  • True Classic, great game Jul 13, 2020

This game is a true classic. It’s detailed and such a time killer. If you are iffy about the graphics, then what you see is not what you will get. This is an amazing game, and even better is the (third) Rebuild. The graphics here could use a little work, but that is what the third one is for. Anyway, I can’t allow myself to give this 4 stars because the saving system isn’t very easy. You cannot easily delete save files, so it’s just going to take up a random one if you want a new game. Unfortunately for me, it took up my main save file. I even tried to go to a test save file which had around 350 survivors in it. I tried to kill all of them (I succeeded, turn on Winter mode and let the starvation occur), but could still not rid of the file. But I really do recommend this game. It’s only troubling if you have four saved files. Oh, and also, this game could use a lot more depth. Some of the events are a bit vague, but then again this was definitely changed in the third Rebuild.

I've loved this game since its flash version on PC, when it was Rebuild 2, and lemme tell ya'll; This is a game you can play again and again and never grow bored of. Multiple endings, dozens of scenarios, difficulty and town size, all of these things create a massively different game each time its picked up. You can even beat the game and still lose after its ending. It was one of my favorite games of all time before, and it's become my favorite all over again.
  • Great game, but the winter, well... Mar 11, 2015

I actually played this game on armer-games a long time ago. It's as fun as I remember it, and it seems to me that the creator(s) of the game made it a bit more difficult that it's older counterpart. The only reason I can't give this a full 5 stars is because of the winter setting. There is this unbearable spike in difficulty when all of the farms just stop working. I know that is part of the problem with winter, but you can't develop a means of any kind with the laboratories, builders, or anyone for that matter. I tried scavenging for enough food to keep my city afloat, but there wasn't enough to collect, either. A fix to this would be, during the winter, if you have all the agricultural stuff upgraded to max, you can develop greenhouses that give half of what a normal farm gives; until you upgrade that to max. I like how the game is during the rest of the game, but tweaking that would do wonders for it as well.

Following the rebuild series you can’t be disappointed! I’m always looking for good games on the App Store that isn’t all about in app purchases and waiting. This is a great one, this and Rebuild 3 are both worth the money you pay. This one makes me think of rebuild 2 more than rebuild, both of which you can play online for free or get on steam, but having the mobile option is great. This one is a bit different from rebuild 3 but it what made me fall in love with the series, the developers work hard and it really pays off, if you have the money and are looking for a really good game, your search is over :)

Fun to play, I used to play this back when I was a kid on the computer. However, the difficulties are a bit wonky. Everything up to and including challenging is super easy, but once you pick "seriously hard", you cant get a leg up. Constant raids, no food, everyone dies randomly despite there being no risk of it. Makes the game less entertaining and more just "Alright, im done, whatever"

This is awesome. Easy to pick up and play a few turns, then a few more, then just a few more. Really good music. Doesn't kill your battery. And best of all - zero ads and zero 'buy this resource to get anywhere.' You just pay for the game and go have fun. No blood sucking corporate types trying to squeeze $$$ out of you every month. Looking forward to trying Rebuild 3.

Multiple difficulty modes, map sizes, victory conditions... and not a microtransaction or ad to be seen. You get what you pay for. Not a complex game, but a great way to kill time and write your own story for the desperate, hardened group of survivors under your care. More of a simulation game with events being abstracted by numbers and diary notes from the survivors.

I find that sometimes I can’t find a game entertaining or challenging enough to sit through. It’s monotony drives me crazy or the simply isn’t enough for my gaming palette. The games that make a lasting impact are really hard to find. For me this is one of my favorites. Just found out they have a rebuild 3! Totally gonna try that one.

I get why rebuild 3 requires you to buy, but this not so much, especially since you can play it on pc for free on any game website, so the question is why do i pay to play it. I enjoy rebuild alot and a have completed it multiple times on multiple endings eveb getting all the endings at once, so what is the point in playing a simple game if you have to buy it. Its a waste of money when you can play it on PC for free.

First time out I played the easy mode as a "tutorial" , way to easy so next time out i stepped it up a notch. Wow, talk about unbalanced difficulty levels. You either starve to death within a few rounds, or you scavenge for scraps to keep people fed and everyone gets injured and the dead take over the city because you have no one to guard the fort. Not a bad concept, just badly implemented. Unistalled, guess im out $3.

