I was a bit skeptical of this version when I first read some reviews. Having played both the first and second in this series, I was excited to see a new version. Reviews were shaky the first day and I was reluctant to try it based on them. But I wanted to see if it was really as bad as some said, so I downloaded and very glad I did. It is so much fun! My biggest concern were the monsters and what they brought in terms of mechanics. Essentially they are blocks that move and will chase you if they have a path. But you can be smart and blow them up without losing pick hits or armor. And there is great incentive to go after the monsters. They drop the coins to craft better gear. In this version gear crafting is much more strait forward than previously. The mine building algorithm is much better in this version as well. Many more chaining events with each run. This had been a particular gripe of mine with v2. In the first version I had many chained blasts and events, but they seemed to tone them down in v2. Now this version brings back that excitement!! While I have already put in a lot of time, there are some block types I have yet to see from previous versions. And I have not seen any new block types (aside from monsters). I look forward to updates. Hope they produce a Halloween map full of monsters wearing costumes and classic movie monsters.

Don't write too many reviews but I loved this game so much that I felt compelled to. Was looking for a new game after the latest Lords of Waterdeep update completely ruined my all-time favorite mobile game. Settled on the Ascension card game and then found this. This is a lot of fun...not chaotic than the Games I usually play but I absolutely love the variety of cards, power ups, craftable items, and treasures. Explosions are great and the monsters are just challenging enough to keep the game interesting without giving you the level. I have yet to buy anything in-app. You can totally play this free as long as you're willing to earn it. I don't buy victory. Going to be trying to collect treasure sets for a looooong time. Great game...thank the Lords of Waterdeep developers for pushing me over this way.

Really fun game, would be immeasurably improved by actually being able to play it for more than about 10 minutes at a time. Even with the first cap upgrade the energy system is just too stingy. Something like a zero-cost, zero-loot mine that grants energy for reaching the idol could go a long way to improving the issue, without hopelessly unbalancing everything? Right now it's mostly a game about waiting.

Fun game. Had pocket mine 2 before this, loved it, so I got this one. They’ve added monsters, which my first take was “no,” but now, I occasionally play pocket mine 2 on my kindle, and miss those little things. Love the surprised faces before you kill them, and yes, they are a very good addition. It’s harder to progress in #3, I think, but it’s because they give you harder levels sooner, so I’m getting more stars on the levels I already passed. But yes, this is a good game, and you will enjoy it.

Super fun collecting all the cards and trying all the different levels. I've got all the grey, blue and purple cards maxed out and I'm working on getting all the gold cards. Takes a while but I've been playing this game for over a year and it's still fun and entertaining. Literally the first and only mobile game I've ever spent money on and I didn't even have to and it was so worth it. Would absolutely recommend this game.

Not enough energy, can only do a level or two at a time. Unless you want to drop money on in game bs.

I hate the monsters. It's not at all clear how you're supposed to take advantage of "startling" them. But beyond that, the events and levels require way too much energy! What I loved about PM2 was the higher level events asked for rubies, which you had to work to earn, not 3 energy, which you have to wait--or, what Roofdog wants--pay for. I also hate the way the characters work now. Their powers are limited to charge ups instead of lasting throughout the level. That's a real downgrade from the second game. And I miss the variety of ore. It kept the mine visually interesting as you descended. I miss the goals. This game really misses the mark compared to its predecessor.

Pocket Mine 2 was an excellent game to carry around and play when you get a quick break but the sequel introduces monsters which often appear and do 2x damage to you pick. On an 8x level that 16 damage and if a few drop from above or you run into a few at a time you'll be destroyed in a moment. You're only other option is to tap like mad at the screen to try and hit during their .5 second of "surprise" which will inevitably lead to you mining useless areas around the monsters and in effect damaging you pick without hitting the monster (who will then damage your pick...). Too bad, not a great mechanic.

Fun game ruinied by terrible developing decisions like the energy system. It doesn't make me come back to your game, it makes me uninstall it because you limit your own players. Why develop a game and then force us to stop playing it? Terrible.

