I use this for pathfinder, and honestly this app is amazing. As of September 2019, the app is updated very often. It doesn't have everything in pathfinder, but it has tools you can use to add custom things that you either homebrew or that simply aren't in the app yet. The app works beautifully and is very intuitively designed, I have very few complaints. I'd say the only problem I sometimes have is when I can't override some obscure feature, but in that case I usually just make a note of it. I use this as a supplement for my character sheets because it's a lot easier to create character concepts (especially on the go) without having to go to the trouble of storing another sheet for a character I may or may not get to use. If you're new, it does all the math for you and shows you how everything is calculated, which can help a lot. I know the abundance of stats you have to keep track of in pathfinder can be intimidating, but with this app it's a breeze generally. I wish I had something like this when I first started playing years ago. Edit: December 2019 and still going strong with the updates!

This App is amazing for all things Pathfinder first edition! All the math is done for you and is done accurately. Often times it will properly add bonuses that I forget about. Character creation is super easy and so are level ups. Most magic items are perfectly integrated and all of the rules are right on the app. The best part is that if something isn't quite working right or you have something hombrewed it is amazingly easy to add in. I really enjoy using and would highly recommend this app!

  • Great app, but maybe not if you like tons of non-standard options Dec 17, 2018

I’m not normally one to pay for an app, but I think that this one was worth the $2.99 for the app itself and the $4.99 for the Pathfinder upgrade. I play in a play-by-post group and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been out somewhere and unable to update because I needed to refer to something on my character sheet, which I keep at home on my computer! I especially love that it makes all most of the calculations you need for you. That said, it does not have every single Pathfinder option ever released. Among the things missing, I noted story feats, animal companion-specific feats, the elemental arcane schools for wizards, as well as most magical items that aren’t worn in one of the slots and many of the mundane items, though you can add some of those yourself. I also could not figure out how to add magic properties to weapons, though that may be a user error on my part. But if you don’t need to venture too deeply into every PF option ever offered, this app should work just fine for you.

Excellent app for 3.5e and Pathfinder 1e. In terms of Paizo content, Pathbuilder is better for PF1e however this supports custom classes which Pathbuilder does not. It's 3.5e support is top notch with no comparable app afaik. My only complaint is that I don't see a way within the Pathfinder side of things to change the damage type of a custom weapon (for context, Mystic Bolts on a Warlock Vigilante).

  • Great App, especially for casual/new/returning players May 31, 2020

It had been a couple decades since I played D&D. I picked up this app a couple years ago for a Pathfinder campaign. I thought it was useful/cool enough at the time to drop a couple bucks and pick up the expansion. But our campaign fizzled out after a short time and it sat unused until a couple weeks ago. This app makes creating a character a breeze even for novice players. Equipment management took a little bit to figure out how to use, but it works great once you understand what’s going on. What was once a rather daunting exercise in “getting up to speed” to create/manage a character is now simple and mostly automated. I recommend having the Players Handbook available to reference tables and descriptions while using the app, though the built in descriptions are really good too. Game play with the app is fantastic. Swap weapons, manage conditions, leveling up; it’s all pretty straight forward and logical. Props and a big “Thank you” to the devs.

  • Incredible Value App Feb 8, 2020

This application is what I’m going to recommend my friends use to get started with Pathfinder. It’s very complete, and updated frequently enough that I’m very happy with things overall. The biggest issues are easily remedied, that’s the interface. Other PC software has better, easier to read and navigate interfaces. I wish they would work on this, but especially overhaul the main page with larger Icons so it’s easier to view. The character summary page is ok, but it’s sort of a wall of text thing that could be made much better with some good graphic designers.

I’ve started messing around with this app and as a guy who uses pcgen a lot this isn’t the best but it is definitely helpful. The expansion definitely provided more options and is fun to play around with. I’d like to see the CMB broken down to each skill and the ability to enchant equipment properly not with just spell like abilities. Then there are the missing combat styles that should be there, as well as possibly adding in support for templates and everything revolving around 3.5 which in my opinion is still way better than 5e. It is what it is though and I do like where this is headed.

  • Needs more 3.5 Updates, almost a year. Jan 27, 2020

    By MR. A (Clan E.W.!)
The 3.5 section needs lots of updating, but just providing the ability to better customization would help overcome these problems. . With Improved Familiars out there it would be nice to be able to create our own, especially when the current list is so small. . There is no access to all the “Special Feats” in the program file such as the Paladin’s Lay on Hands/Divine Grace, a Monk’s AC Bonus, Ranger’s Combat Style, or Mystic Theurge’s Spells per Day . Creating a custom character class or copying then editing an existing class is not currently possible. It makes playing in a customizable world with a flexible DM difficult. (NOW AVAILABLE - AWESOME!) Making Donation for this!! Gold Heart Sent!!! . I’d even pay for a Customization expansion pack, please make this happen! . Don’t take this review the wrong way, this is still the best character app for D&D 3.0-3.5!! . I’d start dropping more cash if I could spell out the changes I would like added!!!

  • Good, but Nov 18, 2018

Having never played pathfinder I thought I would use this app to help me out. Now with that said I’ve some of the books and figures this would make it easier. Then I started using it and the areas I wanted help with it was lacking. It’s also missing several hybrid classes. Now yes they have added some so it’s heading in the right direction. So I thought adding them would be simple and it’s relatively easy but then you can’t make your own archetypes. Ok fine. The copy option makes it easier. But then when I went to finalize some ideas, I went to change racial traits and couldn’t do that either. I figured the app would make it easier to keep track of what I had replaced. And it does, by not having that option. Now it does have some traits. And it has pretty much every feat ever, but it’s equipment section seems lacking to me. Overall it’s good but for what I wanted it either doesn’t seem to have what I want or it’s hidden.

  • Great for 3.5e Core, Useless for anything else Mar 18, 2019

    By AKSMountainBiker
Whoever said this app supports supplemental rule books is entirely wrong, at least as far as D&D 3.5 is concerned. Only supports core PHB1 classes, and custom class creation is useless as it doesn’t support by-level stats or custom effects (e.g. Warmage edge, which I get in particular might be hard to do in a generic way), but 3.5 has been out so long there is no reason to not support additional classes. For the core classes, however, it does excel, despite small bugs such as failure to calculate skill synergies during entry (does show them correctly afterwards, but can be disconcerting while entering) and clumsy entry support for special items (have to add them to your “backpack” first, and then add them to your worn equipment. Would be easier to be able to add from either and specify worn at the time). If the developer could address its shortcomings, it would be the best character tracking app bar none.
