Magic demo machine!
Dec 2, 2019 By Steef SAs a songwriter, I’ve always wanted a quick and easy way to demo a new song. Most of the time, I’ve just used my iPad to capture it. And if I had the time— I’d fire up Garage Band. If I really wanted to share to a wider audience, I’d work through it on my Protools setup. But now, Spire helps me make a quick and easy demo in my living room that sounds darned close to a studio version. The more I use it, the better I get and the better I sound. It does feel like a magic little box. The mic check dials in the levels, the effects sound nice and clean and above all it takes me minutes— not hours! My biggest wish would be to improve the ability to punch in to fix a guitar clam. It’s close to impossible so I usually try to get a complete and acceptable take before moving on to vocals. Punching in a vocal isn’t hard because there’s usually a dead space that I can come in on. I hope iZotope is still working on this little gem because it would be great to be able to at least add an easy dissolve to smooth a punch in. But hey, I actually couldn’t be happier with this thing. more -
Really Unreal Recorder - Spire is Fire
May 24, 2021 By BlackDonaldTrumpThis is absolutely hands-down one of the best apps I’ve ever used on my phone it’s incredibly powerful for an iPhone app or anything really. The app itself and Spire have made an unreal amount of progress over the past few months, it seems like every time I open it they’ve added some new tweak, improvement or update and it continues to get better. I’ve been pro since the beginning and well worth the subscription price and more... really good developer team. Couple super nit-picky wishes / ideas: -in same way you can import a base sound I wish you could import just like a short (ten second) clip into a channel... like for example a producer tag or a sound effect. -I like the the ‘inspire me’ effects; but I wish you could either (a) delete and/or hide the ones you don’t want or (b) favorite the ones you do so you can find them more easily, they are very cool but so many to sort through that I forget the name or want to compare fewer against each other to find the best one. - Canyou not do the effects and inspire me together on the same track? Seems like right now if I add one it removes the other effect (which is fine just curious) Thanks you guys for all that you do, fantastic job and always improving! Rating 10 / 10. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! more -
Dec 27, 2018 By A Google userThis package is definitely going places, and I'd encourage the developers to continue working on the Android app. The physical Studio device is awesome so far (totally separate from this review), but the app is limiting me quite a bit. There are some pretty significant limitations for editing: 8 tracks, no split/move/copy/paste for clips - this is super important to me - and no way to non-choppily re-record parts of an existing track. So I've been using Spire to record the raw tracks and export them to edit elsewhere. But the exporting has not treated me well. It frequently fails with a generic error message. When it does work, I have trouble getting the files to where I want them because of the Wifi and very small list of apps to which I can share (can you add an option to save the files directly to my phone?). Also, I hope the ability to export individual tracks is coming soon. I really like some parts of the app - it's really easy to lay down tracks, it's really easy to experiment with effects, and the mixing interface is awesome. I would give it 5 stars if the exporting experience was better, since I know a mobile interface will probably never have all the features I want :-) more -
Apr 8, 2020 By A Google userChanged my review back. I genuinely love my iZotope and the app, but ran into one annoying thing. I would be recording and in the middle of the recording, it would just stop. No explanation. No error. Strangely, it was always near the same time length where it cut off . I complained, and then started looking around to see if there was some settings I needed to fix. I then noticed my disk space was taken up 100%. Advice to the company, maybe give an error or warning when disk space is full. more -
Amazing.
