I just have this running in the background on my Bluetooth. I've never needed to enter in any pin number and it never alerted me that someone I spent significant time near had a COVID-19 positive test. So either I've been safe or something is wrong with the notifications. I'm going to go with I'm safe.

This is obviously dependent on everyone having the app and them reporting. That said, if they catch covid, if they’re a good citizen they should install it and report, but that’s pretty much locking the door after the horse has bolted, but it would be something. Also, with me living very close to the SC border who don’t have an app, I’m not so sure this will work that well. Add to that apartment/condo or townhouse living and a neighbor you have had no contact with reporting, you could get notifications because their phone is the other side of the wall, but it’s better than nothing. Realistically, the CDC should have had a national app. Why they don’t may be due to budget cuts? Who knows. Still - as I said it’s better than nothing and kudos to NC state dept of health for getting this out. Seemingly one of the few states that bothered.
  • Great idea but probably too few people using it Mar 13, 2021

Rating it 5 stars to hopefully increase visibility, but... I've had this app installed since it came out. But I've just now turned it off because 1. no one seems to have heard of it (so they're not using it), 2. It eats my battery, and 3. I rarely leave the house. Even though it's a battery hog I'm not complaining about that-- I understand that it needs to use Bluetooth aggressively to do what it needs to do-- but if 99.9% of the time it's consuming battery charge while I'm at home and there's no one else around, and the rest of the time it's probably futile because most other people don't have it, then unfortunately it's not helpful. Bit of a chicken and egg problem....

This app is an amazing idea it’s great security wise and just an overall greta concept, BUT it needs to have widespread use. SHARE THE APP THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA, TEXT, ECT. It sits away, you never need to get on it. Just download and then fill out the info.

An exposure notification app seems like a great idea. But this app is only useful when lots of people have it. So why has it been out a month and I am just hearing about it at tje bottom of a story on WLOS? I was just at doctor last week and no one mentioned it. Asking GPs and others to tell their patients to download the app seems like a low cost way to spread the word!

So - 5stars because I want everyone in NC to download it - contact tracing is something we need But I have had it downloaded for months. Was just talking to a nurse at a pediatrician’s office, and she didn’t even know the app existed! Dept of Health needs to be notifying every doctor in the state that this app is a tool in our state’s COVID toolkit - it only works if most folks have it installed

Great resource, would be amazing if people could add recent locations/addresses visited prior to enabling notifications
  • Glad for this app. Add vaccination status? Mar 22, 2021

    By somaBID
This app is very useful, and glad NC saw the value in setting this up. I would request that in an update that the app user be asked o if they have been vaccinated, and when. Maybe even vaccine time and # of doses. It would be helpful to know if a possible exposure included people who were vaccinated...

I have had this app on my phone for 8 months. So far it has given me no warnings of COVID-19 exposure. I truly think that is a godsend. Or a blessing. Great app.
  • Hope this app goes VIRAL Sep 24, 2020

Prior to this app coming out, downloaded the app for Virginia and the other states that have similar. Really worth getting them all as they should alert you on travelers as well. Living in Wake Forest we get folks from Virginia in our Target and other stores every day. Hopefully, soon, the state apps will all work in unison.

App is a peice of trash. Trying to sign up and use it is a pain in the butt. It shouldn't be this complicated to use an app that essentially only needs to notify you of other users around you. Many apps have this function. Hell, even dating apps notify you if a match is nearby. The devs need to learn how the hell to code an app before trying to capitalize on everyone's fear with this useless junk during a pandemic.

The app is not working, it has not checked for exposure since January 9th. I keep seeing where they are telling people to go to Device Care > Battery ..... That does not exist on my phone, they must be giving instructions for an iPhone. ********* Update still is showing January 9th as my last exposure check. This app has not worked since then. I guess that I may as well uninstall.

