  • Great biblical sound resource Nov 29, 2020

    By Eve Hamiton
This is a great app to invest in. Think about all the things we could spend money on that distracts us from what we really need to be doing: Learning from the word of God and biblical sound resources. I totally recommend this app. I would like to know (if there is a way) how I can go straight to my book I’m listening without having to start from 0 and having to forward it :). Maybe I am super blind and don’t see where something like “my downloads” or “my library” is. I thank God for the Wilson family and their children. May the Lord keep using them for a faithful biblical sound ministry.

Great content, reasonably priced. App is a little buggy at times, so four stars for now, but I'm confident that that will improve with time. It's been a huge blessing to be able to listen to so many great audio books and podcasts while I work (Stories Are Soul Food is my current favorite podcast). Thanks for all you do, Canon Press! Soli Deo Gloria!

  • Great content, but app needs work. Nov 29, 2020

    By Chris Mascia
Every bit of content I've checked out has been phenomenal. So far, "Notes From the Tilt-a-Whirl" audio book has been my favorite. If I could rate separate categories, content would get five stars. Unfortunately, the app leaves a bit to be desired. The biggest drawback is that your place in videos and audiobooks is not saved when you leave the app. That means you have to remember about where you were and manually search for your place. It's particularly difficult for the audiobooks because they aren't broken up into chapters in the conventional way. Each chapter is not it's own track. There is one continuous track but the timer resets to zero at each chapter break. Unless this bug is fixed, I wouldn't pay a subscription for access to this content.

Enjoying the app. I am (as of v. 1.4) still experiencing the problem with playback not resuming from the previous stop point on Android 11. 2/19/21: Still having problems with the audio resuming properly. Driving the boy to work, trying to scan to the timestamp in The Winter King where we last left off because it never keeps track of the last stopping point; almost hit a moose; okay, we're okay; have we heard this part before?

  • Awesome! But please make some changes... Jan 4, 2021

Content is spectacular. Supporting this ministry directly by supporting Canon Press’s own platform is very smart in our day and age. Content I give 5 stars. Critiques: The layout is a bit confusing. It is hard to navigate and find the content I want. Also a HUGE issue is not being able to save my progress when listening to an item (lecture or book). I have to manually write down the time stamp of where I left off and even then, scrubbing precisely through something on this app is very sloppy. Please understand these issues are a BIG problem that are significant barriers to users being able to enjoy the content. For these reasons only I am giving it 3 stars.

Edited: I am so pleased that the issues have been fixed! Changing to 5 stars! Thank you Original: Iso very much want to continue with the paid subscription, but its not user friendly in regards to audiobooks. There's no way to choose chapters, and it's constantly resetting me to random places, & I cannot start & stop it via Bluetooth like i can w/pod catcher programs/ audible/etc (big deal for me) (also happened to someone in their iPhone app). I'm very willing to pay for this treasure, but if that isn't updated soon, I may get phased out due to difficulty of using, which is sad!

  • Oh so wonderful! Feb 12, 2021

And getting better all the time. Just finished The Winter King a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. All of the content is a treasure trove of goodness and they keep adding more! Every time I open the app it adds value to my family. I really don’t know how we made it this far without having the Canon app all those many years. I’m hopeful that at some point in the future the content quantity will reach critical mass sufficient to cut the cord to other entertainment media apps.

  • The App you didn’t know you needed Nov 13, 2020

The content produced by Canon Press is life changing. I and my family have grown closer together because of their work. And now! You can access their books and material with a subscription here. It’s cheaper than buying a book a month (or close to a nice cup of coffee a month if you do the annual subscription) and you get an immense amount of goodness right here. I’m eager to get started. I can’t recommend Canon Press enough.

For as huge as this app was when it launched, it was surprisingly not buggy, and was fixed quickly. Even at its worst, the Android audio tracking issue was manageable. Fantastic way to get through a lot of audiobooks, and I discovered more then a few mind-blowing conferences in the archives.

This app has been a huge blessing for me, and I so want to give it five stars; however, even with the most recent app version, I'm still experiencing the problem of the app not saving my spot when I'm listening to either an audio book or a podcast. As others have said, I'll gladly change the rating to 5 stars once it's fixed

Great content! My only issue is that it has trouble maintaining a connection with bluetooth (discovered this across multiple bluetooth devices, and even with content downloaded for offline). Bugs like this are common so I have confidence it will be eventually fixed.

  • Family options Dec 21, 2020

    By Me hashtag
I’m loving the app. Two problems I’ve found 1) when listening to books the app has a hard time remembering where you were when you last listened. My books keep starting back at the beginning. Which leads to me spending several minutes trying to find where I was. 2) no family sharing options. My husband and I both want to listen on our phones, but can’t pay for two subscriptions. I wish there was a way to share the subscription with your immediate family members so that we dont have to pay for two separate accounts. Edit: third problem I found: why do I have to log in every time I close the app?? Very frustrating. And losing my place in the audio book every time has made me cancel my subscription. Which really stinks because I love the content. If these things get fixed I’ll re-subscribe.

  • Love the content, frustrated with the functionality Feb 18, 2021

    By Disappointed-/-/:
I love the content on this app! However, it is extremely frustrating that I can’t use my downloaded content offline. I work in a place where I get no cell service or wifi connection, so I have to download everything I listen to. When I select something I’ve downloaded on the Canon App to listen to, nothing will play and it acts like it is not downloaded. It is extremely frustrating especially since I pay for a service that I can’t really use much. Please try and fix this issue soon, or I’m afraid I might have to cancel my subscription until it is fixed.

Love the content and the idea of being able to listen to such great books on audio. But, as others have mentioned, the fact that it never keeps my place and reverts back to the last place I started is really getting on my nerves. It does it every time I turn on my phone from sleep mode. Not knowing what time stamp I left off I have to painstakingly find my place with the clumsy time bar feature. It'd be nice if it broke things up by chapters. Can't wait to give this app 5⭐ once bugs are fixed.

  • Great content. Still needs work Jan 8, 2021

    By Shea Stacy
Douglas Wilson and the people at Canon are giving great content and access to wonderful resources. I’m thankful for it and happy to pay for it. However the app is consistently buggy. Doesn’t save where you are at in sermons, and books. Could use better descriptions of content and landing pages for each individual content piece. And if audio books had better reference options to be able to find chapters and sections. When you lose your spot half way through a book and then just have to guess your way to find the spot is difficult.
