Not sure how so many people say this is the best star-gazing app they have ever tired. Then they say they love the music, so maybe that explains it. I've tried them all extensively, and this one is the most unintuitive mess of them all. Even after turning off all the nonsense that is on by default, the grid doesn't even have a basic North, East, South, West on it to confirm any sort of orientation. Believe me, there are much, much better options available on Android.

Edit 3/3/2020: Uninstalling. No improvement from my previous review in 2018. This app tracks nothing. You have to know what you're pointing your phone at because the app doesn't track. If there's no moon you may as well look up wearing a blindfold! You have to have an idea of where the stars/planets are you want to look at. It doesn't stay positioned correctly from one use to the next.

more lessLast night I realized that the placement of some objects is way off. As an example, M71 is depicted between the feet of Gemini. In reality, M71 is a loose globular cluster in the constellation Sagitta. It’s positioning in this app is nearly 180 degrees off. Gemini is a winter constellation, and Sagitta is a summer constellation close to Cygnus.

I haven't been able to use this app in years without the compass being completely incorrect and having severe drifting. I let it go for years because my phone was very old. But now I have a top of the line Google Pixel 6 Pro. It just came out. Same exact issues. North was a solid 90+ degrees off and when I held it in the sky without moving, the screen just constantly drifts, like I'm spinning around in circles. So it did this to me on 2 phones, so I'm guessing it's not my fault.

In reality, M71 is a loose globular cluster in the constellation Sagitta. It’s positioning in this app is nearly 180 degrees off. Gemini is a winter constellation, and Sagitta is a summer constellation close to Cygnus.

Problems on an iPad 2 with iOS 8 with latest version
more lessThe compass will not work if you manually set the location when off line. Since I have WiFi only, this is a definite problem.

The graphics are great. The GPS/compass is accurate. The downside of this application is that it notifies of cool astrological events in your area but when you check the notification to see what you're supposed to be looking at it takes you to the map and you never get a chance to read the full message unless you pay for the app. Also, you can't search for anything specific. Basically, you point at what you're curious about and it tells you. That's all.

Extremely bright and flashy. Not good for trying to see stars in the dark. Also very hard to bring up the settings menu. Have to tap many times for it to come up. It did show the stars and everything but the map is so zoomed in that it is hard to navigate. There are other apps that actually show info on objects and have navigable maps, this one ain't it.