Aug 19, 2018 By MutualMachinesI do best when recording solo. This app has allowed me to do so with exceptional quality and it’s so user friendly. The things I would love to see in the future would be: basic effects. I would love to be able to add some basic reverb or chorus effects to eliminate the need to take up precious track space with multiple vocals. Maybe like 3 effects? That’s all you really need. Also, I’ve seen in other recording software a “solo” option meaning I can isolate one track to listen to to find that one later I want to delete without having to individually muting a bunch of tracks to find the one I want to delete. I see you’ve put the option to add an icon to tracks to help distinguish what instrument is featured on each track but that’s not enough when it comes to layering vocals etc. soloing a track would be much quicker. Anyways, great app and great quality! Thanks! more -
Dec 12, 2018 By A Google userDisappointing there is no option to export individual tracks. Also, where is the metronome??? That was advertised and was definitely a selling point that is missing as far as I can see. I would also like to see the ability to add effects AFTER recording, not just permanently ingrained with the initial recording. more -
Just Missing a few things
Dec 6, 2018 By TymebombproductionsReally love this device and what it can do. However there are two main things i would like to see on the app side of things. 1st is the ability to mix tracks down to a single track like you could do on the old 4/8 tracks and then have another 7 tracks to keep adding with. 2nd is some level of post production, I understand the device is aimed at musicians who want to cut thru all the hang ups of traditional recording etc but you guys really have something here that could be much more than that. Im not saying to go crazy but maybe a 4 band eq for starters and then add some basic easy stuff that others have mentioned. Again not looking for pro tools just some tools to tweak and shape the sound a little more. Add it as an upgrade pack in app purchase or whatever i would definitely be interested in something like that keep up the good work and looking forward to some future updates more -
Apr 20, 2019 By A Google userI absolutely love this device. It makes recording and mixing a song so much easier. I gave this a 5 star when I was still using iphone. However when I switched to S10, I foung the intuitive mixing isn't as clean as with apple. Also with android you have to stay connected to the device when you are mixing a song. With apple I was able to mix without connecting to spire. Other than that, an absolute must have for any musicians. more -
I’m Totally In-Spired
Feb 5, 2021 By PJ HandlerSpire is a game changer! Years ago I had written a bunch of songs on my guitar, and recorded them on my tape recorder (remember those?). And there they sat. If you’ve ever written a song, they’re (almost) like children to you, even if they’re bad. I felt like I had abandoned them. But I never forgot them, continually wondering how I could take them to the next level. I tried buying recording software, but it was way beyond my technical ability. Then I discovered Spire. I was blown away by it’s capabilities and ease of use. It’s pretty much idiot proof. I pulled out my folder containing the lyrics and chords of my old songs, and started playing around in the app. First recorded the guitar, then added vocals. Pleased with the results, I got the little round Spire box, and started using effects. I went out and bought a used bass guitar and keyboard, and got my electronic drum kit out of the closet. I added all the instruments to the mix by myself! I’m about to record my 35th song. The pandemic has afforded me more time to devote to it than I otherwise would have had. I’ve rediscovered my passion for songwriting, I’m learning how to play the bass and the keyboard, and with each song, I’m becoming a more proficient producer. It’s amazing what Spire can do with a poorly written song! more -
Jan 3, 2020 By A Google userOriginal: 12/30/19 Literally unusable. Every time I open the app, it tells me I need to disable smart switching and won't go past that page even though that setting is disabled. I've tried toggling the option on and off, and it never works. Google Pixel 3a, Android Version 10 Edit: 1/3/20 iZotope support gave me a workaround--by holding down the wifi icon on the page I was stuck on, I was able to skip that step. Everything is working perfectly now. Thank you! more

Terrible execution
Apr 22, 2021 By elijah4444It is so surprising to me that this has been out for so long and they still haven't improved basic obvious things. Like, for example, who could think that it's a good idea to have the Spire completely disconnect every time you change apps? And then when it reconnects, it opens a new project instead of going back to the one you were on? And how you can't change effects after recording, or change the volume of certain sections? And how the "crop" function is extremely tedious and limited in its usage? I know the goal is for this program to be super simple, but there's no reason not to also include extra tools that you can use (or not use). If iPhone Garageband could easily connect to the Spire as an interface, I would always use that app instead and would never open this one again. I'm surprised that iZotope, a great company, hasn't improved this app. Also, I hate that they want you to pay for Spire premium. I already paid a ton of money for the Spire, don't ask me to then pay a monthly fee to have your frustrating app be slightly less frustrating. Ridiculous. more -
