I use this app on my Resound Lynx 3D which I purchased about six months ago. Love the hearing aid, the app, not so much. The recent app update seems to be problematical. Previous version worked fine. Deleting the app and reinstalling it to get it working is frustrating. Hope the next version resolves the connection issues. Update: Ended up buying a new LG V40 ThinQ cell phone. Problems resolved. The app now works the way it should.

Something has happened to the app. It worked fine for 4 months and then went haywire. I've reinstalled it four times and still it works intermittently. When I got the aids the audiologist checked the list for compatible phones so that's not it. What's going on? August 11 and I still have to restart the app every time I want to make an adjustment. It's very inefficient.

  • Toggle ‘Demo Mode’ instead of reloading the app! Feb 23, 2020

    By Luv FPGAs
Instead of reloading the app multiple times, I toggle ‘Demo Mode’ ON then OFF to fix the “hearing aides not found” problem. I am running iOS 13.3.1 and very seldom lose the Bluetooth hardware connection it’s self, but the app connection does get lost several times a day. Toggling the demo mode ALWAYS cures it for me!!! For those that recently updated the Resound Smart 3D app and has been plagued with the persistent red exclamation mark, I got it to go away on my iPhone 6S by tapping on the lower right ‘More’ selection and then turn on ‘Demo mode’. Now select the ‘My Resound’ and you will see what the exclamation marks are trying to tell you. I suspect everyone is going to have slightly different reasons, just tap on each one to open a dialogue screen with a brief description and decide for yourself if you want it to perform the action. After you are done browsing the reasons to make the red exclamations disappear, go back to ‘More’ and turn off ‘Demo mode’ to re-enable controlling your hearing aids. Note, one of the items might be to update your hearing aids themselves, do this at your own risk! Don’t blame me if things don’t work like they use to, or differently, or what ever. I’m just the messenger!

Refresh Button is needed... However, this android app is excellent given the fact I rather not use an IPhone. The app works great for me. I would give it 5 stars if I could refresh the app to reconnect to my hearing aids instead of stopping the app (or having to switch Bluetooth off/on on my hearing aids) and restarting it to connect; a simple enhancement. Nevertheless, I've had my Resound hearing aids for less than a week. It is AWESOME to have this app!!!! UPDATE 16 days: This app is worthy of 5 STARS except it has one big imperfection; connectivity. When this app is on top of the other apps and has the focus, it shows me the status that my hearing aids are not connected which serves absolutely no purpose. Its sole purpose is to connect and control my hearing aids by automatically attempting to connect to the paired hearing aids. Given this simple enhancement, I would gladly give 5 stars. ----NO----, the suggested tips do not help at all. Fix the app to do what it is intended to do, connect to paired hearing aids without me having to switching the hearing aids off/on OR stopping and restarting the app. Read the post from so many others that are complaining about the same connection problem. Downgrading to 3 stars...

The bluetooth connection constantly disconnects...rendering my aid basically useless..very annoying! Can't wait for the company to update their system for Android users! I have a Galaxy S8 and it would be beneficial for me to uplink my aid to my phone. These two issues I hope get resolved very quickly! Hearing aids are NOT CHEAP! The aids themselves are awesome!! But, a faulty app is really making regret my purchase.... Other than that, I love the operating system! The app is user friendly.

  • Annoying Updated version!!! Oct 30, 2019

Update on what I posted last week. Once again, after several problem-free days, my iPhone found and connected to my hearing aids, but my Smart3D app simply wasn’t up to the challenge! So I can use the phone to select either All Around or Restaurant, but I have no way to choose the Speech Clarity profile contained within either of those two, and it is the Speech Clarity profile that makes it worth HAVING these hearing aids! So, another half hour wasted, disconnecting and reconnecting the hearing aids, shutting and restarting my phone, deleting and reinstalling the 3D app, and repeating those things just in a different sequence. I guess I’ll just have to wait until tomorrow and HOPE that things will be different!!! Ever since I downloaded the latest update maybe 2 weeks ago, after having extremely few problems for the past full year, my experience with app has been all downhill. I’ve had to “accept” the terms of the consent agreement almost every day, and on half those days I got the message “Ooops, something went wrong. Contact your provider”. In addition, although my iPhone instantly “finds” my hearing aids every morning, the app doesn’t connect with them very often, leaving me to depend on the more limited controls of the iPhone. I repeat, these are all NEW daily problems. Ever since I got my hearing aids and began using the app, I had been showing off its ease of use and capabilities to all my friends. But alas, not any more!!!