Id consider myself a critic when it comes to reviewing games. I have high standards, even if it was made for the IOS. This game fell short. It lacks any real depth, and has you reliant on chance for pretty much the whole game. It gets repetitive rather quickly, and i found myself getting bored within an hour or two of playing. Its a little different than most games you find, which is nice, but not worth the price. Search elsewhere if you want a game that draws you in and makes you think strategically.
  • Fraud! Jun 4, 2017

Once I got to the "seriously hard" level, I realized there is no winning that board. Every step forward towards progress, you are overwhelmed with zombie attacks, food shortages, desertions and so on…three steps backwards. I tried every permutation and yet I cannot not prevail because the creators have cheated the players. Shame on you. Addendum: still a crap game with no improvement after all these years.

99% of survivors are non-white and the continuous use of their terms (example: "those mysoginists!") Aside from that, it's just not that fun. Farming is so bad there is no difference from placing a survivor with a scavenging of 6 from one with 0 even on "a big farm".

I bought this for the sheer curiosity and to give a review for others. The pics in the App Store definitely didn't do much to draw me in but the description sounded interesting so I tossed in my $0.99 and off I went. This feels like a Civilization version of 28 Days Later or The Walking Dead. Music reminds me of both programs. Gameplay is a lot of reading and very little interaction such as mini-games or building. You scavenge, you build, you fight zombies... But all your actions and results are given in the form of hand-written notes or static art. I guess for folks that can get into a story-driven zombie survival story without any actual action, then it may be worth the $1. But I play iPad games to either kill time or because they are more fun than anything else going on at that moment. This game does neither, it actually made time slow down. Save your 99¢, go buy a track from The Walking Dead soundtrack and listen to that while you play SimCity. I deleted this from my iPad 30 minutes after purchasing it.

Fairly entertaining game managing your small group of zombie apocalypse survivors. You allocate resources, train your people and send them out to clear city blocks. Gameplay becomes a little repetitive and it's really hard if you start in winter - not sure if it's beatable above "challenging" level in winter. The 2 star rating is because of the crash bug. My ipad needed a reboot after being hung up for several minutes. Should not be released wIth a bug like that.

  • Too Easy Jan 20, 2014

    By Rubber Fist
Super fun game, but I dominated it 3 times in a row. By the second round it bumped my difficulty all the way up and it was still super easy. Got boring pretty quickly. Also let the user be allowed to destroy labs and schools. They should also add a regime management setting were you can set your ruling style. (i.e. High Alert, Laid Back, Hoarder, Exterminator) Each type would have different advantages and disadvantages allowing you to better adapt. New building type that would work is factory(upgrade and maintain equipment). Add specialized equipment slots(Armor, Weapon, Keepsake, Bag, Clothes, Special). Add trade and exploration missions outside town, just have people click on the boarder to activate. Have diplomacy with other towns. Add conditioning trait which judges how far a character can go while staying safe. Hope you read this.
  • Just like the original, but the original is free Nov 10, 2014

What I like is that since this was by a flash developer, is that she doesn't go out of her way to screw you over through as greedily as possible, so don't expect this to be a "zombie farm" sort of thing just because it's isometric. However, if you're at home, just look up the flash original and play it without paying, the advertising is enough to pay for the cheap rent on her tropical island. Of course, you can't bring your laptop or PC everywhere, so the mobile aspect of this version is well worth the price. P.S. However, the loading screen you have to deal with is especially annoying, if there's any way to deal with that, I hope you can find it
  • Love this game, however... Apr 17, 2012

    By 68Mark
In short, this game is great and is everything I was looking for in a city building app, however...I wish the graphics were a little more real. I don't need ultra realistic buildings, but maybe a little less like a loony tunes cartoon. The cartoon aspect is fine, just maybe a little more gritty. The choice of cartoony buildings seems odd to me especially since the cut scene graphics and other graphics are so edgy, almost like two people did the designing...and never spoke to each other about what they were doing. Anyway, despite the graphics, I truly enjoy this game and will likely keep on playing...All the while wishing it looked a little more like the situation it depicts.
  • A great flash game port Apr 23, 2012

    By The Bloody Cat
This is one of the few flash games I actually loved playing in the PC. I couldn't believe they ported it at the iOS when I first saw it. At first, I was skeptical about paying $3 for a game I could play for free on a flash game site. But all in all, it was worth it. So, if you have any qualms about playing this, just search for the flash game version of this and play the free full version there. There is, however, one thing I don't like about the iOS version. It's quite laggy. Maybe an option for lowering the graphics quality could help. I don't like waiting for a minute just to ordet my scientist to scout.

