Some really good features. Some lacking. Location updates could be a lot faster. Working alot better, since my last review. Location updates now are alot faster. Recent trips is taking way to long to update, has been four days now?? The GPS mapping is terrible the entire program needs to be rewritten, directions for travel, traffic info are bad, when looking up a destination there will be a specific listed up to 10 times all with the same exact address?? Day 1. So far it seems like most of the issues I've seen from negative reviews have been corrected. I'll update as I go, but the app is pretty nice. easy to use and understand and it appears that Toyota takes their customer experience seriously by correcting the issues I thought I was going to have that are no longer present. Very nice job Toyota. thank you. I hope you continue to take buyer feedback as seriously moving forward into the life of my new vehicle.

I like this app but the previous one was much nicer looking and easier to use! The new app has more features and provides an easy access to all the information that you possibly need but i just don’t like the way that the remote connection section looks like, the design of the screen was way better in the previous app, It used to show the car from above and if it was green color it meant that it’s all good and safe but if a door or window was open or somehow at risk the color would’ve been red, it was so easy to understand at the ease of a look but now you only have the start engin and door lock/unlock button plus the hazard button on the main screen and if any additional info needed you have to tap on the status button and look further! I hope they improve the design of the main screen in order to show more info about the vehicle at the first place!

Originally I was not able to get past the login/register screen. Called Toyota and they said I needed to enroll in the services from inside the car using the sos button first. I did that and roughly 24 hours later I got an email explaining all of the connected services. I was then able to login to the app and register my car. This may help others having issues!! 4 stars as the website just said they were having web difficulties. This may be the case but the app being down for almost a week is cause enough for 4 instead of 5. If it was just because I needed to register through the car first then 4 of 5 because of the generic website trouble issue message when it was because I needed to do something else.

I recently purchased a 2020 Highlander with the remote start and downloaded this app. I was receiving tons of status alerts on my cell phone about unlocked doors. Each time it was when my car was in the garage. So I changed the notification settings so that I wouldn’t receive them if the doors were unlocked. Well, I’m still receiving them. I’ve tried everything including powering off my phone after I changed the settings. Why have this so you can change it, if it doesn’t work?? You need to correct this ASAP. And along with other's comments regarding the drivers score and locations, I didn’t like the fact that it was recording everything that I do, so I opted out of that. Haven’t used the remote start much yet, but I don’t like how it shuts the car off as soon as you open the door. Why set it up to do that? I’m still pretty new to this app and will send an an updated review after I’ve used it for a while.

For the past 2 days, I have had nothing but trouble trying to connect my Toyota app with the Toyota+Alexa. It would disconnect and I could just easily fix it by putting in my password. Here lately, forget it. I've had mine since May. This is ridiculous. Pay $500 a month for the note just for my apps not to work. Smh, what a joke. Then, you're supposed to be able to unlock your car or start with the app and these other great things with it, that's a lie. I want mine fixed

Definitely still some work to be done on the app. I love being able to remote start my Highlander Hybrid from a half mile away, inside a convention center, hotel, whatever. But, once started, the timer counts down, and it continues to say the vehicle is running if the timer runs out, or you go out and open the door, etc., and the engine shuts off. Really big disconnect! Also, not happy that the engine shuts off when the door opens. It doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold outside, it should continue to run. Make the safety feature trying to put it in gear without the fob present, not opening the door. That’s a very poor choice, since you can’t remote start without the doors being locked. Also, when remote starting in cold weather, I love that it retains the seat heater settings, but I can’t see any way to turn on the front or rear/side defrost systems, and those settings are NOT retained, when the vehicle is shut off. It’s a very odd and unfortunate series of features, and it was particularly obvious who disjointed this system is, today, when my car was covered in ice and snow, warmed up 10 minutes, then shut off just before I got outside. My phone said it was still running, the front windshield was not defrosted, but my seat was warm when I got in. The dev team needs to work on this some more with engineering and turn this into a much more logical set of options.

Update: after stopped using app due to trial ending earlier than it should, decided to subscribe to it for a month to test things out; nothing changed. Vehicle will not connect to the App. Customer Service reps are completely useless in assisting my issue. Dealership all booked, and will take a few weeks to diagnose issue. Will not refund even though service not provided. App deserves a 0 stars.

I have a 2018 Camry XSE. Bought new 3 years ago. For 95% of the time the remote start function ($8/month) has worked fine. The problem is when there is a problem. Today, I cannot log in to the app. Call the support number. After 10 minutes of wasted time providing every piece of information possible, a nice lady says “oh, Sirius XM provides the support for your vehicle now”. I assume this is because it’s now over 3 years old and they push off the “used” fleet to SXM as they would handle enrollment and free trial on a used car newly purchased. I know this is not good. To no one's surprise, the Sirius XM rep is clueless. Instructs me to get in the car to reactivate. I explain to her it’s not a problem with the car, it’s a problem with logging into the application that has worked for years. I doubt she owns a Toyota or has the app on her phone. She gives me the first number I called so I’m put in a circle. I don’t bother. Usually, these things work themselves out on Monday morning when I suspect the nerds come back to the office and realize there’s been a problem all weekend. Reset some things and I can then log in again. This is typical of every time I’ve had an issue with the remote start function. Horrible support from people that probably have no idea what the app they’re supporting even looks like.

