Best tile strategy game out there to date. I wish there was a bit more limitations on the whales, but (while difficult) a free to play player can still find ways to be useful against big spenders. Definitely most polished and fun tile strategy game.

So, when they first came out this sort of strategy mobile game flooded the market. Most of them are just blatant rip offs of each other and have the exact same pattern on overcrowded menus and way too much stuff to pay attention to and it was all hidden behind a pay wall anyway so no one wanted to play them. This game however, is so nice and neatly packaged and it’s so user-friendly and even though it has a lot of the same overcrowded menus it’s all packaged much more neatly in that your castle only has really five buttons that you need to focus on and then you need to worry about your commanders and units. This as opposed to the other games that make you focus on 1 million different things all at once. Not to mention that it’s packaged in a lord of the rings skin which is absolutely fantastic. And also, at least for now, the game is not paid to win. I’ve seen just as many people playing for free doing really well as I have people who spent $100 on it already and have roughly the same stuff as those who work hard for it. My only criticism is that I wish there were more tips and, honestly, more commanders. But other than that this is a great game and I highly recommend it!

It has good graphics and a good story. It also has a lot of heroes you can get as you play and have a good amount of factions to choose from morder to isenguard to ruron to the elfs.there is no limit to how many army's you have out at a time and that's my favorite part about it. To upgrade buildings it don't cost a fortune or took forever even in the later stages which is also my second favorite I would highly recommend giving this game a shot

Great game bad execution I started this game mid season and joined a faction with limited players already. We are at the biggest disadvantage possible. No way to actually keep from losing. The enemies have all higher level commanders because they started at the beginning of the season. The developers need to figure out how to keep the game fair for newer players who join mid season maybe when a new player joins start them off where they should be at that point in the season with a couple high level commanders some land surrounding them and some buffs to help them build an army. The tutorial needs to be more focused on how to help a player build themselves up to be able to withstand high level enemies. Also one or two factions can’t have all the power there needs to be more balance between factions. Maybe have a limit on the number of people who can join a faction and if a player becomes inactive let someone join the faction who is new. If inactive players can be kicked that should be done as well. It is worth playing but new players should be aware when you start pick a faction with a larger crowd of people that way you have time to learn the game and don’t have to worry about battling anybody until you are ready.

Pretty good representation of the series. Sticks to the books, with some looks from the movies. The ads should probably say something like; *NOT ACTUAL GAMEPLAY* The only issue I have is I have constant trouble connecting, and I have restart the app. Not always, but most of the times I load I can't get in. If could look into that I would be very grateful. All in all, great game that LOTR fans will enjoy playing.

This game is visually stunning. Collecting the different characters from the books and movies is also a lot of fun, especially with their cinematics. The game changes as the season goes on, morphing from a strictly PVE game to a mix of PVE and PVP. Late game requires a lot of coordination and strategy to get the rewards they have set out to motivate massive battles. My complaints: there’s no way to completely defeat someone. You can uproot their city which sends the. Somewhere else, they have the option to come back time and again. Some of the battle mechanics don’t make sense like if you March on a tile but it changes hands while you’re marching you’ll just uturn instead of attacking the enemy army waiting there. There should also be an easier way to time when attacks hit so it is easier to coordinate your commanders. The max size of the barracks is not enough for late game use especially after you have collected a lot of commanders. Love the game and you can play on the cheap and still succeed! I have literally only spent $1 to get Aragorn II and I am currently 11th on my server for total ring power! Very addictive and very fun!

This game is headed in the right direction, in the current state it is I still enjoy it a decent amount as the fighting, expanding, and characters make it interesting enough. However there are a few things that need to be changed to really get this game going. 1) the screen needs to have less buttons. It took me a while to figure out where everything is because there are so many different buttons to press, this needs some streamlining in the sense of certain things being combined based on commonalities, or certain aspects just need to be gotten rid of. 2) the fighting. I want to watch the battle ‘live’, like while it is happening but I can only watch the replay in the inbox so I already know what’s about to happen so it takes away from the suspense and interest. Not only this but the characters that are fighting need to be refined; the animations done make it feel too rigid and unnatural. The fighting is definitely something that will make or break for many players so future updates really need to make it more interesting and really feel like a battle otherwise this game will most likely nose dive. Overall though it is a pretty solid game that I enjoy and recommend for some, but not all.

