This app used to more or less work but not as good as the previous app that you no longer support. Today,May 6, there was an update for the app. After updating I had to sign in again and re-enter my VIN. When I hit add it tells me the VIN is unauthorized. I have tried 5 times, deleted and reinstalled the app and tried 5 more times to no avail. I can find no phone number or website to contact Toyota for assistance so I’m stuck submitting a review which I find totally unacceptable. I’m paying a fee to be able to remotely lock and start my vehicle. I expect a a quick response and resolution to this problem. Update: Within two days of my initial review Toyota contacted me and had the app working. They even called me the following week to check that everything was still working. If I Was only rating their Customer Advocates I would give them a five. The app itself while it seems to be working now still seems clunkier in some ways than the app it replaced.

I like this app but the previous one was much nicer looking and easier to use! The new app has more features and provides an easy access to all the information that you possibly need but i just don’t like the way that the remote connection section looks like, the design of the screen was way better in the previous app, It used to show the car from above and if it was green color it meant that it’s all good and safe but if a door or window was open or somehow at risk the color would’ve been red, it was so easy to understand at the ease of a look but now you only have the start engin and door lock/unlock button plus the hazard button on the main screen and if any additional info needed you have to tap on the status button and look further! I hope they improve the design of the main screen in order to show more info about the vehicle at the first place!

Originally I was not able to get past the login/register screen. Called Toyota and they said I needed to enroll in the services from inside the car using the sos button first. I did that and roughly 24 hours later I got an email explaining all of the connected services. I was then able to login to the app and register my car. This may help others having issues!! 4 stars as the website just said they were having web difficulties. This may be the case but the app being down for almost a week is cause enough for 4 instead of 5. If it was just because I needed to register through the car first then 4 of 5 because of the generic website trouble issue message when it was because I needed to do something else.

I recently purchased a 2020 Highlander with the remote start and downloaded this app. I was receiving tons of status alerts on my cell phone about unlocked doors. Each time it was when my car was in the garage. So I changed the notification settings so that I wouldn’t receive them if the doors were unlocked. Well, I’m still receiving them. I’ve tried everything including powering off my phone after I changed the settings. Why have this so you can change it, if it doesn’t work?? You need to correct this ASAP. And along with other's comments regarding the drivers score and locations, I didn’t like the fact that it was recording everything that I do, so I opted out of that. Haven’t used the remote start much yet, but I don’t like how it shuts the car off as soon as you open the door. Why set it up to do that? I’m still pretty new to this app and will send an an updated review after I’ve used it for a while.

Great Application! I know most of the car apps are similar but I like the layout on it compared to the only one I have used which is Fords app and Toyota has a working app in a sense that it never freezes or is slow or take awhile to update if I want to check my dashboard (fuel tank gauge and miles) aswell as the infotainment system in the car(Corolla SE) and how they did it is wonderful its very fast and responsive very quickly some cars take a good half a minute no exaggeration or uptoo 1min

Updated my rating to 4 stars after 4 months of evaluating the new update. it appears to be stable and Toyota is acually updating the app more frequently. There is still a glitch where the Toyota app overwrites and kills Alexa but if you turn off the overwrite option in the config it works. It does not connect disconnect randomly like Entune did. I have yet to reset my phone every time. This is a notable improvement Toyota.

I’ve had my Highlander now since June 2020. I’m surprised at some of the complaints about this app. It takes a while to figure a few things out (I’m still learning) but it functions as designed. One thing I figured out is that it will NOT start remotely unless the vehicle is locked and secure. I tried it both ways several times and it would never start when unlocked but always start when locked. It will only run for ten minutes and shows a countdown time. Another thing to remember is that when you touch the door handle, the engine shuts off. Anyway, your dealer will do a good job explaining the system if you ask. I’d like to see a few more features such as the ability to open the garage door, but overall it’s great.