  • Pay for features that they will cancel and keep blaming you Sep 4, 2021

I’ve had the remote service since day one I bought a 2019 Toyota Camry xse. When my free trial ended I opted to do the month to month for the services which is $8 ok fine after a few months or so I saw where they charged my card for $80 which is the yearly price well I didn’t choose yearly so they refunded me gave me a free 3 months and I started back at my $8 again here they go charging my card $80 again well this time they couldn’t so so it canceled my subscription so I said ok I don’t care but the feature is nice and why not use it if you pay extra for this so months go by bc I’m still mad. I went in again and opted out for monthly bc it clearly ask do you want monthly or yearly went great and low and behold after 3 months again they tried to charge me $80 again so I call in the phone for over 45 mins only to be told they had something happen to their system and they would refund me my $8 and give me my service back so I would see a charge and then a refund seems I still paid for it twice smh I’m not paying for a year service and I may get rid of my car and your not gonna give me any of my money back for a paid for subscription I swear I may just switch to Honda I’m so over fighting with Toyota my car was purchased brand new and I can’t even fully enjoy it. I’m so livid!!!
  • Frustrating app, doesn’t work consistently Feb 22, 2020

    By 2020RAV_hybrid_owner
Like so many other reviewers on this app, we just purchased a 2020 RAV4 limited hybrid and the ability to remote connect to our vehicle was a big draw for us. You see, we live in a northern state where the temps drop below zero in the winter so we decided if we are buying a brand new vehicle for the first time, we wanted to finally be able to remote-start our engine to warm the car up and defrost our windows in the morning. However, this app only worked “consistently” for the first full week of owning our vehicle and has since only worked intermittently (about 50% of the time). This is extremely frustrating because there is no convenient way to resolve the matter (hence why I’m now leaving a review). I’ve left “feedback” via the app, which is supposed to be how you report problems concerning your connectivity with the app, but I have never received a reply back or instruction on how to fix it. When you call in, you wait on hold for long periods of time and when you go to the dealership they are unsure of how to help you. Toyota really needs to find a fix to this “buggy” app as so many reviewers have aptly described it. They should also reset the one-year free trial membership once the matter has been fully resolved since we have not been able to rely on it’s usability day-to-day.
  • Interferes with Iphone functions Aug 16, 2021

    By Yappy WA
I was so excited to try this app with our new 2021 RAV4. Had problems loading it but the support folks were great to work with though it took days to get it loaded and working. But the app only works with one phone per car. Most people have their own phone but in my household my husband and I share the use if the car, so only one of us can use the Toyota app and all it’s features. That stinks. And on top of that the app takes control of my Iphone sounds so although I get the incoming call alert none of the other alert sounds work, such as for incoming mail or messages and I also have no sounds at all for other functions so I can not use the Map function for navigation. I like to use my Iphone maps app for navigation so did not purchased the navigation feature in our new car. Since the toyota app “silences” my iphone I can’t use my iphone navigation while my phone is connected through the car. So I have to make a choice of either being able to make and receive calls hands free or use my phone navigation. It Can’t do both. I wish someone at the toyota dealership would have informed me of this before we bought the car. I even made a trip to my phone service provider and they confirmed it’s not a phone problem- it’s the Toyota app problem.

Update: This is going to be my last Toyota purchase. I like the car itself, it's beautifully done but they seem to be unable to execute on a software part. Their response is useless. This app is absolutely horrible. Most of the time it simply doesn't work. Account sign in is phenomenally bad, giving me "Account sign in was interrupted, wait a few minutes and try again". I'm supposed to wait unknown amount of time when I need this app the most. It is slow and unreliable. Really poor job, Toyota.
  • Extremely Disappointed Mar 14, 2020

Recently bought a 2020 Rav-4 XSE Hybrid and choose this model in part for the Remote Start feature. Living in the north, having this is extremely helpful for cold morning where there is frost, snow, etc. I originally downloaded the Toyota Remote App since it has higher ratings, but after entering my VIN I received a message that “this app is no longer supported. Please download the Toyota App”. After following these directions and downloading the Toyota App and setting up my account, I then followed the instructions for Remote Services several times. Each time receiving a response that it can take up to 24-hours for connection AND each time receiving a message the the connection failed. I am extremely disappointed in Toyota with this product. I have a friend who has a Chevy and has Remote Start button on the key fob in addition to the app. Seems like sending new key-fobs with this button may be the best option with so many negative reviews stating the same issue. I’d either like a permanent fix to this in the app and/or a replacement key-fob with the option to remote start from the fob Toyota. If like some answered Toyota after spending my hard earned money of a failed product that you keep marketing as a feature. If it doesn’t work, it’s not a feature!