  • Attack of the miner monsters!! Sep 24, 2017

    By Did djcjdndkcv
This game is great and better than the previous pocket mines, but the monsters are a bad addition. They always hit you because you have no time to react and kill them before they hurt you. You lose in unfair ways. My friend just a second ago got to the chest at the end and died to a monster down there before he could even open the chest. Please just take them out, or at least make them easier to kill. There’s a perk on some purple items that give 60% MORE monsters, like why would you equip that? I honestly almost wanna stop playing it or just get pm2 just to stop with monsters. I feel like the devs just made them to make it different from the previous game, and I don’t like it as much because of it.

Need more money from levels. Im not earning enough money from playing levels or gems. It took me 4 days just to get 20k and thats playing almost all day. My advice, make the game let you earn more rewards. Other than that i would highly reccomend this game to every one i know.

  • Nearly perfect.... Sep 17, 2017

    By Psychovampyre
I loved pocket mine 2 and I love 3 even more. The power ups and gear are amazing and collecting money, coins, and artifacts are extremely satisfying. It's so exciting when you craft an awesome piece of gear and manage to combine it with equally powerful cards. The only thing keeping the game from being virtually perfect is the monsters, you have literally a millisecond to kill them before they hurt you and there's a ton of them sometimes. If we had just a little more time to kill them before being hit and your energy built up a little faster then I'd give the game a total 5 stars. Either way though, I'm completely addicted to pocket mine 3 and I highly recommend you try it!

Great game graphics are good and levels progress well. It would be nice if you could get gems easier maybe watch an add get gems I'm not a big fan of having to download another game to get them also would be nice to have more energy that would be my only issues really. So all and all really good game

  • The explosions are quite satisfying Oct 2, 2017

    By Lingrush24
I've been looking unsuccessfully for a proper digging/exploration game for some time. This one is hugely addictive thanks to the feeling of constantly opening presents, with explosions. And it's not too greedy with the IAP: the starter pack is enough for me to make nearly constant progress with an appropriate level of difficulty. I managed to reach the end of the adventure just when I was afraid I could not progress due to the blacksmith limit. But now I’m out of content and would really like some kind of endless mode...

  • Not as good as the second one. Oct 15, 2018

    By ZizZap4
It just feels like a lazy repackaging of Pocket Mine 2 (for the most part the same textures are used, sometimes where unnecessary (beach anchors and starfish in a desert area?)) with some odd mechanic choices made. The enemies, while interesting, often feel finicky to have to deal with. They try to make up for a much smaller variety in ore types by upping how many pick hits each block takes to mine and by setting a depth limit of 200m on areas you’ve already completed. Characters are now randomized, which is just a smidge frustrating. Pickaxes are now gear, which can only be upgraded to a certain point, as opposed to the indefinite upgrading featured in previous games. Overall, it’s just not as enjoyable of an experience as the previous entry.

  • Fun , but has issues Sep 19, 2020

Super fun game. 1). Why only 5 energy? A ridiculous low number & prevents you from playing a lot. 2). Buggy ads. The ads stall, then you lose the energy needed to play the game...very annoying! Increase the energy to at least 20. After a few times of having low energy with buggy ads, prevents you from playing, then I just turn the game off. Not worth the time.

I miss the ability to choose my deck layouts for my characters. Ie a depth layout, money maker, etc. The gear system I don’t like as well because I seem to get the same stuff over and over and it’s harder to customize plus a lot more expensive. The monsters could be fun if they didn’t take a defense point or 3 just by looking at you. All in all I love the pocket mine series but still like the 2nd best.

Disclaimer: I'm only giving a three star review because of my lack of technical support. The game is freaking amazing. My game for some reason crashed and everything was wiped away. I emailed support, got nothing back. There was nothing in the faq to help. I tried restoring my purchase, thinking everything would go back right, got back my rewards purchasing back but I'm still playing a whole new game. If I can get this fixed I would gladly change this review.

Do not let your children play this. I really like the game but the ads are absolutely disgusting and definitely not for children or adults who anyone who is not a degenerate. They're getting worse too. That "quibi" app (I think that's what it's called) advertises here frequently (for example). One of their shows is about a sex doll and the ad is not censored (like it could be anyway). So yeah, developers, do something about that.
