  • Difficult to set up Jun 28, 2021

I spent over an hour and a half trying to set it up and finally succeeded. The interface to start a program is also counterintuitive and requires more steps than necessary. However, once you learn the idiosyncrasies, it works really nicely.

I’m in the US, I mention that only because I think the app works differently in different areas. I had no problem loading the app and connecting to the dishwasher. I only did this because the reviews were soooo bad. I didn’t buy the dishwasher for its connectivity but I needed to see how bad it really was. I don’t envision needing to remote start but being able to check a status of a wash can come in handy every now and again . The app does perform that function and it changes the time as the washer tells it updates( just a minute or two along the way). So I guess it would be nice if it told me how much detergent was left in my autodos but other than that it works fine for me. Good luck!!

Miele, popping up two separate terms acceptance notices every time you enter the app is absolutely absurd and whoever wrote this and didn’t catch that in testing should be caned. Also had trouble pairing the appliances - failures to pair, messages that it had failed when it was actually successful, messages that a final registration transmission of some kind had not completed, it was a hassle and if I wasn’t an IT person I would likely have given up in frustration. I love having the basic functionality of getting notices when my laundry is done, but this app needs updates for quality control in a serious way Miele, for what is supposed to be a premium appliance experience it makes you all look bad IMHO.

Update after 2.9.4: App more stable and capable. However, this version lost capability to update detergent levels or add them to cart. Energy usage displays for washer but not for dryer Prior to 2.9.4: After a few version updates over the past week or two I am still seeing a defect on my W1 washer screen. The Program field, instead of displaying the program I select, such as Normal, instead shows APP_MISSING_LOCALIZATIONKEY2 Also, the app does not seem to read the TwinDos levels. And with one of the updates, all finish times appear in 24 hour format. There should be a setting to display 12 hour format with AM/PM as is typical in the USA Energy usage does not seem to update. Sometimes I see water usage. But a history of runs and data would be an excellent update. That would tell you how many loads you did, how long they took, how much energy/water, along with start and finish times, etc.

App feels like an advertisement now. Lost functionality. Product/design team should be fired. No longer show salt or rinse aid levels. Also, no longer shows the cycle it’s currently in. Thanks. Your app is now 100% useless. We didn’t want you to totally redesign your crappy app. We wanted you to fix the crappy api calls and internal memory. Look at your reviews, find the root problems, and improve. It’s 2021… How hard can it be?

After going through a rather lengthy process of setting up an account and entering device information for pairing it keeps getting stuck at the very last stage. This app doesn't just not work, it appears to actively try to frustrate you. Miele may have been a premium brand in the previous century, but they clearly haven't caught up to this one yet.

Complete nightmare! This app is supposed to simplify the operation. It does not connect up properly, and when I gave up it displayed my machine program and time, which I had to set manually. But it also shows a demo appliance which I cannot remove. What is the point of using it? The original version - not so glitzy - worked well, but this version is useless!

What I’ve found is that it notifies me on my watch when the laundry washing drying cycles or dishwasher are done. The app does not work to schedule a future start time for example the dishwasher. I choose the program and any options and set the start time. Usually for 0100 in the morning. Then if I press start the program, it ignores the time and begins the cycle immediately. If I do not press start the program then the next morning the dishes were never washed. Seems buggy.

Anything else is a compromise...except this app which is pure trash now! The previous version had bugs but it worked. The new version takes forever to open, its lost the washing and drying assistant, the 'time to end' is only accessible if you tap into the appliance which usually doesn't open and if it does, it takes ages. You can't track the cycle progress at all as it now permanently says the machine is on the main wash even as the complete cycle is ending. I expect better from Miele.

The old app was OK some things were difficult or cumbersome but the new version of the app is terrible. The QA department didn’t do their job. 1) many times it will not let you select a mode the controls doesn’t become active. 2) when you can select it, it will come back with “we’re experiencing technical difficulties.” 3) the level of the twindos is no longer available.

Agree with all previous negative comments. The previous app was clunky but ok. After this update it is simply unusable. We use it with a washing machine. Quite simply Miele you need to sort this out. You sell a premium product at significant cost. Your app should be a lot better. I'm happy to be contacted if you require further information.

This app is slow, buggy, and much worse than the last one. The UI looks fine but is plagued with slow updating displays, technical faults with no information, limited info on module updates, among other issues. Needs A LOT of bugfixing! Do NOT update.

After update it is a disaster. It is loading several seconds after each option selection. Program settings and preview is sparse and static menu takes most of the screen, so I need to scroll a lot more. When I want to set up program, I need to do a lot more clicks (unnecessary confirmation...). I do not see the percentage of twindos. Alphabeticaly ordered programs is the only better thing compare to old version which was at least usable and did not crash each time I wanted to set program.

They've replaced a perfectly working one with a useless new one. It keeps asking me to log in and instead of giving me the percentage full for my TwinDos soaps, it just says 'sufficient' - any attempt to get a more meaningful figure results in an error message. Complete and utter load of manure. Please let me have the previous version back.

It no longer shows salt or rinse aid levels for my dishwasher. The status tab just shows how many tabs I have left. It also doesn’t say which part of the cycle it is in, which is more useful than just an animation. Version 4.0.0.

What on earth have you done to this app? Ruined it, that's what. You've taken a reasonably functional and useful app and: - Made it slow to start - Required a login each time - Made it take forever to find my washing machine - Made it impossible to check the levels in the Twindos cartridges ("technical error") - stuffed an unwanted ad in it Can I have the old version back please? Miele are a premium manufacturer, but this is a poorly-made app that spoils its reputation for quality.
  • Miele, wake up. Jul 21, 2021

I consider Miele to be a top brand. They seem to care about visual design and user experience design. However, this is not well implemented from top to bottom. Let me start by saying that this app cannot be reviewed by itself without involving the hardware that it controls. So that’s what I’ll be doing in my (short review). First of all, this app uses a proprietary protocol. It doesn’t seem to be based on a standard like HomeKit or ITTT, which pretty much makes it useless in a true smart home setup, where I want to grab my phone, slide over Control Centre and immediately control the oven for example, or turn on the lights of my ventilation hood. Why is that not a thing in 2021? Secondly, just hooking up the appliances is a disaster. My cooktop was fixed in my kitchen, yet the app asks me for a “data plate” to scan, according to the app on the bottom of the device (nope), or supplied with the menu (nope). The oven then was a piece of cake; the data plate was inside the door. The steam oven? Cannot be found. Almost accidentally I found ways for the device to broadcast its data so that I could manually input it in the app. I do not even know if my wine cooler, fridges and other appliances are “smart”. I guess not? How is this a consistent user experience? Why am I fiddling with this thing for hours? Lastly, the app has bugs. I have tried to remove a “demo appliance”. It just stays there. Forever? Meh. Other glitches exist. So there you go, Miele. Please give us a standardized protocol, fix bugs and make the on-boarding a breeze, like Apple does so well.

Latest version does not allow to toggle fault notifications off from a cooktop. Anything placed on the cooktop while preparing meals (cooktop power off) even temporarily generates very annoying messages, which is infuriating. And these fault notifications come also when someone else is preparing the food and places something on the cooktop while I am elsewhere not knowing what is happening. Please reinstate fault notification on/off toggling!

Premium and costly products but a useless app can ruin it all! The pairing process goes well up to the last stage where the appliance and the phone have to pair but this never works! Very frustrating to see Miele not being able to deliver a useful and working app for their premium products! Moreover, version 4.0.0 claims to have added "Greater stability" :)))
