  • VERY effective. Needs tweaking/enhancements Sep 8, 2020

The overall “Scam Block” is generally all-or-nothing. I’d prefer to choose what to do with ALL “blocked” calls I.E. “send to voicemail” - like the separate category manager. With Scam Block ON, all you get is “Activity “ and the phone # that was blocked. Ok, but it’s too heavy-handed for me ATM. (TMI, I’m job hunting & 1 known caller showed up as likely scam/telemarketing in another like app - I can’t risk such a call being outright *blocked*, at a minimum need to send to voicemail). Looking up callerID: no way to even copy/paste the number. A single button would be better. The few I’ve manually looked up had no information). One I just called back: it was Theresa, obviously a private number & should likely have a callerID. Ability to “Favorites”, “Block”, and “ Send to VM” is good but a little tedious to implement if not in your contacts or recents. Texts do not appear to choose from. If you START that process with any contact or recent open, it immediately adds it to the action you choose- a bit unexpected but I can see how they’re trying to make that easy.

  • When it works, it works good. Dec 29, 2020

Lots of talk about being able to block calls but the BLOCK feature seems to not work occasionally. You can select BLOCK on a number and the block button will light up; however, when you return to the number in the ACTIVITY list, the number you just blocked is unblocked again. Therefore, the 4-star rating I am giving applies to the app when it is working properly. This situation has happened several times over the period year-long period I’ve used the app so the failure is temporary. When the failure situation is happening - like it is at the time of this writing - this app deserves maybe 2 stars. The reason I’ll give it two stars is because it still blocks known or suspected scammer numbers that are preemptively blocked by the app. If the app already knows them, they get blocked...but those only amount to about 20 percent of the scammer calls I receive.

Great start for giving consumers control over there phone calls however i think you can do even more. I would like to have this expanded to text messages as well. Also I would like to have it where the system can identify where the call originated from or where the call is regastered to like where the person lives. Also add a report option to report that the a call was categorized incorrectly or the caller id info is wrong. This way theses issues are fixed and new calls made by that phone number would show up correctly to other users. Also add a option to record phone calls for calls that come in that are not on my contacts list. This way if a call is spam legal authorities would have something to use agenst thesss people to put a stop to unwanted calls. Needs to be expanded to include text messages as well

About a year ago my number got sold to some companies that would call me 3-6 times a day. I just put up with sending them to voicemail because I didn’t want to have to change my number. I switched to T-mobile, got premium Scam Blocker and this was one of the first things I set up. It took 2 days for it to learn which calls to block and it’s been wonderful. The peace of not getting woken up at 7 am on my day off due to a scam call, and not having random numbers blowing up my phone is worth a lot more than I thought.

The app has bugs in it. Sometimes it blocks things that shouldn’t be blocked, and while it says it provides the user with unlimited reverse number lookup, there is no option to do so. It would be more accurate to say that it identifies unknown numbers, using some kind of reverse directory in an automated fashion. But it does not work all the time, and many, if not a majority, of the blocked/restricted calls still have no caller ID. It has blocked calls from people in my contacts that I never set to have been blocked, prevents me from getting important texts from my pharmacy, and calls from companies I do business with. While a great in principle, too much is automated, with not enough options for the user to customize their own settings

One of the things that led me to switch to T-Mobile was their claim of providing comprehensive spam call mgmt as part of the package. Well, that is a partial truth. What they don't reveal is that the free app barely provided the basics. It blocks very little. If you want the solution you thought you were getting them you need to shell out an additional 20-25% per line. So much for being the no hidden fees carrier

Not much of a fan. It says the app is able to complete a reverse lookup, but I have never been able to use that feature, it continues to say, "We are unable to locate additional info?" so I am confused b/c I have used reverse lookup for work (even in white pages b4) and this is not the definition. Also, if you accidentally block a # when viewing it, there is no way to reverse it (or one that shouldn't have been blocked). Either I don't understand the features of the product of it does not perform as described

They offer basic and premium for an additional amount. This service should be free for the amount of money I already pay for their cellular service. I am half tempted to drop t-mobile like a bad habit and go with a much preferred carrier that better handles this situation. I get dozens of calls everyday and don't even get started with the spam texts that should be automatically blocked as well. I have to manually block the text and yet they keep pouring in.

I'm changing my review, because T-Mobile doesn't seem to understand. This app is horrible. I use my phone for business. Several scam calls still get through. Several calls from legitimate callers are blocked as a scam. In fact about half of my clients (all are just random local citizens, mostly elderly) are either blocked or listed as "scam likely". This app is not worth getting. The Sprint version worked good. But unfortunately I can't use it anymore since the merger with T-Mobile.

40 scam calls blocked in the last 30 days. Yes please and thank you. My time is valuable to me and getting distracted by random phone calls is the worst. It’s one thing if it’s a political survey as I do not mind those. Makes my phone usable and easy to live with. So far I have not had an issue with people that need to get ahold of me can always get through without issue. Thank you T-Mobile and the company behind this software technology. Keep it up and keep improving!

I always figured the spam people create companies to block their own calls so they can get free money but this actually eliminated 90% of the spam and scams I got. Sadly with my work I had to stop using this since I work at a call center, and I noticed a HUGE difference. I used to get at least 5-10 spam calls a day and it only became one or two. However once I had to stop using this app the calls came piling in again. Definitely works!

Somehow or another, my phone number ended up in the hands of a bunch of scam callers. Not the worst thing in the world, but pretty annoying. I ended up having to just block all calls from unknown numbers (10+ a day at times). With this app turned on, however, I haven't received a single scam call yet. Although it's UI leaves a bit to be desired, it's the most effective I've seen. This gets a rare 5 stars from me, and keep up the good work TMobile!

