  • Received pass one day after I was qualified May 6, 2021

    By Insured5333
App has lots of issues. Upon first attempt to get a pass, it said I had tried too many times and to try again even though I never used it before. After trying again later, my verification information was accepted but I could not get an active pass and it gave multiple reasons as to why it may not work including not being enough time for vaccination when it should have worked. I tried again late at night and got an HTTP 500 error. When system came back up an active pass was issued. I don’t know if they were fixing the system or if my pass registered because it was one day later. I was one of the fortunate ones where the application worked but a lot of people still have issues and the process was more problematic than it should have been.

The pass now works for a full 365 days after your second shot.... You can get the pass 15 days after your second dose (they've corrected the information about this that used to say 14 days)..... I think they've done a good job here! Well done NYS. Ps if you retrieved a pass before without the new extension, you need to retrieve a *new* pass to get the 365 days.

I dipped into the 1star reviews for a minute and they’re all bugging. I did have trouble getting verified for a bit, but a) that’s not on the app- that’s just NYS and b) it’s also clearly stated right on the website that it may take some time for the system to sync up and have your info. In my case, it was a little over three weeks. You’re not even fully vaccinated until two weeks after your last shot anyway! Chill, you guys! Also, this is actually NOT Nazi Germany and those of you making that comparison are insulting the millions of lives lost during that time period. If you don’t want the pass, don’t get the pass. No one is forcing you. That all said, I verified my vax on the website, downloaded the app and clicked on “add pass to wallet” from the site. I then also added it to my Apple wallet, which is super convenient so I don’t have to go digging through my apps to find this one, I can bring it up right on my Lock Screen, very nice. Also, surprisingly easy considering it’s done by NYS.

I got my pass on the website and was able to add it, from there, into Apple wallet, to screenshot it, to print it, to save it as a file, and to download this app and add it to the app as well. Overkill, maybe, but I don’t know yet which will work best for my needs so I tried them all, and they all work. So you don’t actually need this app to have an Excelsior Pass, which a number of complaints don’t seem to understand. It’s just an added convenience. My one problem had to do with the pass itself, not the app. I counted yesterday as 14 days from my second vaccine but couldn’t get a pass until today. I figure I miscounted because I got my shot early in the day?

The app works as described but has only one problem that I can see, once you goto the barcode menu your phone's screen gets brighter as it should but once you shut down the Excelsior Pass it doesn't dim, you then need to shut down you're cellphones screen than reopen it to bring your phones screen back to normal.

Have tried installing and reinstalling. Each time I select the pictures (traffic lights, bridges, etc.) After one try I keep getting the message "too many attempts". UPDATE: cannot do this on your phone. Need to do it from a computer. Once you have the QR code it's easy.

Only giving it 4 stars due to incorrect information that I had to enter at first. It gave me different counties where I did not get vaccinated at. I got mines in the Bronx and the only one in nyc that came up in was queens so I went with that one and got my pass. Also it seems to expire after a month. I know the app just came out so there’s gonna be some issues at first but hopefully this is one of them they can address moving forward. Other than that I haven’t had the time to use it yet but it looks easy to use. It’s super convenient as I don’t have to carry the physical card with me everywhere I go

  • No records found, no help May 7, 2021

    By Lhgsdu
I have been unable to retrieve my vaccine pass, after multiple attempts and checking the information against my vaccine card, even though I received my last dose well over a month ago. Looking through the reviews here, this seems to be a very common problem, and likely related to problems in entering or maintaining the data in the state vaccine database. That’s to be expected with a vaccine system started up so quickly in an emergency. The problem is that support for correcting the data and retrieving a vaccine pass is slow or nonexistent. I am still waiting for a response beyond a form letter from the Excelsior pass support team, and it is notable that while the developer has responded to several reviews here, the developer has not responded to any complaints about unretrievable records. I don’t expect the state database to be perfect, but if it can’t be corrected to be accurate, the system is useless. It’s too bad, because this sort of app would be a great help for New Yorkers and businesses—if it worked.

