  • This app saved my toes! Jan 4, 2021

    By Ben Dibuz
Tried this out when backpacking Big Bend for the first time. Ended up getting snowed into a mountaintop campsite with a historic amount of snow. This app gave us the confidence we were going the right way to return to the base when we couldn’t see any trail or tracks at all and needed to get down in time to prevent frostbite. The tracking works remarkably well and the UI is fairly intuitive. Also seeing the difficulty gradient along the trails is very useful for planning and decision making. My only suggestion would be to make it easier to access and view stats on previously tracked hikes. The only way I could find to access them was by tapping on the path on the map, but sometimes I had hiked the same segment many times making this an imprecise way to find precious data.

Very good, verging on excellent. I'd give it 4.5 but that's not an option and to me 5 means perfect. The functionality is great being able to add and remove layers to get what information you need when you need it. The only thing I would add, I have been told they are working on, is the ability to update all your downloaded maps at once.

  • Solid Tool and Easy To Use Apr 11, 2021

I’ve been using the app for about three months now and can say that it’s a true tool for backcountry hikes. There are a lot of places in the PNW that I hike that don’t have cell signal so the offline map feature come la in clutch. I also really like the waypoint feature as a photographer so I can make spots I want to come back to with different equipment.

Trackings a little off, I'll randomly skip over a few meters when I'm standing completely still. I'd like to know when they update the land ownership cause a few pieces of property I know of are in someone else's name.

Although I use this app for finding public land to hunt it really does its job on finding out who owns the prime mushroom woods you are driving by at the moment. Only way this would get any better is if there was morel, chanterelle and shelf mushroom waypoint icons.

  • No way to try out snow mode Mar 4, 2021

No snow mode? The whole reason I tried this app out was to see what the snow mode was like, but it doesn’t appear to be there unless I pay. Can’t pay if I don’t have a chance to try it out and see if I like it. Otherwise this is just another map app (a nice one, but not worth paying for unless I can see the snow mode).

Paying the premium fee, tried to use it for another state and it just tells me to upgrade. Went to make sure I still have my account active and I do. Probably worth checking out other apps. Tried the "contact us" only a bot and no help whatsoever.

It says 2021 maps. Ive had a house built behind mine for two years. Your map doesn't show a house. As people in the United States are selling and buying properties, I would think that an app like yours would be updated proficiently

  • The best app I’ve found so far Apr 13, 2021

    By Molly I.
Seriously, this is the most intuitive hiking/outdoors app I’ve found (and I’ve tried them all). All the information you need to plan a hike or long trail run is there, and the offline maps are actually reliable! Can’t wait to see what OnX has in store for the future.

So incredibly helpful for anything outdoors! Hunting, hiking, kayaking, walking, trail riding, biking, exploring, looking up who owns the land you are around.

I would give it five stars if they ever updated the property owners. It definitely doesn't update every year or two as advertised.

Great for finding BLM and other public lands. Some oddities with the UI and trying to maximize viewing space without wiping away the info you had pulled up. I think they say it’s beta still and that seems about right. No issues with crashes or anything though.

Best hunting app out there!, the problem I found Is that the app times out way too quickly. I try to use it to follow my tracks, and the screen will time out after 30 seconds. If I'm using the compass while following a track, it will start to time out, I will tap the screen and loose the compass. Also after one of the last updates, anytime I tap the screen it will automatically attempt to add a waypoint. Other than that its it's great!
