5 stars for one of my favorite games, regardless of platform. But the 3rd game isnt available on mobile, and all info points to them not porting it. Given the nature of the game itself, this is EXTREMELY disappointing and frustrating. I wanna drop the rating, but can't just because the game is so good. Art/music/story/characters. A+. Pls bring Banner Saga 3 to mobile so I can pay you more money.

The first time I played I couldn't import my game into Banner Saga 2. The second time I played, I did it over the course of a weekend in an attempt to start Banner Saga 2 right after. Seeing that Banner Saga 2 was just as challenging, if not more challenging, than the first game, I put it down. I just picked up Banner Saga 1 and played through it a third time, so that I could maintain story cohesion for Banner Saga 2. I'm glad I did!! Banner Saga 2 was very epic in a lot of new ways, while maintaining all of the really cool features of the first: nail-biting strategy RPG battles, nail-biting Oregon Trail choice making, a KILLER musical score, and beautiful art. I will probably play Banner Saga 2 a second time in anticipation of playing the third. Thank you for this beautiful RPG, very exciting and memorable!

I’m a very picky iOS gamer. When I first bought this game, I knew it was a big commitment. And it is, you need to plan on playing this for multiple hours because it’s that immersive. And after completing this game, I’m in love with the world that this story takes place in. The developers, writers, and beautiful minds over at Stoic have my whole heart. It’s so rare to find a game that on every level makes you impressed. There was never a point in the game (on iOS or PC) where I thought, “not a fan.” The story, the music, the voice acting, the controls, the gameplay, the map, and the world design have made me fall in love. Congrats Stoic, you have my full support if you continue to put this much effort and love into your games. For such a small game and for only $9.99, you have truly made one of my favorite games of all time. I may never meet you guys, but I hope your careers are long and prosperous because I want to keep playing Banner Saga. P.S. This game is perfect for my style of gaming, but not for others. It’s all preference. Edit: Thanks for the response, and thank you for sharing with the team! Can’t wait to play Banner Saga 3!

Gorgeous artwork, excellent storyline, complex characters, and compelling game design are threads that weave a tapestry of profound experience. The darkness of humanity and civilization combat the better angels of our nature, usually between parties but often within individuals, including you, the player, who is forced to make difficult decisions that impact the game and your relationships within it. This combines with a unique system of resource management and combat mechanics that leave you wanting more. By the end of the game (which I played for at least 12 hours), you forget the somewhat steep price (for a mobile game) because the experience is well worth it. Stoic has gone above and beyond with this saga. I will be purchasing parts 2 (on iOS) and 3 (on PS4).

Written on: Monday January 30, 2018 First off, i bought this game December 14, 2017 and just completed it two days ago. While this is a review, i will also address people's complaints. The banner saga is a grimly tale of Norse mythology set to the tone of a viking Oregon Trail, meaning it is very strategic and consequential if not played like that! Their are 7 chapters in the game each with very heavy dialogue sections that are not voice acted, and is set to be a trilogy. The controls are fine and tailored to ios so you won't have a problem. The animations are beautifully drawn out as you transverse the 11-15 hour game. Their is a very non existent settings in the game where all you can do is select your language, volume/ music on or off and that's it however i will have to commend the developers because they actually incorporated extra settings in your device settings for the game which to my knowledge has never been done before! overall, The story of banner saga is one of hardships, choice and consequence and strategy where one wrong move means defeat!!!!!

Easily one of the best games ever on iPad. Gorgeous artwork and a compelling storyline replete with twists based upon a player's leadership decisions. Couple that with a turn-based strategic battle system that rewards foresight, team synergy, and thoughtful use of limited upgrade points and items, and you've got a dead lock winner. The range of characters and abilities allow lots of experimentation and the dynamic storyline often leaves you wondering if you could've handled a situation better, giving the game very high replay value. My only complaint is that the story ended hahaha. On to part 2, and hoping for an iOS version of part 3 soon!

Criminally short for the price. You can beat this game in just a few hours and the story/graphics are good but not enough to justify the cost when you can buy games with as much content at half the price, or get a port of a console game for the same money. Definetly skipping the second game.