  • Fine hardware, substandard app Feb 11, 2020

    By EricBandt
I’ve been using the app for about a year now, because I have to. Yes, I could push the buttons on the earpieces, but I can’t tweak the equalizer that way. Plus, counting beeps is a pretty slipshod way of tracking which program is which. But the app. It’s the connectivity that’s the issue. I don’t remember the last time I opened the app and the hearing aids just connected. It doesn’t happen. Open the app, wait a bit. Close the app. Reopen. Usually, that does it, but not always. Sometimes, it’s close the app, disconnect Bluetooth, wait a bit, reconnect Bluetooth, try the app again. Maybe twice more. I have to start futzing with the app five minutes before I get on a call just to be sure my settings will be right and that I’ll actually be able to hear. Hopefully the hardware has a number of good years left, but when the time comes for yet another set, if the app hasn’t improved exponentially, I’ll be switching brands. Perhaps the app developers think of this like a bad solitaire game that you can delete if you don’t care for it, but this app impacts my day to day ability to function in the world. And it impacts where thousands of dollars in future revenue will go. It’s fairly inexcusable that it’s so poor.

This Most recent update: Version 1.7.6 will not pair with my hearing aids. Everything was working great but then I updated the app and now it won’t pair. They are paired just fine with my iPhone. I see them under Accessibility. I have deleted the app, re downloaded it, rebooted my devices, some the forget these devices, put new batteries in the hearing aids but the app refuses to pair. The My iPhone X pairs just fine with them so I am controlling the volume through Settings but it does not allow the fine tuning I use on occasion. It has to be the app. Fail. Update: after trying dozens of times to get my hearing aids to pair I finally succeeded tonight. The app was finding my hearing aids but refusing to pair. These are the steps IN ORDER that I followed tonight that finally worked. Under settings tell your phone to Forget this device—forget the paired hearing aids. Then download the app. Follow the steps to have the app find your hearing aids. You may have to let it search multiple times. When the app says it has found your hearing aids you just return to Accessibility under Settings and follow the steps to pair the hearing aids. Return to the app and it will attempt to pair the app. If you get a Red X with a failed pair, allow it to try again. I finally got a green check mark and I am paired now. You cannot have the aids already paired through the Settings app before starting the Smart 3D app.

If you’re going to put a $6,000 price-tag on a device and claim it has a certain functionality, it better work and work well. The interconnectivity of the aids and app work...just not well. The hearing aids frequently try to hijack the audio feed, even when the source is set to “never”. This is particularly annoying when trying to view a webpage that has any sort of media as the hearing aids with almost always try to grab the audio. The developers of this app are simply very lazy and the company seems content to take the money its customers spend and not reinvest in the technology we’ve paid for. Well guess what? I’m still in my trial period, and there are plenty of other hearing-aids with app connectivity out there. These just might be going back. UPDATE 6/9: I find it interesting that I have several headphone sets that cost less than $200, and each of them can handle audio hand-offs without issue (or without resorting to blaming iOS for their products failure to live up to expectations). Give me results, resound, not excuses!

You connect these like you would connect any Bluetooth device but through the accessibility group under settings. Then scroll down to “hearing devices”. At the top of the next screen it will be looking for your aids. Open and close the battery door with batteries inside of course. Wait about 10 seconds and at the top box you should see the Resound name and L and R for left and right. Push this. A new window opens and you will be asked to pair with your I-phone. Push that. Close the app out and then restart it. You should see you app looking for the aids. Success. You may close the app out before you do all the pairing stuff and then open when the pairing is done. If all this fails, try rebooting your phone which you should do weekly anyway or reinstalling the app. I have tried 6 apps from six different aids and although the aids all have possibilities, I choose Resound because of the app, as my hearing is variable from ear to ear so I need to custom the sound. Other apps do not compare. Two comments. Could use another band on the sound shaper. Your newest Quattro and Preza are too thick to wear comfortably with my glasses. Please slim them down and I will upgrade.

  • Recent iOS update seems to have messed things up Nov 16, 2019

    By CampeonJPM
I've had my resound aids for 18 months. I have used the app successfully until the most recent iOS update in October 2019. Now the programming of the app seems to change everyday. Some days I can't hear any of my streaming options. Other days the programming shows that streaming is set for the left side only while the right side receives the ambient noise. Often I must turn the demo on and off for the app to recognize the aids and power up the battery icon. I have deleted and reinstalled the resound app pass several times. If I'm lucky I hit the right combination of tricks and streaming works for a few days with additional application of tricks. Today I am back to no streaming. I hope I'm not the only one with trouble and that someone comes up with a fix quickly!