Definitely still some work to be done on the app. I love being able to remote start my Highlander Hybrid from a half mile away, inside a convention center, hotel, whatever. But, once started, the timer counts down, and it continues to say the vehicle is running if the timer runs out, or you go out and open the door, etc., and the engine shuts off. Really big disconnect! Also, not happy that the engine shuts off when the door opens. It doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold outside, it should continue to run. Make the safety feature trying to put it in gear without the fob present, not opening the door. That’s a very poor choice, since you can’t remote start without the doors being locked. Also, when remote starting in cold weather, I love that it retains the seat heater settings, but I can’t see any way to turn on the front or rear/side defrost systems, and those settings are NOT retained, when the vehicle is shut off. It’s a very odd and unfortunate series of features, and it was particularly obvious who disjointed this system is, today, when my car was covered in ice and snow, warmed up 10 minutes, then shut off just before I got outside. My phone said it was still running, the front windshield was not defrosted, but my seat was warm when I got in. The dev team needs to work on this some more with engineering and turn this into a much more logical set of options.

I don't see my previous review so I'm doing it again. I cannot open the Toyota app on my phone. When I try it says "Vehicle connected via Bluetooth" I can't even cancel and reconnect the Bluetooth. I cannot access remote connect, update my GPS or access any information in the app. I updated the the app a few days ago and it did no good! So very frustrated and disappointed Toyota!

  • Frustrating app, doesn’t work consistently Feb 22, 2020

    By 2020RAV_hybrid_owner
Like so many other reviewers on this app, we just purchased a 2020 RAV4 limited hybrid and the ability to remote connect to our vehicle was a big draw for us. You see, we live in a northern state where the temps drop below zero in the winter so we decided if we are buying a brand new vehicle for the first time, we wanted to finally be able to remote-start our engine to warm the car up and defrost our windows in the morning. However, this app only worked “consistently” for the first full week of owning our vehicle and has since only worked intermittently (about 50% of the time). This is extremely frustrating because there is no convenient way to resolve the matter (hence why I’m now leaving a review). I’ve left “feedback” via the app, which is supposed to be how you report problems concerning your connectivity with the app, but I have never received a reply back or instruction on how to fix it. When you call in, you wait on hold for long periods of time and when you go to the dealership they are unsure of how to help you. Toyota really needs to find a fix to this “buggy” app as so many reviewers have aptly described it. They should also reset the one-year free trial membership once the matter has been fully resolved since we have not been able to rely on it’s usability day-to-day.

I am so frustrated and disappointed. The issue with being able to bring up your map/GPS has gone on far too long. I've done everything I could: download the Entune app, switched to this app when the Entune app was discontinued, reinstalled the app several times...nothing works. Every time I press the "map" button in my car, I get two quick beeps, and then nothing. This has gone on for a while and used to happen occasionally, but now happens everytime.
  • Extremely Disappointed Mar 14, 2020

Recently bought a 2020 Rav-4 XSE Hybrid and choose this model in part for the Remote Start feature. Living in the north, having this is extremely helpful for cold morning where there is frost, snow, etc. I originally downloaded the Toyota Remote App since it has higher ratings, but after entering my VIN I received a message that “this app is no longer supported. Please download the Toyota App”. After following these directions and downloading the Toyota App and setting up my account, I then followed the instructions for Remote Services several times. Each time receiving a response that it can take up to 24-hours for connection AND each time receiving a message the the connection failed. I am extremely disappointed in Toyota with this product. I have a friend who has a Chevy and has Remote Start button on the key fob in addition to the app. Seems like sending new key-fobs with this button may be the best option with so many negative reviews stating the same issue. I’d either like a permanent fix to this in the app and/or a replacement key-fob with the option to remote start from the fob Toyota. If like some answered Toyota after spending my hard earned money of a failed product that you keep marketing as a feature. If it doesn’t work, it’s not a feature!

Omg this app suuuuuuuuucks. It never works. Always has server issues. Can't start my RAV 4 PRIME remotely. Also, a serious flaw is to give the SE remote lock/unlock and not give it to the XSE trim. The app has been broken for two weeks now. I'll never in the 2 months I have had my car, I have been able to start my car maybe 10 times. It doesn't work otherwise. And I try every day.