I am enjoying that the only thing people who spend money can buy is the season, which just isn't quite as much of an advantage and that you can only have so many troops. It really makes people spend resources wisely. The downside is that the servers close so quickly without enough active players. Maybe the buffs should be taken away period so that people pick based just on their preferred name? It's been interesting to say the least, I would recommend.

If you don't pick the winning team/faction; you're destined to lose. Pay to win is incredibly prevalent. Once one faction takes the advantage many people stop playing making team work and cooperation within your faction incredibly challenging. My faction leader didn't login for days ( maybe weeks) so we were unable to declare war and eliminate siege reduction. Making the team organizing we did do pointless and therefore incredibly disheartening.

Fun concept, ruined by imbalanced factions and whether or not you are lucky enough to join the right one. Don't bother unless you have a discord group Game heavily favors eastern European and Asian players, maintenance is done often and during peak hours in the US. Don't play unless you hate sleep. Game desperately needs balancing and regional servers or they will lose players rapidly
  • Board game style = bored gamer within one hour Sep 23, 2021

    By Dodoboy18
Ok, so I gave it a good hour from 9-10 last night. Lore, art design, music, all good for LOTR… but what is this game? I picked the ring wraith faction. The game makes it clear that we are all amassing large armies to hunt the one ring, just like the story. Fine. I find myself acquiring really cool orc troops, I have 3 recruited commanders that are cool. It’s a land acquisition game though. It’s like, March here, acquire land for future war, use resources to build up home base… but where is the real combat? Oh, one hour in, I am finally marching in to a square where an actual physical army is… the battle I’ve been waiting for! … not really. You watch these cheesy animations play out in front of you and as far as I can tell, you aren’t doing anything to affect the outcome. It’s all about deploying an army that has balanced forces but man… it was PRETTY boring when it came to me actually feeling like I’m at the helm of a fearsome orc/Uruk-hai army that is trying to dominate the landscape. I like board games, but I play board games with dice and other tangibles that make the experience more enriching and random at times. This game is all about … “nice army… want that square of land? It’s a level 10… go for it.. nice.. you got the land… you want the next piece of land? It’s a level 15 piece of land… too hard… wait 30 minutes

If you are looking for a LOTR game, keep looking. This isn't it. This is just yet another empire building game...because we don't have enough of those yet. As an empire game it is one of the better ones. But that was not what it was sold to me in the ads. J.R.R Tolkien would be disappointed....elves fighting elves, men fighting men, both having alliances with mordor. Sauron would be proud though. The lessons of his books are lost here. Hope Tolkien's family is enjoying the royalties.
  • Fun to try but to toxic to play Nov 5, 2021

    By Kasumi Goto
The game is fun at first, there’s this immersion with the world that is very nostalgic. Building up is fun and grouping together with others can be a delight. However, the game serves (I have been on five now) quickly become over run with people making multiple accounts. Due to there being low populations in every server to get members and power in the factions people cheat. There is no set rule for making multiple accounts and the games teams do nothing about it. Eventually by last 5 chapters of season 1 the entire server is usually a few players with one account vs a single faction with 2-5 alt accounts. Add in the fact that people are just down right nasty in these games, most of the time are the cheaters. Overall the games fun to try but not worth to keep playing. Every server becomes a toxic wasteland of alt accounts. Even with a new season and “sever merger” it’s all the same. Until the devs and team actually do something about it’s toxic players and the rampant cheating it’s not worth the data or space on your phone.
  • Not Sure How Long This Game Is Gonna Be Around Sep 29, 2021

    By Resolution Of Hector
Good graphics and back story. And at first the premise was great. That is until you read up a bit and find out that it is season based. From what I read a season lasts 2 months. During each season there are different goals to accomplish, which is all well and good. But once the season ends everything resets….the entire game. From what I understand, from what I have read, every few months you have to start over from scratch. And while you can choose a new race like orcs, elves, dwarves, men, etc to be….you lose all progress in the game. Your base, armies, heros, etc gets reset. Imagine those who paid money to play, invested in the game just to find out every few months you lose everything you spent money on. The ptp players are gonna drop like flies. And if few to none pays to play the game will die. This would be a great game for the free to play players, but if the company who made it can’t afford to keep the servers open….well it’s bye bye game.
  • A cash grab I was willing to play Oct 28, 2021

