  • Help! The Room has entrapped me! Jan 4, 2016

    By Mildoze
I can't stop playing this game. I've become enchanted by it mystery. It grabs hold of you and takes you down a blurry rabbit hole of occult and alchemical bewilderment. Similar to the atmosphere of games like Myst, The Room creates this air of haunting and mystical enigma. Constantly stringing you from one clue to the next, expect players to think critically and for themselves. The narrative is vague but creates something of a hook to keep the motivation to continue down the spiraling mechanisms of its strictly touch based and requires you to interact with the objects; lending to immersion and creating a tangibility to the room and objects of the game. I should give would be players a tip before you begin. This game uses multi touch gestures every now and again for some of the contraptions. Don't forget to experiment with all the tools and movements possible. Some things are not as they appear at first glance so always take a second look. Take your time too. There's no reward for rushing through this masterfully crafted game. I cannot recommend this game if you're not interested in solving puzzles that require more than a few taps and simple mechanics. This is a thinking mans game. Don't miss out on this series. It's one of the best games I've ever gotten on my iPad.

It's a great puzzle game. It does have a couple challenging spots but its not obscenely difficult, but I absolutely adore puzzle games like this. Unfortunately it is a bit short for not being a free game. I would of liked atleast one more level. I was able to play through it in just a few sittings. I will definitely buy the rest of the series just due to the elegant design this first one had. Overall worth the buy just wish it was a little longer.

  • GREATEST GAME EVER! May 14, 2016

WOW! I've played the first room three times, the second room twice, and the third room once! They are all really awesome! But.. I wouldn't suggest nine and up because just now I read some reviews about this game and some said the game is evil because there are demonic symbols. I believe them. The symbols did look pretty fishy... Also because the games got creepy sounds, creepy atmosphere, and a creepy storyline! About the storyline.. It's way to confusing. I honestly still don't know the story too much. This is all I know: your a person.. That comes to an attic because your curious.. You read a note from a ghost known as A.S... I think he experienced the null and died because he couldn't get out and became insane.. The null is locked up in a box and you have to open it.. When you do open it you go inside the null world and that's where the first game ends! The second game begins where you are inside this different room, you find another note. It's from A.S... He says some interesting stuff.. Like he's not the only ghost in this place... I'm telling way to much information! Oop! This review is getting way to long so I'm gonna rap it up! THIS GAME ROCKS!

Beautiful game. I never buy games but seeing the reviews ithought I'd take a chance for 99p lol. Glad I did one of the best looking games I've ever played. The puzzles start easy and get harder, you get a few road blocks but put it down for a bit and the answer comes just loving this game well worth the 99p I mean you could go to poundland and buy some junk for this amount. Still reading this just stop and go and play it.

Welcome to a cabalistic and sphinx-like world; a place where reality becomes the unknown as I explore its elaborate and labyrinthine mystification and unravel the many puzzlements that await my presence. I am overwhelmed with such perplexing and inexplicit sentiments as I try to uncover the arcane and tenebrous secrets that are hidden in every corner throughout my journey. The atmosphere appropriately exudes feelings of befuddlement and uncertainty through the photographic-like portrayal of dark, gloomy, and ill-boding illustrations; the clues and reading materials that I discover along the way further compound my senses of curiosity and wonderment. I am encouraged to access such far-reaching thoughts deep within my ordinarily used intelligence upon being presented with cryptic and obscure brain teasers; I perceive a scholarly and erudite cognition within myself as I decipher and decode the endless and intricate riddles of the various objects/contraptions that I must interact with in an unequalled, participative approach. My journey ends with a gratifying awareness of what I have accomplished and with the elation that I now advance to the next segment of this extraordinary experience.

  • Great gameplay, troubling subject matter Dec 12, 2015

    By Servo922
When one plays The Room, The player has to admit that the quality of the puzzles and style of gameplay are top notch! Some of the best in the entire app store. However, the content, or the subject matter behind the puzzles ought to be deeply troubling to any player. Despite the game designers' best efforts to assert otherwise, The Room will introduce the player to occult material. Tarot cards, astrology, satanic symbology, conjuring of demonic presence (Ashtaroth/Ishtar/Isis), and Sigils, among others. The developers suggest it is all just coincidence or meaningless because the artwork was merely invented for the game, but buyer take note that you are not purchasing a religiously neutral game. More transparency at the point of purchase would be preferable. Just know what content you are about to venture into.

This seems like a cool game with cool puzzles, but it doesn't work on my phone. The game doesn't register my taps and drags 90% of the time, and instead turns the view. To turn the combo dials I need to gesture to the left of where they're actually rendered. I really want to play this game since it seems neat, but I wouldn't recommend if you have a Pixel 2.

