I would like to first say I love this app... Like everybody else I have been using this app for years. It’s simply amazing to be able to find what exactly is a piece of music is that you love so much but never knew either the name or who wrote and performed it. The reason and the only reason I put two stars is because my passion my only time to be able to do this is my hour, Hour and a half commute every morning and evening. I enjoy Shazaming the music that brings happiness peace harmony excitement passion call during my endless rides that we all must make turn earn a living but Listening to music, that gets me through the day... and I’m not big on social media but this is the one thing I enjoy to do is to share the music that brings peace to my soul. Having said that again you have to jump through so many hoops and hit so many buttons just to post a song on Facebook why can’t it remember each time what I want to do and not have to hit pick through the options every single time. Seriously, it’s retarded. Nowww!, just to clarify I’m not making fun of anybody who has learning disabilities, to anybody who is dyslexic or ADD like myself but really it’s just and expression so please forgive me if I insult anybody out there❤️

This wonderful app, is a must have app! It allows me to find music globally! I use it to find out who the artist is, from the singers to the backup musicians in the group. On radio’s, television, to movie soundtracks in the theaters! From all generations! Don’t know what I’d do without it! Saves my sanity, now that they’ve closed almost every record store in Hawaii! The hours I use to spend in my youth. Reading and researching all kinds of music, looking for something new to share with my family and friends. Now I have it all at my fingertips in seconds! With the option to watch in on videos, or download to my phone. I can share it online on my Facebook page, with my friends and family in the mainland. Along with the great island music, we have here in Hawaii! I can’t live without it now! So addicted! Do yourself a favor and download “Shazam App” immediately! Luv & Aloha Kathi Jo

It's a great app. But I'm unimpressed by the fact that recently, the android app version does not locate songs in apple music. Instead, it opens up browsers. Secondly, I have tried to merge my android and ios accounts so I can have all Shazamed songs in one place. This seems impossible for some reason, because the shazamed songs in each account do not get imported to each other even after logging in. Please fix this flaw.

I've had this problem with just a few apps...that I didn't just delete, or with whos developers I am still fighting to have them stop billing me; you get the app (and in this case, pay $4.99), it works great, and you really enjoy using it, or in the case of a navigational app, you depend on it. Then, the update notices start. And it sounds all good to you, so update. Right now this app has been in some state of suspended, useless limbo. The message states that "even though you have paid for this app," it cannot be updated unless you connect to your computer, open iTunes or whatever, Blah, Blah, Blah. I am no where near my Mac. Is this developed for a Mac computer, or for an iPhone? I must have been mistaken, because I thought it was the latter. Screw your poorly designed improvements, and give me back the original app. Too many app developers are travelling this road. It's highley problematic. Only a cell phone company could screw up a Mac product, and really, Mac, get a tighter reign on this kind of thing. You don't look open and innovative, you look stupid and out of control.

Great for identifying tracks you hear out and about but, as someone who listens to the radio with headphones a lot, it really needs to improve its ability to shazam tracks you're listening to on headphones. If there's even the lowest background music playing it will pick that up instead and there is no option to force it to listen to music playing through headphones rather than ambient music

Works fine. Everything has been linked with my Facebook since day 1. I used the free version for a long time, stored a bunch of history in there and then ... all i did was press the upgrade button because hey, screw commercials if you use an app this much, right? There's also ZERO distinction between the look of the app's digital cover of itself on your screen between the free and paid version - WHY? Neither the free or paid version are linked up with each other in any contiguous way; they’re just two duplicates of the same app, one with ads and one without. So after upgrading and linking all my musical accounts to everything ..... there’s no more history of any of my Shazams. Two stars because it works the exact same way as the free version. Don’t give them your money until they fix these issues; it’s MUCH more worth it to bear a few ads and commercials if it means having your Shazam history, at least in my opinion.

Hasn't been working for months now. It doesn't work in my personal or my work phone. "There was a problem with your shazam" is the only result I get when trying to recognize a tune. I saw this advice online telling to empty the app cache etc. I did that, the app worked for one tune and then stopped working again. FIX THIS.

