I never write reviews but honestly, I’m surprised it took someone so long to come up with this idea. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and I’ve seen firsthand how much gets thrown out nightly, especially baked goods. I’ve ordered from several bakeries and, with a couple exceptions, generally distribute all the contents of my bag to my local homeless. For $6, I get to help restaurants make a little extra money, minimize food waste, and feed several homeless people. And the food I have kept for myself has been consistently delicious. A perfect app at the perfect time. And so great to see new businesses being added all the time. Everyone should use this app!

I paid and used the app for the first time yesterday and it was an excellent experience. I bought a random bag of groceries for $4.99 from a local supermarket, in which I found oat milk, 3 yogurt (one Noosa included), salad kit and a Buffalo vegan thing that can pair with the salad, chocolate chip chia bars and almond salt dark chocolate in there. granted they all have expiration dates that are near, this is still some great value! app is easy to use, the supermarket pick up was extremely easy.

  • GREAT CONCEPT, NEED EXPANSION Jan 29, 2021

    By AtoshiEggs
I LOVE the concept of this app, and I fully support the cause as well. As a person who has worked good service many times, I see a lot of food that could be used for people in need, but that gets thrown out. I would love this app to expand it’s supported/partners restaurants! I live in Washington State, and it doesn’t seem like there’s any supported restaurants here. Would love to see this grow more onto the west coast! I’d reccomend einstien Bros bagels as a place to partner with, as they always have good food that’s wasted from left over throughout the day.

My first time using Toogoodtogo and it was amazing! Very simple clear instructions and the veg and fruit box was superb from Fruit box company. I am going to order every week to make smoothies and soups. So many varieties such as mushrooms, sprouts, mango, bananas, cherry tomatoes on the vine, garlic, peppers, lemon and limes. Wonderful quality, very pleased with my purchase.

  • Great app but one major flaw Feb 14, 2021

    By Electroman555
This app is a really amazing idea however, not only is there no written review section so we can at least get an IDEA of what we could potentially good (I know it’s a surprise bag, but would be nice to have a ballpark idea from others) but they manipulate the ratings.. for instance, every resultant is like 90% liked this place. Meanwhile, for the bad ones it says “90% gave 3 stars or more” and for the good ones “90% gave 4 stars or more” like seriously in what world is three stars/five a positive review?! I do not like how non transparent this is. Please fix this or atleast be more honest about the ratings or provide a breakdown of how many stars and reviews each place has gotten.

  • Wouldnt close our store Jan 2, 2021

Hi! We have had some very large issues; First; any day we didnt have leftover food, they would still allow people to order from us and we would have to turn them away, even though we would mark on the app that we had no items. Second; we closed since my boss retired. We talked on the phone and email multiple times telling them we were closing and to take down our store and they said they would, but we still got orders days later when we were closed. Third; we had many orders that we filled in December yet they are pretending we havent gotten any December orders. Where is my boss’s money? She needs that, shes elderly and her husband is sick. Last; trying to contact them is almost impossible at least on the business end; they have a live chat and phone number, which rarely have people on them to respond (not even a voicemail). Or you can fill out a form for them to email you back. Its a good idea but id much rather see the food going to homeless or lower class families that need it too.

Amazing concept! However in the last few weeks, it does not properly show the restaurants in the surrounding. Even if I select a spot directly next to one of the restaurants, it still shows me that there are no restaurants in the chosen distance. Also I would love to get notifications, when starred restaurants have something left. Some restaurants are always sold out quickly and I mostly don't check the app 24/7. 13. February 2021 - still not working

I just rate as two stars because this app is not give more options for payment method like TWINT for example, it's use limited payment method and I don't have one of them. I like this app because it's fighting against wasting food, but please can you add additional payment method like TWINT please so it make more easy for us to use this app. Thank you for your understanding. • First try - restaurant closed. Jan 22, 2021

    By dand1001
First time using this app - got to the restaurant right on time and it was closed. Nice idea but really not worth the hassle since it sounds from other reviews like this team is not able to keep track of which restaurants are actually open and which ones aren’t. Update - comment below said to contact them through the app and they would address the issue ‘right away.’ I did exactly this while standing in front of the store. It took them four days (from Saturday night to Wednesday) to reply to me and provide a refund. Guess we have different definitions of ‘right away’.

No e-mail notification when collection time is brought forward. App can say 5 left (for collection today and showing a bright picture), and when you click there never was an offer that day, or vice versa. My "favourites" list repeats itself, but only the second is correct ("check back later", but when you click on it the last Magic Box just sold out a minute ago) White text on light grey or yellow background makes things difficult to read without reading glasses.

