Interesting..
A really great app. I got the app from a message T-Mobile sent me and I downloaded this. I get less scan calls now. Of course I still get a few, but nothing is perfect right? It’s a nice add-on to my current T-Mobile network. It blocked some of my friends, but I can just favorite them and they don’t get blocked. I love the fact T-Mobile sent me a message saying, “Download Scam shield from T-Mobile.” We did not have to wait and randomly find it. Overall great scam killer. Be fore the calls got annoying. So I got an annoying voicemail greeting. Blocked real people but not scam bots. My missed calls feed got spammed with calls. This app changed all that. Much less scam calls. Just so you know, THIS IS A SERVICE OFFERED BY T-MOBILE. ITS MOST LIKELY NOT GOING TO BE PERFECT. Thanks for reading this long review -
Edit: The send to voicemail feature doesn't work. It should send suspected calls directly to voicemail. Instead it just let's it ring, basically letting the calls through. When that's off, the scam block works. It may block good numbers, but it warns of that Edit: T-Mobile's response is useless. I know how and did enable the direct to voicemail feature. That feature breaks scam shield.

VERY effective. Needs tweaking/enhancements
The overall “Scam Block” is generally all-or-nothing. I’d prefer to choose what to do with ALL “blocked” calls I.E. “send to voicemail” - like the separate category manager. With Scam Block ON, all you get is “Activity “ and the phone # that was blocked. Ok, but it’s too heavy-handed for me ATM. (TMI, I’m job hunting & 1 known caller showed up as likely scam/telemarketing in another like app - I can’t risk such a call being outright *blocked*, at a minimum need to send to voicemail). Looking up callerID: no way to even copy/paste the number. A single button would be better. The few I’ve manually looked up had no information). One I just called back: it was Theresa, obviously a private number & should likely have a callerID. Ability to “Favorites”, “Block”, and “ Send to VM” is good but a little tedious to implement if not in your contacts or recents. Texts do not appear to choose from. If you START that process with any contact or recent open, it immediately adds it to the action you choose- a bit unexpected but I can see how they’re trying to make that easy. -
When it works, it works good.
Lots of talk about being able to block calls but the BLOCK feature seems to not work occasionally. You can select BLOCK on a number and the block button will light up; however, when you return to the number in the ACTIVITY list, the number you just blocked is unblocked again. Therefore, the 4-star rating I am giving applies to the app when it is working properly. This situation has happened several times over the period year-long period I’ve used the app so the failure is temporary. When the failure situation is happening - like it is at the time of this writing - this app deserves maybe 2 stars. The reason I’ll give it two stars is because it still blocks known or suspected scammer numbers that are preemptively blocked by the app. If the app already knows them, they get blocked...but those only amount to about 20 percent of the scammer calls I receive. -
Improvements needed
Great start for giving consumers control over there phone calls however i think you can do even more. I would like to have this expanded to text messages as well. Also I would like to have it where the system can identify where the call originated from or where the call is regastered to like where the person lives. Also add a report option to report that the a call was categorized incorrectly or the caller id info is wrong. This way theses issues are fixed and new calls made by that phone number would show up correctly to other users. Also add a option to record phone calls for calls that come in that are not on my contacts list. This way if a call is spam legal authorities would have something to use agenst thesss people to put a stop to unwanted calls. Needs to be expanded to include text messages as well

Finally I have peace
About a year ago my number got sold to some companies that would call me 3-6 times a day. I just put up with sending them to voicemail because I didn’t want to have to change my number. I switched to T-mobile, got premium Scam Blocker and this was one of the first things I set up. It took 2 days for it to learn which calls to block and it’s been wonderful. The peace of not getting woken up at 7 am on my day off due to a scam call, and not having random numbers blowing up my phone is worth a lot more than I thought. -
Excellent app and service finally scam blocking done right
40 scam calls blocked in the last 30 days. Yes please and thank you. My time is valuable to me and getting distracted by random phone calls is the worst. It’s one thing if it’s a political survey as I do not mind those. Makes my phone usable and easy to live with. So far I have not had an issue with people that need to get ahold of me can always get through without issue. Thank you T-Mobile and the company behind this software technology. Keep it up and keep improving! -
Works great. It is very pleasing not receiving all the spam calls anymore. Definitely recommend that you atleast take this app for a test drive and try out the free 30 day trial. Plus the reverse number look up feature is amazing. And so is the feature that unblocks and shows you the phone number and the callers name when they have called you from a unknown or blocked number.

I can finally answer my phone again!
Somehow or another, my phone number ended up in the hands of a bunch of scam callers. Not the worst thing in the world, but pretty annoying. I ended up having to just block all calls from unknown numbers (10+ a day at times). With this app turned on, however, I haven't received a single scam call yet. Although it's UI leaves a bit to be desired, it's the most effective I've seen. This gets a rare 5 stars from me, and keep up the good work TMobile!

Doesn’t seem to do everything it is supposed to
The app has bugs in it. Sometimes it blocks things that shouldn’t be blocked, and while it says it provides the user with unlimited reverse number lookup, there is no option to do so. It would be more accurate to say that it identifies unknown numbers, using some kind of reverse directory in an automated fashion. But it does not work all the time, and many, if not a majority, of the blocked/restricted calls still have no caller ID. It has blocked calls from people in my contacts that I never set to have been blocked, prevents me from getting important texts from my pharmacy, and calls from companies I do business with. While a great in principle, too much is automated, with not enough options for the user to customize their own settings -
Kudos to T-Mobile for actually doing something about spam calls. However, I'm deducting a star because the app resets itself every few days and I've been experiencing this problem for months now. While it will continue to block calls, i won't get notifications or anything until I setup the app again.

All or nothing? Why can't I send likely scam calls to voice mail, just in case it's a false positive? I have to block them, and potentially miss important calls, or allow them. That's dumb. The reality useful features require a paid subscription. This means that T-mobile has monetized scam calls and thus have a definite profit motive to ensure that scam calls continue so us subscribers will pay to be protected. This is wrong.

Used to be good
Had to delete app as it no longer worked. It required that my WiFi be turned off and have at least 2 bars. That doesn’t work well when you don’t have sufficient coverage/service (usually 1 bar both at home and work which are 45 miles apart) and depend on a wifi connection to another internet provider to be able to use your phone. I’ve reached out several times inquiring on when T-Mobile was going to improve their service strength was keep getting told it has been upgraded and should see considerable improvement by month end. That was in June 2019, November 2019, and last was July 2020, I gave up since it appears to have been false information. -
Does block spam, but T-Mobile charges for some features
Update: okay, three stars. It is automatically blocking some spam calls, but that’s just it, I can’t manually block those spam calls (that do get through) from the Activity tab - it is grayed out. Only Magenta Plus customers get these features at no additional charge? It’s a shame this is advertised as a real call blocking app, but the more useful features cost Essential and Magenta customers $4/month, per line. It’s the carriers responsibility to control these calls. Instead they want to charge the customer more, so you can actually use the service you pay for. -
Good service bad app
The nameID service by itself works great. It identifies spam calls at the network level and blocks them. If you choose Premium service you also get to select various options like blocking nuisance calls, blocking telemarketing calls etc. however, as I previously said, Service works at the network level. The app by itself does nothing. It doesn’t use the Apple call kit and doesn't integrate with the stock iPhone dialer. But I must admit that it's not an issue. You still see the caller name and calls get blocked or sent to voicemail directly. But they could have just integrated the nameID option in the mail TMobile app and not have needed the nameID app at all.