    By Chaos overlord
Its a game of fire 2.0, but since it’s lord of the rings I was willing to try it out and its fine. My biggest gripe is that when I send an army to a tile and an enemy takes the tile and leaves, even if the army they sent has long left the tile and the transition time has been completed due to my army’s long trek to it…my army continues the journey to the tile and immediately gets sent on its journey back. I cant even make them turn back because if they march over three minutes you cant make that order. Its dumb that I have to wait for them to complete their journey and then have to wait even longer for them to return. Ive had instances where theres 15 minutes left on their 20 minute journey and I see their targeted tile be taken by another faction and I’m here livid having to to wait 35 minutes for my army to return from a fruitless journey. Fix that mechanic.
  • Tappy, Tappy, Pay-to-win Nov 21, 2021

    By Zoll.Andrew
This game could have been great. It takes at least a week of playing it to understand what is actually going on. There are a lot of power systems and wait timers which is annoying, but the absolute most egregious part of this game is how utterly pay-to-win it is. You can have maxed your commanders out at lv. 50 and have decent troops and gear, but if you go against someone who’s spent a bunch of money on this game, you’re going to lose and you’re barely going to make a scratch in their forces. It’s frustrating enough that I may just quit because it happens at least twice a day for me. It’s not fun waiting 7 hours to have enough troops to form 5 decent armies only to have all 5 of them get one-shotted the moment I get to the battlefield because Winston spent $23,000 on mommy’s credit card.

  • Okayish Nov 7, 2021

    By M1nth
Theme is good, music is awesome, gameplay is fairly good, similar to Rise of Kingdoms. The game seems to be less of a pay to win model compared to other similar games, however, it still is. You can do fairly good against low/medium spenders, but you’ll always find a huge whale in each server … (had two) which completely kills the game … The game itself is pretty fun in the early game/mid game, however end game is a lot less fun, need to be constantly on to fend off other factions and that’s pretty much all. Also factions are not balanced at all and some factions have a lot more active players which makes the game totally unbalanced. Fun to play for a few weeks, after that it becomes more of a “I have to log in because” and not a “I play because I enjoy it”, so give it a try but don’t put too much of yourself into it.

  • Best LOTR Game Out There Oct 21, 2021

    By GoddessKite
I'm so thrilled this game is out! I've played various Middle-Earth based games out there and this one is just more together and fun to play than most. The only thing I would ask for is that there was some sort of mini-game (or games) in it where you could gain very small amounts of XP for commanders (or some other resource) but be able to play it as much as you wanted. It would make for a fun way to kill time in the app while you're waiting for buildings to be constructed or troops to be conscripted, etc. Overall, though I'm very please with this game and will be looking forward to gaining more commanders and troop types. Hopefully there will be updates from time to time with even more commanders from the books and movies.
  • Actually Strategic Sep 29, 2021

I see a lot of other reviews ragging on the combat or the stamina recharge, but this game isn’t like other MMOS. Paying to win is tackled super hard by this game, and so you have to actually strategize when and where to use your stamina. You only need it for certain commander actions. There’s so much depth to the challenges the game throws at you, and this is one of them. I love how factions aren’t focused on fighting each other, so much as fighting the other factions (i.e. Mordor vs. Dwarves of Erebor), and the resources aren’t just simply farmed. You have to strategically conquer land to produce for you! Which I think is great! Can’t wait to see how the faction wars are handled, but it’s far too early to count this game out yet. Really enjoying it.

I was hasty in my survey, so I figured I’d make a review. The game is 5/5 because of how forgiving it is to players who don’t want to pay. I haven’t spent a dime and have nearly the top tier troops ready for war. The commander progress is a little slow for my liking, but the events they have to select farm for specific commanders is a very good step In the right direction. My server is currently at war with the elves and my tier 3 troops are keeping up with the main powerhouses as of now, so if they have spent money, I feel sorry a broke dwarf like me is giving them a run for their money(literally). All in all, the graphics are good, the progression is satisfying and the lord is very nice to delve into.