Apr 25, 2021 By Ryan BellingerDuring the initial setup, every time it prompts for pairing an account and I press the Google link, the app crashes and restarts to the point of resyncing my phone with my Spire. It's an endless cycle. I've restarted everything, re-downloaded the app, no bueno. My phone reported over 10 crashes from the app in a few minutes. The app is currently 100% unusable for me, please fix so I can fully use your product, thanks! more -
Jan 15, 2021 By Jomo EdwardsNot very user friendly, lots of bugs and limitations. The latest updates completely removed some of the features and introduced some fresh new bugs. Its the only option with their hardware, which is pretty decent. Some great tones and features available, but too much of a headache to be worth iealing with this app. more -
May 13, 2021 By AJ BoltonIt's better than an analog 8-track. I don't have an iPhone, so I only get to use the stripped down version. Maybe consider having the same functionality across operating systems? Update: If you don't have an iPhone, you will be unable to take full advantage of the Spire Studio. People keep asking for more robust Android support and have received the same answer for what appears to be years: not now. Don't bother. And don't buy the hardware! more -
Jul 9, 2019 By A Google user7/9/19- Updating my review: I posted my initial review several months ago below. I still can't access my tracks through the app UNLESS I'M CONNECTED TO THE HARDWARE DEVICE. Is there attempt being made to correct this? (First review) Not being able to access my tracks without being connected to the hardware device is very disappointing. I recently tried adding additional vocals in a separate track and mixing it with an existing track. It sounded horrible and is off. Can you fix this? more -
Sep 5, 2021 By Logan TalleyIf I knew that the software would degrade as badly as it has, I would not have purchased a Spire. Two main problems: Removal of the share via link. This was the most useful feature to share, and now any use is burdened by endless crashing and upload/download times. Difficulty connecting. An easy intuitive system now is a frustrating experience always. iZotope, please stop updating. Each one is worse than the last. Offer the same experience to Android users that you do to your apple users. more -
Feb 24, 2019 By A Google userWeird. I think I'll be returning the device. The software on Android is so bad: 1) It hijacks your Wifi to connect instead of using Bluetooth. 2) Deleting projects is hard to discover (it's a mystery-meat hold-and-swipe). 3) Assumes that you want to lay each recording over the previous with fancy mixing. So there is no way to do something much simpler -- such as recording successive paragraphs in an audiobook. This device is not flexible, it is ONLY for people wanting to do multitrack mixing. To record a couple hundred parts of one audio, you would literally have to create (and name and export) a new project for each of the hundreds of blocks of recording. 4) Apparently no pause button to pause recording. That's awkward. 5) The software is meant for phones only. It does not support landscape orientation of tablets. (my Lenovo tablet kickstand only works in landscape) 6) No audio export while connected because no Wifi! Well, that's my first (and last) 5 minute impression. These guys worked so hard on some arcane bells and whistles that they failed to make the basics usable. more -
Oct 7, 2021 By Jubal SinclairI have given up on Spire - slowly declining update after update. What once was a handy software and device has become a massive headache. I am lucky to be able to connect 1-20 times. I have hard/soft reset, checked my internet and troubleshoot everyway possible that the customer service rep. suggested with no prevail. If you don't have an iPhone they do not care about app presence, layout or features. BUT In the midst of all the negatives it is the best looking paperweight I've ever owned. more -
I wouldn’t recommend buying this device
May 1, 2019 By AlexorbobI just tried to record vocals and couldn’t figure out why the mic was picking up so much feedback. I went through the sound check, the direct sound effects( hurt my ear with a high pitch), and even tried to cover the spire to see why but it didn’t go away. So after trying and giving up I realized that the feedback is only heard when I’m charging the spire. So how am I supposed to use this device to record out of the blue of when I need to charge it I get feedback... I’ve had so many issues trying to record because I’m just now realizing that I can’t charge it while I record.. No wonder I can’t get inspired because I’m working with a device that has bugs,.. and in the end I still transfer my recorded song to garage band because this app can’t do what garage band can.. 2Stars because I’m nice like that. more -
Needs Some Improvements
Dec 30, 2020 By ShellieMom7889This is an okay app, but it has a lot of things I wish were different about it. It isn’t compatible with my microphone, which I plug into my phone for louder sound. Another problem I had with it is the sound-checking system doesn’t work very well. The recordings didn’t really sound any different. It would be nice if there was some way for you to edit the recordings yourself through the app, because digital recordings sound so tinny, and sometimes need more than an automatic sound-check. I do love that you can mix recordings and change the volume on them, but any app with a recording option can do that. I will say it’s definitely better than iMovie and Garage Band, and it is cool that it tries to sound-check specifically for your instrument or vocal type. more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! more -
Thanks! more -
I’m Totally In-Spired
Thank you! more -
I couldn’t rate 4.5 stars...
