This app is the most frustrating thing my parents have ever decided to do Jul 19, 2021

    By M
As a 13 year old, I find this app invading, unfair, and extreme. My parents always praise this app it’s upsetting. It has put a huge strain on my relationship with my family because if I slip up and say one thing with a slight attitude, everything is taken away. And even if I have good behavior, the controls still stand. And the screenshots are an extreme invasion of my privacy. If you are a parent and are considering getting this for your teen, respect them and don’t download this app.

Ok some people are complaining about this app beacause those parents are on the un reasonable side, not beacause they are spoilt They can’t talk to their friends, play games for more than an hour and they have good behavior and are confused why their parents are blocking their apps. It is understandable if you like this app, but please do not put down the people who don’t

Yes, i am a teen using this app. And yes, i do deeply hate this app. However, i do understand it’s purpose and it does it’s job very well. This review is solely to try to fix some bugs that really inconvenience me every day with this. The main bug that is that whenever my phone gets disabled, it turns off notifications for everything. I understand not getting notifications when i’m not supposed to. However, when it gets reenabled, i have to go through all of my apps and reenable the notifications. Also, with some apps like Instagram, it completely removes the option to turn notifications back on. I can fix it by reinstalling it, however the same problem occurs whenever my phone gets disabled and reenabled. I don’t completely know if this can be fixed without affecting other things, however, it would be amazing if the developers that make this app could fix it. Other than that, the app does everything it was meant to do. It is a well designed and developed app, with very few bugs. In fact, i can’t think of any other bugs off the top of my head. As i said before, i really don’t like the app, but does any teen that this app is being used on really enjoy it? It does its job finely, and the developers deserve props for it.

I’ve gone through a lot of the reviews, and honestly it sounds like a bunch of spoiled children crying about how they don’t get what they want. Yes, it can be annoying. Why have a phone when you can’t use it when you want? It’s so you can actually have an actual LIFE outside of devices. If your parents are always on their phones, and you feel it’s unfair, I get it. I have that situation too, but there are plenty of other things to do to keep busy. And I’m on the older teen spectrum that has this app being used. If you’re on the younger spectrum (middle school and lower), I suggest you give it a chance and ask your parents for some help understanding it. Trust me, it makes a lot more sense as you’re older and have work, school, and are learning to/already can drive. The only issue I have with this is the fact I have to organize my home screen through the app rather than how I normally might. I get it’s probably to stop kids from deleting this app, but it’s quite annoying to fix everything when my deleted apps (a lot of the pre-downloaded ones I don’t use) still appear in the app and not on my home screen. It’s something I can get used to though.

My parents installed OurPact like 6 months ago. Honestly, I really don’t like it because it won’t let me text my friends, or have access to tons of other apps that I like. Being a teen, you guys know how hard that can be... Still though, I’m partly glad my parents have it because it does limit my screen time and even though I don’t like to say it, it kind of should be limited. In the end, your parents are just putting it on your phone because they love you, and they want what’s best for you. This can mean taking screen time away, but sometimes you have to just trust that your parents are right, even when it’s hard. I am annoyed that my parents installed ourpact, but I’m thankful because I know that they’re doing it because they love me. A few suggestions I would recommend you change though: please put reminders for when our screen time is out. Like if we have 10 minutes left, have a notification pop up so we know. it would be nice for if I’m on a call or something so I know when to wrap it up. Also, maybe change it so there’s an option to make it so whenever your not on your phone the screen time pauses. I just say this because sometimes I forget to pause my time, and then I have no time left. Thanks!

Okay so the app is okay. My parents have it on my phone and I get taking away the apps when I’m not paying attention or not answering calls. The only annoying thing with that is that sometimes I can’t answer the phone cause my phone is dead, set to do not disturb(due to being at school), or not being able to reach the phone ( sleeping, hanging info with friends/family). Whenever the apps get taken away, my apps return in a weird order and it takes me a while to set them back. Occasionally, our pact will take away my apps at random times even when my mom didn’t activate the lock. I feel that this is a great app for kids that are young and need to control their screen time and that are unfocused in school and are univolved in sports etc. But as a kid that is 13 and has straight a’s and is in numerous sports, I feel that I don’t need the app. I can use the phone responsibly. I have nothing really against the app, I mean they cannot control the age that you have the app installed on your phone at. It is a great concept for younger and less responsible kids. The only annoying things are when the app glitches and having it installed at my age.

