I don’t often review games, but when I saw this game in an ad in another one of my games I HAD to try it out. As an 80’s baby that grew up on TMNT the nostalgia was at 100! I love the art style and the animations and the overall polish of the game. It’s visually appealing to me and I like playing around with different team compositions. Here comes my first suggestion. I would love to see bonus synergies with certain hero combinations. i.e. I would love to see if Casey Jones and April were both on a team they get some bonuses, Tokka and Rahzar, the 4 turtles, Bebop and Rocksteady etc etc. Next, I fully understand this is supposed to be an idle game at its core. However, I enjoy it so much I wish there were additional game modes to enjoy. Once I hit that PVE wall and finish all my pvp battles I find myself checking the game periodically to see if there is something I can do and am sad when I realize I just need to wait for more resources to progress. Maybe something like a gauntlet mode or a way test various team compositions to see what you want to use. Etc. I didn’t play the beta so idk where this game started but I enjoy it and see a lot of potential. I hope to see a lot more coming to the game in the future.

After playing this game on my tablet I also wanted to put it on my phone. Its making me start over. Most other games load up my profile and let me start from where I left off. It logs me into Google play but still makes me start from the beginning. Should be an option to load your account instead of starting you over

Lemme start by saying I absolutely love the fact that someone made a TMNT game & didn’t use the “new age” design for them & instead used the OG classic design that all of us that were born in mid to late 80’s grew up watching & playing with the toys! Now being older I’m still a TMNT fan & collector so this game was a must download for me when I found it today! I didn’t even know it existed until it randomly popped up on my App Store but I’m glad it did! I think there’s a TON OF AWESOME POTENTIAL HERE! I’m not a big fan of “IDLE” games & I think if it were more like a team v team scenario where u actually got to control your team & not just hit an icon for a special when it happens it would take this game to bigger heights! Hopefully that will be added. Regardless I hope this game doesn’t wind up like “TMNT HEROES” where the developers just forget it & never update it anymore. Especially since I poured entirely too much cash into TMNT Heroes & now it’s boring bc there’s no new content or characters. Hopefully Kongregate does better & if it’s anything like Animation Throwdown then it’ll definitely be a ton of fun!

The game is fun to kill time. I grew up watching the original TMNT cartoons in the early 90s and this game brings back fond memories. I really enjoy the look of the models here. Not accurate by any means. More on the cute side. Unlocking new characters, as rare as it is, feels rewarding. The gameplay is pretty much nonexistent, however. You have no control over the 5 characters in your squad except activating their specials when available. Upgrading the Turtles Lair over time is fun though.

I love this game sooo much. The memories it brings back are awesome. There are minor bugs that can be fixed. So on September 28( the day in writing this rewiew), I logged on the app to see all my progress was gone, and I hade to start the whole game over. To be honest this was the first time I was actually sad about a mobile game because of all the time, and ooze I put into this game. Please developers if you are reading this, is there any way to get my progress back?

For. The. Love. Of. All. That. Is. Sacred. PLEASE make the tutorial skip able!!!! If you setup a Kongregate account and it loses sync, you have to play a 5 minute tutorial before you’re allowed to enter your kongregate info and restore your progress. The worst part is that it happens with an IOS crash of the app, happens 2-4 times daily so it’s VERY annoying. 1-Star currently simple because it’s literally wasted more than an hour of my life restoring progress and looks to cost more. The game is a simple battle time waster that’s very cute and I enjoy to play in the background of other work. Like the original turtles and toy throwback. Gameplay is limited compared to other timewasters, but lacks more of the other gameplay modes, for now it’s upgrades, level ups and battle stages with story with a pvp version available. Story mode is not really story mode, it’s a random comic page at the end of every 15-30 battles. Enjoyable if you’re a TMNT fan. Looking forward to new modes and releases (plan to rereview then). If you plan to get past major chapters 6 or beyond be prepared to spend months doing daily checks or spending money to get more powerful versions of available characters.

Fun at first. Unfortunately you get stuck once you max out some 3 star characters. There is really no way to get 4 stars without spending .... alot or waiting a long time. This wouldn't be too bad if you could still progress but the quests make you get to lvl 160 to progress and all 3 stars are hard capped at lvl 150. Even waiting for shards is inefficient because the conversion rate is 1 purple shard for 1600 green or 1 for every 40 blues and thats considering you get repeat character draws.