Dude, these "bad" ads are exceptional. The one where the priest begins by exonerating the guy's sins until he finds out he stole other people's lands then kills him is hilarious. 5 stars, don't care how the gameplay is.

Cons: Balance over-favors larger factions, money spenders, high play time, and higher level commanders. Should be adjusted to reduce those differences. Should be slightly more strategic agency in combat beyond army composition, timing, and territory control. Pros: LotR skin is pretty nice and extensive, especially the map. Models, animations, and art are all nice. Cooperation in faction and fellowships is engaging, server-side season goals are neat, and early game management is fun.

This game is good for the strategy minded. I've seen people quit after just losing a few battle and had no long term strategy. If you are looking for quick action then this may not be your game. This game require long thought out strategy, diplomacy, etc. The game is not very old so I foresee some tweeking of the system (typical buffing and nerfing of stuff).

Graphics are good. Voiceovers were nice while they lasted but like every other build/conquer game, lots of flare to pull you in then meh. I gave it 4 stars because I recognize it must of taken time and money to make this game but in the end its just another clone of 50 games that came before it. Im tired of the same old concepts being given a cosmetic makeover and peddled as something new.

Suggestions. 1. Let us view others warband members 2. Allow us to post Achievements or have kill tracker on profile to know which ones really join the fight. 3. I don't think 1 power tiles should take 30mins to deconstruct. Maybe make it a progressed amount of time depending on power land. There's a few more things but I'll wait until the above have been added or near what I suggested before in hopes the things I seek are added.

I love the game, it’s not pay to win like most other mobile games but the only issue I don’t like abt it is that the Evil factions don’t really have much in the troop department they are basically all soft units that don’t deal a lot of damage like other factions units and every other faction has multiple tanks while the evil on the other hand has 1 which is the trolls but then you have the other factions units that negates our only tanks which gives a unfair advantage in combat which then you tried to make up with siege units that are basically useless if you haven’t cleared all the troops that were already there in the first place which I would normally be ok with if I believe we should have a less of a siege defuff instead of the normal -70%

This game is very rough around the edges. Like extremely so. The user interface is barely intuitive if at all. The “Help” function doesn’t offer much help either. So most of the time you’re experimenting of how the game works, which could be interesting in itself. The war aspect is very simplistic. Being a FarmVille type of grinder for your main way of taking over territory like in all those other mobile games. BUT! Having a lot of players to work together on taking over regions and fighting with different factions. Finding a diplomatic solution to the problem. Building strategy. Is quite fun. So if you’re into an experience of talking and politics. This is right up your alley.

Honestly I really like the game it can be kinda pay to win but so far I haven’t paid a single cent . I did join a good clan so that is key as well. Honestly like this game more the GOT conquest. Also their chapter book to get rewards which is nice. Then there’s tip tasks which can level up commanders and if lucky get food rewards. Also each troops from different factions counter certain troops. Also I like the idea that u can have other faction troops and commanders. Honestly really like this type game so much better and improvement then most type games like this out there. NEW PLAYER get strong fast as possible and basically u gotta play until u can log in and play every hour or so.

Overall I’m pretty happy with this game, it is lots of fun to play and the strategy is good. There are a few problems that would be nice if they fixed at some point though. For one you don’t actually control anything in the battles you just March your armies and they fight, I think this type of game should let you have more control over the fights. One thing I think they should add is Harad as a nation, it doesn’t make sense to have a huge part of the bottom of the map empty when there’s o reasons to go down there, and Harad would be a really fun nation to play as.

This game is great. Super addicting, fun pvp and a great way to make in game friends. I went through the whole season thinking the commanders were the only things that didn't reset at the end. Making commander levels reset at the end killed the game for me. The game is a time pit... But a fun one.

The game needs more content. Once you reach a certain point there is little to do. Gameplay would also be a welcome addition. As of now everything in the game consists of click and wait. The "battles" are not interactive and even though you can watch them I can't imagine anyone wanting to.