Totally useless. I was fully vaccinated at a NYS site. But whenever I try to complete the application (I've tried several times), it tells me no pass is available. Even worse, there's a form to fill out if you have a problem with a promise it will be corrected and/you will be contacted. I have filled the form out 3 times over a period of several weeks, with no resulting contact or correction in my information. NYS HAS TOTALLY SCREWED THIS ONE UP!
  • So very very bad May 2, 2021

    By Broadway Al
My name is Lesley Andersen. I am usually called Les. Sometimes my first name is misspelled ‘Leslie’. Sometimes my last name is misspelled ‘Anderson’. When I tried to claim my pass I entered my full legal name. The app couldn’t find me. So then I tried the 5 other ways in which the various spellings of my first and last names could be combined. The app couldn’t find me. So then I tried just ‘L’ together with each of the possible spellings of my last name. The app couldn’t find me. So then I reached out to app’s help service. They advised be to try again, being careful to spell my name correctly. Are there people for whom this is actually useful advice? So then I gave up. Now fast forward a couple of months. Today I was scheduling an unrelated appointment on the website of Weill Cornell, from whom I had gotten my vaccine shots. While on this site I noticed that my first name was listed as ‘Lesley W’. W is my middle initial. Hmm. So I tried the app again, entering my first name as ‘Lesley W’. It worked perfectly. As a professional software developer, I am appalled by the lack of thought that apparently went into the design of this app. And as an ordinary citizen I am offended by a customer service response that says, in effect, ‘do it again and make sure you do it right”.
  • Didn’t work and no way to troubleshoot May 6, 2021

    By marszipan
I got my vaccination earlier in the year as a healthcare worker. My information was not in the system and it didn’t give me any options to troubleshoot. I’m weary that it will update my info that should have been in the system months ago when my partner who got their 2nd vaccination days ago was in the system, unless their working backwards? Highly unlikely. There were no other options or feedback for me to find any other methods to still prove my vaccination to get a pass. It basically said I’d have to use another al method (neg test, diff app, or paper form) so sounds like I just won’t be able to use the pass. Really frustrating because I don’t want to walk around with my paper vax card. Totally defeats purpose of app and this should be fixed.
  • Needs a LOT of work to be useful long-term Mar 28, 2021

    By RockStarNY
    1) The app only gives a valid range from the date of one’s final vaccination in their series to 3 months after. The CDC has removed this requirement from their guidance, so why does New York keep it in theirs? The period of validity should extend through 6 months foster one’s final vaccine in their series to align with data from phase III trials or remove it until a booster schedule is established. Otherwise, most of the essential and healthcare workers who were vaccinated as part of phase 1a will not be able to use the pass by the end of April 2021 rendering it useless to a large chunk of people. 2) Many people who were vaccinated in NJ, CT and PA work in NY. Why not link to their state’s DOH? Again, this limits the usefulness of the app. 3) The pass should be available in the Apple Wallet. No brainer!
  • Useless May 23, 2021

    By Tessa777
Useless because it has been six weeks since my last jab and I cannot obtain a pass. There is a helpline to call, but the nice lady who answered had no idea how to resolve the issue, and in the end I was directed back to the same online form that insists the problem lies with the facility where I received my second shot - in my case, a local pharmacy. I called the pharmacy, and they verified that my information was indeed entered and entered correctly, but there is no way to check with the state to verify that the information is in their data base - or to find out why it isn’t. VERY frustrating, to say the least. I just deleted the app from my phone and snapped a photo of my vaccination card instead.