The app is nice at first.. till the moment that you search for song, but the app never heard of it? How is this possible, this app suppose to know each song that is in the network! The app doesn't recognize lots of songs! Ofcourse the app can recognize all crapy new songs, but lees of the real good old school!

Some songs it identifies in 2 seconds, others i play on repeat and still "No Result". It usually has problems syncing lyrics and song, but no prob, its overall great. I actually have been telling others to download to not miss out on great music. I just wish I could listen on Spotify .. come on apple, extend yr Horizonnn... *Edit: What the hell... over these two week it couldn't identify a single song.. A SINGLE SONG! Evn those i knew n were popular .. wth ?

Been using this app since 2013 and I've been very pleased with it until about a year ago, since I've noticed a big drop in performance. It keeps on failing to recognize clearly sounding songs that are already on youtube.

Worst experience ever. On Android I cannot open my music directly from Shazam to Apple Music, it keeps taking me to either Google Play or Chrome. Yoh, worst experience. I cannot play my Shazam'd1 tracks directly. Like I can with my iPhone, I also cannot link both Shazam to a single account from 2 different devices. Identifying its doing a great job, account wise it still needs some work before, majore software upgrades
  • Latest Shazam update is horrible (v11.9.1) May 8, 2018

    By iomracer
With the latest update of Shazam you cannot remove Shazam’ed songs. Your list sync’s with their servers and retains everything you Shazam’d, even if you used the ‘remove from my Shazam’ function, the songs come back. Also, when looking up artists it no long tells you how many people have Shazam’d that artist. But worse, you cannot just click ‘follow’ (or ‘unfollow’) an artist from that tab - you have to go to My Shazams and unfollow one at a time. At least the song recognition feature remains intact. I Shazam many less popular songs (e.g. those broadcast by KCRW) and it gets 99% of them.

Very accurate most (not all) of the time. I also love the fact that there is an offline mode, how fast I can add to my spotify, and how the history is saved. Also the entire app is just visually appealing, but that's just icing. Awesome app, and I hope the future updates make it better and better!
  • Love it, but, stop forcing Apple Music on me Oct 27, 2020

    By Lil'Bunny5
I LOVE Shazam and how it helps me find the names of obscure songs. Call me old school but I still like making my own playlists. I like hearing what I want, in the order I want to hear it. It’s worth paying for the song and supporting the artist. However, it seems like there was some sort of partnership that occurred in the past year that makes it harder to navigate from there to iTunes to buy the song. You have to hit a few more buttons than before. It definitely seems like the app’s preference is for you to subscribe to Apple Music. Just a heads up.

As a software engineer myself I can scarcely comprehend the ingenuity. First tried it in 2009 and acquired a lot of great music as a result. But for a few years I more or less recognized all the music I heard in public places so didn’t need it. But a few days ago I heard a song I really couldn’t do without so I downloaded the current app from the Apple app store. Learned the song was Showtime by DJ Slimm, downloaded the EP from Tidal and love it. I’m also a jazz and classical musician as well as a software engineer so I appreciate any musical knowledge I can acquire. I would describe Shazam as the musical equivalent of Wikipedia. For years whenever I hear a song I like, I’am unable to go out and get it because for the first twenty years of my life, it’s hard for me to walk into town and get the album the songs is contained because I lived on a dead end street off a road with no sidewalks so I ended up staying in my house for most of the time, and now with this app, I could track down the artists who sang the songs I enjoyed anytime I want and will always use it for the rest of my life.

I love Shazam and had it on my watch for months, suddenly one day it disappeared?? I went to the App Store and bought the Shazam Encore, even though I’d already paid for the upgraded version years ago. I've spent days trying to get the app to show up on my watch. I open it in the Watch app but it doesn’t show up within the watch. I’m definitely going to dispute the charge for this. I specifically bought it because it said Encore was compatible with the Apple Watch!

I have always enjoyed Shazam! I even love the the show. I do have one problem that I hope you can look into and maybe fix it in an update. I have resound hearing aids that stream through my iPhone. Unfortunately when I try to use Shazam while wearing them, Shazam doesn’t recognize anything playing. I suffer from degenerative hearing loss so I do need to wear them all day. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas and happy new year!

