't happened on my iPad though.
  • Good Aug 18, 2017

A really good app with everything you need, except I would love if they would add a feature that allowed you to see how well in tune you're recordings are. Also it would be helpful to add something that can stop the tuner, it's annoying to always have it on and that also drains the battery
  • Easy to use but costs money May 13, 2020

    By There's no more names
This app is simple but it comes with a lot more stuff than just a tuning app. It has tone generators and like it said, metronome. There are other apps that can do the same thing as tunable but are free, use if you have an extra $9 and need a tuner

Out of many options. This one is easy to use. The recording and scoring option is a great guidance to monitor progress The only thing is, it shuts down while playing more than 4 minutes. Maybe it is my settings.

The new design looks great, while the new functionality gives a lot of new options for using the app. While Siri shortcuts is supported, the one thing I’d love is shortcuts app support. It’s the one thing keeping this off of 5 stars for me.

Good app, good functionality. Unfortunately it seems the tuner breaks after having the app for a while. My teacher had the issue when he first showed me this app. Worked fine for about 3 months and now I have the same behaviour. Tuner simply frozen up, maybe once every 30 seconds it will detect audio and give feedback but this only lasts a second or 2 before freezing again. Android both. Known fix: new phone
  • Don’t trust the metronome Nov 11, 2020

    By garagebandbrad
The metronome has been driving me crazy, something with the audio/visual sync feels off and then the click itself rushes. I recorded it into Logic Pro and sure enough the beats are off. After just 8 measures it’s noticeably off the beat. Hope this can be fixed because I love the tuner, even if it can’t really find the pitch on my upright bass as much but that’s to be expected. App looks beautiful!
  • It's a great app. But... Jun 27, 2017

    By #TheRealJamsHub
I really want to like this app but it's hard to when I get a microphone error message every time it updates. I mean, come on. Get the bug together. It's also a little hard to navigate the settings and the metronome at first, but after a few months you get it. I give it a 3 because when it is working it works great.
  • Use sparingly Feb 12, 2020

As a violinist, I find this good for reference, but not for frequent use, as it does not do well with all strings. For example it shows the G string to be too low when in fact it is perfectly tuned with the D. What is more important is the relationship between the notes, not each note on its own.
