This wonderful app, is a must have app! It allows me to find music globally! I use it to find out who the artist is, from the singers to the backup musicians in the group. On radio’s, television, to movie soundtracks in the theaters! From all generations! Don’t know what I’d do without it! Saves my sanity, now that they’ve closed almost every record store in Hawaii! The hours I use to spend in my youth. Reading and researching all kinds of music, looking for something new to share with my family and friends. Now I have it all at my fingertips in seconds! With the option to watch in on videos, or download to my phone. I can share it online on my Facebook page, with my friends and family in the mainland. Along with the great island music, we have here in Hawaii! I can’t live without it now! So addicted! Do yourself a favor and download “Shazam App” immediately! Luv & Aloha Kathi Jo

I was using an app from sony on an old xperia but they discontinued the app, been using this for a year or two now, helps when finding a song from a movie or the show I'm watching, since upgraded to a new phone I get an issue now and again it keeps the app open and recording for songs apparently, manage to get it cancelled but it happens again over time

I've had this problem with just a few apps...that I didn't just delete, or with whos developers I am still fighting to have them stop billing me; you get the app (and in this case, pay $4.99), it works great, and you really enjoy using it, or in the case of a navigational app, you depend on it. Then, the update notices start. And it sounds all good to you, so update. Right now this app has been in some state of suspended, useless limbo. The message states that "even though you have paid for this app," it cannot be updated unless you connect to your computer, open iTunes or whatever, Blah, Blah, Blah. I am no where near my Mac. Is this developed for a Mac computer, or for an iPhone? I must have been mistaken, because I thought it was the latter. Screw your poorly designed improvements, and give me back the original app. Too many app developers are travelling this road. It's highley problematic. Only a cell phone company could screw up a Mac product, and really, Mac, get a tighter reign on this kind of thing. You don't look open and innovative, you look stupid and out of control.

EDIT: Tray icon added. Now I can instantly launch 5 Stars, like I promised, leaving my original review intact... OK so far... But I just want a button in the notification tray, I don't want the bubble on screen the entire time. Sure, I can move it around, but that's a pain. If there is some way to ONLY have something in the notification tray, it's 5 stars otherwise.

I have used Shazam for so many years.. I use it all the time because music is a passion for me... music is a part of me.. my friends used to tease me in a restaurant or store If background music was playing & I heard anything that I might be interested in, but didn’t know who was making that beautiful sound.. I always whip out my phone & hit Shazam, I’ve built many of playlist from shazamed music, many times of music I would’ve never heard of if not for my ...shazamed from my Shazam’s... I am a fan if not a Shazam addict I’m sure there are other similar apps but I guarantee from experience this one is tried and true dependable!!

Like many others, I'm uninstalling Shazam due to Shazam recently adding a persistent notification alert that can't be dismissed. Sorry Shazam, I don't need your un-dismissible spam cluttering my notification area, especially when I only use your app a few times a year. Whoever added the un-dismissible notification to the app deserves to be fired and never work in the tech industry again!

When I first got Shazam it was great! Then you did some upgrades and changes which were not so good; however several months later you did additional upgrades which again made the app great! However recently the app keeps blanking out on me will not retain my Shazam history and I am very frustrated by this as I am trying to retain my history in order to purchase music. I have at times Shazam music and found a new artist that I like and then purchased several songs by those artists later even introducing those artist to other people. The retained history is now too difficult to access! You need to repair the problems with Shazam or you will start losing customers me to start with! You are making too many efforts to try to get me to upgrade purchases to the product it is something that I, as well as many others, do not enjoy having foisted on us, so please stop keeping us from using our product simply in an effort to attempt to get us to purchase upgrades. Back in the day that was called a bait and switch and in most states is it legal! Make what we purchased user friendly and we will NOT be searching for other apps to ID and purchase new and old music!

When I installed the app on November of last year, I expected it to pick up most, if not, all music. No... it didn't. The main issue is I can't have ANY OTHER noise playing in the background, otherwise I'll just get my expectations too high and it will say "Sory, try again, you dumb Imbecile!" Frick you Shazam! You have green piss! Just get Spotify or Sound hound. End of story.

Pretty good app and it works great, but frustrating that I've got a bug where I don't even have the notification bar Shazam option on and it persists there unable to be disabled when I press on it. I have to agree with another review, it feels kinda intrusive when I can't turn it off and it continues to listen to everything. After seeing that so many other people have this issue I'm deleting the app until it's solved.

  • I LOVE IT SO MUCH I UPGRADED!... then lost 2 years of musical search history :-/ Jun 17, 2019

    By jobengals86
Works fine. Everything has been linked with my Facebook since day 1. I used the free version for a long time, stored a bunch of history in there and then ... all i did was press the upgrade button because hey, screw commercials if you use an app this much, right? There's also ZERO distinction between the look of the app's digital cover of itself on your screen between the free and paid version - WHY? Neither the free or paid version are linked up with each other in any contiguous way; they’re just two duplicates of the same app, one with ads and one without. So after upgrading and linking all my musical accounts to everything ..... there’s no more history of any of my Shazams. Two stars because it works the exact same way as the free version. Don’t give them your money until they fix these issues; it’s MUCH more worth it to bear a few ads and commercials if it means having your Shazam history, at least in my opinion.

  • Love it, but, stop forcing Apple Music on me Oct 27, 2020

    By Lil'Bunny5
I LOVE Shazam and how it helps me find the names of obscure songs. Call me old school but I still like making my own playlists. I like hearing what I want, in the order I want to hear it. It’s worth paying for the song and supporting the artist. However, it seems like there was some sort of partnership that occurred in the past year that makes it harder to navigate from there to iTunes to buy the song. You have to hit a few more buttons than before. It definitely seems like the app’s preference is for you to subscribe to Apple Music. Just a heads up.