The all does have random crashes on my iPad 2 sometimes when I end my turn. Fortunately whenever I reload nothing seems to be lost and I simply end my turn again. Besides this bug, the game play is simple yet entertaining. Its a nice casual style, and I like being able to rename my characters and the outfits they have can be pretty funny. When I play we name all the characters after people we know (a la Oregon trail) and it makes it funny when they die. Havent played on the most difficult setting yet, but it's been pretty easy so far. Hope to see some updates soon :D

Well, the games addicting. I have beat all levels from easy to impossible on more than one occasion. However, I've noticed a bug, I have figured out 5 ways to win, that's 5 times the screen pops up and tells me I beat the game and to continue or quit. However the 5th time it pops up it still says number of way won 4! So that's and issue their. Also the cemetery has a pop up like its supposed to do something, but never does. Just empty! Is it supposed to be this way? I've saved the for last and tried every scenario but it doesn't seem to work?
  • Addicting, would like to see more Aug 5, 2012

This game is very addicting. I got it with the mindset "Eh, another zombie game" and then couldn't put it down! Good things about this game; simple, fun, nice graphics. Negative points; music was meh. Turned it off within half a minute. A little variation woulda been nice. Never could figure out what the mad scientist was about... Some suggestions that could be used for future development: make your character actually mean something in the game. As it is, there's no point creating a character in the beginning if they get lost and are basically another survivor on the list. Make them important, like if they lead the charge there's a bonus or, depending on skill level, they create a negative bonus. The Chosen religion should start causing trouble in the camp if they go on about their belief of Zombies. All in all, well worth the purchase price.

This game gets quite repetitive and I got bored rather quickly. There is not any building to the game, as buildings are already placed and just need to be clears of zombies and reclaimed. I do like that you only pay one time (no in-app purchases) and even though certain actions take multiple "days" to complete, you are in control of how long the days are.

Rebuild's got a nice and addictive turn-by-turn game, with a little humor and enough strategy and progression to draw you in quickly and eager to rebuild. There's two big problems though: 1) It crashes a ton. and more the longer you've been in a particular city. Which means the more you have invested, the more likely it is you'll be unable to proceed another turn, to the point you can't go 3-4m without a crash. 2) End-game is a monotonous grind. It's hard to figure out what to do next if you, say, need to repair a helicopter. At the same time, it's not that hard to get your characters up to their maximum skill level, at which point you'll probably have them sitting around twiddling their thumbs (since you won't equip them with anything), because you'll give the missions to people who can learn from them. I've got hopes we'll see a future patch that addresses whatever's going wrong here, but the frustration is crazy.

I agree with Rubber Fist on everything said except i found Winter to be hard: running low on food, again last I played the maxed food and resources were really low but I checked and they upped that. I would like the item bonuses to add to a maxed character trait, past 10! After a bit it gets boring. Expand the gameplay! My first run through i managed to get all the endings by saving once i had a nice corner built. The hoard of zombies shouldn't get smaller the more you reclaim either, there is a larger world beyond the borders. Ill 5 star it after a major update
  • Hardly Loads Jun 9, 2012

I love the game......when it actually loads. Do you know how frustrating it is to open and close an app 15-20 times just because it won't load? I ragequit a loading screen. A LOADING SCREEN. It's not because the load times are slow (which they are), it's the fact that the game won't load at all most of the time. But when it does load, it is one of the most addicting experiences you will ever have on an ipod/iphone. 3 out of 5 for the horrible load times and the inability to load at all most of the time.

This is a pretty good game at first I didn't know what I was doing but I have spent the past few days playing and am a little more skilled now but when I purchased it I expected it to be a little more then it is although it is a fun game to waste some time on I expected it to be like the build-a-lot type of games about zombies with a little something extra but it is nothing like that. I am at city 2 now and the only difference I see is a McDonalds type restaurant. I hope for some amazing new lands/more of a zombie fight not a card game almost.

this was great fun in flash on the PC and they have added a couple things since then but still needs work. id really like to see more buildings, actions, options even if it takes a sequel to do it. i bought it to support the devs since the pc version was free but reply for me isnt there without "more". add mini games (some sort of zombie shootout when they attack or something) if they come out with new stuff this version ill up the rating otherwise ill rate the sequel accordingly