Purchased a 2020 Camry XLE mid May. Worked until, apparently, June 5th and now matter what I do, I can’t get the remote start, lock unlock to work. Status shows a red circle with exclamation mark (!) in it. When you open it it shows the passenger side rear door is unlocked. I just came out and locked the doors manually. It is locked. Tried to Contact the vehicle and just get a big X and it was not connect. It does however track my driving as mentioned in another review. That works but I can’t connect to lock or unlock my doors or remote start. This is one of the worst apps ever. Worked for a while 2 weeks. Can’t find any information anywhere on how to fix this problem. I’ve even tried to re sync it to the car and it says it is synced. Come on Toyota - what’s the point of having remote start if it doesn’t work. Give me fob! How about, in your canned Developer Response, you put out a help site where someone can figure out how to get this working. Shame on you Toyota. This is my 4th Camry since 1992 and I’ve never been disappointed in one before this app that won’t let me remote start my car. I paid a lot of money for this car and I and all of the other unhappy people deserve more!

This needs a lot more support, when I bought the car I liked the fact that I could check my mileage and tire pressure, since the car doesn't have function. However, once the subscription runs out, your unable to see the pressure or mileage. This is bad because I like knowing if my tires are running in optimal pressure. That's a big fault on these cars. I don't need an app that only takes space on my phone for no functionality...
  • Toyota Connected Services Pay To Play Jul 22, 2021

    By Tunafishbrain
I paid $30k for a car and an ADDITIONAL CONNECTED SERVICES FEE who’s remote app works about 30% of the time. Sure it’s cool to be able to see real time info for your vehicle, and I do love my 2019 RAV4, but YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR CONNECTED SERVICES. This means on top of the vehicle cost, you’ll pay for access through the app every year. The catch is that the app updates at least a few times a year with no describable benefit. Improvements are expected and fantastic and I would welcome them as such. Alas, the newest so called improvements log me out of the app every time. More than that, I frequently LOOSE FUNCTIONS for a service I am paying for, and the app simply fails and asks me to try again later. It seems like a company as grand as Toyota would be stellar at this upgrade. NOPE!!! Just spent 30 minutes trying to log in to my account while the, “New and Improved,” version of the app just couldn’t recognize my credentials; The ones that are stored on my phone. The same ones I’ve used for two years. My keys are 1.5 miles away. The app worked this morning, but NOT ANY MORE!!!! What a scam, Toyota. Do better!!!!! I’ve certainly paid you enough to have reasonable functionality. DO NOT PAY FOR CONNECTED SERVICES. IT’S A SCAM!!!!!

I was bummed when I paid almost $30,000 for my RAV4 hybrid LE only to find out that the TPMS does not actually give you a tire pressure. So when some blogs stated that the Toyota app does it I was excited. Unfortunately, the app DOES NOT show the tire pressure it always only say NA. I went to my Toyota dealer and even they could not figure it out. They sent me to servicing and they didn’t know either which is quite sad. Finally the associate had to google the information to see what he could find and saw a blog stating that this is an issue with the app and that Toyota is suppose to be updating the app as some customers depending on their phone model and vehicle year can see it while others in newer models and with newer phones cannot. UPDATE your app to see tire pressure please!!! I shouldn’t have to wait until the TPMS light is on to know what my tire pressure is. Not sure who sat in an office and thought this upgrade was a good idea but it is stupid. This is a basic feature most cars should already have on them why I even have to use an app to do this and one that doesn’t even work is beyond my comprehension.

Every time I press the "map" button in my car, I get two quick beeps, and then nothing. This has gone on for a while and used to happen occasionally, but now happens everytime.

