    I’m happy with the app overall but The old app had a progress bar for the downloads which made it easy to track progress would like something similar. Could you also let the app show a preview of all files not just pictures. Also, if there is a duplicate file please let the app download it anyway and either rename it or just have the duplicate name. I had downloads where it just stops because it’s sees a duplicate file. Very frustrating.

    I have been using this drive since 2015 and have been very pleased not only with the reliability but it’s accessibility while traveling. I travel internationally and have always been able to access my files. I use third party software for syncing to the drive and have peace of mind that my files are secure and safe. Would recommend this product to anyone needing this type of solution.

    When it works, it works fine. However, probably half my photos come up as a blur or heavily pixilated. Especially, my archive (scanned) photos. All my photos look fine via WD's web access so I don't know why this app has so many display issues.

    I’m pretty disappointed that the only way to backup media is to choose a root folder. At least with the old app you could choose a sub folder. And also, it wouldn’t create a folder name itself, it just added new photos to the chosen folder that already existed. This is an annoyance as it’s 1 step forward, 2 steps back as not only is that an issue but I cannot just move the files as a series. I have to move all files individually. Thousands of photos 1 by 1?

    Although it was a difficult process to update the my cloud device, it was totally worthwhile for a better app interface. I’m also glad they fixed all the problems with windows computers interface as well. Thanks for getting your stuff together WD!

    Great new app for the my cloud. Unfortunately the uploading capabilities are a downgrade from the previous app. Uploading files takes way too long. If this wasn't an issue the app would earn 5 stars.

    Made the update to OS5 and my NAS indexes for about 3 days. App was working just fine except auto backup just doesn’t work on iOS. Now as of Dec 10th the app no longer connects to the NAS at home on the same WiFi or away. Please fix. Update: Logging off and signing back in has fixed the problem. Auto update still doesn’t work. Have to manually sync images by opening the app every so often.

    1. Being able to edit/create simple text files in place. 2. Being able to upload PDFs or other file types besides just photos & videos through “+Add Something” from mobile phone. Otherwise, works like why other cloud storage service. Giving it 3 stars due to lack of such basic functionality.

    Love this app except since December 8 I have not been able to use the app to get anything. It will not connect no matter what even though it’s sees it it just won’t display so that I can access my folders. This happened right after they are so update on the iPhone please check it

    There are a lot of upgrades on Apps and usually I’m mad about something they changed. Something they added that mad it more difficult to use rather than easier. This did the total opposite it made it basic so anyone can use it. 5 SOLID STARS YALL GOT EVERYTHING RIGHT!!!!!!!

    I have [tried] to upload my iCloud Photo Library as a 2nd back up solution to my NAS using this app. The app itself does look nicer but all this does not help if I cannot view the photos on my other devices properly. I have 20,000+ in my library and all I get is this huge endless list of photos that takes a million years to fetch the images from every time I open the app. Surely there should be a way to cache the thumbnails locally for quicker access? Also it does not seem to upload the folders. Therefore I am stuck with an endless list of photos. There is also no proper progress bar to tell me how many of my images have been uploaded correctly yet. I am also getting lots of „oops ... something went wrong!“ messages when I try to look at my photos from a different view

    You need to fix your android app not connecting to NAS soon. Or i'll drive to the nearest Western digital office and ram my NAS into the first person i see in the building. Its getting to the point were i just want a refund for this. I bought your cloud device so i could access my files from anywhere privately. Now i need to go home to power cycle the f-ing NAS before it will sync and connect. Get your S- * it sorted western digital. This is a f-ing joke.

    But trying to get this to work for several weeks. But every time I go through the steps to create an account I get the same error message telling me I’m not connected to the internet, which is wrong because I can download and install apps to my drive. The drive has the latest firmware and is in good condition. I tried the suggestions written on the community forums. Nothing worked. I emailed tech support and that didn’t help. Couldn’t even send them the log files they requested because Apple’s mail servers decided not to work for this particular situation. I’m starting to feel like WDC hates me and wants me to switch to a competitor because nothing works as advertised for me anymore. Yes, I am taking this personally now.

    I have been using western digital gen 2 for years and I want to warn all people, DONT BUY FROM WD. The aps is such a mess. It will keep prompting error "device offline. Even you manage to solve it, the problem will be back again. I can 100% guarantee that if you travel, and need to assess the file remotely, and suddenly this error appear, and you have no other ways to get the file, you will be as mad as me now. Just buy other brand. (FYI, I can only use it as backup hard disk).

    With OS 3, I could manipulate files much easier - like edit in place and move from one server to another - and the support for the Files app was pretty decent, which gave me a lot of additional options. With OS 5, I can “see” only one of my servers at a time, have much more limited editing in place, and it’s slow as molasses. I upgraded my main server (1.5 TB of data and a LOT of files) three days ago, and it still hasn’t finished indexing all the files. Because it’s not done indexing yet, I can get to only some of my files. Tip: If you’re on the same network as your server, link to it in the Files app via its IP address - that lets you see all files and is super fast. I wish I could go back to OS 3, but WD says it’s a one-way upgrade. Needs work.