Customer support only pretends to care and only responds to reviews posted here. Asked about a patch, updates or help as to why I'm unable to get past the second encounter in the game. And got no reply besides the generic bot reply. Asked about a refund and they have completely ignored my email. These guys can kick rocks for their lack of help, communication, and for shipping a broken game.

Game Crashes frequently, is unplayable after a while. On PC it's a great game but I thought I could have fun in my cellphone as well. Stay with the PC version, this one isn't stable.

Whe I love what I have played so far, compatability issues cause the game to freeze so frequently and lose progress on newer devices that it doesn't hold up. I am unable to progress and have been made to reply the same fight with each attempt.

One of the greatest mobile games I have ever played. If you're interested in viking or medieval based games this is the one for you. I'm glad you guys imported this game and I wish you can also port the third game in the series! The game although might be a bit short as others stated but I can say that every moment is enjoyable.

This game had been on my wish list for a while, but I kept putting off playing it. Well, I just finished it, and I'm taking a moment to write this review before I purchase BS2. This game is very well done. Story, characters, art direction. Banner Saga sets the standard for how much content and world-building can be accomplished with current game design limitations. It just feels like it 'does a lot with a little'. I don't like how some choice outcomes feel like their only purpose was to shock you, or have the opposite outcome of your desired effect with no hints or clues beforehand. Rolling a 4 sided die is only fun for so long, so you end up going to online walkthroughs which really does pull you out of the immersive experience (I played the first half of the game completely blind, and it was so awesome) Well done, Stoic. This has earned a top 5 spot in my all time favorite video games, something I never thought possible of an iOS title. I'm off to start the 2nd game, hope the 3rd one releases soon!
  • Best tactical RPG ever made on mobile Dec 28, 2017

This game is simply fantastic. Well balanced and fun to replay. I had zero issues with crashes or corrupted files and believe most of those issues must have been fixed. Be ready for gorgeous art, compelling music and an amazing story. I am a huge fan of Nordic history and this is a fun, creative take on the genre. The studio seems active and responsive, as well. This game is worth the price of admission, and I can’t wait for BS3 in 2018. I have literally zero complaints about this game other than the fact that I didn’t want it to end (it does end, unfortunately). Stop reading this and buy it.
  • Due to BS I’ve bought this game and the second one twice...But it is MORE THAN WORTH IT! Dec 28, 2017

First things first...THIS GAME AND ITS SEQUEL ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT, The top 5 Games you could get on this platform. So because the title might be cut off, I will repeat what I said. Due to BS I’ve bought this game and the second one twice...But it is MORE THAN WORTH IT! The story, the voice acting, the setting, the decision making (NOT BLACK AND WHITE AND BELIEVE ME YOU CANNOT PREDICT THE RESULTS OF YOUR CHOICES LIKE A MASS EFFECT STYLE GAME) There arnt enough compliments I can give this game (and BS2) So summarizing....IF YOU LIKE TURN BASED STRATEGY, Fantasy, RPGs, Or Are looking for a good story...BUY THESE GAMES....YOU MOST CERTAINLY WILL NOT REGRET IT. Love and respect everyone. -Jim

I really enjoyed this game but there are a couple problems. 1. The fight scenes. If I can only move one guy per turn, I at least should be able to choose which guy. It is totally possible in a real fight, some guys-like archers-would stay in one place. Why can’t I move the same guy twice in a row? I have to waste a turn telling an archer to stay in place. 2. Got a little boring watching my numbers go down-morale, clansmen, varl, supplies-as my little line of dudes marched on through the viking wilderness. I would have liked the option for the caravan members to hunt along their way. Maybe the game developers wanted to stress the cruel leanness of the times. Something to think about. This game is extremely story driven, lots and lots of choosing dialogue and watching cartoon twiddling of fingers and blinking. That said, the animation is awesome, the dialogue smart, and the soundtrack beautiful. The backstory is compelling and I had quite a few hours being engrossed.
  • Miss playing Oregon Trail? Sep 3, 2018

    By JordanJay7
This game was nice. I was looking for a game similar to fire emblem and was originally disappointed at the gameplay so it sat in my phone for awhile before giving it another chance. As I got into it more I realized how similar it is to a childhood favorite, Oregon Trail. I eventually beat the game. It was the right amount of challenging and the story was interesting enough to keep me coming back. My only grime was I didn’t love the characters. They just didn’t do it for me. Maybe it was the dry cliche dialect, idk. In all it was a good enough time to garnish 4 stars from me tho perhaps that’s being generous. I do intend to play the second one tho.

