  • Finally my son wants to learn note names! Nov 15, 2019

    By ERSeligma
Gone are the groans when I ask my 6yo to practice note names! He loves this game and is improving his note recognition. Works great on all my iOS devices, except I can’t get it to close on my iPhone X. It doesn’t respond to swiping up from anywhere on the screen. I end up having to reboot the phone. Is there something I’m missing or is this something that needs to be fixed in the next version?

I love this app! I'm still learning to read music and this really helps me to practise, in a fun way. The app did have a problem with start up, but when I sent them an email, they were amazing about it, and fixed it within a week. Their support was amazing, and they even sent back an email to ask if it had worked. I just wished they made more apps!
  • Indispensable for experienced musicians who never learned to read Sep 15, 2020

I downloaded this after a teacher at a conservatory recommended it to our class piano class and I have it to thank for jumpstarting my sight reading ability. It’s not a replacement for reading and playing actual music, but made it so I could practice anywhere at the drop of a hat, and really helped get me up to speed. If I could make one suggestion to the developers, include playback of the actual pitches as you input your answers, that will help students develop their relative pitch, and will make it all around a more musical experience.

So far an amazing tool! Thank you! To make it five stars in my opinion, would be to add an option to here each note (preferably from a piano) when played correctly. That way you would be practicing your ear as well! Would love to see that one day!
  • Wonderful teaching tool! May 15, 2019

I love this game! I have all my students buy it to help with their note reading. I especially love that tenor clef was recently added. The only thing it’s missing now is a setting to combine some or all of the clefs in one game to practice switching between them in real time (like for advanced cellists who have to read bass, tenor and treble clef fluidly; or violists who frequently switch between alto and treble clef). Maybe make this upgrade at some point in the future? I would even pay a higher price for a “Pro” version that has this feature. In any case, thanks to the developers for the awesome app!

Fun and helpful for a violinist who dabbles with occasional viola parts. I wish notes on ledger lines came while it is still slow so I could get used to what they look like.

I just purchased this last week. My students love it! I’ve used other note reading apps too, but this has rave reviews PLUS my students who use it in band and orchestra at school have mentioned how much they love beating top scores. Craig also gives prompt and helpful support as the developer. I’m definitely recommending to other teachers.

It is actually a really fun game. I bought it for distance learning and it is definitely worth it. You can change the range of the notes to your skill and every time you level up mid game it adds something to the music and speeds up.

Love this app! Use it all the time with my students. They enjoy competing against each other for the high score. The developer is great as well and is very responsive to feedback.

I tried to download it on my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G Android and it didn't work. I did get my refund back. I suppose it's not for Android Phones.

There is a different version of this that works with the mic to detect your playing. this version does NOT have that capability and does the same function as other free note reading apps.

I don't get it. The iPhone version allows people to play on their instruments directly into the app. That's what I bought this for. Why can't you do it on the android version? This is useless to me.

  • Why have two apps? Dec 14, 2017

    By hippeelee
I downloaded staff wars, my daughter needed staff wars live. Wat? What sane engineer has two apps named the same thing that do slightly different things? Put a tab view controller in your app and drop both apps functionality into each one. Easier to maintain, easier to publish and you customer won’t hate you b/c they bought the wrong app. This is when it would be nice if digital goods were more like the real world ... returnable. Rating this 1 because it’s misleading.

  • Not what I thought it was Jul 7, 2016

    By Alisha2.0
My music teacher showed us this on his computer. He demonstrated it on his clarinet. A note would appear on the screen and he would play it and win. I downloaded it on my iPhone and (it was 99 cents by the way) and it only lets you tap the notes not play them. It wasn't what I thought it was.
  • Good app, but not what I was expecting. Feb 18, 2016

    By (--Kaleb--)
Today, my band teacher showed us the app, and demonstrated how it hones your note accuracy. He used his clarinet with it, and played the notes it showed. The problem is, I can't do that. All it allows me to do is click the notes, but I was expecting to be able to play the notes with my saxophone.
  • Needs actual keyboard May 5, 2015

    By DJ BJ
This is a fantastic app, BUT why isn't there an option for an image of an actual keyboard instead of just the letter names? Hell, you could have a fretboard option. This app has great potential as a handy teaching tool for young students.