Nov 14, 2018 By blipersmartI absolutely love this app, I’ve recorded multiple songs that I fell in love with again after using this mobile studio... that being said I only wish it had one thing, some effects for the tracks. When you buy the spire hardware (the desk top mic with all the bells and whistles) for around $500 then you get cool editing and stuff like that, but would it hurt to put some filters on the mobile app? Like reverb, echo, gain, maybe normalize? Or even a white noise suppressor? I’m not asking for every upgrade that comes with the hardware but at least some small things. If the developer could get back to me on this it would be awesome! Like I said, amazing app, amazing software, and awesome recordings come from this app, talent not included, in case you were wondering, lol more -
Apr 11, 2020 By A Google userPerfect for scratch tracking and trying out new ideas. Quick and easy. This is THE ONLY android app there is when trying to capture a quality recording and mixing tools. Too bad there are no ampitude or deplike capabilities that I am aware of for this app. It would be better if it had a more versatile selection of guitar amp presets and effect pedals to choose from. I ran my own amp into the spire using dry/wet balanced outs. I needed a more modern and aggressive sound than the amps provided. more -
Best Studio App available!
Feb 7, 2020 By BigTojoI’ve used Spire Studio for close to 2 years to do professional recordings that have been used in radio advertisements, tv commercials, and a few industry releases. It has a great built-in Mic with a dope Soundcheck feature to give your recordings great volume without clipping. New vocal effects are amazing. Plus several other effects available. One of the best tools is the Mixing window. It is simple enough for beginners to use, but can deliver the same quality and results the pros put out. Export to other Spire users to collab, export to email, or even upload directly to SoundCloud without any extra work. By far the best Studio app I own. Use it on a daily basis. Get Spire Studio, you won’t be disappointed. more -
Best recording app paid for or not
Sep 22, 2021 By dustycloudsI have fallen in love with this app and it has taken my music soaring to new heights. As a singer/songwriter it is amazing to write a song and then record it right from my phone and then share that with all my devices. You can’t sing one chorus perfect and then cut and paste it through out the song so you have to know your material and you can’t enhance edit and filter each individual track so you have to learn to produce the sound your looking for yourself but I like that. I think the newest update introduced some new features so sorry if I’m selling you guys short spire but all I want people to take away from this is “best recording app paid for or not” more -
Amazing App
Jan 28, 2020 By ArhoserAfter searching for software to record playing my sax playing with background piano I stumbled onto this. This app is amazing in its simplicity for recording multiple tracks and then sharing the file (project) or tracks. I have been using it on my iPad just with built in microphone. I can simply import a piano score previously saved in my music then play my sax on a separate track along with it. My mind is churning with the possibilities this will make. While the quick short videos may do it for someone who knows the system it doesn’t for someone trying to learn it. I am sold and just ordered the Spire Studio saving tons of money to achieve my goal of a simple studio. Keep it up. You guys Rock in my book! more

Advice to the company, maybe give an error or warning when disk space is full. more -
Just Missing a few things
Other than that, an absolute must have for any musicians. more -
Good, but not totally accessible for blind users
Oct 3, 2020 By 😝Keenan414I am a blind user. I purchased the Spire Studio on a recommendation. After the initial trouble of syncing the recorder with the app without being able to see the blinking lights to perform the operation, I have finally been able to use it. The sound I get with my guitar is amazing. The app could use some fine tuning for accessibility... not all parts are clearly labeled, and I am able to mix different tracks, sort of. But still trying to figure it out. Apparently there’s no manual. If a little more work were to be put in to make the app more blind user friendly, and some instructions to go with it, that would be wonderful and I would revise my 4 to a 5. If you are blind or V.I., be ready to put in some time with trial and error, and don’t use any important files until you have a grasp on the platform, or if you have backups. more -