Update to previous problem .... iPhone X ios 13 and what has worked for me. Delete App, turn phone off and back on, reinstall App, turn Bluetooth off back on, open and then close aids battery ( I placed them on iPhone), and see if they connect to the App and check Settings, Accessibility, and then Hearing Devices on iPhone. Mine are now staying connected but still have the annoying ! on MyResound. Might try different selection processes but I think deleting and reinstalling App and turning iPhone off and on is the secret. Good luck! Try turning your iPhone off and back on. Works for me. Resound is a subsidiary of GN in Denmark and obviously not concerned about updating their product, unlike Apple. My hearing aids initially worked pretty good but now are starting to have connection problems also. If it continues I’ll take them back to Costco and let them deal with Resound.

  • Is the iOS update not syncing with this App? Nov 6, 2019

    By Keatz
I have been on this app for over a year and have been pretty impressed/ pleased for the most part. I enjoy being able to control the functionality of my hearing aids through my phone. With that being said, there are some issues since the latest IOS update. I have constant trouble with my hearing aids not connecting with the app. I have to reboot the apps/hearing aids multiple times daily to get them to work together. A lot of times the Bluetooth will work for calls and music/ video through only one hearing aid. Hopefully there will be a bug fix soon for the app as it is getting quite frustrating. You pay the money for a product and when it doesn’t function properly it’s as if it was money not spent well. Granted the App is free but come on guys, shouldn’t it work right all the time?

As the previous reviewer (Eric) well described, the hearing aids do not automatically connect to the app. I have the latest app, I have the latest IOS update. Every day, I still have to turn off the Bluetooth to the app (not the phone Bluetooth) and then turn it back on, go into the app and wait for the hearing aids to connect. Funny though, even if the devices are not connected, they still function and I can still hear a phone call through them - I just can’t adjust them or use one of the programs. Also, at one point last summer (2 IOS updates ago, I believe), I could actually hearing my text message alert sound in my hearing aid. Now I can’t once I updated IOS. That would be a really handy feature to have back .... It seems like every IOS update produces some odd change in the app or the ability to use the app.

Overall great app until I upgraded from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S20 + 5G, it was working for the first week, now the app not working to connect to my hearing aid. I had uninstall, reinstall the app, unpair and pair via Bluetooth to connect phone, still not connecting to app, However it still works without the app to making phone calls or streaming. Not happy.

App has the potential to be very useful, but it constantly loses touch with the hearing aids and the app has to be closed and rebooted to reconnect with the aids. It takes too long to be useful. Very disappointing after spending a tidy sum on the hearing aids. The 'Developer' subsequently contacted me and said I was using an incompatible phone, and referred me to a list of the phones that were verified for use - at no point in the comment above did I say what phone I was using, My phone IS on the list of verified compatible phones, and I have not experienced any problems with other Bluetooth devices. So this 'standard' response is as disappointing as the the app's inability to stay connected. It seems from the other comments that this is a common problem, and it is being dismissed by the developers as the user's fault for not having the right phone. The issue is in the software code - when the app loses connection with the Hearing Aids, there is no option to re-connect, you just have to reboot the app. The hearing aids are good, but this one fault in the app makes it very frustrating to adjust your hearing aid settings without drawing attention to the process of re-opening the app and the time that takes. It would be much much better if the app simply tried to re-connect (rather than just reporting that the aids are not connected) In writing this I am trying to help improve what could be a very good product!

One of the worst apps I have ever had to use. Slow to load. Often can't find aids, switches to Demo mode and gets stuck there. All adjustments need to be done manually and initiation is slow. If there was an alternative I'd switch in a minute. Developer proposes a 5 step process for multiple users addressing these problems. Why not just admit the app is buggy, make a fix, and send on update? Update...developer (or Marketing?) claims app isn"t buggy. When's the last time they tested this POS?

Every time I open the app, it has to reconnect to the hearing aids. Often times, that doesn’t work, and I need to restart the app. The connection to the Apple Watch is useless. Even when I launch the app first on my phone and have my phone right next to the watch, I rarely can connect. Defeats the purpose of the desire to discretely adjust settings when in public. The hearing aids hijack my hands-free system in my car, too. ReSound’s customer service is sorely lacking. My audiologist told me to call ReSound with my questions; the person who handled my call told me to talk to my audiologist or the Apple store (talk about a runaround). I then tried to reach ReSound through their Facebook page, and they didn’t even respond. The Apple store tried to help, but were not able to improve on any of the challenges I experience with this app. My audiologist bragged how ReSound hired Genius Bar employees to make this app; well, I think they picked up some “geniuses” at some “bar” who had had a few too many. Seriously, not everyone who wears hearing aids is a 85 year old with few technological expectations. If you’re going to promote a hearing app that’s specifically designed for an iPhone, make sure it’s going to perform as promised.