Dear Shazam I happy with you congratulations to you. I will say here real. Yr app takes a smell of music and before wording its tell song name but I am little sad here because its not search local music. Some time local singers sing best then original on stage with original tune and music or in private STUDIO. Yr app only catch original music not a song which is sing by many siner. And its dont find a song if I will sing its lyrics. Hope sir you wil improve it. its a hard work but hope to you

  • So glad this App is here Jul 24, 2019

So glad that I bought this app. The free version was good ( I don’t even know if there is anymore? Was a while ago for me). I bought it because I just wanted a little more. To make sure I got the most out of it and it could save all my music finds. (Like I said it was a while ago and my memory is terrible)....... I gave it a 4 out 5 because sometimes the songs I tired to Shazam don’t get found. Maybe my location or cell service WiFi who knows. Or it could be it’s new or freestyle or something ? I have no idea.. Possibly be because they’re not “Shazamable”? Nun the leased I’m glad I have this app. I’ve Shazamed close to over 500 songs. Definitely worth. Get it!!!

  • But you say … ?! Mar 4, 2020

I'm trying to track down a system wide bug on my phone (sometimes an app crashing immediately is you) and I have updates in my queue for Shazam and Shazam Encore. There's a note near the most recent update, from 6 days ago (it's 3/4/20) that Shazam Encore's no longer supported. Odd. Maybe it's not hereafter. If so they chose poorly what name to keep. 10+ years ago Shazam- whatever one- left me hanging on a lot of my queries. I assume it's because I don't listen to any commercial or commercial adjacent music. I suppose it's better now but not as perfect as many reviewers say.

Useful for identifying some music I don't usually listen to. But not all songs can be discovered this way, some are unshazamable (always return no result no matter how many times I tried identifying the particular songs). In addition, even if the song has lyrics, when it is shazamed the song has no lyrics at all within Shazam or the song does not use real-time scrolling lyrics within Shazam.

You guys got rid of the auto button. I NEEDED that to tag the songs I listened to while driving! Update: I figured out the new auto button like a minute after I wrote this review, so I'm changing it to 3 stars. I'm still having an issue with push notifications. That hasn't been working in over a year! I've seen multiple FAQs about that and they all say to change it in settings. However, whenever I try to find the toggle in settings (both in the app and on my phones settings) the option isn't there. I literally have nothing that can turn on and off the push notifications! You will get 5 stars when you give me that option back!

  • Humming and concerts are it's weakness Jan 23, 2018

    By ORHobbes
This is obviously a great doing detection service. There are just two shortcomings... 1) It cannot detect songs by humming the way that SoundHound can. That's a huge problem when you have a song in your head but don't know many of the words. If SoundHound can identify the song from just humming it, then why can't Shazam? 2) It struggles identifying songs when you are at a live concert, whereas SoundHound seems to always figure the song out. Again, a huge weakness compared to their competitor. Shazam has other advantages such as camera scanning, but the humming and concert features would be far more useful. Hopefully now that Apple owns Shazam, they have the resources available to fix these two shortcomings in doing detection.

  • LOVE THIS APP...now I’m not so sure Oct 19, 2017

    By Darkkeep
I've been using Shazam since it was first released and it is STILL my go to app for any smart phone device. This app WAS my go to and I supported several artists by being able to find them and purchase their music. Now Shazam has started “The Hit List” which blocks you from discovering certain artists. All I’ll say is...shame on you. If this is going to be the new common occurrence...I’ll be removing the app.

Sometimes this app identifies song info correctly... other times, I will attempt to identify the same song 5 times with it giving me a different match every time. At the moment I’m having an issue with when the Shazam app opens, it will immediately freeze the music playing from my other app (SoundCloud), which happens to be the track I’m trying to identify.

Was the 1st app I ever downloaded but it's not what it used to be. It's not as easy to use nor good at finding about a song as in the past. My guess is that it started going down hill when it was acquired by Apple...rarely a good sign when an arrogant corporation swallows up a nice, unassuming, easily navigated app & begins to try to wring out as much income as they can before its popularity fades. There goes the neighborhood.

  • Latest Shazam update is horrible (v11.9.1) May 8, 2018

    By iomracer
With the latest update of Shazam you cannot remove Shazam’ed songs. Your list sync’s with their servers and retains everything you Shazam’d, even if you used the ‘remove from my Shazam’ function, the songs come back. Also, when looking up artists it no long tells you how many people have Shazam’d that artist. But worse, you cannot just click ‘follow’ (or ‘unfollow’) an artist from that tab - you have to go to My Shazams and unfollow one at a time. At least the song recognition feature remains intact. I Shazam many less popular songs (e.g. those broadcast by KCRW) and it gets 99% of them.

Unlike musicmatch which has an option to make the pop up bigger. I haven’t found anything like this in shazam. So when its slightly off sync the experience is horrible. Please fix it. I love this app

It was fine until I got a notification that I can't slide away. Basically if I tap on that notification the app listens to everything... And for the sake of 'comfort' by automatically identify when a song is playing I'm giving away my privacy. If I want to identify a song I'll just open the app. For being so intrusive, I'm removing this from my phone. At least have the courtesy to allow simple swipe to remove this unnecessary notification.

Mostly it just guesses the song and usually it's wrong. Most of the guesses don't even sound similar. It also tries to get you over to Apple products and services. We need Google Sound Search back. On top of that now it's been made to be as intrusive as possible. Always on, whether in use or not, after requiring access to record audio 🤔
