Portal Knights has all the features to make this an adventure to remember! It is a well-polished action adventure role playing game with crafting and building elements and more importantly, it is one to be shared with your favorite gamer pal (in my case, it’s my wife). Like Terraria, we’ll be playing together for many weekends to come! As a matter of fact, this game will be the heir apparent until 505 Games gets their hands on another Terraria iteration (keeping my fingers crossed). With the release of Portal Knights, we finally have another excuse to cozy up and stay home! Thank you 505 Games for filling the void! ***With all of that said...there’s only one complaint. I’m playing this on iPhone 6 and iPad mini 2, but I don’t think that matters but: if an enemy attacks me near a building and I enter the building, the enemy manages to kill me through walls...even when the auto-aim is deactivated. Since the game is still brand spanking new...I’ll still give the 5 stars I know it deserves but I would love to have reason to delete this portion of the review. 505 Games is definitely one of the best and I have faith in their drive to create the greatest gameplay possible in every title.

It's really great. My only problem is that it freezes as soon as you leave the app and it just takes one mistake of a tap in your Home button to make it unplayable. I reeeeeally wish they fixed it, it's such a fun game. I was playing for hours (as long as I didn't touch the Home).

I bought this game on my Xbox a while back and fell in love with it immediately so finding out it would come to the App Store made me more nervous than anything. I was afraid the game would be completely changed due to it being moved to a mobile device but there was nothing to worry about! The game is almost exactly like it is on the console. I just have a few things I’d like to see if possible. The first thing is customizable controls. I still get mixed up and use “A” for jump rather than attack/mine. I feel like if there was someway to customize the controls, it would be 6/5. Another thing is, when using “A” (or whatever button it would be to attack in future hint hint), to make that a kinda joystick as well. What kinda bothers me is that I have to take my finger of the button, scroll a little bit, and then continue to mine. I think it’d be easier as a player if that was a kinda “joystick” so you could look around while mining something rather than having to mine one block at a time. But those are really my only critiques. As far as the rest of the game, absolutely amazing job. Worth every cent

I am still playing it and I have enjoyed it so far but after the first boss match it will have a big lag then kicks me out so I can not explore anything other unless I make a new world and look at the first few worlds again and to get to the first boss you need to do a quest that can not be started on a normal size world

I’ve been struggling to find something for my 7 year old to play, and this has turned out to be great fun for him and I both! I find that the AppStore lacks solid games for kids about his age; he’s mature enough that he wants action and quicker gameplay (he loves the first person perspective), but I don’t want the violence and gun themes that seem to be associated with most of those games. Most games that I deem to have appropriate content, don’t hold his attention for long. Also, on a slightly unrelated note, I find Minecraft to be a bit of a bore, personally, but the structure and rpg elements set this apart a great deal. Portal Knights meets both our needs. As an added bonus, we are both super exited about the co-op multiplayer, and since it’s WiFi only I don’t have to worry about weirdos chatting him up, or building offensive structures in the game. So long as you aren’t opposed to magic fireballs and fantasy beat-em’ up “violence” this is a great way to take your child back from Pixel Gun.

I really enjoy this game but for the second time. When I attempt to update this game it says that it can’t update the app at this time. This happened with the last update and I couldn’t update it. So I deleted it and tried to redownload it expecting that it would have saved my save data. I was wrong, lost everything. And now here I am again an update has come out and it won’t let me update the game. Yet I can update all the other hundreds of games and apps I have on my phone (iPhone X) Edit: the developer response suggests that I attempt to use a different WiFi and or restart my phone (the first two things that any competent person would do when something goes wrong, which I did) as I mentioned I have countless games and apps that are updated on my phone daily. Yet this game doesn’t update twice. Perhaps this issue Isn’t with the actual coding but some sort of App Store glitch. Regardless as the maker of the app I’d make it my priority to find out why it’s happening and get the responsible party to fix the problem. I’ll give it a three star instead of one seeing as it may not directly be the developers fault but it is still an issue that is unique to this game and in my opinion the responsibility of the dev.

This is an amazing game that combines Minecraft elements with our peaches strategy and development. I have really enjoyed playing, And plan on purchasing it for my kids to play with me over Wi-Fi as well. My Complaint is that sometimes objects and items go invisible and can’t be found. In addition sometimes you can see something but can’t pick it up or put it in your inventory. I found a really cool spell and it got dropped while I was arranging my Inventory. I couldn’t pick it up And eventually lost it. It was a big bummer because it was a rare find. Beyond that I love this game. I think it’s also neat that instances happen from zone to zone like invasions of skeletons or orcs. You never know when something special is going to happen, and it makes you feel like you are a part of something. It would be nice to have more special vendors for weapons and armor, and have a little more character development. I would love to see sub classes like necromancer.

Game runs well, but takes forever to save(gets stuck in a loop) and crashes on booting the software(black screen) 90% of the time. I own this on pc and switch, the game is wonderful, but it seems mobile is a quite buggy. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 btw.