You need to update it so it fits my entire iPhone X screen. It is soooooo difficult to read everything! It’s so tiny! The words are too small. Also, there are a lot of spelling errors and lastly there are several situations where no matter what option you choose it is the same outcome. So why have an option in that case? So far I’ve enjoyed the game. However I’ve had to look up how to play it for advance tutorials. The in game tutorials are lacking a little. Obviously it has Great artwork and interesting story. I’d give it four stars if the update it for iPhone X. Until than I will continue to squint. I would give it five stars if the options you choose in the game (or choices you make) have a greater influence on the story, not just influencing moral, supplies, and renown. For an iOS game this is a great one! So I can’t complain but I do offer those ideas towards improving it. Thanks

Stoic has presented a beautiful game with interesting character development and a cool unique art style. Combat however can be a nightmare. Moves are turn based and movement is tile based with locked decisions Incase you misclick. There are odd combat features including enemies being able to move past you without opportunity attacks and odd ranged attacks which can shoot far straight but only half the distance diagonally in certain cases. I found the whole thing to be a bit clunky which is a shame because the story is phenomenal and the game does a great job at keeping you hooked and always on your back foot ensuring you never feel too powerful. All in all I think this brings the game to a 3/5 for me as it’s less of a game and more an interactive story.

I installed on a Note10+.... Game froze in the middle of the second battle. I should have listened to the other reviewers, but thought the devs would have fixed it considering its mostly Samsung users having issues. I went to unistall and get a refund... No refund button....I reached out to Devs and they sent a Tool to help alleviate the issues, that didn't work. Devs reached out again to offer a refund.

I played on a different device and enjoyed it, but now I can't get past the mead Hall fight without it crashing. I'm on a galaxy note 20.

Would gladly give this game 5 stars if they had the entire trilogy available on iOS. It’s like someone is selling you the first 2/3rd of a book and having no option to read the ending! The games are pieces of the story and do not have concrete endings until you finish all three. All of your choices carry over game to game and have a huge impact on the final ending you receive. Without having the third game available on iOS you’re forced to play through on a different platform without any of the choices you made carrying over. Absolutely ridiculous of the studio to choose to release only two of the games when they made it such a continuous experience.

Great game but please make an option that pressing anywhere on screen make you go to the next dialogue sentence. My finger is hurting by pressing middle down center......

The game is very fun and challenging but I can't get through chapter 2 without crashes. Please fix this issue. I know you make amazing games, I just want to enjoy them
  • Nice looking game, but I’m not sold. Aug 28, 2019

This is basically a ‘choose your own adventure’ book with animated graphics, and tactics battles. There is some resource management to be done, but it doesn’t add much of a feel of control or choice. The graphics are really nice, and nicely animated, but the battles are short, the battlefields are small, and as much of the game consists of reading and making dialog choices as battling. The tactical depth of battle almost makes up for the small battlefield, and short battles...almost. All in all, it’s not my cup of tea. I may, or may not finish the story, and I probably wouldn’t mess with the sequel unless it was on sale for a buck.

Criminally short for the price. You can beat this game in just a few hours and the story/graphics are good but not enough to justify the cost when you can buy games with as much content at half the price, or get a port of a console game for the same money. Definetly skipping the second game.

One star because it's seems like a game I would love. Played a little bit but keeps freezing during battle. Reached out to developers. It's been almost two weeks. No reply. Payed $9.99.

Looks like a neat game. Locks up when I get the tutorial to use the horn to give active ally 1 willpower. 4 times already... keeps freezing. Not very far in. And I can't get a refund. 1 star.

Need a refund. Game consistently crashes on my s21 which is more than capable of playing this game. I would love to play the game but the consistent crashes make it impossible to do so.
