My favorite board game on tablet. Great port. I have all the handelabra games and enjoy them. Back to 5 stars for fixing the offline issue. One of the hardest parts of playing the physical boardgame is making sure your powers are allowed to target certain lands and special rules for scenarios and adversaries. It's wonderful having the app taking care of all that for me.

I have never played this board game but heard they were porting this into a solo digital app, so I got it as soon as I saw it pop up. Tutorial is fantastically smooth, and gives enough information at the right time so as to not overwhelm new players. I also like that they give some strategy reasoning in the tutorial as well. Sounds, UI and overall game flow is smooth and the gameplay is seriously fun. Thank you to the entire team for the work you all put into this!

I have the board game with all its expansions (plus the broken token's organizer and crate) and it's just the best cooperative game I've played ever. Worth the price but not if you have already paid for the physical version I guess

One of the best board games to date, and this implementation of it is great! Only (obvious) comment: please add multiplayer!

Seems like a good app. It is a great game but is overpriced compared to other similar style games. Not a good value in the digital space.

I was excited to see this great cooperative board game become an app. But having played the tutorial, I now see that it’s 1-4 Spirits, NOT 1-4 players. Hardly a cooperative game when it’s solo. It really needs the ability to play online with others.

UPDATED: Five star game without question, and now with phone support. Pricey, especially for the people that already paid full price when it was PC only.

  • 3 bugs in 3 games. Poor testing Jun 3, 2021

    By Tranenturm
So by game three I’ve identified three bugs. The defend 3 special ability for Vital Strength of the earth doesn’t work. It let damage through creating blight and losing the spirit token. Yes it was a sacred site. The 3 shield was showing and the city plus explorer should have done 4 - 1 damage for 1 total. The event wasn’t relevant. All Enveloping for Rampant green had a similar problem. A town plus explorer got through the two defense to trigger blight and token loss. Also, when declining to use choke for Rampant green it proceeded to ignore the disease token which should have prevented the build. It took me 20 minutes to find 3 bugs which make the affected spirits significantly weaker and essentially unplayable. I didn’t pay $20 to do your troubleshooting for you. I can’t imagine how many more bugs are waiting. Just found another, an explorer plus city failed to build anything (should build a town) and no affects were active to prevent that (scenarios, events or powers)

The adaptation on PC is worth 5 stars, so long as you understand you're getting a solo/hotseat only (for now) experience. On Android, though, not only are you made to pay $21CAD, significantly more than *any* other board game app on the market (unless you go with the wacky subscription option), but the game refuses to open if you are offline, a deadly flaw if you want to play this on a tablet. There is potential here- a good tutorial, different UIs for phone and tablet, many appearance settings, lots of content and so on- but at the moment even portability does not make this remotely worth owning on Android compared to Steam, especially if you have reason to care about regional pricing.

Missing online coop! A vital part of a cooperative game is the ability to play cooperatively with friends. That core feature is missing from the game.

I won't even install free games if I can't play them offline. I'm certainly not going to pay for one. I'll stick to the board game

I'm a massive fan of the Spirit Island game, having bought all the expansions, even made some custom little tidbits for the game. I still play it on the daily in tabletop simulator, and as often as I can in real life. I usually applaud how much VALUE you get for the physical game. The component quality is high, as well as the replay value. However, with this, they want $18 for a SOLO experience, as well as $10 for an expansion? A blemish on a great franchise. I'd rather there BE no app.

tl;dr: don't bother installing unless you plan to spend the full $20 right now. Seemed perfect, right up until everything ground to a halt mid game until I payed money. Considering that most of the spirits are locked behind the paywall anyway, I assumed that I could play a couple of games using the "free" spirits before deciding on whether or not to buy the full version. Nope! Not even 1 game.

The board game is fantastic and the app seems to be well-designed, but it's a bit pricey for what it is. The fact that you can't even play a full game without paying $20 is a huge disappointment and nowhere near in line with comparable board game app pricing. This game badly needs a different monetization structure. I'll stick to the board game that I already spent a ton of money on, thanks.

I have the original board game and it is unequalled for its ideas, looks and gameplay. This version has all of that EXCEPT this should have been called a demo. It only provides you with the tutorial, and VERY limited play time for the actual game, as well as only giving you 4 gods to choose from. The rest is behind a $29AUD pay-wall, making this one of the most expensive app games out there OR an ongoing subscription (approx $3AUD), which can end up costing lots more. You decide.

The UI doesn't do it the game justice and makes everything so much harder to understand. I've played the board game a lot but I genuinely found it difficult to plan in this app because of how unintuitively information was provided. Its a step up from ODD and Aeons End, but I still keep struggling with basic tasks like maximising a card to read it. Long pressing or double tapping both occasionally activate the card instead. Feels like it was designed for PC and crudely ported. Also, a subscription model, really?

It is rather well implemented version of the game and love that you can undo things to help with the learning curve. However, you cannot even finish a trial game without paying. You can learn about it, you can play a few rounds, but you cannot even finish a game. I would suggest the developers allow the basic experience and paywall yourself up to unlock more spirits/adversaries. I would have preferred to see you ask me for $19.99 before downloading.
