  • So I don’t usually rate things but... Jun 15, 2019

    By Muddy Winters
This app actually helped me quit. Not only quit though, but change my mentality to become a non smoker. It was actually easy for me too, I went cold turkey. I’ll give you background, if smoked for ten years, two packs a day for most of it. I was kind of a chain smoker. I kind of got tired of isolating myself to places where I could smoke. It was hard to sit through a movie, go to friends houses, rent a car, go on a plane trip.. cigarettes were ten dollars a pack! Things weren’t looking good. So I started looking for ways to quit: This app uses cognitive behavioral therapy, and is had good experiences with that while in high school, CBT helped me work through my anxiety. So to know you could quit with CBT was worth a try to me. I was scared though, that I would be deathly uncomfortable after I stopped smoking, but I wasn’t: we make our own experiences. I really didn’t think it would be so simple. I didn’t use patches or any nicotine replacement therapy, I thought I’d just give it a go. The first time I tried to just cut down to nothing, but someone told me if I have the self control to do that, then I can simply quit just as easily, if not easier. So that’s what I ultimately did. I used the premium version, but I think one can also use the free version just fine. To the developers of this app and this program, thank you! You might have saved my life, but for certain you’ve improved my life a great deal.
  • Premium is great! Oct 10, 2018

This app definitely works, I finally quit smoking after trying all different types of things like 1,000 times, but what makes it work, at least for me, is paying for the premium so you get access to a quit coach. Having someone to chat at, and be held accountable to, when you’re craving is waaaay better than the exercises, although they are good too. Premium is kind of expensive, like $40 for 3 months, but cheaper than smoking! And your quit coach gives you customized guidance and advice on how to handle your specific situations. It’s really nice to feel like you have someone in your corner in the fight against smoking. If you don’t want to pay the $40 then just try the app. It’s still super good. But, if you can swing it get the premium because it makes it so much easier.

I have yet to quit. However, when I am... this is going to be the best app ever. It shows you how much money you save. It tells you how many years you save, the different things that you get back from stopping! So many things I had no idea about. I'm so looking forward to editing this when I stop. I highly recommend this app!

Was super sceptical and protective of my smoking habit and scared about challenging it. However, just a few days with quit genius was enough to change my mentality. Now 8 days smoke free and identify as non-smoker. It has even made me significantly cut down on alcohol and tv because I recognise when I'm engaging in automatic rather than thoughtful behaviour. Couldn't recommend more.

Old review is below, but figured I’d update. I stuck with the app, and although I still find the Premium upsell touchpoints annoying, I’m raising my rating because I haven’t encountered any aggravating bugs in the more recent updates, and more importantly - I’ve found that even sticking with the free tier, the app works. It’s a good way to quit smoking. —— I really wanted to love this app. Even met one of the founders at a YC event. However, the app UX is just terrible. Almost every screen contains a surprise button that will bring up a full screen salepage for the subscription/premium service. Tapping “No, ask me later” in the “Log your cigarettes” section immediately triggers the app rating prompt, every single time. And twice, I’ve gotten into views somehow with no buttons, and no way out except killing the app (this is on an iPhone XS Max). Very disappointing!

  • Great app to get started Mar 4, 2019

I am beginning my journey to being a non-smoker...again. I have attempted this goal many times and have always slipped back into the addiction. But this time I am motivated and have hope for life long success. Why this app? Because it is teaching me a new way of thinking. There is no pressure. You take your own time to prepare for your quit day and do it when you feel ready. You get tools to help, advice from those who have been there, and an accountability system for your behavior and thinking related to smoking. I feel confident in my success this time. I am excited to come to the point where cigarettes no longer consume my thoughts and my health!

  • How much do you pay to smoke Jan 28, 2018

    By Marley Hope
I haven’t even tried this thoroughly yet but honestly idc if they charge. Most of us pay hundreds of dollars a month to smoke and that is just the cost of cigarettes. Do you know how much money chemo costs?? I am a Substance Abuse Counselor and I see asking people to invest financially as well as effort makes them more invested. Some treatment is free and it’s not about making money - it’s about how much more motivated we as humans are when we’re paying for something. We use it because we “want our moneys worth” Stop complaining and looking for an excuse to keep smoking. I’ll pay $2 a month all day long - that’s about the cost of my morning smoke sessions!