  • Expiration? Apr 3, 2021

    By Shankbone69
3 stars because my pass seems to Expire in less than a month. No explanation for this either. I’m thinking it’s an error they will correct. Otherwise it was seemless and simple. Ok so I’m updating my review because you responded to me and explained that all you have to do is re enter the info and now the pass will be good for 180 days. It’s a great way to keep track and prove your vaccinated. I don’t understand while people don’t want this. It’s brilliant!
  • No Waiting & No Errors Jun 14, 2021

This app not only functioned flawlessly, I was completely done in under 1 minute and had my pass generated literally immediately. Instantly. As fast as actually possible. It was amazing. And my pass is now added to my Apple Wallet. Using this was a breeze. It also doesn’t expire in a month as some folks have been saying. My pass is good for 1 full year. At which point I imagine I will need a new vaccination. Not that big of a deal.
  • works perfectly, easy to add to apple wallet May 13, 2021

    By Thdsfhdsthxsfyfdefsryh
It took about 1 minute to get my pass. The only thing i learned is you MUST wait the full 14-15 days or whatever to obtain your pass. I tried it at night and the next morning on both myself and my partners phones and for each it needed to wait the same number of days. My advice: try it on what looks like the 14th day, if no pass - don't freak out just wait a day or two - it will work
  • People need to give it time! Jun 3, 2021

    By lac11953
Everyone is so stuck on having everything instantly. First time around, no record of me. I waited a week and got my pass in 2 minutes so just chill out people. This is the first time in history that they have had to document millions of people getting a vaccine... it may take a bit to get all of that accurately into the system. I am not a big fan of NY but come on! Good job!

  • Worked for me May 30, 2021

    By JimMnson
Worked perfectly for me. Unfortunately a lot of people are unable to find their info or are discovering a variety of errors made with the data entry of their info. Everyone has to remember that this is done by a government agency. Not the private sector. As such, they don’t have the brightest and the best working for them. Anything done by the government will have an abundance of issues and cost 5 times what it would if done by a private company. Be patient. They’ll get it all worked out within 5 years.
  • Super easy May 25, 2021

    By Alyx430
The 15 day wait to be able to add the pass after my last vaccination was a bit tedious, but once I was eligible I just entered in some basic verification info and it automatically fetched my vaccination record. Then I added my vax QR card to my passbook. As apps go, it’s pretty bare-bones (small, easy to implement things are missing, like text auto fill, no social or app download share links, etc), but it does what it needs to and I had no issue. This was very quick and easy to use once I was eligible to use it.

The problem for me was the people who entered my vaccination info at the Javitz center. My last shot was March 29th. Two weeks after that I’ve been trying to enter my info into this app. Time and time again I wasn’t found. I emailed and called customer service. Never got an email reply and customer took my info and I haven’t heard back. So after maybe 40 or so attempts, I tried my MIDDLE NAME. Ding ding ding!!! They entered my info wrong. Doh!!!

First, NYC vaccination sites are not listed, just NYS ones, nice job ignoring the largest city in the state. I entered my information exactly as I did when using vax4nyc, matching the county on the vaccinations site (most definitely was queens county). After being rejected as not found about 24 times, i finally accidentally entered manhattan and it worked. So the trick is just keep filling it in over and over changing the county until you stop getting rejected. don’t even bother with the forms requesting a review, it does not actually submit anything, just tells you to call your vax provider.

I have filled the form out 3 times over a period of several weeks, with no resulting contact or correction in my information. NYS HAS TOTALLY SCREWED THIS ONE UP!

I've been back to my vaccination site multiple times. They say the data is in the state system. This app still can't pull up my information. This app is completely useless.

I know 5 people who's gotten vaccinated. And none can access this app. All it's says is you have no pass and these are the reasons. Will. Given all the reasons. There should be a pass available
  • Pass not found Apr 7, 2021

Like some other people I have been unable to be found in the system, despite being more than two weeks but less than 90 days after my 2nd dose. Each time it provides the pass not found error, despite having confirmed the information is correct and entering the information multiple times over multiple days. Trying to contact technical support with specific questions only resulted in the stock FAQ answer being sent back, which was disappointing. Maybe I’ll try it again later on to see if this has been fixed but right now it is impossible for me to use.

This app doesn't work for me. Since I wasn't vaccinated in a Federal building or at a University, they won't give me pass. I got my vaccine at the pharmacy, whats the difference, it doesn't make sense. Smh....