This game is beautifully designed and has amazing controls. The controls may take a while to learn, but once you spend time to learn it, everything goes quickly. The fights are interesting and fun, and although there are complaints about small worlds, there are 48 of them, which provides ample exploration. The worlds are randomly generated, but have the same buildings, which allows for some replay ability. The developers are in touch with the customers and respond to reviews, which is useful for bug patching. This said, the game could use some updates, and here are things I personally would enjoy to see. (In this order) 1 New classes. I would especially like a rouge with a lower Hp, medium damage, and the ability to turn invisible, a Barbarian that has high Hp, medium damage, and can sacrifice health to hit his axe on the ground and create shockwaves, and a necromancer that has mage abilities (but with less Hp and damage) that can summon undead. 2 Combat Pets. I like the current pets, and you should keep the cute little pets in the game, but also open a slot for bears, wolfs, etc... that are about as powerful as emerald parrots(level 1) and fight whatever you attack, and resurrect after 1 minute. 3 Online. I think this game clearly has to have a online version (top priority after classes and pets) and I would enjoy a version that allows you to play with people across the world.

Bad news- leveled to thirty, beat the hollow king four times- no drops- nothing... no gems, minerals; certainly not the astral heart which kind of closes the door on the games finish. Beat him in the middle of the platform at least once so they are not going over the edge as some, on-line, have suggested...huh? Freezing in between portals is still a problem but can be circumvented through closing out and reloading. Updated on latest iOS etc. When I am at the portal screen and your download status bar is filling it will stop at about 1/4, and no longer progress. The portal cut-scene will continue to play so it appears that you are visually progressing but the load status bar will freeze. The only way to exit is close and reopen- thankfully your load times are short. Attempted to go back through a new world to give the game another chance to work but once you level to thirty, except for recipe drops any progress potential dies. Did not have the replay-ability to warrant going back through to reactivate the portals just to get the end boss drops. Entertaining to a point but ultimately disappointing due to glitches.

Main menu freezes up after sitting for a moment, after receiving a notification pop-up, and when switching to another app and back. I can't even play due to getting notifications, which is what phones do, so I guess I'm skipping this one.

What a joke of a game. Tried installing three different times only for it to freeze and then give me a black screen. And I can tell from the reviews here that the developers don't even respond which is never a good sign. Zero stars since I can't even play it.

I truly enjoyed the pc version and was excited to see this game in the App Store. Being able to play a sandbox game on the go with my phone sounded like a sweet idea. After playing for a bit, the game drove me nearly insane with one simple issue. The flick evade controls are horrible. Simply trying to step to the side to place the next block shouldn’t send me diving off a cliff (in more ways than one). Please add an option to have an evade button near the A&B buttons. It is unbelievably frustrating to build on a pixelated tight rope, only to dash off your platform to your death. Even in creative mode, it is near impossible to build anything without rolling all over the place. (Yes, even though you can fly I still find myself rolling half the time by nicking a surface) If it weren’t for that, I would honestly give a 4 or 5 star rating. Personally, I would like the layout to stay the same (action button above the A&B buttons). Just resize it a little and add the evade button to the left of the A&B buttons.
  • Game keeps freezing and losing progress Jan 2, 2018

    By Frequent_User_6
I first played this on the Nintendo Switch and it was awesome. So when I saw it for my mobile I was excited to play it. Game play is good and touch controls work well. Playing on an iPhone X, the graphics seem better than the Switch and it is very smooth. Only note is playing it will make the phone hot. Noe my reason for the low score is the game keeps freezing and when it finally reloads, I have lost progress and items in my inventory. For example, I placed a bunch of looted furniture around my house, crafted a new wand, and built the spawn shield. When I placed the shield, the game froze. When it finally reloaded, everything I did was lost and all the items I used to craft the wand and shied were missing also. This type of thing has happened several times now and it is very frustrating to lose all the time I spent collecting the materials only to have to do it again. Developers, Please fix this!!!!!

Hello! This is a fantastic game and you should consider buying it, it is worth every penny. The combat system is well done, and the variety of buildings you can make is enormous. There are 48 worlds for you to explore, as well as event world that occur randomly. Now, I have a small problem with the new update. My home happens to be in Fort Finch, and I don’t want to move it, as that would be very difficult. But I also want to experience all the new features, so could you please add an update so if you have Fort Finch as your home island you can make the new shops somewhere else? That would be great. Overall though, this game is great. One last thing: Please make it so you can’t roll unless you’re in combat. This has screwed me up many times over, so please fix that! Thanks! EDIT: To solve the Fort Finch problem, I created a new universe so I can bring the stuff from there to my home universe.

