The exercises are well thought out. The interface is simple and well constructed. I never encounter any performance issues. I’ve had the app for a number of years now and I’ve been very satisfied. The developers have added a bunch of cool features since I’ve had the app. I particularly like the random melodies exercise and the chord identification, in both the reader training section and theory section. I highly recommend the pay version. Being able to create your own criteria for the random melodies section is great.

Pitch recognition is a tough customer. As an experienced singer, I learned how inaccurate my pitching is. I'd have thought that being on the right note more than 50% of the time within such an unrealistic bracket of acceptability would be sufficient to pass, but this app wants more like 2 thirds. Gotta sing the notes cleanly, too. Any rasp or inflection will confuse it. Good for experienced musicians who need a kick up the butt. New people to it might find this off-putting, though. Very good.

I have tried several platforms to build skills and those of students. This app is the best. Graded levels of difficulty, comprehension coverage of categories, and results tracking make this comprehensive while intuitively easy to use. Bravo and thank you!

Really great for learning by ear and music theory! Wish it was free or cheaper though.
  • Ramdom melody from a fixed set of notes? Sep 2, 2020

    By CarryMe
Great app, a real go-to. I would love to specify a random melody of 4 or 8 notes from a fixed set such as {C D E F G} (as opposed to specifying a fixed set of intervals). We do this in a melodic dictation exercise in my ear training class.

Best app I've seen so far for ear training. Very versatile. Worth the money for the upgraded version. As an instructor who uses it for my students, it is also great. My students enjoy it. Very customizable for the different skill levels you may have from newbie to even college level. Customer service is also excellent if you ever need to contact them. You will not be disappointed! GET THE APP!!

This one's for the artists! It doesn't look as polished as some of the other apps, but it's got them beat out on exercises. This is the only app I've found at short notice that you can practice scale degrees/solfege with alongside basic intervals. All I'm missing is the ability to set the 'tonal center' to 'random' in the tonal exercises, but it'll be many hours of practice for me before that becomes an issue. The app is made with love, you can tell!

Great app. Really helps with practicing this essential skill. A change I'd like to see would be to have a guitar fretboard view, but the keyboard view is still very useful.

Overall very good. Would like something aimed at beginners. Intervals in one for instance. I am making progress however and I will keep on.
  • Fun little app! Apr 7, 2017

One minor ding: go to the settings and any attempt to adjust the input method locks-up the app until a kill and restart. Thanks for making this app!

It's good but there simply have to be more keys shown than the range that's given since some of the correct notes are outside the display. This certainly gets frustrating, all the more since I acquired the Premium edition.