  • Was better before May 3, 2020

It’s been about a year and a half since I used this last. It helped me quit smoking but some rough stuff happened and I started again and abandoned this app. Now here I am looking to quit again so I start using this app again because it helped so much last time. It’s changed completely and not really in a good way. There used to be a handful of mini sessions to listen to when craving which were a tremendous help that were free and other ones you had to have the subscription to use that were also helpful. The subscription price has also gone up quite a bit. I don’t really use the personal coach and really just want the little sessions. But they are all locked. So are the after quitting sessions. It’s very disappointing that something that was amazing before has just gone down. The price isn’t the worst if you are a regular smoker but all I wanted was those craving sessions. They helped a lot and the only way to use them and really anything in the app is with the subscription. There used to be a variety of subscription types but now there’s just one. It’s just disheartening.
  • From great to terrible in one update. May 14, 2020

    By Bogrodo
I did actually quit smoking thanks to this app. Unfortunately the positive reinforcements that helped me quit in the first place have stated working against me since the last update. At the end of each day I am used to tap the “no” button where the app asks you “Have you smoked today?”. After you confirm you haven’t smoked you receive a badge and an inspirational message of sort. It seems like a small thing but it helped me stay smoke free for several weeks together with the counter. The problem is since the last update each time I try to select “no” the app crashes, so I get zero badge è zero inspirational message. And what’s even more frustrating is that if you select “yes” (which to be clear it means you have slipped and you did smoke) the app doesn’t crash, making me feel like the app now wants me to fail! My craving have gotten much worse since this glitch appeared and I don’t want to reinstall the app because I don’t want to lose my progress.

Craving and smoking logging is supper bugy. Sometimes works sometimes not, without any feedback if it worked or not. For almost $8/3months it's unbelievable the one of main functions doesn't work

Honestly quite dissatisfied with this app. I have been trying to cut back/quit smoking for months, and since I wasn't cutting back much on my own I thought I would download an app to help. At first I truly liked it, I especially liked that it had excersizes to help with anxiety. Some of the functions took more time to complete, and some of the excersizes were pretty pointless, but I decided to give it a go. After using it for an hour or so, I kept having notifications pop up over the page saying that I had to join a subscription of $60/3 months. I did not accept this, nor hit anything on the page. I would simply close and restart the app. After hours of realizing that I couldn't pass it, I decided to stop using it. Today, my second day using it, I woke up to my PayPal account notifying me that I have been charged $60. I have sent a complaint, and tried to cancel my subscription, but it will not be cancelled until January. I would've been fine spending money on something that truly helps me, but I don't think this app is nearly worth $20 a month. I have found free apps which I found were much more helpful.

I was really excited while reading about this app, but their payment plan setup is incredibly overpriced and sneaky...they offer a three day trial, but you’re obviously not going to quit smoking in 3 days, so you pay the 20 dollars, fine. But, whether successful in quitting or not, people will inevitably forget the app ever existed after a month or so, while the contract gives the company permission to continue charging every three months indefinitely. Clearly, these men are intelligent and knowledgeable about how people think, and they used those skills to craft a very efficient means of getting as much money out of people as possible. I believe your response above that you are trying to raise funds for the project, which is admirable, but that doesn’t excuse dishonesty.

i was satisfied until today, the day the app charged me for my subscription....i have a paid subscription, but the app won't let me log back in! i know my email and pw, but it keeps saying "NOT QUITE. Something went wrong, please try again"... my connection is strong, and i can't find any help source to figure it out...kinda mad

I have been using the app for 3 weeks and have semi enjoyed using it. I like the quiz about facts to do with quitting. But after this there wasn't much else for me to do unless I paid a subscription fee which seems silly. Great I have quit smoking so am saving money, shown by the app (great that it keeps tabs on this kind of info) but now I have to pay for better features so am no longer saving as much money. I know it is only 2.99 per month but I think it should be a 1 off payment not monthly.

Worst app ever!! They have my card details but I cant access my account info to cancel my trail - its basically going to be a surprise for me if they decide to take my money or not after the 7 days!. No confirmation emails of any description after you create an account and hand over your payment details. I have been into the app once and not been able to gain access since, despite following instructions and changing my password 3 times! Feels like a scam - be warned!