Innovative, with room for improvement
Sep 19, 2020 By blueswandererThe Spire hardware + iOS app is a pioneering combination of hardware and software, but it has some frustrating limitations. Bulk transfer of projects from the Spire Studio -> iOS device is sorely missing, so backing up projects is a chore that involves tapping each one and waiting for it to transfer before moving on to the next. And if you are hoping to use your recorded audio files in a DAW, there is no way to access your files directly via the native iOS Files app (which is also integrated with MacOS) — instead you need to open each project individually within the Spire app and export the raw audio files from there. I currently have over 100 Spire projects and the audio feels “locked in” because exporting the audio from each project is so cumbersome. It would take me hours just to get the raw audio files onto my laptop. Also, the amps/effects for guitar are underwhelming and generally sound thin. A $40 AmPlug 2 from Vox sounds much better. Still: this is a unique and compelling device that does some things, like quickly tracking vocals and raw guitar takes, very well. It is great being able to start recording on the Spire Studio within ~30 seconds (including soundcheck) without having to look at a screen. I hope iZotope continues to invest in it. more -
Not too shabby
Jun 20, 2020 By RawlivicI own a the spire recording device and have the app installed. I use an external mic plugged into the isotope spire and record into spire and mix onto another daw on my phone. Now I like the spire, don’t get me wrong. However I also have an audio interface that works with any daw I plug it into and I can get straight to mixing without having to import files. Now I love what the spire can do, the quality that the vocals can display are great but because I can only record into the spire daw with my spire device I find myself not using it anymore. Now if I could use the izotope spire in any daw, that would be amazing... maybe even making spire and the spire device have audio unit extension capabilities. There are updates that should and probably could happen... but auv3 spire through cubasis? That would most definitely be the best! Hopefully something like that happens and I can use my izotope spire again. more -
Feb 15, 2019 By A Google userNote 2-14-19: The metronome isn't very useful because the volume is way too loud and they don't give users the ability to change the volume of the metronome, specifically. Depending on how quiet your input levels are by comparison and what your monitoring volume is set to, it can be very distracting and even harmful to your hearing. I've submitted a request to address this via email. They just reminded me that I can change the monitoring volume. What if I want to hear my input without clipping? more -
almost there
Aug 7, 2020 By Yo177Hello, just wanted to say that this app has some potential. However, there are a few things that I have to suggest. The first one is that I would like some more things to do with your vocal tracks such as echo or reverb. Whenever I record my freestyles to a beat I find my vocals to be very dull and does not sound that good. There are other free apps that sound a little better than this one. The second idea is voiceover support. I have low vision and some parts of the app don’t work such as track editing. It would be cool if you could fix some of those problems. Other than that, that’s all I have. Keep up the good work. more -
Please if you can add more tracks
Apr 24, 2021 By ampizo slacker reviewampI do like to set up I use voice over and it works very well with that. But eight tracks isn’t good enough because I don’t record a song all the way through. So by the time I’m done with all of my recordings I still have the third verse and the chorus to finish if there was more tracks than I could record more. I know this may illuminate a feature. But maybe once you hit the record button a second time maybe you can still stay on that same track until you manually want to move to the third track more -
Spire izotope