I purchased this game on a Saturday morning based on all the wonderful reviews. By Monday afternoon, I had completed the game! Such a disappointment! The game was interesting while I played it, but to be so short was a HUGE disappointment, especially since I shelled out money for the game. The follow-ups to this game are even more expensive than this one and based on my experience with this one, I definitely won't be wasting my money on them. I have free games that last much longer. So buyer beware....

Nice but bugged. The Epilogue has a problem with the big key puzzle and can't be completed. Aside from that I found it interesting and enjoyable. Nice time waster. EDIT: the key puzzle finally worked, but now the written letters are too dark to read. I read the original ones at the beginning just fine, but later the lighting seems to have changed making it too dark to read by. EDIT #2: the letters became brighter and I was able to finish without further issues. Very enjoyable game!

  • Deserves 5 stars, but... Aug 18, 2020

    By RitchiePaul
Incredibly well done. The puzzles are visually stunning and creative. The difficulty of the puzzles isn’t really what’s good, it’s the exploration of the complexity and the discovery that is the challenge AND the reward. I’m giving it 4/5 stars because there was a repeated technical issue that caused the screen to go black and just hang the app at several places of transition. I’d have to minimize it and bring it back or kill it and restart/resume to proceed. I can’t recommend this to a more technologically unsavvy person like my grandmother, she won’t understand what it happening during those points of failure. Developers may contact me for details, I don’t want to reveal puzzle stages here to describe when the app locked up.

Ok, so did post a negative review last time. Have been contacted by developer who helped (very quickly too). Yes the game is hard, makes you think which is good so if you get past that game is enjoyable (must be as i have the rest of the series too now)

  • Really great, but... Mar 17, 2016

    By MindieKaye
This game is fantastically crafted- the graphics and sounds are outstanding. I do think, however, that's just a bit too hard. I've played similar games and I'm generally pretty good at them (I rarely need help), but I found this game to be more and more frustrating. I often spent RIDICULOUS amounts of time trying to figure out the next step, and when I finally figured it out, I'd think, "and why would I have known that's what I was supposed to do?" Most games like this pull me in and make me want to ignore the rest of my life and keep playing, but this just frustrated me.

  • Reminiscent of games like Myst... Enjoyable Nov 4, 2015

I very much enjoy this style of puzzler, and was quite pleased at the intricacy that The Room provides. I'd say my only criticism is that for a paid app, cheap as it was, I solved it far too quickly. I would have liked to see a few more chapters, or a few more puzzles to solve in the chapters available. I intend to download Room 2, and hope it takes me more than 3 hours to solve at 3 times the cost.

  • 573? Jul 24, 2018

    By bozobanana
The game comes to a dead end at “573” on the prisms. What if I looked at the prisms with the eyepiece? Well, I did that and rotated the prisms until it revealed the number 573. And then what? Nothing. Same question on the ? mark. I double tapped all the other items on the table for a closeup so that I could interact with them, but I got no activity from any of them in order to get a clue about what to do with 573. Dead end. I loved the game until that point, but I’m not going to spend more money on the sequels just to find more dead ends.

  • Beautiful graphics, intuitive controls, but fragmented Jun 15, 2016

    By dmcondolora
The art is fantastic, the puzzle boxes are intriguing and surprising. But the glue holding the experience together, the story, is a minor part of the game, and overall the game feels like a fragment of something bigger. At the end of the game you don't have a much better idea of what is going on than you did at the start, and in this way (and in a few others) it plays almost like an advertisement for its sequel.

  • Too short Mar 21, 2017

I'm glad I only paid 99¢ for this. I finished it almost in one sitting. I guess it is cheaper than going to a movie, but I was disappointed in the length. Great graphics. Challenging puzzles. I enjoyed it. Having to tilt the whole iPad as unexpected and gimmicky. It broke the third wall. The iPad isn't the device! It's what I'm using to view the device! I wish there was a way to turn off the hints. It was too tempting to look if I got stuck for a bit. Most of the time they told me something like "x looks important" and I was already trying to figure out what to do with x. Other times they have too much info, almost saying "the answer is on the other side of the table" whereas "maybe the answer has appeared someplace" would have been enough.

  • Great game but a couple of major glitches. Jun 10, 2020

Love the series. Went to play through again but in chapter 3 when I try to use the lens to view the picture in the holder the screen just goes black and nothing else happens. Had to look up the answer to get past that puzzle. Just finished the epilogue and the dame thing happens. You see the new doorway but the screen goes black and nothing else happens.

When I first got this game, it was awesome. I did 2 of the chapters and now I am currently working on the third. But, when I use the eyepiece to look into the photo, my screen goes black. I’m not sure why, I just want a response knowing that I can go back to playing it without the screen going black. I would rate it 5 stars if it didn’t have this issue.