Why is my phone notifying me about an exposure tracking app for a state I don't even live in? Is northwest Georgia really just a figment of my imagination I happen to live in? Lmao also as far as the app just stay indoors and away from physical contact with others lol I'm literally immunocompromised and I still feel this is unnecessary and ultimately going to not fix the pandemic issue let alone that Covid is never ever ever going away as a thing that exists, I have to accept it and so do you.
  • Great app if you could actually report a positive test Jan 10, 2021

    By alamcarter
Love the idea of the app but in order to report a positive test you need a pin. You can’t request one online which leaves you to have to call. Ok not a huge deal but is another step. Next issue is that because the case count is so high you can’t get the pin till they verify your positive test. After 4 days and still not being in their system we gave up reporting it. Fortunately the 2 in my family were only around me and we were under quarantine already so no one else was exposed. Fortunately my eldest who spread it to us was able to have it confirmed and got the pin but no luck for the other 2.

When I found myself getting less than 99 Push Notifications an hour to my cellphone, this app came in and saved the day by getting those useless push notifications up enough to display (99+) notifications. Since my sense of self worth is directly tied to the number of notifications I receive per hour, it immediately became an invaluable tool for increasing tMood, we ent ckkhat number by 1. • I don’t think this does anything Nov 19, 2020

    By Bea Careful
I have to say — I’m a little disappointed. We’ve had the app downloaded on my families phones since it was released and haven’t left the house without masks in months. My husband tested positive earlier this week and we immediately went through the steps of verifying through the app. It’s been three days and neither his, nor mine, says we’ve been exposed. This makes me wonder how many people I passed on our morning walks, picking up groceries, etc. who might have been positive as well.

5/15/21 My wife was tested positive a week ago, my whole family has the app running, no notifications. Tried to "notify others" but it has so many steps and is intentionally difficult to prevent misinformation to the point that when you're sick you give up. In the end, this app is worthless.

I've come into contact with tens of thousands possibly hundreds of thousands of people in crowded bars and restaurants without masks on in a densely populated major metropolitan City, yet have gotten no covid exposure warnings in an entire year using the app. I doubt it works. Even if it does this app is a violation of your privacy. Big Tech spies on you and turns your data over to the police without your consent. We are becoming a police state. Soon the government will have all your health data

I get an error message when I try to turn notifications on. I had previously installed the VA app, so maybe that’s messing it up? But this app is useless, and I can’t find a way to get help for the issue.— nevermind, had to go find the app settings and change my region.

It’s a great concept. But there’s no guide to tell you what things mean. It says no exposure detected, but twice this week there has been a little red star thing next to that? What does that mean?

I was so excited to have this app as a resource to help me stay healthy and protect those I love. My friend and I downloaded it on the same day. Months later she tested positive for COVID. The department of health was informed. She let me know and I’m glad she did because THIS APP DIDN’T. I kept checking and looking for an alert or something after she told me. Nothing. So bummed that this didn’t live up to its standards.

    By Ash49er
For a 7.5MB app. I don’t see why this application ended up taking 800+mb of phone storage. That’s ridiculous. It has used up more than any other application I keep on my phone. Even with logs that it keeps it should be able to compress its files to a manageable size that doesn’t have such drastic size implications.

While I love the idea powering this app actually acquiring a pin takes so long that the app becomes useless. I finally received my positive test result four days after showing symptoms and when I called in to get my pin, I was told that I would have to wait a few days and call in again. By the time I actually get my pin the incubation period for the people I may have had contact with will be over and they'll probably have symptoms before they even get any notice from the app.

Takes 24-48 hours after test result to get a pin to verify a positive test. I’m also saddened by the late rollout and slow adoption for a simple app that Apple provided the framework for. Most people still don’t know about this app, I went through the testing process with Duke and the app was never mentioned, never advertised anywhere. This should be one of the most important tools for mitigating the spread and its being treated like a novelty. Why not StopCovidNC?
  • Useless Aug 29, 2021

I had high hopes for this app and encouraged everyone I know to download it. However, it’s useless. I’ve had COVID twice now and both times the system wouldn’t let me share a positive result. Called the 800 number after the system “couldn’t find me” to generate a PIN. The PIN given over the phone wouldn’t work in the app. Figured maybe it was a glitch the first time but now that it’s happened twice it tells me the app doesn’t work.

Horrible and doesn't work at all. I am guessing the app developer is Slow, like the apps name. Google should remove this from the store. It does not look to be supported or updated any longer. Worst app I have ever downloaded!