  • Functional, but not practical Mar 9, 2021

The app has only three functions: operate the door locks, operate the hazard lights, and remotely start the vehicle. You can never be sure that any of these functions have been carried out, because the app does not always automatically update the vehicle status. If you try to lock the doors, it will often go off in a processing fugue, necessitating a reset by closing out the app and reopening. Then it it will say that the doors are still unlocked. Press the lock doors button again, and thirty seconds later you’ll get a notification that the procedure failed because the doors were already locked. Try to start the vehicle and you’ll get a notice that the vehicle failed to start because the doors aren’t locked. So you have to go through the tenuous door Locking procedure just to start the car. It’s often quicker and less irritating to just walk out and start the vehicle manually. Why not just make locking the doors part of the remote-start procedure? How about adding some other functions to the app, like turning on the defrosters and seat warmers?

The last update broke it. It starts on my phone, but the car doesn't recognize it anymore. Nothing else has changed between my phone in the car. The phone thinks it's connected to the car, and the phone system through Bluetooth works. Strangely, some of my front panel quick dial numbers disappeared. What's going on?
  • Unhappy with the remote start Sep 8, 2020

Since I purchased my 2020 Camry XSE in December of 2019 I have problems with the app. When it works I love it, but often it doesn’t work. I notice when it doesn’t work the gas mileage to empty stays the same no matter how much gas I have. That’s happened a quite of few times. Also I notice that when you push the button start it when it keeps going in a circle to connect if haven’t connected in one to two minutes it’s not going to work and the last one would be if I don’t receive a notification about if the car being unlock or locked then I know it’s not working. I had to take it to my local dealership 3 times for a update and it still does the same thing. Once again love it when it works properly and it’s a great feature to have. P.S. The new 2021 or 2022 Camrys should have features as memory seats and passengers climate controls & passengers USB ports or rear plug in chargers port for the passengers. Please fix the app for it to be better for customers. Thank you

Not very impressed with this app. It's okay but really not great. It kinda works sometimes. I've never gotten the remote start to actually work. Refresh of car status is slow. I'm guessing 70% of this app is so the dealer can track when to advertise services to you. My favorite part of this app is the ability to get the owner manuals and access them on my phone.
  • Very unrefined Jul 8, 2021

We bought a new Venza in May 2021. We are surprised at how flaky and clumsy the official Toyota app is. It is marginally more useful than it is frustrating. First, the setup process was very buggy and circular. It took my wife multiple attempts to create her account and add the car using the VIN. Then, remote start feature works less than half the time. Once you finally get the car started through the app, the car turns off when you open the door, which requires you to start the car again. What’s the point in that? Next, my wife added me as a secondary authorized driver in the app, so I could use the app on my phone. Reasonable use case for a family, right? We discovered this granted me access to the car as expected…but also removed access on her phone. So, only 1 phone can control the car. On top of all this, the app features are extremely limited and basic: lock, unlock, remote start/stop, fuel level, odometer and range. Why can’t I set the HVAC temperature or check tire pressures? Why can’t I move the windows up or down? How about activating the hazards or honking the horn? The Apple Watch app is equally as unrefined. When you perform an action it often tells you to check the iPhone for car status updates. Why not just tell me directly? In the end, I am pretty disappointed with this app. If my free trial ended today, I would absolutely not continue to subscribe.

  • If I could give this app 0 I would Jul 31, 2020

Awful. Can't even get past the registration screen. Tried to enter my info for registration. Won't let me use email as it states that my email is already in use and that I should try signing in instead. Went to sign in with that email and now it says that they "Couldn't find an account with that email or phone number" What on earth kind of useless waste of data is this?? Delete the useless app if you're not going to make it work!

Stopped functioning navigation apps again. This is annoying! If you have same issue with me that this app does not connect to the vehicle, try 1) Uninstall the app. 2) Reinstall it. This worked for me. I still not trusting reliability of this app, and believe this app is a negative factor to buy another Toyota. This is still unreliable app. 10% satisfaction, and 90% frustration/ skeptical feeling. Thanks for Toyota to leave me the contact number. I will when the app stop functioning again.

Extremely frustrated with this app and surprised that a company like Toyota uses this. Constantly stops working and disabling my GPS. Installed and re-installed this App multiple times to no avail. When you try and register your vehicle and enter the VIN number the exact make, model and color comes up; then when you try and register it tells you that it's not in the data base! Come on Toyota, I really need this to work properly!
