  • So much Potential Oct 29, 2020

    By Vyrooka
My family has been having a great time with this app and I applaud the creators for seizing the opportunity to make this. As with anything, I do see some ways to improve the experience with this app. 1. Consider adding some sort of light feature to the apartment buildings. I find that they tend to be a waste of time and there is no “porch light” type feature to let us know a door inside may have candy. Perhaps light up a window? Otherwise I find myself skipping them completely. 2. De-clutter feature of some sort. So many doors to go through and while I understand that may be half the fun, sorting through so many doors, the game can run laggy and glitchy at times when going through very dense areas. Perhaps there would be a way to filter out inactive doors, maybe folks who haven’t been active in two weeks or so because let’s face it, if they haven’t logged in in two weeks then they are neither giving or receiving candy at this point. Thank you to the developers for creating such a fun concept of a game and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. This kind of at home, wholesome entertainment is definitely needed right now!

So I think this app is very useful considering we are in a never ending pandemic and we can’t go trick or treating. The only issue I have is that a lot of peoples doors are closed, which means you don’t receive candy from them. The way to solve the problem is by zooming out very far and going to a crowded area, all of the doors will be very close together, and knock on all of those doors. It takes around 5 mins to knock on all of the doors depending on how much candy you receive. I got 2 pieces of candy from a crowded area and I’m going to go back to a different area and hopefully get more. Even if you can’t find an area the app gives you 1-2 pieces of candy anyways on a daily basis. It does work but if you take 30mins-1hr out of your day to play this then I think you can find a bit of candy. You also redeem the candy to get real life candy and I assume it either ships it to your house or next time you go grocery shopping you show confirmation? Not sure, but this app is very fun and you get candy out of it! ——— I came back to review again and it is so much better now! The porch lights are very obvious and you only have to refresh the app once in 30 mins to make sure the porch light is still on. I think that improved it a lot because it is way easier to find candy. Last time it took one day to get two pieces of candy and now you can get however much you want. 10/10 would recommend!

  • Please fix the glitch Oct 23, 2020

Update: As promised, I updated my rating. This app is just what the kids need for Halloween. I am so happy they fixed the glitch. Hallows is saved! I would give this app 5 stars if they fix the issues I’ve suddenly come across. The app was great, at first. Other than having to “knock” on lots of doors to get candy, my children loved it. We were able to gets lots of friends, family, and neighbors to sign up and collected a substantial amount of candy. We were also able to keep our door stocked with candy for visitors as well. Three days ago, my friends list, which had well over 100 friends, was suddenly empty. To make matters worse, the app will not allow me to add any new friends. So basically, we are back being “ghosted”. We all joined together to keep our Our doors stocked so the kids can enjoy Halloween, and now my family cannot participate. If they fix this issue, I will update my rating.

Since the lamp update the app has gotten better for me and my siblings ( they added lamps and you’ll know when a house has candy if the lamp is lit) so we are now enjoying it way more but there’s now a treat limit for a certain amount treats get within time which is very unfair for people with more then one person at one house my mother lets us get a certain amount of candy then the next person switch to there profile and get there amount but every won’t get a turn because there is only a certain amount of treats you can get so that would be a good update another suggestion would be more games and following with games it should be more things you can do with your points and there should be more events besides those little complaints the app has gotten better and we now enjoy more but I will only give it 4 stars because it still needs a slight improvement

Everyone forgot about the app. The cash out minimum was way too high. It was too hard to actually get candy and had few ways to get candy outside of "trick or treating". The app also didn't explain what the "ghosts" were for from the mini games. More explanation, other ways to get candy (like from the mini games), and a lower cash out minimum would make this app a lot better for future use.

Awful app. Bought candy and all 100 pieces were gone within 2 minutes. Both of my girls were devastated that they both only got 1 piece of candy so we ended up going to the store to buy them some candy. No doors around us gave out candy but they all sure took candy. When it came to redeeming the candy you have to at least have 12 pieces so the only option is to donate it. Don't waste your money just go buy your kid a bag of candy and save them the disappointment.

Update: I have tried to retrieve the candy credits with no success. I was unable to order and have the candy shipped so I opted for the coupon. The coupon should have been over $17.00 for 163 credits and I received a $1.00 off coupon. I've called and emailed twice and no response. Great concept but almost impossible to find candy. I should have read the reviews before buying candy to hand out and getting my kiddos excited.

Door interface was glitchy. I spent a lot of time on the app with two kids only to end up with 10 candy credits. That's fine, but when I went to redeem them, I found out that you needed at least 12 just to be able to redeem at Walmart. I ended up donating $0.83 to the boys and girls club. My kids were disappointed. I know most of the problem was a lack of participation, but the entire setup was a bit misleading.

I thought this app was a good idea at first, and my daughter was excited since she couldn't go out and trick or treat this year. She earned 75 candy credits, and her treat bag shows exactly which candies she earned. It was difficult to even earn that many since only 1 in 1000 doors were available across the whole map. It's now November 1st and we want to redeem her points for the candies it said she earned, and turns out she needs 180 candy credits in order to redeem. Which means she gets none.

I keep getting the boo something went wrong whenever I knock on doors and I still think they’re needs to be a way to filter out which doors have candy or not Update! They put on “porch lights” so that you can tell which doors are open to the public, unfortunately not a lot of people buy candy. I think each door should get 30 credits for free and then be asked to buy more. But overall it’s pretty good! 2nd update! So far I have earned over 200 candy credits and I just redeemed them at Walmart! It’s not a scam! I think alot of people are getting mad about the lack of doors open but at the end of the day if you download the app you should also buy candy because if everyone who downloads the app only trick or treats, no one will ever get candy.