This app does exactly what parents would want it to do except for one thing. Usually, when the app is set to turn back on all my apps at 6:30, it does not. My parents will have to manually go on their app and try to fix it because it won’t turn back on automatically. If my parents are busy and cannot turn them back on or are driving, I’m stuck at school without apps I need for school that most of my teachers use daily such as Microsoft teams or TeamSnap. This could potentially be a big problem because I’m on a couple sports teams at my school and if I can’t get any notifications, I won’t know if my bus has left or is leaving and my friends have no way to tell me. If you are a parent that isn’t busy and has time to turn the apps back on then I would recommend the OurPact app to you, but if you are constantly driving kids around or are busy to the point that you are often unable to access your phone then I would highly consider finding a different app. If you don’t believe me or think it won’t be an issue, try the app out and if it works for you, it works. But if you notice some issues such as I have then try other apps and see which one works the best for you and your kid(s).
  • Needs updates, otherwise the app is great!! Oct 22, 2020

Hello, I have had Ourpact for about 2 years now. I think that this app is great for parents! I must say it’s not my favorite because I can’t move any of my apps, but I can see how it is a good app for parents. I think as a parent it is great to know where your kid is and to punish them when they do something bad (by turning off their phone or certain apps). But, I am not writing the review about all that. I think that Ourpact really needs to update some things. There are a bunch of apps that don’t load in Ourpact and they can’t be sorted into a certain place on your screen. I also think that Ourpact needs to keep up with the IOS updates. The IOS 14 update recently came out and I don’t like how I can’t have the new widgets out on my screen. I think that we should have the ability to move around the stuff on our screen without having to go into the app. There is also this new bug since the last update that has made it so I cannot move or delete any of my apps. I really want this to be fixed! Other than that the app is absolutely great! I hope you take my ideas into consideration! Thank You!!!

As much as I hate having a screen time limit I do understand why you created OurPact. Since iPhones/iPads where created a lot of people are glued to their screens. But the thing is whenever I use the app organizer it kicks me out of the app before I can change it. Today and many times before than it wont even let me save it. But sometimes it works. Also whenever it doesn’t work my mom changes the settings so I can edit my home screen and for some reason it won’t work. One time when my screen time wasn’t on it worked only for a minute. Please fix the glitch because it makes me pretty annoyed. Also this weird thing happened yesterday when I was turning on my screen time and usually takes a good 15 seconds but today it took 2 hours! I was waiting for it to turn on and after 5 minutes I checked the app and my screen time was running but the only apps I had were FaceTime, messages, camera and other things I need for school. I asked my mom to fix it and she said it was probably because all my apps were set to be disabled when I had screen time but there was a check right next to all of them! It works now but I don’t know what happened.
  • My Experience with Our Pact Jr. Nov 14, 2021

For context I’m 15 years old and my parents have Our Pact on my iPhone SE (2nd Generation). I’m dislike Our Pact, I typically don’t enjoy when my phone gets blocked but I’m not here to complain about that. I want to suggest some quality of life issues that I think should be fixed or worked around somehow. The first thing is the app itself. Our Pact Jr. is not a great app in terms of user experience, the app often freezes or crashes and often when installing an app, it takes multiple restarts for it to show up in the app organizer making the process of just downloading an app laborious. The second thing about Our Pact is it’s lack of customization. As of IOS 14 iPhones became a lot more customizable with the introduction of widgets and app icon customization. Even though it’s been almost two years since the update released at time of writing (November 14th 2021), Our Pact still has not added support in the app organizer for this fairly basic feature. This might be because of how the app blocks the phone but I still would like to see it in a future update. The last thing is just kind of a personal nuisance but it’s still a problem. Web Links that are saved to the Home Screen won’t show up in the app organizer. So I can’t move them around and put them in the places I want to put them in. Anyway, those are my gripes about Our Pact Jr. that I hope will be fixed at some point. Thank you for reading this and I hope you have a great rest of your day