  • Not a great game! Sep 28, 2020

Again like most people say this game has potential but what it lacks is game modes and more activities to keep busy. It’s like after you get some toons and build them after awhile you are at a road block for days before you can do anything and the further you go the longer you’ll have to wait for materials or to progress further in the game. You can’t go back through the levels and grind for ooze. It’s Mostly all about money!!! This is not a free to play game after awhile. If you want to play daily you’ll have to spend an ungodly amount of money! Toon pulls are lame as you only get 2 star pulls which take awhile to build enough up to get 1 pull and it takes forever to get a 3 or 4 star pull as you don’t get those materials needed enough to pull them. I don’t see this game going very far as many people stopped playing this game because of the long long long wait to progress. NOTE TO DEVELOPERS: You have got to make a change in this game to benefit the players not the developers. I rate your game a 3/10 with potential, if you change the gameplay and modes this game could be something special.

Changing my review now that its been out a couple weeks. Aestitically it is very good but it gets very boring very quickly. Once you hit a wall it can take weeks to level up characters enough to pass it and thats just unacceptable. Also there is literally nothing to do once you hit the wall, signing in everyday just to collect resources and then log off is not a game. if there were atleast other game modes it would be less boring. Come on guys you have a great license, don't squander it!

It's nostalgic, great character design, and story. However, the pay wall is almost impossible to climb, even by paying. Luckily for me, I grew up with the original TMNT cartoon and therefore am older with a good job and expendable income. I decided to spend a little money, support the developer and continue to play a game I enjoy. Unfortunately after around $60 spent I barely got a handhold on climbing that paywall. Until the upgrade system is completely overhauled this will just be a cash grab.

Ummm cool game BUT like all the other reviews you get to a point where there is nothing to do but either wait a long time to level up the dudes you are using or pay to win. And you can't go back and replay levels for some reason! So if you decide to play pick 5 ppl and only level them up if you like to change your party up and mix things up this game is not for you! Shame cause this could be a really awesome game! And don't buy the battle pass because it doesn't help you progress at all!!!

I don’t usually write reviews. I made an exception in this case because the Ninja Turtles were always my favorites. To everyone complaining about hitting a wall. What did you expect it’s an idle game not an RPG. If you are dumping money into the game expecting to max everything out right away and beat it why bother playing? I play daily and have no issues. I collect my idle stuff, do a couple levels, level up my team a bit, then go on with my day. I’ve spent 0 dollars on this game and likely won’t unless it’s to get a super rare character. To the developers: I love the game keep working on it. Keep updating. My only issue (hence 4 stars instead of 5) is that the game does a reset and I have to go through the tutorial again and login/relaunch my game a few times in order for it to get my progress back. It’s annoying, but not game breaking. Give this game some time and it will be even more amazing.

I have been enjoying the game strongly. They caught me with my childhood nostalgia really good, but kept with a trickle of free to play rewards that you earn from playing Though the game has micro's they can be avoided if you take a break from the game and let the idle mechanics do it's job. I have only seen difficulty spikes where you need to rethink your team's design or let your team level up a bit more. I wish you can pay for the ads away ansmore content. Keep up the good work!

I really wanted to like this gsme, it looks good and playes smooth. The play wall is abrupt and with limited play options there is very little to do to improve charectors. The prizes for events are not enticing enough to spend for and the season prizes which are around 3 months long are pathetic. The game need a lot of work.

  • The nostalgia factor is great, but... Sep 26, 2020

    By Steve-Othemick
Like many “idle” games, you quickly cap out anything and everything there is to do in a matter of minutes. At a certain point each day (or worse, each week at some point knowing these games) you will hit a wall where there’s nothing to do but wait until you’ve collected enough XP (ooze, in this case) to level up heroes enough to continue for another 5 minutes worth of battles until you hit the next wall. The character designs are great, the classic TMNT feel is excellent, and the graphics are polished well enough. The abilities are cool, and fit the characters personalities, giving the animations a nice flair. The upgrade system and items are not explained well, and they’re kinda meh. The ability to go backwards and replay older battles as a way to grind out some basic resources would easily add another star, and the option to customize or level up items would add depth and possibly a fifth star. As it stands this is a three star game on nostalgia alone.

