  • Easy to navigate Sep 13, 2020

I mostly take L.A. Metro since I’m too lazy to drive , besides L.A. Metro, I take Montebello Bus Lines or Foothill Transit to get to my destination and TAP can easily help me manage money and passes. But now, it is more useful since I can just look at the app to manage the Stored Value instead of checking it at a Bus Station, Metro Rail, or logging in to the TAP website, the app makes it easier and faster for me to check if I have any money left or if I need to buy passes for the month, again, it is fast and easy to navigate One of problem is that I can’t find any of the bus stops for Montebello Bus Lines on the map that they provided, same goes for google maps, I keep having to go on to their website and check when it is arriving, when I could easily look around on one map and see the connections and if I could make it to transfer to the other bus, instead of having to switch apps continuously, hopefully they will fix it My last problem, which isn’t that big of a deal, is the inbound/outbound memo. I can’t tell which direction it is, for example, if the direction says Northbound/Southbound | Eastbound/Westbound, it would make it so much easier to understand Other than these two problems, I have no problem navigating the app

Great app I got TAP card into my Wallet in a couple minutes. Few things: it takes a lot of taps to replenish a TAP card, there is no option for single ride or round trip rides so you have to punch in $1.75 or $3.50, and lastly the app does not remember the last used payment (I use Apple Pay). Other than this I have no further complaints, I’m very happy LA has contactless virtual ticket vending as an option!
  • Great Transit Payment App for LA! Sep 9, 2020

It’s like having a ticket vending machine in your hand. It took me seconds to buy fare and get through the subway gates, while others were still waiting in line at the ticket vending machines. And I love the feature that I don’t have to wake up my phone to tap on any bus or train validator.

Logged into my TAP account and found my registered cards. Couldn’t transfer them to Apple Wallet. What’s the point of having this if it doesn’t work? Please fix this ASAP!

Is this real? How did the city make an app this good? Please, whoever set up the infrastructure for Metro, help out the DMV. The TAP app works flawlessly - buy a tap card, add credit, add it to your iPhone’s wallet - easy peasy, just like it should be!

Still having issues on BigBlueBus, but the drivers have told me it's a transponder issue, and not the app. Therefore, this app deserves a 5-star rating.

You can't add the card to Google Pay :( Please fix this, it'd be far more convenient if it were stored in Android's native mobile wallet. Edit: bruh they're really blaming the app's shortcomings on the placement of the NFC antenna lol 💀. No. You decided to rush the app thinking mobile wallet support wouldn't matter. It does. Integrate Google Pay. That's why the App Store rating is 4 stars and Play Store is 2.

I have an lg stylo 6 with android 10 with nfc unlocked. Im able to load funds on my app easier then google pay, which is a plus. I like the idea of having a transit app, but I just need it to fully work. I have tapped at various blue line "A" stations from Long beach transit center to 7th/metro. I keep getting an error with a loud buzzard sound every time. I can see that other riders are observing me doing this and they can see that it doesn't work.

Does not work on Montebello bus lines. It's a good idea but poorly executed roll out. It's cost me more in time than It's worth. 4/29/21 I've tried it twice . 1st time it did not work and montebello driver told me it wasn't working for a lot of people trying it. So I had to get a new card and get my balance transferred over to new card since I couldn't use my old card any longer. I waited two weeks and tried again with same results no card found. Again I had to get a new card again.
  • Ridiculous T&C to ride a train. Nov 16, 2020

    By radvas
Shiva in Japan. Simple. Pay and ride. TAP in Los Angeles... 30 chapters of terms and conditions that can be updated at any time, and a privacy policy that collects heaps of PII about you can’t even review In the T&C, you gotta go find it on the web site. And guess what, can be updated at any time without notice. I am in full control of the PII they have on me, but maybe for a few according to the privacy statement. Now then, if you got this far and think I’m over-reacting and any material risk is low, remember that all of this is just to use an app for the TAP card I already have. No thanks.

Terrible experience. App said it was offline and then when it reconnected the funds I had stored in the app are now not available. Too much hassle. Dont waste your time. Stick with the plastic card, more reliable.

App is useless, not user intuitive, no relevant error information, help ticket form is not auto populating.... I could design a better app. 2 hrs later funds still not transferred to app. Pura basura! Opened a help ticket.... The resolution was less than satisfactory as it wasn't resolved and the app stopped working.
  • Add support for older iPhones. Sep 20, 2020

    By @JT98
If the Tap cards have to go in the Apple wallet, there is no reason why it should only be for iPhone 8 or higher. Older iPhones have NFC. If so can tap my phone to pay for a frappe at Starbucks, I should be able to tap to pay to get on the bus period. If it’s using wireless charging to tap, make support so we can use NFC to pull the wallet app out, pull the tap card from Apple wallet and scan. It’s simple. Uninstalling till that unfairness is resolved.

No matter what I do the app shows me "offline" and won't let me add money to my card. I even uninstalled and now it won't let me log in because I'm supposedly offline. So now I have no valid tap card on me to ride home.

  • Good start... Sep 11, 2020

    By Feefer2
I haven’t tried it on a bus yet, since we’re still in the pandemic so no need to tap. First impression though, is what the heck is up with the “inbound/outbound” nonsense on the route map? Inbound or outbound from where? Since buses on my line stop on both sides of the street, how am I supposed to know which is which? Why not just do what every other bus map app does (including METRO’s own official printed paper timetables available for free on buses), and use directional compass indicators (ie northbound/southbound)? Other than that, it’s off to a good start.
  • Needs support for iPhone SE Sep 3, 2020

I tried adding my TAP card into my wallet, but the button for that is not found. I looked at the FAQ, it said it only works with iPhone 8, but apple says Express Transit works with iPhone SE and above. Hope you can add that in the future.