I have been using this app on and off for two years (usually cancel during summer time). I recently started using it again and noticed a constant need to resign in, even if Face ID is set to active. Which wouldnt be a bad thing if it had better integration with password managers, but it’s not the case (as I have to manually search. Maybe auth url was updated). But two years ago the always deauthing was a major problem with a lot of users, sad that it is still not addressed to this day. I only experienced the deauthing maybe once a week myself last fall. Please give us the option to just keep active if Face ID is set. If my bank can do it, so can you. App is nice otherwise, (why it’s getting two stars over one) but I think I’d rather have a 3rd party system with a key fob. That and I wouldn’t have to pay extra for a feature that should just be included considering the price of vehicles. (Talking about remote start feature). Most people don’t even know their Toyota fob more than likely can remote start (sort distance) but it’s rather annoying combo to do, pretty much forcing you to use the app or go 3rd party.

I was bummed when I paid almost $30,000 for my RAV4 hybrid LE only to find out that the TPMS does not actually give you a tire pressure. So when some blogs stated that the Toyota app does it I was excited. Unfortunately, the app DOES NOT show the tire pressure it always only say NA. I went to my Toyota dealer and even they could not figure it out. They sent me to servicing and they didn’t know either which is quite sad. Finally the associate had to google the information to see what he could find and saw a blog stating that this is an issue with the app and that Toyota is suppose to be updating the app as some customers depending on their phone model and vehicle year can see it while others in newer models and with newer phones cannot. UPDATE your app to see tire pressure please!!! I shouldn’t have to wait until the TPMS light is on to know what my tire pressure is. Not sure who sat in an office and thought this upgrade was a good idea but it is stupid. This is a basic feature most cars should already have on them why I even have to use an app to do this and one that doesn’t even work is beyond my comprehension.
  • Works when it wants to Aug 29, 2021

The app works. It’ll lock, unlock, and start my Tacoma and knows where it’s parked. But there are two issues with the app. 1. The biggest is that it will log itself out for me and error out. Basically, when I open the app it’ll give me the log in screen, but when I try to log in it just loads the log in screen again. If I force close the app and reopen it, the app loads in already logged in. This wouldn’t be such an issue if the Apple Watch app didn’t need the app to be logged in all the time to work. So anytime I’m trying to lock my truck from my watch, it asks me to log in on my phone, thereby defeating the purpose of the watch app. 2. The service is slow. The app itself is fast, responsive, and works well (when it’s logged in). But it doesn’t immediately perform the action when I ask it to. Once I requested it to unlock the doors and stood next to the truck to see how long it would take. Took at least 5+ minutes for it to actually lock. Oftentimes I don’t even bother with the app and just wish my car fob just had a start button.
  • Functional, but not practical Mar 9, 2021

The app has only three functions: operate the door locks, operate the hazard lights, and remotely start the vehicle. You can never be sure that any of these functions have been carried out, because the app does not always automatically update the vehicle status. If you try to lock the doors, it will often go off in a processing fugue, necessitating a reset by closing out the app and reopening. Then it it will say that the doors are still unlocked. Press the lock doors button again, and thirty seconds later you’ll get a notification that the procedure failed because the doors were already locked. Try to start the vehicle and you’ll get a notice that the vehicle failed to start because the doors aren’t locked. So you have to go through the tenuous door Locking procedure just to start the car. It’s often quicker and less irritating to just walk out and start the vehicle manually. Why not just make locking the doors part of the remote-start procedure? How about adding some other functions to the app, like turning on the defrosters and seat warmers?

During my initial set up using an android phone it works. GPS and apps will connected and load up. After that, it will connect but GPS and apps won't work. I'm still waiting on how to connect my android auto. Apple Carplay work fine.

"Account sign in was interrupted..." almost each time. By the time I'm able to put all the credetials, confirm with the authentication code and finally login, I'm already by my car and can start it manually. I don't think I'll continue to pay for the functionality that doesn't work properly and practically useless this way.
  • Toyota Connected Services Pay To Play Jul 22, 2021

    By Tunafishbrain
I paid $30k for a car and an ADDITIONAL CONNECTED SERVICES FEE who’s remote app works about 30% of the time. Sure it’s cool to be able to see real time info for your vehicle, and I do love my 2019 RAV4, but YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR CONNECTED SERVICES. This means on top of the vehicle cost, you’ll pay for access through the app every year. The catch is that the app updates at least a few times a year with no describable benefit. Improvements are expected and fantastic and I would welcome them as such. Alas, the newest so called improvements log me out of the app every time. More than that, I frequently LOOSE FUNCTIONS for a service I am paying for, and the app simply fails and asks me to try again later. It seems like a company as grand as Toyota would be stellar at this upgrade. NOPE!!! Just spent 30 minutes trying to log in to my account while the, “New and Improved,” version of the app just couldn’t recognize my credentials; The ones that are stored on my phone. The same ones I’ve used for two years. My keys are 1.5 miles away. The app worked this morning, but NOT ANY MORE!!!! What a scam, Toyota. Do better!!!!! I’ve certainly paid you enough to have reasonable functionality. DO NOT PAY FOR CONNECTED SERVICES. IT’S A SCAM!!!!!

Please fix the bug that limits only one person to be associated with a VIN. After paying so much for advanced features, this is important to finish the job and understand that multiple drivers operate a single vehicle is normal and a required feature. Look forward to seeing an update promptly.