  • Great potential- some game killer bugs Sep 24, 2020

    By Starcrusher76
Really fun game. Decent graphics, decent music. I experienced, however, some game killing bugs. 1st bug- around level 70ish I stopped receiving materials from various sources. The green cubes not only stopped being rewarded from quests, but the lair stopped generating them. This resource is used to advance and unlock new characters. 2nd bug- I tried doing the partnered tasks to earn green cubes, despite being completed they all were stuck in unfinished. 3rd bug- I deleted the app and reinstalled it and it won’t collect quests to advance (won’t collect new characters). Deleted the app again. No real place ingame to contact the developers and report these bugs so hopefully they can fix these issues as the game has a lot of potential! At this point however to invest any cash into the game is a big risk.

It's a good start. I'm not a big fan of idle games and it will be better when they add more characters and more things to do. Not bad so far. But there isn't too much to the game yet and combat is just hit start and sit back and watch. You can only manually activate each characters "special" move or just leave that on auto. Doesn't make much of a difference. I love the look of the game i just wish there was more to it. Might adjust this when some updates have come out.

It's fun in the beginning when you can actually progress, but I'm probably going to delete soon because once you get to a certain point in the game it's a stupid amount of wait time. Even if you choose to buy something, everything is too expensive in game currency to actually make a difference. The monetization scale needs to be looked at and scaled more in favor of players. Nobody wants to pay 45 dollars to be able to open one crate and maybe advance 5-10 levels.

This is a pay to win experience. While I love the retro fun from when I was a kid, this game crashes more then what happens at a demolition derby. This game still, and heavily feels like it is still in Early beta. Worth while if you can get past the pay to win and heavy amount of crashes.

Like the title says “I really wanted to like this game.” There is a decent story and most of the main players are here but there are a couple of issues that don’t allow this game to recommendable to anybody. The battles are pretty simplistic. Find a team and press begin battle. The heroes go on autopilot and hope they are strong enough to win. I can look past that. What I can’t look past is the fact that the game crashed and all my data was gone. Nada, nothing was saved all the hard work and lucky pulls were gone. I spent $5 for a 3 Star hero and all gone. I was about to spend the money for a season pass cause I believe in paying developers for their time and work but now I’m glad I didn’t. This shouldn’t happen. If you are gonna have a game that has micro transactions you need to have a way to retrieve data that might get lost. There should be sometype of save systems. Totally Unacceptable! Don’t waste your time.

The only note worthy thing about this game are the ninja turtle characters. First the game takes you through the campaign levels. You’re rewarded with very little ooze, which is the only way to level up your characters. When you get to higher campaign levels it’s nearly impossible to beat the enemies because you get stuck level 5 different characters to complete milestone objective (like have 5 characters at level 50). So you can’t spend it all on one character. And you can’t even go back to previous missions to earn rewards. So you’re basically at a wall, waiting for your ooze to generate from your base, you can get your team to a high enough level. The combat is dull. You even if it’s not on auto, the only thing you can do is choose WHEN to do your super moves. There’s no choosing who to cast it on, no strategy whatsoever. no ingame world chat or clan chat at all. Seems like very little importance for joining a clan. Other than having an increase in production for your lair. some clanmates stopped logging in after a couple days due to a bogged down progression. In game purchases seem not worth it. I bought the $5 pack with splinter but the rewards for it seemed middling. There’s one with 8 hour production of exp but trust me. That’s probably not gonna get you far.

  • Game killing bugs Sep 29, 2020

I like TMNT so I tried it out. The game works so poorly I eventually gave up and uninstalled it. I played for about a week and in that time, the game disconnected me from my account (even while logged into Kongregate) 3 days right after reset. Meaning at reset the game crashes and starts new. When the game comes back up it starts a completely new account. This means you lose access to all the items you purchased until it gets fixed. This also happened twice in the same day after they reported they fixed the issue. During that week I also received a lower tier item for something I purchased and was double charged for another item. Their response was that due to privacy issues they couldn’t see anything and I need to contact Apple for a refund. From what I could tell about the gameplay the game is very highly stacked against players that don’t spend money. The premium currency (gems) is extremely out of balance. There are only a few ways to get small amounts of gems for players that don’t pay. $9.99 gets you more gems than you can earn in weeks as FTP so after spending a relatively small amount on the game I was 10x past the next person on the leaderboards. This game is not playable.