So glad that I bought this app. The free version was good ( I don’t even know if there is anymore? Was a while ago for me). I bought it because I just wanted a little more. To make sure I got the most out of it and it could save all my music finds. (Like I said it was a while ago and my memory is terrible)....... I gave it a 4 out 5 because sometimes the songs I tired to Shazam don’t get found. Maybe my location or cell service WiFi who knows. Or it could be it’s new or freestyle or something ? I have no idea.. Possibly be because they’re not “Shazamable”? Nun the leased I’m glad I have this app. I’ve Shazamed close to over 500 songs. Definitely worth. Get it!!!

I'm trying to track down a system wide bug on my phone (sometimes an app crashing immediately is you) and I have updates in my queue for Shazam and Shazam Encore. There's a note near the most recent update, from 6 days ago (it's 3/4/20) that Shazam Encore's no longer supported. Odd. Maybe it's not hereafter. If so they chose poorly what name to keep. 10+ years ago Shazam- whatever one- left me hanging on a lot of my queries. I assume it's because I don't listen to any commercial or commercial adjacent music. I suppose it's better now but not as perfect as many reviewers say.

(read end edit) Just like soundhound, it doesn't work. Humming doesn't work and even singing OR EVEN JUST NORMAL TALKING. Would not recommend. Edit,, I just returned to this and like how many braincells do I have it's a song ofc talking won't work??? U can get extra star but it still ain't work. I will retry though since my iq might at least be in the double digits now. Edit,, it's actually pretty good. Not perfect but even if it's not the actual song but some instrument thing it kinda gets it!

  • It was perfect, until the updated started Oct 29, 2017

I really really think this app has a ton of potential and definitely has a beautiful look and nice features. But the reasons I'm giving this app 3 stars is because #1 it has difficulty with identifying 50% of my songs or it says "no lyrics", #2 it needs an auto identifier mechanism so I don't have to keep tapping it to identify a song. The other music id apps has those features but too commercials and ads. I'm holding on to this app with the hopes that you guys can upgrade. Fingers crossed. 🤞🏾

It used to be great, finding almost every song, but now i dont know what happened (they might be hacked even) that it can not find any song and it just makes up a different song to every song i try, even ones that it used to find within a second. There is something wrong i suppose, so there is always other apps that work :( FIX IT PLEASE SHAZAM!
  • Missing auto Oct 7, 2017

You guys got rid of the auto button. I NEEDED that to tag the songs I listened to while driving! Update: I figured out the new auto button like a minute after I wrote this review, so I'm changing it to 3 stars. I'm still having an issue with push notifications. That hasn't been working in over a year! I've seen multiple FAQs about that and they all say to change it in settings. However, whenever I try to find the toggle in settings (both in the app and on my phones settings) the option isn't there. I literally have nothing that can turn on and off the push notifications! You will get 5 stars when you give me that option back!

Well that's awesome. I deleted My Shazam Tracks in Spotify hoping it was fixed, as you say, and now it doesn't even create the playlist in Spotify. So now we go from syncing 92 of my 555 Shazams to zero. I'd call this an upgrade failure! Please "fix"! ("Syncing new Shazams to your “My Shazam Tracks” playlist should now work more reliably." - what does "should now work more reliably" actually mean?)
  • Fair to Good application Nov 18, 2020

Really the only worthwhile application for identifying music and/or songs from different sources. Now, that being said, there has been a deterioration in the accuracy and/or ability to even identify music and/or songs for about the past two to three years. I am not sure what it is, or if it’s platform specific, but has been increasingly more difficult to identify pieces of music/song with this app., say within the year or two. However, since it is the only viable app available for this purpose. I just really wish it was more reliable ☹️🙄.

Evn those i knew n were popular .. wth ?

Hasn't been working for months now. It doesn't work in my personal or my work phone. "There was a problem with your shazam" is the only result I get when trying to recognize a tune. I saw this advice online telling to empty the app cache etc. I did that, the app worked for one tune and then stopped working again. FIX THIS.

Keep getting: No Result - Sorry, we didn't quite catch that. Microphone works fine and permissions granted. Tried with common songs also. Been using the app for 10 years or so, this happened about a year ago but somehow resolved itself. Now I can't use the app at all
