  • Better than the rest Jun 22, 2018

I have been looking for the perfect task app that crosses platforms for several years. I have tried 3-4 different apps that I thought would be "the one". I can finally say this app fits the bill better than any other. It is quick and intuitive and has so many different customization options (geographic based notifications, create task from Siri, recurring tasks from completion date, etc). I tried the free version for a few weeks and finally contributed for the full version - I am very happy. If there is any criticism, the cloud based version when used on your PC is very quirky and not reliable. I have found myself using the app version on my phone instead even when sitting at my computer. Hopefully the web based version will be cleaned up, that is the only thing keeping me from giving five stars. If you never planning on using this web based version from a PC or MAC, this is not an issue.

I’ve been using a version of this app from this company for about 10 years now. As my “free” year expired, I had to decide if I still wanted it. Especially reading everyone else’s reviews and being on a tight budget, I wondered, “Is it worth the price?” I explored other apps and noted that their premium prices were about the same amount. In comparing features, they didn’t have what I want. I love this app. I love its organization and features. I love how I can make it as simple or complex a system as needed for me to help me balance my need as a single mom to get a lot done (listing out the zillions of things “to do” in an organized manner so it’s easier to prioritize) with my needs as someone who struggles with anxiety and depression (turning off and on notifications and readjusting my focus list/due dates to give me the freedom to reduce the pressure.) How you use it is up to you but I’m very grateful for the improvements and updates I’ve seen throughout the years. Apps like this simplify my life and save me money in the long run. I’m happy to pay so they can continue to provide their service and have the ability to make more improvements.

Android version doesn't reliably update tasks. Works fine on web browser and IOS. Bugs reported three months ago are still a problem. Yes, I have the latest version. I won't be renewing my subscription.

Has been great for a while now, but recently it's been "losing" changes and edits which I make to entries in my checklist. Updated text is not saved when I back out. Update on 10/25/20: still don't see a new version on Play Store even though vendor says they're working on the problem. Seriously going to migrate and delete soon if problems persist. Very annoying!

Update. More bugs then ever. Potential is there but for android or windows needs alot of work. New issues with every update and old ones remain. The app has great functions and abilities for my business needs. My only complaint is on my note 9 things are not uploading instantly or not updating and closing tasks when I know that's not the case. Seems like connection issues but I'm always on LTE.

  • The new version is incredibly slow on the PC Dec 3, 2017

    By Heat fans
I have been using this software for years and it was great until the latest version. It works fine on the phone but in a browser on the PC it is almost unusably slow. The previous version ran fine on the same PC. I am giving 3 stars hoping it can be fixed; if not it would be 2 stars at best. Update: I emailed tech support who responded that they were aware of this issue and suggested I use the legacy version for now. Definitely the legacy version works much better but I don’t understand how they could have released a new version that is basically unusable. Literally I have to wait a few seconds after typing each character for it to appear on the screen. Update 2: This just keeps getting worse and worse. Now both the legacy version and the new web based version have stopped working. Am downgrading to one star until the web version is working.

  • Thanks from a procrastinator Dec 13, 2019

    By Fungamestoluv
When you’re overwhelmed with all that you have going on, its very easy to fall into procrastination. Out of sight, out of mind—put it off until tomorrow—work on all the little things to avoid the big things. I wasn’t expecting Todo to help me with procrastination, but it has! I keep it open on my desktop so I can add and check things off as I go. I find myself consulting it when I’m not sure what I want to tackle next. Being able to toggle between “Everything” and “Focus” has been a game changer. Having all the lists from all the aspects of my life all in one place in a way that doesn’t overwhelm me has soothed the savage procrastination beast. Its still there mind you—it took me a little longer than I thought it would to write this post—but I completed the task instead of pushing it from one paper list to another or forgetting to do it altogether. Because Todo is so accessible, it made the habit of using it exclusively for list making very easy—I believe this is why its had such a positive effect on me. Thanks Todo!

I’ve been using this app for years— and it’s been excellent, meeting all my scheduling needs and updating seamlessly across my devices. The current version, however, has been frustrating in that it’s now needlessly complicated to specify a date and time, especially when an event isn’t “all day.” Often, I think I’ve set a date/time only to find that I haven’t— too many steps to save things. Also, what need is there for an “all day” setting anyway? Before, I could set a date and time easily not have to double check. Developers shouldn’t alter what works perfectly. Another bug: I’ve been unable to delete items in a checklist. My deleted items keep reappearing.