Aug 11, 2019 By portlinkOverall it’s super simple to use. So far it seems to lack anyway to punch in and out to pull two pieces of a track together which make it difficult. You either have to get a track perfect in one take or try to punch in on the same track to continue the recording which is tough to do. Maybe I just can’t figure out how to do it yet but everything else is really simple so it seems it’s just not an option. For just recording a vocal track, and individual instrument tracks and layering them it’s great, but anything more doesn’t seem doable. more

I would give it 5 stars if the exporting experience was better, since I know a mobile interface will probably never have all the features I want :-) more -
Dec 12, 2018 By A Google userDisappointing there is no option to export individual tracks. Also, where is the metronome??? That was advertised and was definitely a selling point that is missing as far as I can see. I would also like to see the ability to add effects AFTER recording, not just permanently ingrained with the initial recording. more -
Nov 5, 2018 By A Google userAt this point in time the Android version is missing a lot of features compared to iOS version. Izotope acknowledges this but I'm not convinced how committed they are to resolving this. Come on guys not every musician uses Apple products. Connecting is reliable on Samsung devices. Sharing is buggy. App needs additional basic functions like track soloing, arbitrary selection and adding effects after recording. I guess they're trying. The Spire hardware however is freaking awesome. more -
Needs copy/paste or looping
Feb 17, 2021 By S to the teveThe convenience of this app is great, but the big limitation for me is a lack of a copy/paste or looping function. For instance: if I want to create a 4-bar drum beat, I have to play it through the entire length of the proverbial song instead of being able to play just one 4-bar segment, and then copy/paste or loop it to build a base for my track. I should be able to play as many or few beats as I want and then build it out to create, let’s say, a 16-bar verse section. Then put in a chorus section, and then go back and copy/paste the verse section again for 16 more bars of a second verse, etc. Yeah, I know I can export into a DAW and do this, but if I’m gonna go to that trouble, why bother with this app at all? Am I missing something? Seems like a basic addition to a music creation app like this. I can’t be expected to play perfectly in time for a whole 4 minute song, can I? ;) more -
Jan 9, 2020 By A Google userSo I love it so far. I do have some issues with the apps interface. When a project is finished, it's a big battle to export anything. All I want to do is download the file. Sending everything to Google drive isn't easy when I have fl studio mobile on my tablet and phone. I'd love to be able to directly download songs and recordings onto my phone and mix them in other apps that have more options. I see this is an option for iPhone users so I don't really understand why we don't have that yet. more -
Missing some key elements
Jun 3, 2020 By NiceladyMTIt blows my mind that without the actual expensive studio set, you cannot plug in an external mic or even headset mic to record. I can only record through my crappy iPhone microphone itself, which is garbage sound quality and basically renders the app relatively useless for recording music, as the quality is poor and everything sounds muddied no matter what I do. Spire, why don’t you have the option to do this? Literally every other recording app I’ve tried (probably 10-15), when you plug in an external mic or headphones that have a mic, it records via that. Is this to make people buy the studio? If so that’s a low blow. I appreciate many other things about this app and would prefer to use it above the others, but having my iPhone mic be the only option, I can’t use this app for music recording. Am I missing something here? Would love a response from Spire. more -
May 12, 2020 By Jason GarnerGreat software but needlessly limited. You can only import one sound per project and it has to be the first track. If you could import tracks it would be worth owning just for the amazing mixing platform. Also, if you could import to any track you could implement a social media aspect to it and share projects with friends that own the Spire. Wants: Import multiple tracks, post track eq, copy and paste tracks for doubling options. Otherwise one of the best systems ever! more -
No more updates!