I’m just a thirteen year old trying to get on with life. I have a limit of two hours and I only actually used two minutes of it today but I left it unpaused and brought my brothers to the zoo, came back took a shower, and now my time of two freaking hours is gone when I only used two minutes. Even if you delete the app it still works, there is no way to get around it without it sending a email to a parent, my parents are on vacation so I can’t ask them to enable it, I cant text friends or ANYTHING. Someone please tell me a way to get out of it or if you are a creator of ourpact or something then honestly you said you were fixing bugs and adding more control for parents, but seriously the only thing you did was add stress on children, and if parents want to limit screen time, JUST FREAKING USE SCREEN TIME. It’s honestly embarrassing that I have to call my friends and say, “sorry, I can’t text, my parents blocked it” like I get it for like 7 year olds who all they do is sit on the couch but I am a pretty athletic kid I play volleyball and I’m litterally doing chores all the fricking time and they still feel the need to do this. It just brings me more far away from my parents and I straight up am against them for this, ourpact doesn’t help family’s out it makes them go distant. I want to take down this app. I NEED to take down this app. And you know what, my parents are probably watching me write this right now, THERE IS 0 PRIVACY.

I doubt you’ll read this but if you do for whatever reason please listen. I really dislike this app because I feel like it gives parents too much control. My parents are already controlling enough as it is and this app doesn’t help in anyway. I get it you thought what you were doing was good and that you’d help concerned parents/guardians but you have to take into account that while you’re helping parents/guardians you’re hurting kids, children, and teens. I already know how to override this app but I won’t right now. You’re really not helping anyone but the parent/guardian . Maybe get rid of this app or something and make a different App. This is destroying relationships with parent/guardians. I already have many issues and I’ve already attempted taking my life for various reasons including my parents using this app and it’s made me really anxious that my parents could block an app at any point in time even when I’m in the middle of a conversation with a friend or I’m emailing a teacher or something along those lines. This app has malfunctioned numerous amounts of times preventing me access to everything. I can’t contact any of my friends which makes me really upset because they’re the only ones I can talk to because my parents just brush off my feelings and don’t care. This app has basically made my life more of living hell than it already is. So please remove this app. I’m begging

I am 16 years old, yes I repeat, 16. AND I STILL AM FORCED TO HAVE THIS APP. I understand the concept of having this for younger children under the age of 13, but even then this app is unreasonable. My parents are able to track my location, and block my apps whenever they please. I can’t step out of the house without my parents asking me where I’m going and what I’m doing. If I don’t do something my parents ask me to do right away, my apps go “poof!”. I’ve had this app for 4 years and never once have I seen a reasonable justification for using this app on children. Parents who use this app think it’ll make their children “less addicted” but honestly it just makes us more annoyed and rebellious. Maybe instead of using a temporary solution, look into the real reason they use their phone a lot (if they even do). My parents don’t bother to try and bond with me, so I bond with my friends on my phone as it keeps me happy. I wish my parents would just try and listen to me but they don’t. I’m a straight A student, I do sports and stay fit, yet my parents don’t trust me enough to time manage my phone. At the end of the day, this program to take away your child’s apps won’t do anything. It will cause more resentment, anger, and disappointment because your child really does have a reason to be on their phone but you’re too controlling that you’d rather rely on an app than actual parenting skills. Thank you.