This game would be better if it allowed you to conquer or take back land from even your own faction who steal land right next to you it's not fair it makes you want your money back or at least never want to spend another dollar on it. On top of that as soon as you really don't have much else to do you lose interest in the game nothing really keeping you going or making you want to keep playing.

Game is fun. Lots of cool people on here. But god damn the grind is real. You either pay your way to the top or crawl over broken glass with no clothes on to even get close to top 100. Its pretty clear this game is a cash grab for lotr and im fine with that but at least make it fair to low levels. My friend basiclly got bullied out of the game by constant attacks and being bothered constantly. I haven't had this issue though luckily but seriously make it a bit more fair for them

So the graphics and characters everything is great its a carbon copy of the movie. However that’s where all the positives end. The time it takes for your stamina to recharge is crazy. Did I mention that there’s no way to refill your stamina other than waiting? Stamina is needed for everything so just trying to get resource plots is gonna cost you 10 stamina. So by the time you do start getting in the groove you’re out of stamina and then you start losing interest in the game. There’s no resource boxes for purchase or anything like that. You can buy gems but can’t use the gems to replenish your stamina or resources so its pretty dumb to buy gems. Hopefully they fix these issues but I’m going to uninstall it for now

I like the game overall so far I feel immersed but I feel like we could have a little bit more customization options for our city’s. And I wish the battle system was more better like being able to actual control what your archers do and Calvary etc. I mean it’s a good start and very fun but just wish there was more stuff to do when going to war against other army’s. Y’all got this I was excited for this game and hope for the best. Also why does it say it’s a draw when I killed all of there soldiers and I only lost a few. That doesn’t make any sense we should win if all there soldiers are dead
  • Good but wipes out progress every season. Sep 29, 2021

    By Chris Nesbitt
So I have just started playing the game and I absolutely love it. The experience and interaction with other players as well as the skill base progression instead of pay to play is great… now the downside is, all the progress that she make within a season of this game is totally wiped out save a few features your heroes. All the armies and units you unlock are absolutely erased… this makes playing the game unattractive to players Who played hard for what they earn or build. Won’t be playing this long. Epic fail for such a good feel of a game. Gameplay= awesome 🏆👍🏾 progress reset = trash 🗑 defeats the purpose👎🏾

  • Cashing in on Nostalgia Sep 26, 2021

    By AustinStJames
As a LOTR fan I got this game on release and have over 2k ring power/hr. I have not and do not plan to spend cash in game, I LOVE the characters and finally being able to play and see the story from The forces of Sauron side, but that’s pretty much where the positives end for me. Resources are terribly scarce and hard to replenish and WAY too many troops die in battle, you need these resources to heal your troops and recruit more, thus making it near impossible to build a massive army and keep them alive without exhausting resources, it’s hard to get upgrades and equipment through the tavern missions as you can only do so many without having to spend gems. This game is cashing in on the LOTR name and people’s nostalgia. Can be fun if you want to spend the cash though.

I love LOTR and have been waiting for this game since it was announced, and I understand the he initial hurdles with a new launch; however, I’m irritated with this “season system” and it feels like there’s no reason to spend money or invest any real effort into the game, because everything resets after a while, and it doesn’t even reset in the time they say it will! The developers have been quoting the 25th as the release for all the new content and the server reset, but it’s the 26th now and nothing has changed. I tried messaging someone for help on Facebook with no response. I really hope this isn’t another example of a LOTR title being poorly run by a dispassionate team. LOTR deserves better!
  • Unbalanced Oct 12, 2021

    By Kenway302
This game is enjoyable, but the main reason I play is the Lore. The server I am in is extremely lopsided. The pay to win in this game is real. It’s disappointing to literally play every day, even spend $30 on it, because you enjoy it and want to support it, just to be owned by a player who has no limit to what they will spend. Due to the way the commanders work, their respect level, and their gear… it makes it almost impossible to come close to being able to stand a chance against some players. You can easily get steamrolled in some of these servers, and my server isn’t the only one where one faction is dominating. Also, keep in mind this game has only been out like 3 weeks, and there are people in the game that already have the best commanders, the best gear, have high respect levels for their commanders. The devs have put their time into the lore, the different types of soldiers and so on.. it really needs a balance overall. I’ve literally played this game every day since the release and my faction is decently active, but the dollar is mightier than the sword.
  • Like the game, wish I could play with friends Oct 14, 2021