I Like this app's design and that it helps you be on track and being more productive, but it spends a lot of time on updating tasks page. I like that it has a focus option to put the more important there. In my opinion, this app is great and could be better if a type of reward system is added ( virtual trophy etc ) or motivational phrases while it's loading or in a side to motivate people more and make them want to use the app more. The point is that it stands out in something. Also, the bugs.

  • From an old user, a deep request. Mar 5, 2020

Hello! I have used and loved this app in its previous unsupported version. A small detail perhaps, but one of the biggest differences between it and the new version is the ability to have a custom background on your lists. I love the organizational features, and that my lists carried over, however, I don’t use this app over other “sleeker” ones because I can no longer control the background, and thus overall “feel” and more importantly brightness of this app. I find that small detail to be incredibly meaningful in my experience of this app. Please bring it back if you can! It was something I didn’t find anywhere else.

  • Love the product ... but missing one thing!! Mar 6, 2020

    By JP Shinn
I have used ToDo in its various versions for years. I stick with GTD methods relatively purely, and this product works extremely well for that. There is one thing they took away several years ago that I REALLY miss and it continues to affect my productivity ... you can no longer enter a task it’s a start date but no due date. There are so many instances I want to be able to use this, and I would assume others do as well. It seems like it would be fairly simple feature to allow. I end up creating work arounds, but then I have a bunch of tasks with false due dates. I’m a big believer in Start date use ... I don’t want to veg SEE a task until a designated date, but often there’s no hard due date for such things. I’ve fought the work arounds for some time, and I’ve looked for other products off and on, because this feature is so important to my workflow. For now, I’ve stuck with ToDo because other than that, I really like he product, especially with the bugs fixed in the latest version.

IOS version is just a notch below superb. Android version is underwhelming. Bugs on the Android are given a low priority and get short shrift. Developers are relatively easy to reach. The app itself is the best "to do" I have ever used. Fix the bugs on Android that have existed for years and id give 5 stars.

  • Long Time User But Still Not Loving New Version Sep 13, 2019

    By gadgetgirl205
While the website works great, I mostly use the iOS version which is still very buggy. I have emailed them several times regarding the multiple reminders not working, they all go off at the due time which has made me late for many an appointment. I now have to set the due time as early to keep that from happening. It also still takes more steps to enter a task than in past versions. Not sure what their logic was and why they felt that needed to be changed. Regardless, I still haven’t found anything that fits my needs as well. I’m at the point where I just need simple todo tasks, checklists and projects with scheduling and reminders (that work). I’ll continue to use but am still researching for something not quite as buggy. I am hoping that won’t be necessary as I have used ToDo for at least 10 years! It feels like they tried to improve too much too fast and lost track of what most of their long time users needs were. Too bad.

  • Great app..needs minor improvement Jan 2, 2018

    By Starsigma
Great app thus far. Would like them to add a nagging feature encase the task is still incomplete. Like that fact you can get location based reminders. Seems very simple to use. Don't like the fact you have to enter in your password to unlock the phone each time you get a reminder when your iPhone is locked. Other apps just allow you to mark as complete. Also I have recently noticed that when you mark a task as complete on your home screen without opening the phone. And later on go to your app those same tasks are still listed as incomplete and you have to go back in and individually close them. Which sometimes means you have serval days worth of tasks you have to go through which are marked as overdue when you already in fact marked complete. This is a little bit of a nuisance to have to do on a regular basis.

  • Would be perfect if not for frequent bugs. Losing patience. Aug 21, 2020

    By StylishNoun
I’ve been a paying user of ToDo for years, and although I always keep an eye out for other options, I’ve never found an app that offers me all the task functions I want. That said, the last two years have seen more and more bugs, and less and less support. I’ve submitted a number of tickets, and although I occasionally get a response, I’ve never actually gotten a resolution, and I’ve resorted to eventually figuring out a fix myself or just giving up and hoping it gets fixed in a future update. If I can’t trust that the tasks and dates I’m seeing are complete or accurate, I can’t justify paying for or using this app anymore. Any more bugs or a lack of response to those introduced by the most recent update, and I’ll sadly be looking for another solution.