I am 12 years old and have had this app for 2 years. Let me tell you this, Ourpact is just not a solution. First of all, barely any kids ( at least at my school) even have an app like ourpact. Having to explain Ourpact to friends and other kids is completely embarrassing. Especially when some kids use their devices MORE than i do, yet they don’t have any restrictions. Second, it makes your kids upset and mad. Yes, the point is to get kids off their phone and they might be upset about it. But instead of that, it just makes them moody, angry, and rebellious. They are constantly thinking, “Why can’t I be like other kids?”. You are making you’re kid feel out of place and embarrassed. Third of all, they are TONS of glitches and cons to this app. With the IOS 14, most kids would love to change their app screen. Well, ourpact doesn’t let you do that. Also, kids will be CONSTANTLY asking you for more time or to unblock and app. It’s annoying for the parent as well as the kid. I know, this probably sounds super dramatic and i’m overreacting. But as a kid who has had this app for too long, your kid is probably feeling like this. So please, if you want to get your kids off their phones, just sit down and talk to them. Talk about house rules, restrictions, anything! Just don’t get Ourpact make your kid feel completely embarrassed and sad about having it.

So yeah this is an annoying app not only does the app take away other apps at anytime but it also doesn’t give any warnings, here’s a list or problems (no warnings about certain time limits, locks all apps except phone, text, and music, all apps being location apps and school apps like remind and PowerSchool, locks camera, locks safari/google, locks FaceTime, locks google duo, locks all entertainment apps, causes trust issues between parents and children, makes most parents 30% more controlling, locks reading apps, locks podcast episodes,) I think you get somewhat of the point. And I know that if I say i am under the age of 18 parents will say “oh well it’s a child say this so the must be lying just so they can have there phone back” and that is not the case, this app does block all these things and will not unlock them till the parent/guardian allows it on their phone, if you believe what I just said to be fake and you try this apps go ahead and try first then find out, there are times when I can’t reach my teachers on remind because my apps are locked and because my mother has my apps locked till 1:00pm I can’t reach my teachers till then so I would like if the parent(s) about to download this apps has taken these things into context and thought over it first, now if you don’t mind I’m going to read my manga now.

i completely understand the reason why parents want this app to monitor their children, and it is a great app. the only issue i have is, i am not addicted to my phone, because i am constantly going on walks, bike rides, running around the neighborhood, swimming, etc. i am very active, and don’t think this app should be used for kids who don’t have a problem with being addicted to their phone, because if anything this app has created an addiction for me. since i am limited to using fun apps on sleepovers, rainy days, etc., it has made me embarrassed & annoyed, because i have to go to my mom, ask for more screen time, and sometimes she doesn’t even say yes. i would really just prefer for this app to fix all of its bugs, because the app is automatically deleting my bible app, and i am very religious, so that is a problem for me. the app itself is also disappearing on my home screen (i can’t even find the app on my home screen) therefore i cannot unpause my screen AT ALL now, and it won’t even let me re-download the app, so now i am stuck with messages, phone, ft, and settings ALL THE TIME. at this point i am ticked off, and wouldn’t recommend it, because the glitches progressively get worse, and take over your phone to the point where you can barely even control it.

I am 12 and I’ve had this app for about 2 years. In my opinion I hate this it doesn’t help at all when you're in middle school. I had to explain what it is and how it works to all my friends multiple times and they just looked at me like I was a crazy person. A couple kids in my school have this app or apple screen time and get made fun of and teased for it. I don’t understand why a parent would want to torture there kid like this. Try to understand the kids side of this situation. This app completely destroys the relationship between a parent and their child/children. I know I sound super dramatic and really desperate but try to hear me out. This app is super annoying and sometimes I forget to pause my time and I’ll have no time left for the rest of the day. Also my mom would just block all my apps instead of asking me to get off my phone. Like why buy your kid/kids a phone if you don’t trust them and your just going to put this torture device on their phone. Makes no sense to buy your kid a phone is you don’t trust them. Honestly this app will make kids more rebellious and moody, they’ll also beg you for time every 10 minutes. Honestly if you look at these reviews and decide not to get this app, you are a great person. Thank you for your time and get this app to one star to take it off the App Store.