    By Bill Nye Guy
Game is fine. I’ve enjoyed playing it so far and I’ve been having a fun time. The problem is a friend of mine wanted me to play with him so I downloaded it and we got put in different servers. Good news is you can switch servers! The really bad news is you have to completely, utterly, 100% restart if you switch servers. That is extremely lame and has made both of our interests drop since that wasn’t ever explained until it was too late. If I could switch servers, would up to 4 stars. I’m even trying to move to an earlier server, which means I wouldn’t be moving to a new one with brand new players but people who were playing longer.
  • Game concept is ok Nov 4, 2021

    By Small joy
Game concept is okay. It’s a good idea and fun. But the toxicity of players is absolutely atrocious. The fact they limit and censor English speakers but allow other languages to use extremely vulgar words. The fact they turn a blind eye to the evil factions and with no repercussions to their behavior or what they say in world chat. The fact they allow bullying from the evil factions and even highly inappropriate conversations towards children under 18 without repercussions. So if your are young or have children I absolutely suggest avoiding game at all cost. Until they hold all players in all factions and from all nationalities accountable the game concept will be over shadowed by bullies.
  • Not what you think it is Oct 16, 2021

    By Dismal Wreck
This is not a game of good vs evil, or alliances vs dark forces. It’s a cut throat free for all where everyone actively fights each other and fellowship leaders are averse to actual alliances. This is partly due to there being no real in game function for forming alliances, and no incentive to form alliances. It’s basically just your word. If you were looking for a lore accurate LOTR game to play you will not find it here. This is basically Game of Thrones in a LOTR costume. You’re just as likely to be attacked by elves and dwarves as you are orcs and trolls, and vice versa. No real linear composition, no real story, not lore friendly at all. Just another resource grab / march armies game milking the Tolkien name. Nothing special.

  • Good thought poor community Oct 3, 2021

This is rather interesting and tries to bring new ideas to the base building/army buildings games. It was fun for a rather short time. Less than 1 day into playing I have had 4 people me for just playing the game. Haven’t bothered anyone but they are demanding I stop doing what your supposed to do. The developers really need to change how new players are positioned. One of the key concepts of this game is expanding your territory. When I started there was 5 players right on top of each other. Effectively cause conflict immediately. I’m not dealing with such a toxic community so will be deleting. I play games to have fun not be harassed for no reason. Especially a player so new. Maybe I’ll try again after a few updates but unless your looking to just fight with people look for a better game.

Tier 4 unit of mordor ( Ravagers ) has 4 anti unit that can easily defeat them , they are very slow and useless in battles ! angmar and isengard hasnt any mumakil camp or fellbeat lair … they surrended by many enemies … So i suggest as a experience player of this game to all of you if you are a fan of evil and villains , dont install this game , its shiet

The game limits you extremely hard to push you to buy enhancements with money. The queues and length of waiting requires doesn’t even allow you to enjoy the game. The game is meant to make you wait for long periods till you crack and spend stupid amounts of money for TEMPORARY speed boosts. The game offers no fun except the grind of waiting hours, but they give you a boost for 24hrs when you first start so you get hooked, then you have to deal with even longer queues after that ‘newcomers’ boost. Thank you devs for just creating a game that coerces people into spending loads of money to just play a game, or waste their time to play the game freely. If they offered permanent enhancements i could understand, but temp boosts? goodbye.

I was ring level 35, main hall level 6 I had 3 commanders level 25, 23, 18 (approximately). All the hard work I put in gone, I thought maybe I accidentally logged out of my account NOPE all my data just gone wiped. I WAS having fun with the game I love LOTR and the developers did a good job with building the game BUT that’s all for nothing when the game can’t keep your data and wipes you from the server!!!! I will not be restarting I put too much work into it to just start from scratch again. Be warned it’s good for sticking to Lore, fun game but your data could be wiped at any moment
