This app is great, especially for camping trips or beach weekends when the stars look really nice. I’ve been trying to teach myself to identify constellations for the last few years, and this app has helped a ton. Looking at the stars is so much more fun when you know what they are! The only problem I’ve ever run into is the automatic location service/orientation messes up in areas I have bad signal, but it’s easy to fix with the manual world map. I’ve had many memorable nights laying on the ground with friends enjoying the beauty of the cosmos because of this app!

I absolutely love this app. I rarely purchase apps except when I really like them and I feel the publisher has done an exceptional job. This is the case of star tracker. I would equate it easily to street view from Google except in the sky. Good job, guys!

I love this app! it puts the universe in perspective for people who don't know what they're looking at or looking for. My young nephew is enthralled with the app, the night sky is now a wonderful mystery - that's a hard won feat with a Jr higher! And my grandbabies listen to "stars music" while they look at the pretty pictures and listen to stories. I'm guiding their first steps into mythology, science, math, history, art and music all by way of the stars like their great grandfather did with me

When our young one saw it on, we were headed home. She asked what is that, we told her . This is star tracker, can I look at it. The rest of the ride home was question of what’s this, and what can I find for you. I tried to explain the stars in Orion’s Belt, that they were twenty times the size of our sun. She needed time to think of about that, needless to say she loved it. Thank you for the help, I hope our little one stick with it!. Thanks again!, J T .

The position where stars are located are amazingly accurate, still getting new with the night sky and this is totally awesome, one of the apps I most use with my telescope... well.... you already know it!

I had a prior night sky app. But it required WiFi and was a pain to use. Calibration was “iffy” and identifications were guesstimates. This app is fast and easy to calibrate, does not depend on WiFi, and show the sky with good accuracy. The planets are displayed far oversized, and shows the planet as observed in a telescope. But this helps you distinguish them from the stars, and they are shown in proper position in the night sky. I’m very happy with this app.

It is an awesome app and it has really opened my eyes to the sky around me. The only improvement I'd like to see is the accuracy from my phone to whatever I'm pointing it at like the moon for example.

What a fun app! You can even point down and see what’s on the other side of the globe. I love the colors. I even look at it during the daytime. And I never knew the names of some of the smaller constellations at all. I just moved to Central Oregon and you can see the stars every single night so it’s particularly fun for me out here.

My kids and I love using the app to see the stars, and I love showing them all the constellations I know, then checking the app so they can see if I was right or not! Lol great for what it is! Just wish is offered a little more!

Just realized my star tracker app doesn’t run anymore so I checked App Store and found this “lite” version. It’s roughly the same but does not allow for filters/ customization of what appears. This was a really nice feature to remove clutter and look for specific things. Doesn’t seem like a full version exists anymore/ is supported which is disappointing. While old app was superior and still free, this one is still a decent one to have for casual star gazers.

It used to be great but now it constantly drifts no matter how many times you calibrate the compass. I have even tried on different phones with the same result. Now it is pretty much useless.
  • What a piece of crap! Aug 12, 2020

Had this on my phone for several years and it worked pretty well. Then they focused on advertising on the Lite version. Nothing worked. You could point anywhere in the sky and it never oriented correctly. Deleted it a year or so ago. Hoped for the best and downloaded it again. Works even less now. Before it at least tried to orient but was never right. Now the view doesn’t move unless you move it manually. Too bad. They took a good app and broke it. Will delete again and never try it again.

I thought if I pointed to the sky I would be shown those same stars, but they would be identified. Also, I get a message but don't see how to get what the message is telling me. Settings don't help me.

This used to be my absolutely favorite app. When you used it, it utilized your camera so that you were looking at your actual surroundings. It was an overlay so you could actually see where things were. Now it's a hot mess. Don't get me wrong, it's cool looking in it's own way, but just completely useless and busy.

It was great at first. Paid for all the extras. And now, it won't track the sky when I move my phone. Even the compass doesn't work. How do I unsubsidized to this app and stop paying my money to?

Terrible app if using the free version. Location will not set even when doing so manually. Their survey doesn’t work you can’t get past the language question and then it timed out and NO RESTORE working at all. Not sure how this would be getting good reviews at all. It’s completely unusable and there are far better apps out there that don’t want to jack you for money to be usable. Steer clear of this one it’s hit the delete pile for us

I have been watching the sky for a long time, having an app that can quickly locate all my favorite POI's is awesome. Wish it had more features available with the free version but I get it.

Great app for just checking in while checking out what's happening up there in the night sky. Great for a quick reference to get your bearings while traveling & being under a "new" sky or for taking a deeper look into what's shining above your own backyard. The night sky is the greatest show on earth & this app lists the cast.

This has got to be the nearest thing I have ever used, this should be used to teach kids about the stars and etc.. As a kid I would have understood what the little dipper was when people tried to show me and teach me about it. Honestly I wasn't able to even see the dippers until I was much older. This app is out of this universe!!!!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this app. Unfortunately it no longer works with my older iPad. It does work with my newer iPhone, however, the screen size of my iPad is much more useful. This new version tries to open then disappears. Double clicking on my home button shows it in the background offering me the option to upgrade to add free. When I tap on the screen it closes.

Enjoy! Best ft. notifications of celestial events to view. When and Where to look in the sky. Orient (move to align) your device to your location, to see current bodies. Highlights constellations. Views match sunset, dusk, night, sunrise. (Day Moon match but celestials are not all visible to the naked eye, during the day.) Moving your device shows other stars that are out of your range. If you ever wondered if that twinkle was a star, planet or something else? This could help you out.

I love the app. It fills me with wonder for our Creator. The only negative thing is that it has almost too much information which can make things confusing when you look up and try to put it all together. However if nothing ever changes about the app, I am very grateful for it. Thank you. You clearly don’t want to hear any reviews

I like it. The GPS or whatever needs calibrating pretty often. I'll hold on something say the Moon and slowly the Moon moves out of frame. I dont know maybe my phone is obsolete. Haha

This app has helped me locate celestial bodies to view through my scopes with ease, even as an amateur. However there are some bits that the app does not explain.

  • Magnetic North vs true north May 14, 2020

    By Tinalo3
Needs to be updated for magnetic north and true north. Magnetic north has shifted. The apps compass has compensated for this, but in relation to true north it makes the app inaccurate. I love the app otherwise. But it is VERY frustrating right now when I cannot point at the object I’m looking to identify and actually identify it because the app is telling me I’m looking West, when in all reality I’m looking North. If you know what I mean??