I have had this app since it’s birth and just like every other new app it had its flaws and hiccups. It took the creators some time, but now there are lights that shine next to the doors that have candy to hand out!! By far, the best update and it’s obvious that MARS listened to the suggestions of parents. Makes trick or treating for my kiddos far more enjoyable 😆 Keep in mind (to the participants) that candy givers can limit how many candy pieces they give out per day. So their light may be on, but they could have reached their limit of “20” or “30” pieces. I, for instance, have 150 pieces of candy in my bowl, but I only give out 20 pieces a day. Thank you MARS for making this app so much better and, more importantly, listening to our suggestions! Happy Halloween 🎃

UPDATED: We went back through and earned more candy. It seems as though some of the stuff was out of stock when we tried to redeem originally but was still listed as an option to pick. This time they earned more and chose a different combo to redeem and it worked. Received confirmation email from Walmart within minutes of redeeming. BEST ADVICE: scroll and look for the porch lights. That’s how you know if candy or not. Original: My kids earned enough candy to redeem through Walmart but when we go to checkout it says there’s been an error and to try again later. Very disappointing. It was lots of work and time to earn enough candy to redeem and upsetting that we can’t now.

  • Super cute app that allows for trick or treating all month long. Oct 4, 2020

    By mharr84
I actually forgot about this Thursday so I created an account today. For those that are wondering (based on prior comments), you use the parents DOB to enter into the app then kids create their own avatar. I also had a lot of problems trying to buy candy in the app but learned the work around was going to the site on the internet instead of the app and it worked. You can also set limits as to how much candy you give away each day and if you want to allow all kids (public) or just private kids (those you know) virtually trick or treat. I only wished their would be something that would show you which houses are public and have candy vs which ones are out, so you don’t try to knock on 800 doors to no availability (something my little ones got annoyed with really quickly and is the only reason I won’t give the app 5 stars).

It’s a great idea but you need to have the doors not show up unless they are open for trick giving.. or have a light shin on them ( like having your porch light on ). I am aware most people will probably not set their door to give out candy until Halloween day.. but that also means the kids will have to spend even more time just clicking doors then getting to enjoy time with their family.. if the doors were lit then they could just go to them.. maybe even have a cool down ( like when you walk from house to house normally so kids ( and parents ) don’t just go around and hit the whole nation of houses in an hour and cash out.. but the “Ghosted” is purely disappointing especially to the kids.

Update: I added a star because you did add the light on the door. However, most of them still say ghosted. Halloween is in 3 days! The dev says they are creating new features to make it more friendly. Because of that promise, I'll keep the app on my phone for the kiddo in case it gets easier to find open doors. Living in a suburb of a big city, there's so many doors and we got frustrated with visiting so many with none open. The mini game is on but what are the credits earned from it used for?

I wanted to wait till after Halloween to taste the app because maybe it was that people in our area were waiting to put candy out till that night. Unfortunately no that wasn't the case and all other options for my 10 year old were canceled (thank you COVID-19). Great idea poorly executed with all doors saying closed or something went wrong. Top that off with at the end you'd have to have over 400 candy credits to amount to something or 12 credits equaling a $1. Very disappointed.

  • Seems like a money grab by the developers Oct 20, 2020

    By Ttessa223
This app is good on paper but poorly executed. There are thousands of doors and many all across the country, but each person who creates a door needs to pay to stock candy at their door. What seems to be happening is lots of people downloading and creating doors, not many buying candy or opening trick or treating at their virtual door to trick or treaters. Additionally, there are LOTS of glitches. People who buy candy but yet kids are ghosted at their door. I bought 70 pieces of candy, it tells me I handed out 19 and have 50 left. Something is not right here. Knocking on doors for an hour and getting 1-2 pieces of candy, etc. in order to exchange the candy for real candy, the kid needs to have over 120 candy credits. It seems like a money grab by the developer — selling candy credits, but nearly impossible for kids to redeem for real candy. Good idea... needs A LOT of work. Kids have lost interest and I’m out $10 for candy that people can’t even get when knocking on my door.

  • Fix the public setting on/off glitch*4theChildren Oct 29, 2020

    By 30+mom
I turned off the setting to allow public to trick or treat last night, intending to turn it on after school hours today. I was curious and just checked, somehow it was turned back on and all my daily allowed candy is gone! (9am) My children spent two hours “trick or treating” on my phone last night and didn’t get ONE! Only from the skittles door! The people taking treats are most likely adult children who are doing it after midnight. I did this to help other children who are stuck inside like my four children are. They need to fix this glitch and they should have a time setting where your door is closed from. So from 3-9pm like test or treaters do! My kids can’t trick or treat during e-learning so how are these other “children” doing it? I feel like that would help THE CHILDREN get candy and feel better on losing out on trick or treating. That’s what this is all about CORRECT??

The app is a great concept but it was impossible for my daughter to find candy and ended her grandmother buying candy so she could cash out. No light came on we checked many times threw the past week and on Halloween. Also the app crashed many times and i had to repeatedly log in so my child could even try to get candy.

I had high hopes after hearing from the company on my review but no improvement was made. I bought $10 worth of candy and it was all taken. I complained that we only got candy at 1 door. The company said they updated and added lights for doors with candy. There was only 1 door with a light in our area. She clicked on almost 200 doors& nothing. Now, we can't get the 3 pieces she earned because it's not the 130 piece minimum. WORST WASTE of MONEY EVER!