Hey Guys! Just wanted to say, I Love this game. I am addicted! Its not a very popular game, but it sure is Fun. There is one thing that i would like to be added. You see, I just reached level 12 in game, and I made myself a chest room. Each chest is for something different. But i always get confused, because I don't know which chest has the items i need in it. So, it would be cool if you could add something that will make you able to rename chests. It would really help with sorting items. Thanks

  • Great game, never perfect but worth it Feb 2, 2018

I love this game, it's one of my favorite time wasters and I have it for other platforms too. A lot of reviews are about the awkward controls and I really hope they patch the iPhone version. Someone suggested making the button double as the right joystick I think, which makes sense because you have to move your finger painfully far to look around otherwise. But I have a different suggestion! If we use the third person camera, add an option to let the character move absolute to the screen view, so that up moves them to the top of the screen and so on. They can just lazy-target whatever's in front of them and you can switch to first person for construction and such. That way you don't have to worry about the camera controls at all if you just want to grind five minutes before bed or something. Just have it be like an old top-down RPG that targets the most obvious thing in front of you without the crosshair.

It has some bugs but it's a great game with a lot of potential to become greater. It reminds me a bit of minecraft but with better graphics. It's also similar to dragon quest builders but not to similar. Fun game, if it didn't have the bugs I'll have give it 5 stars.

I thought this game had a global multiplayer didn't realize the only multiplayer on it is local/same wifi. Other than that I love the game but I'll rate it 5 stars once I get to experience the game with other people on a none local network. Or perhaps there's something I'm missing either ways if it's possible to play global multiplayer then there needs to be some sort of instruction because... I can't find it. If there isn't then you guys should try working on a way to make it happen, I know that creating a game and fixing bugs and improving it isn't easy, it's just that a more advanced multiplayer would help this game live on longer. Take junk jack for instance many people played it so they can get to play with other players and trade with each other, but ever since Game Center changed and the multiplayer died out, junk jack has lost its high fame and play rate.

Hello listen up I’m a nice kid k? Soooo listen to this I love it! It’s a fun car game but sometimes a bit laggy when I turn up the graphics so can you please fix that and make it look a bit like the ps4 Xbox and switch edition? By the way it’s a great game I wanted it for years and I finally got a gift card ;) anyways I love it and can’t wait to get a response it’s really amazing but please make it to where the npcs like Rupert and etc misc walk and wander around that would get 5 star ratings and I would tell almost everyone so if you could make better graphics and make npcs wander around I would see if the AppStore would allow me to rate 10 stars please make them wander around can wait to get a developer response telling whether or not you could make them run from enemies and wander I rate full five stars plz make them run wander and socialize:)

Super fun and easy to pick up! I would give 5 stars but I wish I didn't need to be on the same wifi as the other players for multiplayer option :/ . Would be cool if you could invite them from anywhere. None the less, absolutely LOVE the game .

Got a new phone game works great now. But one thing that bothers me is the durability mechanic on mobile. On pc you don't have to worry about the durability of your weapons or tools. This game is already a lot like minecraft. Removing the durability system will make the game more different on mobile. And please make all the dlcs available on mobile.
  • A hidden gem of crafting style games, albeit neglected on mobile Feb 28, 2020

This is an amazing game that I have been able to enjoy with friends and solo as well. If you like Minecraft, but were wanting something that leans more towards the adventure aspects (although the crafting is great too!) then this is the game for you. Playing coop with my friends has been one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Just keep in mind that the mobile version has not been updated in a while. If you want the absolute best Portal Knights experience, with expansions and all, then you should get the version on PC/Consoles. The switch version is especially easier control wise (with the touch screen inventory management and all), while PC and PS4 will have slightly better graphics. All in all, this is a classic of the genre and is criminally underrated. A classic in my book for sure.

One thing I don’t like about this game when you’re trying to build anything you swear you pressed A and you had it exactly where you wanted it to be placed at but it goes completely somewhere else another thing I don’t like about this game is in the current mode you had it a block and it gets destroyed instantly that I do like that because of the survival it gets annoying when you have to sit there but I do like about this game is a have to level up your character you get to choose a witch versus swords person or an archer person so far this Best is the sword person you could use like how you can choose hair colors are colors I strips mouth and hairstyles I halyards as the survival mode the credit mode is not that fun as it’s not as fun as the survival mode skills you get to level up I like so the survival mode is the most one I like

I played this for the xb1 now I own it I like. Ya could've added quite a bit more it really feels like you guys were acceptable I'm just a bare minimum and making a game. The boards aren't that big, there's no real racist to choose from except for the two that you have to spend $10 each to get, not a lot of options, but all in all I liked it

I am still playing it and I have enjoyed it so far but after the first boss match it will have a big lag then kicks me out so I can not explore anything other unless I make a new world and look at the first few worlds again and to get to the first boss you need to do a quest that can not be started on a normal size world

The Android version isn't as content rich as the Steam version but it's a fun game none the less. Imagine if Minecraft had the fun RPG combat and questing from Skyrim and you get Portal Knights. This version is missing the tower defense planet, furfolk playable race and druid shapshifter class however and makes me sad that I have to try and get equal enjoyment out of an inferior game.

What’s Subpar
