  • Super cool game Aug 7, 2020

I’m still figuring out how it all works, but wow, it’s super cool and so well designed. I also appreciate the great price with no ads or IAPs. I happily support good developers like this. Thank you for a unique game that’s really well done!

This is a fantastic, innovative match 3 that really mixes things up and adds a lot of depth to the genre, while at the same time doing a really good job of explaining the mechanics. Because it's not free to play there aren't any cynical mechanics to get you to buy power ups, just good clean puzzling fun. The challenge seems to ramp up nicely too, I'm only just past the tutorial levels and already having to think a couple of moves ahead. Looking forward to completing the whole thing!
  • Great game, 1 deadly flaw Aug 4, 2021

    By Juankage
The game is super engaging and you can actually deckbuild decently. One flaw: you can get stuck under a bug and without being able to move gems, you can’t take any actions or end your turn. Unless I’m missing something, you can’t proceed if you get stuck in this predicament. I’m on the boss in a super dominating run and this game breaking flaw happened. I doubt it’s intentional, please let us be able to end our turn

I don't usually review games/apps, but this one was recommended by some tech website about a month ago, and I bought it on a whim right before a 4 hour flight. Best few dollars I've ever spent on a game. Its far more challenging and interesting than other similar games of the surgery viriety. Instead of just swapping tiles, you need to line them up from the bottom manipulating them with your character and defeating enemies along the way. No ads or in app purchases required. Keep it up Devs! 👍
  • Well designed, but missing something Aug 18, 2020

I played through the storyline 2 or 3 times before not picking it up again. For me the enjoyment of roguelikes are their mediocre to brutal difficulty — but through my 2/3 playthroughs I didn’t lose a single time. This in combination with the occasional feeling of luck-based frustration made me enjoy the game for its price, but ultimately don’t see myself enjoying it long term.

I initially got this because the developers made it free right when the pandemic hit. I'm so glad I tried it; it really is a delightful, challenging game, with a play mechanic that's a nice twist on the classic Match-3. I have wiled away hours upon hours squashing bugs, in order to achieve the Starbeard rank for all my characters. But, now that I've done that - now what? I hope there are new challenges coming soon.

No freemium ad driven gameplay here. Just a fun puzzle game. My only complaint is I played through all the content in 3 days and wish there more :)

Really fun little roguelike puzzle. I'm enjoying playthroughs with all of the characters I'm unlocking as I go. I'm thankful for the business model. The $3 was totally worth it to get the whole game and play at my pace instead of some awful F2P model that makes the game as unpleasant as possible after an hour if you don't keep forking over money. This is the right way to do a mobile game. A+.

Just narrowly edged out the hornet on Mars, and I am finding it quite an engaging title. Looking forward to seeing more from this developer!

Game's quite good for a mobile one. There are some flaws though, like being unable to make any move (no energy to use powers, screen filled, bugs took over control, character stuck, etc) and there's no way to skip those required moves even if in a desperate manner no to have to hit "end of journey", which is quite frustrating because of bad design .

Initial review: Solid puzzle game with no overhead. 5 stars. New review: Now it locks up on character selection on Galaxy S7. Looks like Xmas was the last update, assume unsupported going forward. Moved to 1 star on account of breakage.

Starbeard is an engrossing and visually appealing game that plays well and has a great scope of growth whilst offering a decent challenge. The puzzle as a whole feels fresh and unique, yet intituitive - easy to learn, challenging to master if considering certain play styles. The characters are colourful, beautifully imagined and diversely designed and the music reflects the fantasy genre and fits the story well. A cute, fun and quick to pick up game that I'll definitely keep playing. :)

Starbeard is an strategic puzzle game that is great fun! While you're trying to solve the puzzles you're also conquering enemies in the playing field. The trick is to find the most efficient way to be victorious. The game is well thought out and designed beautifully. ! Warning, Starbeard is very addictive!

Cool nice approach to match 3 battler. Since there are only 3 turns, and swiping could be mistakenly made, which get you into critical situations, undo would be great add.