  • Pleasantly surprised, discovered new place Dec 21, 2020

    By MargaretinMarbella
Finally used the app and we were pleasantly surprised by the ease of use and thrilled with the inclusion of smaller businesses like Bootes. This was our first purchase and in the process we discovered a new favorite cafe in Marbella’s Old Town, Casco Antiguo. We were early since we wanted to check out the cafe and enjoyed drinks and shared a quesadilla while waiting for Blanca to prepare a fresh fruit shake and fabulous tuna bowl as our “Too good to go” pack.

Overall, very good app, easy to use, good layout. Get a large quantity of food for little cost and save it from being wasted! Would be nice if we could see past reviews including a description and pictures of what they got so people know what kind of thing to expect. For instance I walked to a shop with my bag to collect an order and ended up having to get a lift cause I waw handed a massive box of food! The ability to see full reviews would help people know what to expect. Still, lovely app.

  • Helps if you’re a carb fiend Nov 30, 2020

    By Albert Lawson
Not bad, great idea. Some of the deals wind up being kind of whatever (got a falafel with a drink for the price of a falafel, in one case... not much of a surprise) but some are good. But note that a majority of places are bakeries or cafe/pastry shops... so most of what you’ll find is breads and pastries. Which makes sense, because that’s what can’t be sold the next day. If you’re doing the low-carb thing, you might not find much to choose from most nights.

its a really good app for getting meals at bargain prices. only downside is trying to get one, they sell out mega fast and are not available at the same time every day so you can miss out on a bag by the time it takes you to refresh the page! however its worth the wait.

Easy to reserve order and pay once order was made. Collection was simple. There was a good variety of food in the bag and overall, good value as well. The main thing was, it isn't going to waste. Definitely recommend this app!!
  • Useful neighborhood app Nov 12, 2020

Great idea! This has been a fun way to try new places and reduce waste. I appreciate the separation of Meals vs Baked Goods vs Groceries for Surprise Bags. Suggestions for restaurant feedback - let us pick more than one reason that we liked the restaurant. Strangely for every restaurant I’ve browsed, the feedback seems to be “great service”. Not helpful when that’s the Only feedback I’ve ever seen listed for any restaurant.

Nice concept but the app often have problems: 1)while you're paying, the box was sold in the meantime, it's a matter of seconds, but the app doesn't notice you and keeps you waiting for the ending of the payment; 2) when I try to reserve a box, the built-in browser freezes and I can't proceed; 3) so little supermarkets joined this app so is very difficult to get a box in time also because of the other problems I told earlier.

  • “Order Completed” Should Be Endorsed by Customer Feb 15, 2021

    By PeeRolly
TGTG staff aren’t on ground to confirm if order has been picked up or not. In your subsequent update of the app, it would be important to make that concession for the customer, and/ or the store, to make this confirmation, and declare if the order was picked up/ completed, or not. TGTG app should not automatically update that; it takes away the right of the customer to make a decision during a business transaction.

The app mostly works well. The purchases are usually of good quality and quantity. The problem is if purchases are not good quality. You need to understand that low grade food, well past its best before date is considered acceptable as part of the purchase.

  • Watch out they cancel orders Dec 16, 2020

    By Sad n Cold
I was super excited to try this app but when I ordered they decided to cancel on me last minute because they ran out of food. I walked for 30 min in the blistering cold to the location only to find my order was cancelled on the app which I didn’t even know was possible. There was some weird delay in updating my order status and it only cancelled once I got to the location. Instead of writing this in tiny font in the bottom of the page somewhere a bigger warning would’ve saved 1 hour of my life...

Here's the deal: you literally buy leftovers for 90% of the price you'd normally pay. And we're talking about leftovers that you cannot choose yourself; they choose it for you. You just get to select which store you want to buy from. You have to be real quick with browsing and paying too, because otherwise you'll "miss out" every time. So unless you are a hardcore environmentalist type of person, I don't think this is going to appeal to you.

Don’t force people to download the app before they find out what the deal is, be up front about it from the beginning! They are “surprise” bags of food for a discount. I highly doubt these are cutting down on any food waste. How do they know that restaurants aren’t just buying the cheapest ingredients possible to throw in there and make more money, pretending like it’s this discounted deal? Seems like yet another brand getting heaps of attention for their “feel good” concept when no one stops to think about the reality of what’s actually happening.

I love the idea of this app and what it’s doing, but the app itself is not made well. When I first downloaded it everything was fine and I just wanted to see what it was all about. But that only lasted about 5 minutes before it crashed. Now it won’t even stay open long enough to load before crashing again. I’ve even tried removing and redownloading it. Once I get signed in it crashes again...looking forward to this being fixed and their area being expanded, but for now I’m disappointed, such a great idea...

App does not work properly. It shows that a store has sold out today at a time stamp that is after the time it currently is. Can't find anywhere in the app to contact and report the problem. Looking through the lower rated comments it seems that the app owners don't really give a damn as they haven't replied to any of issues stated
