Great digital adaptation
Dec 23, 2020 Spirit Island is easily my favorite co-op board game, and this is a great way to play solo without the setup and teardown and adds rule enforcement (digital versions are great to learn rule intricacies). Game plays very smoothly, and the UI is well designed. Even the base game prior to expansions has lots of variety and branch & claw and jagged earth will make that even better when released. The purchase model is great as well - free is enough to get the feet wet and understand the game basics prior to buying the full game. Late game with four spirits crowds the screen when lots of powers are played and could be nice to lay out the power card by spirit one at a time similar to the growth stage to make it easier to see the map, and multi-player would be a welcome addition.more -
Feb 7, 2021 This is a great adaptation of an excellent board game. It's still early days, so there's some features not here yet, that I'm hoping are coming soon - online multiplayer, and expansion content. The core game (plus promo pack 1) are here, and play excellently.more -
Finally, a true solo SI experience!
Dec 19, 2020 I have never played this board game but heard they were porting this into a solo digital app, so I got it as soon as I saw it pop up. Tutorial is fantastically smooth, and gives enough information at the right time so as to not overwhelm new players. I also like that they give some strategy reasoning in the tutorial as well. Sounds, UI and overall game flow is smooth and the gameplay is seriously fun. Thank you to the entire team for the work you all put into this!more -
Dec 23, 2020 Nailed it! This is easily the best board to app conversion I have played to date. To be clear, nothing comes close. This app is worth it, at whatever tier you buy in. There is free, which gives you the full game and basic spirits (4) OR very reasonable monthly subscription with all access OR a flat fee of $20. Steep however there is so much game! Intuative interface, option to take back moves (keepin it real here) and no major bugs so far. And available on chromebooks! My Xmas gift to me.more -
Incredible Game
Dec 17, 2020 One of the best board games to date, and this implementation of it is great! Only (obvious) comment: please add multiplayer!

Dec 20, 2020 Absurd pricing, what is it with lazy board game adaptions asking for 4x the price of a video game that has 10x the content? -
Feb 1, 2021 tl;dr: don't bother installing unless you plan to spend the full $20 right now. Seemed perfect, right up until everything ground to a halt mid game until I payed money. Considering that most of the spirits are locked behind the paywall anyway, I assumed that I could play a couple of games using the "free" spirits before deciding on whether or not to buy the full version. Nope! Not even 1 game.more

Dec 22, 2020 I own it on PC already - I would have forked over $10 bucks to support the game but $20 sticker shocked me out of it. I did buy Aeon's End (and ODD) twice, mostly for the love since I can't actually play either of these games on my phone, absurdly tablet-onlymore -
Dec 29, 2020 The board game is fantastic and the app seems to be well-designed, but it's a bit pricey for what it is. The fact that you can't even play a full game without paying $20 is a huge disappointment and nowhere near in line with comparable board game app pricing. This game badly needs a different monetization structure. I'll stick to the board game that I already spent a ton of money on, thanks.more -
Jan 31, 2021 Good game but a little complicated and overwhelming for a new player. The game does have a tutorial and explains everything well.

Cooperative solitaire?
Dec 17, 2020 I was excited to see this great cooperative board game become an app. But having played the tutorial, I now see that it’s 1-4 Spirits, NOT 1-4 players. Hardly a cooperative game when it’s solo. It really needs the ability to play online with others.more

What’s Groovy
It is rather well implemented version of the game and love that you can undo things to help with the learning curve. However, you cannot even finish a trial game without paying. You can learn about it, you can play a few rounds, but you cannot even finish a game. I would suggest the developers allow the basic experience and paywall yourself up to unlock more spirits/adversaries. I would have preferred to see you ask me for $19.99 before downloading.

What’s Subpar
Just no. Love the board game, not paying a subscription now or ever.