  • Finally!! Jan 30, 2018

    By Ryanrlcb
I have thoroughly researched CBT and have long known it was a very effective way to achieve my goal. The problem: it is not always easily accessible, affordable or easy to fit into life’s other demands such as work, running errands, etc. The solution has arrived! Here you have a dedicated team that is truly looking out for you and your success. The Steps are easy to follow and understand, the cost is beyond fair and affordable and you also get the added benefit of group support from people going through the exact same thing. It is very common to see the team behind the app responding to messages in the main group with words of encouragement and celebrating your successes with you! More than good enough to use on its own, but also great as a compliment with other methods such as medications (Chantix) and nicotine replacement therapy (gums and patches) as smoking is more than just physical, it is also psychological. In order to truly break free, you have to address the mental aspects behind addiction. Wish there were more stars to give!
  • BEST approach to quitting Mar 13, 2018

    By AmericanGirl1776
I’ve tried quitting smoking many ways (nicotine patch, gum, ecigs, cold turkey). This is the ONLY method that has stuck. It utilizes CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) to help you analyze and reevaluate your smoking patterns. After completing the FREE first section, I paid for the subscription—Worth eVeRy penny. I love how quick and easy the program is. My favorite element is the Cravings Tool Box (perfect when you think you might slip up). I’ve always craved cigarettes when drinking alcohol, and now I know why—Better understanding the chemical interactions and how they trigger my brain is so helpful! 10/10 would definitely recommend

My quit date isn't until May 1st, so I cannot tell if this app really works in the long run. But the idea behind it, CBT, makes sense.. I have been using the app for a few days now and really have enjoyed the steps so far. They have really made me think in new ways and I feel pretty confident about quitting this time. Maybe I can leave another review in a few months and tell you if I was successful in quitting. Until then: The app is niceley made, a few minor improvements could be made in usabillity, but overall, really nice UX and great design! Also, I had a problem with the app this morning (well, so I thought, turned out to be my poor Internet connection, I think) and wrote to their support and got a very friendly answer just a few hours later. Super quick! So far I am very happy with this app. One star less because when I went into the "community" and read a post and wanted to reply, I was asked to pay another fee for that feature. So of course I didn't reply. I think they could be a bit more upfront about the costs on their website, at least. Oh, and the website is not mobile-friendly (at least on Android).

Hello, I have been loving this app and today is actually my first day of quitting. I have been subscribed and now suddenly it isn’t giving me access to anything. I don’t know why it’s locking me out or how to fix it. Even trying to change the subscription (which I would rather not have to do if I don’t have to) will not help because it won’t actually change until the subscription I have cancels. My account shows I’m subscribed but the app doesn’t think I am for some reason. Please help me!

I have been reading to reviews and quite simply I wish there were free information. Believe me I know how much cigs cost. It seems if this is a doctor trying to get us to stop it would be free. Tapping on apps makes money right? Maybe I’m being cynical but I have been given the tools to quit from an addiction specialist that as a friend she did not charge. I am 64 will be 65 shortly and I AM tired of it and I have tried so many times with so many aids. So far I start off well and end up right back where I started. While I may download the app to see what is free but at this point I’m so disappointed in myself as well as the plans I’ve used so far. I will update a review after seeing what there is in the free part.

I had such high hopes for this app! Especially since it was Apple recommend. I was neither impressed not disappointed with the free stage, but it was a lot of reading I scrolled through, and was kind of hoping the smoking “diary” would of had more options, and been more through. I quit smoking cold turkey when I became pregnant and thought I’d never smoke again. Obviously not the case, so for me finding out what triggers me to crave the cigarette would be an effective way to fight it. I also have received 50+ emails asking me to sign up for premium in 24 hours. And when I hit unsubscribe, I am taken to the main website, where there is no link I have been able to locate to unsubscribe. Irritating!

Logging in via browser is weird and not very streamlined, and there is no clear way to cancel a trial. Apparently, this can be done via the Subscriptions tab here in the Play Store, but this app isn't listed there for me so I've had to reach out to support. I'm really hoping I don't get charged like some others!

Everything is fine about this app. Two problems. 1.Earlier there was community where users could share their progress and get motivated from each others journey. 2. The notification received from app about achievements do not expand so that text could be read in full..also the app crashes when notification is touched upon to open app to view the entire text of achievements. 3. This is not drawback but rather suggestion to have widgets for home screen showing progress

So I have my plan and I'm using quit genius to help. I'm logging how many times I smoke but there's some glitch that multiply's some. I added a log at the end of the night the past few nights and I looked today to find out the app says I smoked 20 more than I actually did for two days ago and 12 more than I actually did yesterday. I've questioned the number it Said in the past but figured I was just misremembering but I known what I started each of the past couple days with and so I know what my numbers were. Please fix this issue.

The app is fine but they make it impossible to cancel subscription. I have contacted customer service, but they told me that they couldn't cancel it.

Just received an "introductory call" from them, basically 5 minutes of someone with broken english trying to sell me nicotine replacements.

Craving and smoking logging is supper bugy. Sometimes works sometimes not, without any feedback if it worked or not. For almost $8/3months it's unbelievable the one of main functions doesn't work