    DO NOT MOVE TO OS5 FROM OS3! I have had a gen2 mirror for years and my whole family could use it to upload and download files(besides photos) as needed. To download anything besides a photo, you have to open the file in another app to have it download locally. You cannot select multiple files/directories of any type to download as previously on OS3. OS "Upgrade" is less functionality than previous version. EDITED: Update on having access.

    I’ve owned several MyCloud devices over the years. I’m done with this company. I recently updated the firmware on my newest 20TB drive from version 3 to version 5. It took nearly 2 weeks for the drive to index all of the files. After that the hard drives are still very active, when even when they are not in use. This will cause the drives to wear out faster. What’s worse is that each user now needs to register and be logged into a western digital account in order to view the files with the app. This was not required on version 3. This morning I opened the app to view my files. The app had logged me out. I tried to log in to no avail. It just hangs at login. I wont be purchasing Western Digital products again.

    DOWNgrade rather than UPgrade...I can not rename or define my own name for my backup folders. If I rename a backup folder, the system creates a new folder automatically with same data duplicating all files again. I can't open, view or download any other files in my phone besides pictures and videos. So, no cloud system capabilities fully available. Need to make the app more robust and complete as a real cloud system with capabilities to manipulate any type of data not just pictures and videos.

    If you have not already upgraded to My Cloud OS 5, Don’t! The new mobile app is absolutely horrible! Everything is “Read Only” gone is the functionality of downloading mp3 files in an iOS local offline folder say when wifi or cellular data is unavailable like when in an airplane or something like that. I must say the loss in many key functions is extremely disappointing and I am thankful I only own one NAS unit by WD! Stick with what actually works and don’t upgrade to OS 5! I am an IT professional and usually never write reviews but I felt compelled to do so here since there is no rollback to OS 3 after you do it and the OS 3 mobile app will no longer access the new OS 5 volume!

    I've lost access to files on my device from within the app to copy files or save to the NAS. I have to install apps from other vendors to read my files, the apps I've been using to view and edit my files on my backup drive are no longer recognised. There is no in-app viewer, I have to download and open my file to view. It doesn't backup my device, just the photos. I can't copy files to my cloud drive. Don't upgrade to version 5, the previous version was a lot better.

    I have been really happy with the update to OS5 but since yesterday December 8th, 2020 I haven’t been able to access from the app, but I have been able to access from Safari with no problem. Please solve it.

    I h ace been using my cloud for 3 years now and have painfully accepted its results. With the addition of this new software upgrade and Goodsync WD my cloud may now finally be a decent backup and real-time storage device. Fingers crossed.

    Been using it for almost 2 year now got a refurb unit on a budget and it never failed me satisfied my need as a back up and as a hme media server love this product and when the budget permits i might upgrade to a 4 bay unit.

    My only issue is it won't open MS Office apps to open Word, Excel etc. They are not an option for opening files...on Android anyway.

    I would love to store my iTunes purchased movies and tv shows in here and delete them all of my iPhone memory and stream them from them from these drives I really would love for wd to partner with apple to allow that for film data it would help a bunch saving the purchased movie files here and not on the internal memory of the iOS devices

    Please add a "wake" option to this app to allow the NAS to be woken from hibernation mode, so people don't need to install a separate application. What's the point of being able to hibernate the device and not be able to wake it up again?!

    When manually uploading files from the phone there's no way to see the filename; just a tiny thumbnail. This makes it impossible to determine which video file I'm trying to find. Need a way to switch from thumbnail view to 'list' view. Also needs a progress bar for active uploads. Also no way to see a list of previous uploads like the old app. A lot of features are lacking compared to the old app.

    I upgraded to OS5 hoping for some new features and streamlined UI. Overall, I am really disappointed and feel like this is instead a huge step back. The ability to select multiple files at once and save them your device isn't even possible. You are forced to select one at a time and perform the action over and over. Another gripe is the lack of control over auto backups. Instead of allowing you to select an exact folder/name, you are forced to use a primary drive and a generic folder name.

    I've lost access to files on my device from within the app to copy files or save to the NAS.     Wont let me sign in, it either freezes or tells me im using an incorrect email or password. Also can't sign into os 5 online it says there's no internet connection. So hoping this was an upgrade from os 3 which stopped working but this app is even worse.

    Does not allow LAN access unless you use my cloud account. I bought WD NAS to avoid giving 3rd parties access to private file. Functionality of old app was acceptable. Not great but functional. New app is useless. You cannot even move a file to another share on the same NAS. I only used this app because it’s the only way to access files on iPad from my NAS since I upgraded to mycloud OS5. DO NOT UPGRADE if you want to have private LAN access without having to use WD’s mycloud. Also broke backup functionality between Multiple WD NAS that I am running. I only upgraded 1 NAS to OS5. Won’t make that mistake on the others....