If you take a few moments to learn about and use the features available with this app, they work extremely well. Because of the features available in the premium version of this app, the number of scam and telemarking calls to my phone number are down 100% and that makes me very happy because I had been receiving approximately 10-15 of these unwanted calls every single day. Great job T-Mobile. Please keep it up.

  • Works well; Spotty caller ID Aug 30, 2020

    By Reznil0
I used to use iOS’s feature to reject calls from numbers not in my contact list. That kept the daily spam calls away, but it meant I had to check my voicemail for legitimate calls from non-contacts. This app changes that. It blocks the spam calls while letting legitimate calls through. I tried it by disabling iOS’s feature to reject unknown numbers. In the last week I’ve gotten no spam calls. I’ve strongly urged my family to install this app. Why did I dock a star? The caller ID is iffy. A call from my mortgage lender came through as “Big Daddy Enesi.” Another call erroneously was tagged from “College Prk Lck.” Perhaps T-mobile isn’t responsible; it might rely on other companies’ directories. Overall, I’m impressed with T-mo’s commitment to reducing spam. They do a better job than Verizon in my experience (I have VZW for my work phone.) Keeps me a happy customer.

Had to delete app as it no longer worked. It required that my WiFi be turned off and have at least 2 bars. That doesn’t work well when you don’t have sufficient coverage/service (usually 1 bar both at home and work which are 45 miles apart) and depend on a wifi connection to another internet provider to be able to use your phone. I’ve reached out several times inquiring on when T-Mobile was going to improve their service strength was keep getting told it has been upgraded and should see considerable improvement by month end. That was in June 2019, November 2019, and last was July 2020, I gave up since it appears to have been false information.

  • Does block spam, but T-Mobile charges for some features Oct 14, 2020

Update: okay, three stars. It is automatically blocking some spam calls, but that’s just it, I can’t manually block those spam calls (that do get through) from the Activity tab - it is grayed out. Only Magenta Plus customers get these features at no additional charge? It’s a shame this is advertised as a real call blocking app, but the more useful features cost Essential and Magenta customers $4/month, per line. It’s the carriers responsibility to control these calls. Instead they want to charge the customer more, so you can actually use the service you pay for.

Good, but would really like to see this block SMS as well since that is increasingly the way that spammers are contacting me. Also agree with many others on the point that this should not have premium features for a fee, and should be included with service.

The nameID service by itself works great. It identifies spam calls at the network level and blocks them. If you choose Premium service you also get to select various options like blocking nuisance calls, blocking telemarketing calls etc. however, as I previously said, Service works at the network level. The app by itself does nothing. It doesn’t use the Apple call kit and doesn't integrate with the stock iPhone dialer. But I must admit that it's not an issue. You still see the caller name and calls get blocked or sent to voicemail directly. But they could have just integrated the nameID option in the mail TMobile app and not have needed the nameID app at all.

It does tell me whether if the call is a regular call or a scam. But since i don't have a plan T-Mobile said they are not going to block, these ignoring calls and text that start from 8 am to 10 pm. So this app gets a 2.47 stars. But ain't i also part of T-Mobile, i do pay my bill to have service. But I am having to go elsewhere for a piece of mind. 7726 is not blocking the annoying scam calls and text messages.

Love the app, but Im mad that it now cost for the features I had that were included on the call screener app with sprint. Once I switched my sim card in store, I no longer have to the other app. What was once free on the sprint app and network now cost $4 a month on the tmobile network. So disappointing, didn’t this conglomerate of a company make enough money from the merger of the two cell companies and provide better service and have happier customers. Update: Thanks for the prompt response, however your response is untrue in the facts. You can’t use any of those options you mentioned without first having to subscribe to the “premium“ service. Which those same options were free to use with the “Call Screener” app on the sprint network. Had I known this I would’ve never switched out my sim card.

All or nothing? Why can't I send likely scam calls to voice mail by default, just in case it's a false positive? I have to block them, and potentially miss important calls, or allow them. That's dumb. Why can't I report a false positive? The reality useful features require a paid subscription. This means that T-mobile has monetized scam calls and thus have a definite profit motive to ensure that scam calls continue so us subscribers will pay to be protected. This is wrong.

I reported an issue few weeks ago, had not heard from their support team. First it ask for access to your contact list to then block people that are on there, even on favorites. Also for some reason it does not filter all calls, or at least not all calls are present our call list - I’m unable to report spam if the call is not in the incoming call list (I’m using the free version). I recently moved from AT&T and I never had any issue with this two things. On top of this I’m getting calls from spammers, more than ever, something that did not happened with AT&T. Sorry to compare but the difference is huge. Also, been unable to block call I’m the free version it makes this app useless for me, since I’m unable to block spammers that call me multiple times per week and this app failed to recognize as spam. In short: at least the free version is useless. I hope that support can respond my emails.... eventually

Worthless...EVERY call gets blocked, including my everyday calls in my contact list. Even the other line on my TMO package is blocked. Reverse lookup fails..even when I know the reverse record exists. I just ported over from Sprint and NOT impressed with app or TMO support - who suggested I pay for the upgrade to avoid this "inconvenience". Even the free google phone app is far more trustworthy then this app. TMO *you* can contact me if you want more info

Stop the annoying pop-up asking if I want to enable notifications everytime I block a number. I don't. Perhaps that's why I have notifications turned off. If I did want them I would have enabled notifications one of the last fifty times it asked. No I don't need to speak to you for you to understand my issue. Try using your app to block several people and then notice the annoying pop-up asking if your sure you don't want to be notified. App also appears to go to sleep and let calls through.
