    Need to bring back the ability to upload all file types to your NAS device, not just photos. Defeats the purpose of having NAS storage.

    I have been using this drive since 2015 and have been very pleased not only with the reliability but it’s accessibility while traveling. I travel internationally and have always been able to access my files. I use third party software for syncing to the drive and have peace of mind that my files are secure and safe. Would recommend this product to anyone needing this type of solution.

    The app is way faster and less buggy then the previous version. But still leaves A LOT to be desired... Automatic Backup cannot be set up as desired, some folders are being grabbed automatically (DCIM) and one cannot do anything against it. For me the non-stop backing up of the Photo folder is nonsense: all the unwanted and blurry Fotos get sent to the cloud instantly, what is the sence in that??

    I’m pretty disappointed that the only way to backup media is to choose a root folder. At least with the old app you could choose a sub folder. And also, it wouldn’t create a folder name itself, it just added new photos to the chosen folder that already existed. This is an annoyance as it’s 1 step forward, 2 steps back as not only is that an issue but I cannot just move the files as a series. I have to move all files individually. Thousands of photos 1 by 1?

    This app won't allow you to login unless your password contains lower and uppercase letters. But the device does not require it. So during password creation you can create an all caps password, but you can't use the OS5 app. Other than that, so far I'm happy with its performance. You still have to open the app to backup stuff. I disliked not being able to backup photos to the folder of my choosing. I was forced to create separate shares for mine and my wife's phone which was annoying.

    Upgrade was a HUGE mistake! Seemed to work ok the first day. It backed up my phone successfully. Now won't connect to the internet and can't add a share for my wife. A complete waste of time. This is the worst app I've ever had.

    I have [tried] to upload my iCloud Photo Library as a 2nd back up solution to my NAS using this app. The app itself does look nicer but all this does not help if I cannot view the photos on my other devices properly. I have 20,000+ in my library and all I get is this huge endless list of photos that takes a million years to fetch the images from every time I open the app. Surely there should be a way to cache the thumbnails locally for quicker access? Also it does not seem to upload the folders. Therefore I am stuck with an endless list of photos. There is also no proper progress bar to tell me how many of my images have been uploaded correctly yet. I am also getting lots of „oops ... something went wrong!“ messages when I try to look at my photos from a different view

    Edit: Problem is not solved at all! --- When I want to move a file I cannot see root folder (eg. public, transmission, ecc..) so I can just move files inside a folder and its children folders. Can you fix this behavior?

    But trying to get this to work for several weeks. But every time I go through the steps to create an account I get the same error message telling me I’m not connected to the internet, which is wrong because I can download and install apps to my drive. The drive has the latest firmware and is in good condition. I tried the suggestions written on the community forums. Nothing worked. I emailed tech support and that didn’t help. Couldn’t even send them the log files they requested because Apple’s mail servers decided not to work for this particular situation. I’m starting to feel like WDC hates me and wants me to switch to a competitor because nothing works as advertised for me anymore. Yes, I am taking this personally now.

    I’ve owned several MyCloud devices over the years. I’m done with this company. I recently updated the firmware on my newest 20TB drive from version 3 to version 5. It took nearly 2 weeks for the drive to index all of the files. After that the hard drives are still very active, when even when they are not in use. This will cause the drives to wear out faster. What’s worse is that each user now needs to register and be logged into a western digital account in order to view the files with the app. This was not required on version 3. This morning I opened the app to view my files. The app had logged me out. I tried to log in to no avail. It just hangs at login. I wont be purchasing Western Digital products again.

    Love this app except since December 8 I have not been able to use the app to get anything. It will not connect no matter what even though it’s sees it it just won’t display so that I can access my folders. This happened right after they are so update on the iPhone please check it

    Way way way better than the old OS. Much snappier response times from local network mappings to remote connections via cellular devices or wifi. Finally my NAS is behaving like it is supoosed to. Good Job WD Also good job for stopping the crawler service that reported back statistics on file types. What a waste of precious resources that was!

    It's been relatively easy to use. Though I had to learn a few unique things about how storage filling works. It's been really easy to share files and folders. Our extended family has been putting together family pictures and videos. This has been a nice secure space to do that.

    There are a lot of upgrades on Apps and usually I’m mad about something they changed. Something they added that mad it more difficult to use rather than easier. This did the total opposite it made it basic so anyone can use it. 5 SOLID STARS YALL GOT EVERYTHING RIGHT!!!!!!!

    Made the update to OS5 and my NAS indexes for about 3 days. App was working just fine except auto backup just doesn’t work on iOS. Now as of Dec 10th the app no longer connects to the NAS at home on the same WiFi or away. Please fix. Update: Logging off and signing back in has fixed the problem. Auto update still doesn’t work. Have to manually sync images by opening the app every so often.

    My cloud firmware was updated yesterday. Now this app cannot connect to it. This isn’t good when you need dependability. UPDATE: Rebooted all. Sent a new invite to myself. Manually entered user of and password. Finally work again. This outage was terrible and unnecessary for a mission critical app. Hours to figure out how to fix this mess.

    Unlike the Wd Photos App for the OS3 the OS5 app douse not create a folder like this year_month it just dumps every thing to the main folder. It would be great if the OS5 app would do that. Add option to backup new photos only, For me most photos are all ready backed up. Wd photos auto backups new photos with out the need to launch the app, can you please do this for the new OS5 App or upgrade the Wd Photos app to support the new OS5.

    1. Being able to edit/create simple text files in place. 2. Being able to upload PDFs or other file types besides just photos & videos through “+Add Something” from mobile phone. Otherwise, works like why other cloud storage service. Giving it 3 stars due to lack of such basic functionality.

    I can be sitting in the same room as my MyCloud drive and the app tries to connect for 2-3 minutes before failing and asking me to try again. It is a rare occasion that the app connects to the drive in a reasonable amount of time. This app definitely needs some work. PS. I am IT professional who designs and supports software with an MSIS degree.

    This App looks lovely, but is not as good as the old App. Transferring files no longer shows you individual file progress, and seems to take longer, and you are limited to 20 items at once. There are various other things, like why is there still no support for drag and drop and split screen? The whole point of MyCloud is to be able to move files to and from it, and this App could be so much better. Very disappointing.

    Edited review: UI improvements mask a more fundamental lack of functionality compared to OS 3. No background media player; no ability to manage (delete/rename) Shares within app; no clear way to upload files that are not photos or videos; no categorised media view (e.g. tabs for Photo, Video, Music); indexing times can be arduously long yet are not made very obvious. Thankfully switching over existing cloud accounts and TimeMachine (Mac) backups is relatively smooth.

    1. OS5 on NAS - why do you remove circle statistic of file types on dashboard ? 2. OS5 on NAS - why indexing is so long ? It always rise my device on heights 24/7... 3. OS5 on Android app, why we can only check photos ? I want to check/use/backup all of my data, not only photos ... 4. Security is a high plus but what cost !!!

    Regretting my decision to "upgrade" from OS 3 to OS 5. No way to copy files from the My Cloud drive to my phone as I could with OS 3. Very disappointing. Until this basic functionality is implemented (will they?), I recommend staying with OS 3.