Jul 18, 2022 By Trevor1929I enjoy the spire hardware and the app, however it is really disappointing to know that regular (if any updates) will be made to the app anymore…I reached out to izotope on Instagram and they said that no planned updates are in the works because spire is “no longer a focus”. It’s frustrating because the hardware and the software both only work with each other, I can’t use the spire hardware on any other DAW that has continuous updates, the current app is fine but I was looking forward to more updates, such as copy/paste, easier punching into tracks, the ability to add reverb to each track with the option to add before or after I record…just some weird things with the app that could be improved but I guess won’t be now, they just came out with version 2 last year…. more -
I don’t recommend this
Oct 15, 2019 By Eating cheetos at 3 AMI’ve used this app for about a month now for recording myself play guitar, but there is one thing that constantly always bothers me. You CANNOT set the starting point in editing/trimming. So, let’s say there’s 10 seconds of unneeded audio in the beginning of the recording; getting your instrument or whatever setup and the music sheet ready, and then you start playing. Well, there is absolutely no way to get rid of that starting 10 seconds of junk. You can’t do it in the trim, because all it does is delete the audio inside that timeframe, so you’ll have 10 starting seconds of silence without any way to get rid of it. Imagine with every movie you watch, each scene starts includes “Alright, everybody ready? Remember your lines? Okay, now action!” That would be a very annoying movie. Just use Voice Memos. more -
Sounds great....but...
Feb 20, 2021 By aversaThis is a super cool unit. Sounds great and is easy to use. This app needs basic editing features though on the recording timeline. Would be nice to be able to use loops instead of having to import full tracks? Also to be able to lightly comp your takes would also be nice (cut, paste, duplicate, basic editing features). I realize Izotope isn’t aiming to make this a DAW, but it really doesn’t make sense to go PRO but not have basic PRO features. I suppose an amazing work around could be an AU plugin that allows you to use the hardware with other mobile daws such as Cubasis? As an interface and idea machine it’s better than voice memos, but I rarely use it because it just doesn’t feel complete to me. more

Jan 15, 2021 By Jomo EdwardsNot very user friendly, lots of bugs and limitations. The latest updates completely removed some of the features and introduced some fresh new bugs. Its the only option with their hardware, which is pretty decent. Some great tones and features available, but too much of a headache to be worth iealing with this app. more -
I wouldn’t recommend buying this device
I will say it’s definitely better than iMovie and Garage Band, and it is cool that it tries to sound-check specifically for your instrument or vocal type. more -
Seriously
Sep 22, 2020 By Whitis0311I’m already starting to get frustrated!!! I literally just downloaded this app, and for someone that’s never used an app such as this for recording music before, this app doesn’t make it easy for a beginner to learn themselves on at all!!! The importing button is just NOT WORKING AT ALL when I try to import my instrumentals from my Apple Music app on my iPhone, onto the spire app, once I select the song from my library, it just goes back to the spire app, and doesn’t do ANYTHING AT ALL, I’ve tried it over 3 dozen times and NOTHING HAPPENS! It is incredibly frustrating!!! I’ve even referred to the app-help section and followed those links to no avail!!! It is truly hopeless!!! I really wanted to love this app, because it truly could’ve been something great, but alas, it’s just another unfortunate wannabe imitation. 😞😞😞😞😞 more -
“That’s a crop icon...”
Apr 10, 2021 By Thick_ToastTypically when you “crop” audio in a DAW you are selecting what you want to keep, not selecting what you want to delete. This is NOT a DAW or a MAW (mobile audio workstation). In this software audio does not exist on top of a timeline. Because of that you cannot cut, paste and move around sections of audio within the global timeline. Rather, audio is constantly being over-written or deleted on the same audio file. Most likely the the amount of backend engineering required to gain that functionality would cost too much for the business model here. So if you’re looking for Pro Tools in an app this is not it. If you want to have the ability to just record straight audio then it is somewhat useful. more -
Don’t get the updates it keeps getting worse
Jul 20, 2020 By feather797I use this app so much but my phone auto updated the newest version and the metronome usability dive bombed. Usually you can turn on the metronome and hit record and you hear the metronome before you start recording. Now... it’s not there... but it appears IN MY TRACKS!!! I can’t hear it when I record but I can hear it in my tracks.. not lining up with the music. This is a major update flaw. Please fix this or your app is unusable.