This app is the most frustrating thing my parents have ever decided to do Jul 19, 2021

Thanks!
  • Consider other apps Mar 12, 2020

    By Road Wrk Ahead
Thank you for reading this and I hope you have a great rest of your day

i completely understand the reason why parents want this app to monitor their children, and it is a great app. the only issue i have is, i am not addicted to my phone, because i am constantly going on walks, bike rides, running around the neighborhood, swimming, etc. i am very active, and don’t think this app should be used for kids who don’t have a problem with being addicted to their phone, because if anything this app has created an addiction for me. since i am limited to using fun apps on sleepovers, rainy days, etc., it has made me embarrassed & annoyed, because i have to go to my mom, ask for more screen time, and sometimes she doesn’t even say yes. i would really just prefer for this app to fix all of its bugs, because the app is automatically deleting my bible app, and i am very religious, so that is a problem for me. the app itself is also disappearing on my home screen (i can’t even find the app on my home screen) therefore i cannot unpause my screen AT ALL now, and it won’t even let me re-download the app, so now i am stuck with messages, phone, ft, and settings ALL THE TIME. at this point i am ticked off, and wouldn’t recommend it, because the glitches progressively get worse, and take over your phone to the point where you can barely even control it.

So I have this app to what feels like forever, and I want to say that it is an unrecommended app for a couple of reasons. Why is because when it blocks your apps go to someone one else and you have to trust random people not to go poking through your stuff also when you have been glitching (pressing the home button twice at the same time the device is about to block then repeat) for a lot, OurPact can cut your WiFi so you can’t play and the WiFi will have issues unless you ask your owner for help. I would like for OurPact to have an update when the iPad blocks it will give you an ten minute extra letting you know that so you can rap up with everything you need to do, it would make the app a lot more better. Right, it’s needed for people who have no control on devices, but I would like to request some edits to make this app a safe, not very stressing triggering app. I would appreciate for someone to admire this. Also I have noticed when you use this app it makes the device have bad quality. Like I am using an IPad Air two (witch before was a very good iPad) but with this app it spoiled everything like internet speed, crashing, and screen glitching, so this is why I would not recommend this app.

I don’t understand the purpose of this. Obviously at 6 or 7 this app is a good idea but parents buy phones for kids that are usually responsible. He they didn’t trust us they wouldn’t post it. This app takes your apps away!!! As if it was hacking you. Parents use it as a threat for something like do you he’s or else I’m putting your limit. I’ve had to explain countless times to my friends what it is. They always looked at me with a weird look because it’s not normal. I found the way to take it off but the parent gets an email you could turn off your WiFi or data but no there’s a notification saying we haven’t seen connection through the phone. No way of escape. It’s me a spirited because one our parents are also obsessed with there phones yet we get the punishment. Kids over 11 should be able to have some freedom. I only had 30 mins on my phone during the weekdays and am hour on the weekends. No communication with my friends. If parents want us to do something they should be the ones to tell us what to do besides reading a book. I understand Appa such as tik tok and such affect sleep. But just let kids live through the consequences so they learn the hard way. Not the controlling way. It won’t teach them real life. I want this app taken down not because of the trends and stuff because this was torture!!!!!

Hi. i’m 16 years old and just why. i don’t understand why people need to do this. especially my mother. i get good grades, i don’t sneak out, i don’t do drugs, i don’t drink (like a lot of kids around me do) so why? i don’t know why she puts this for me. it makes me feel like i have no control over anything i do. if you don’t want me to be on my phone or to take a break ok! i will leave the phone and not use it. but taking away apps is soo unnecessary. it makes me feel (like i said) like i have 0 control of my life. it’s a phone. not a death machine. and i’m safe on the internet. i don’t start problems etc. if you’re a parent and you use this app please re think because your kids will actually want to be on the phone more! as the apps go away (even i do this) can’t wait to go back on my phone that it makes me want to go on it even more. please for the love of god get rid of this dumb app. i’m literally crying because i feel so empty. i have no control over my phone or life it seems like. my phone during these quarantine times is the way to reconnect with people from school, family and actually do school work, and now it’s being taken away from me for 9+ hours becaUse my mom wants me to “take a break from the phone”. if you think you need this app for your kids, then, why do they have a phone.