The app is currently 100% unusable for me, please fix so I can fully use your product, thanks! more -
May 13, 2021 By AJ BoltonIt's better than an analog 8-track.
BUT In the midst of all the negatives it is the best looking paperweight I've ever owned. more -
Social Media Upload Fails to Initiate from iPad
Feb 2, 2021 By NotyourownLove everything about Spire Studio except a few months ago the upload function to share with Facebook fails to initialize. I’ve been supplying test results and diagnostics to Izotope but there has been zero progress in fixing the problem. So upload works from my iPhone but not my iPad. Who likes to work on a small screen all the time? From my iPad I can upload to Messenger, MeWe no problem but not share to a greater audience on FB. I even restored my iphones backup to my clean iPad and it worked! Except when a new Spire update got installed on my iPad for the iPad version of Spire, go figure, back to square one. Frustrated! Ps...Tech Support has been great but the Developers not so much. more -
Mic doesn’t work
Dec 27, 2019 By kamalex2000Bought the spire hardware unit. So excited to use it. Of course the paperwork (or lack thereof) states you’ll be recording in under a minute. It took 4 minutes to download an update before I could even pair it to my phone at all. Then to my disappointment the mic on the unit doesn’t work. It doesn’t pick up sound at all. I decided to plug an external mic in and my guitar in and use it that way. Still nothing. After 2 days of you tube videos and customer service calls I’m sending it back. I’m hoping to buy another unit and pray it works. The concept seems amazing, but for now sadly disheartened. more -
Horrible lag
Sep 10, 2019 By ArdorenI’m trying to play and record the rhythm and solo from Linkin Park’s “The little things give you away” and for some reason there is about 1/4 of a second delay on my second guitar track. I know I’m rusty on the guitar but my timing isn’t THAT bad. I have no idea what’s going on. They’re so out of sync that even when I’m strumming the exact same chords in the exact same time and pattern that after a few seconds they diverge so much that it becomes a garbled, choppy mess. I can open up another app and immediately play synced up so I know it’s this app. Unfortunately, spire seems to have the best sound quality that I’ve found but I can’t use it. I deleted all tracks besides the two guitar parts because I thought having a bunch might have been causing the lag, even though I hadn’t recorded anything on them yet. I’ve looked through all settings and found nothing helpful. 🤷♂️ more

• Spire Pro is now a free upgrade giving you access to pro mic clarity in Soundcheck, creative vocal effects, vocal tuning, and the random effects generator Inspire Me
• Spire Pro beats, automatic noise reduction, and link sharing have been removed. You can still share .spire project files, individual tracks, and mixdowns through Airdrop, file sharing apps, and more. You can also still import your own beats and tracks.

• When signed into your Spire account, your projects are backed up in the cloud and synced while on Wi-Fi so that you can access the most up-to-date version from any iOS device or desktop via the web at share.izotope.com.
• With unlimited cloud backup and real-time syncing, there’s no need to send new files to your collaborators after a change. They can open the project via the link shared to bounce new mixdowns or individual stems to import into a DAW after you’ve made edits. This feature is great if you are recording vocals and want to quickly download the latest takes to produce with.
• Create Spire Projects from files on your desktop when signed into your Spire account at share.izotope.com by simply dragging and dropping the files into “Start Something New.” Add an instrumental or some vocal takes, and you’ll be able to see the project across all your iOS devices in the Spire app or share a link to another artist to collab.
• Sharing a project via the cloud is even faster now that projects sync in real-time, no need to wait for long upload times when you’re logged into your Spire account and your projects are synced.
